ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Are you disappointed because someone hasn't met your expectations, or because you've never actually communicated them?
After a little break from the microphone, I'm back! And I'm celebrating a pretty exciting milestone ~ 2,500 podcast downloads! Thank you so much for being part of this journey.
In this episode of The Intuitive Marriage Method, we're having an honest conversation about expectations. The ones we place on ourselves, our spouses, our children, our friends and the people around us.
I'm also sharing a little about what's been happening in my life, from starting a new career at 55 and watching things come full circle, to working on my upcoming book, Worthy of Love: A Journey to Self-Worth and a Thriving Marriage.
Barry and I have also been having some important conversations about finances, household responsibilities, our future and what we each expect from one another. Not always easy conversations, but necessary ones!
In this episode, we're talking about:
- Why unspoken expectations can lead to disappointment and resentment.
- Having those uncomfortable but important conversations in marriage.
- Understanding that your spouse's expectations may be different from yours.
- How self-love and self-worth help us communicate our needs.
- Finding the balance between giving ourselves grace and taking accountability.
- Why changing direction or pivoting doesn't mean we've failed.
- How our expectations of happiness, success and fulfillment change as we grow.
- Using the Sunday Reset to communicate, plan and stay connected.
One thing I've learned is that we are absolutely entitled to have expectations, but we also have a responsibility to communicate them. And just as importantly, we need to be willing to listen.
You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to have everything figured out. But you do need to be willing to communicate, listen, take accountability and grow.
A little something to think about
Are you holding yourself or someone you love to expectations that may no longer be realistic?
Have you actually communicated what you need?
And are you allowing yourself and the people around you the freedom to grow and change?
Let's stay connected!
Grab my FREE Sunday Reset Printable through my website and start having those weekly conversations with your spouse about schedules, responsibilities, priorities and making time for each other.
I'd also love to hear from you! What expectations have you had to change in your own life or marriage?
Thank you for listening, sharing and helping this little podcast reach 2,500 downloads!
Remember, you are worthy of love.
Much love,
Amanda 💜
