To night.
21
00:01:54.560 --> 00:01:58.400
The Case of the Arrogant Arsonists. Another Counterspy report to
22
00:01:58.480 --> 00:02:02.799
the American people a few weeks Tuesday and Thursday by Pepsicola.
23
00:02:06.200 --> 00:02:08.400
That's a lot, that's right. You heard what they said.
24
00:02:08.520 --> 00:02:11.919
Two full glasses of sparkling Petsi from one big twelve
25
00:02:11.919 --> 00:02:14.960
ounce bottle. You're getting an extra glass ball. And what
26
00:02:15.120 --> 00:02:18.680
a delicious glass ball. The most refreshing, delightful cola that
27
00:02:18.840 --> 00:02:22.360
ever tickled your tape. You can't top Pepsi's hanging flavors.
28
00:02:22.639 --> 00:02:25.599
And that big, big bottle saves your money goes twice
29
00:02:25.639 --> 00:02:30.280
as far. Petsi's America is big, big favorite and America's
30
00:02:30.319 --> 00:02:34.360
biggest solar value. So why take less when Petsi's best.
31
00:02:34.960 --> 00:02:37.560
Whenever you read for refreshments, remember.
32
00:02:38.039 --> 00:02:42.960
Why take last? When PETSI bet and now the counterspire.
33
00:02:54.560 --> 00:02:57.319
One of the most despicable of all times is the
34
00:02:57.400 --> 00:03:01.479
malicious setting of fire. Violence of all criminals is a
35
00:03:01.560 --> 00:03:05.400
professional arsonist. We go back some years to a winter
36
00:03:05.520 --> 00:03:11.280
evening in Berlin, Germany. Two men stand back from a
37
00:03:11.360 --> 00:03:14.439
cloud watching the fireman fighter hopeless battle against the flame
38
00:03:14.599 --> 00:03:18.599
swiftly devouring the large building. A small man smiled proudly
39
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:20.879
and turned to his uniform companions.
40
00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:28.439
Exquisite am to be prist? Yes, scratch, very beautiful, a.
41
00:03:28.599 --> 00:03:32.719
Wonderful thing, a dance like a lovely girl of abelly.
42
00:03:32.960 --> 00:03:36.360
Right the night will be a turning point in his history.
43
00:03:36.680 --> 00:03:38.800
I have no interesting history, mister d six.
44
00:03:39.319 --> 00:03:42.759
I'm an artist. He go with good business. Then how
45
00:03:42.759 --> 00:03:44.919
does my work is done? There's a matter of the
46
00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:46.240
fifty thousands mark.
47
00:03:46.439 --> 00:03:49.680
You have earned your money work when you put the
48
00:03:49.800 --> 00:03:53.280
talks to the right suck you took at a flaming
49
00:03:53.520 --> 00:03:56.159
simple that will raided for you is to come.
50
00:04:03.759 --> 00:04:08.199
That was February twenty seventh, nineteen thirty three, the infamous
51
00:04:08.280 --> 00:04:12.080
Wife Dog fire in Berlin. Now, though Hitler's Germany has
52
00:04:12.120 --> 00:04:16.000
since been fruged, parts of that fire still smolder for
53
00:04:16.120 --> 00:04:19.519
greed and ruthlessness. But started it still survive and flurish.
54
00:04:20.680 --> 00:04:24.160
Three weeks ago, and Tangier in North Africa, Carl Dietrich,
55
00:04:24.519 --> 00:04:28.600
Bill Tom still arrogance waited in his sumptuous office.
56
00:04:33.360 --> 00:04:35.800
Your phone called the work in New York's leading Ditch
57
00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:42.240
Thanglain man, Hello, welf be good. Did did you get
58
00:04:42.319 --> 00:04:43.000
my message?
59
00:04:43.079 --> 00:04:43.680
Mister Detrix?
60
00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:46.399
Yes, this company properly.
61
00:04:46.680 --> 00:04:46.879
Ah.
62
00:04:47.079 --> 00:04:49.600
Then I'll go right ahead and destroy these house books.
63
00:04:49.600 --> 00:04:51.399
As I said to the message, you'll do nothing of
64
00:04:51.480 --> 00:04:51.920
the kind.
65
00:04:52.120 --> 00:04:55.560
But what's mister Dietrich. The federal grand jury meets here
66
00:04:55.600 --> 00:04:57.279
in New York at the end of next week. They're
67
00:04:57.279 --> 00:05:02.480
going to investigate all exporting couples. They'll subpoenaur books. They'll
68
00:05:02.519 --> 00:05:06.319
have a record of all the transax But don't you see,
69
00:05:06.399 --> 00:05:08.800
they'll find out that my exporting company is just a
70
00:05:09.319 --> 00:05:12.480
tell me for supplying your combine with potential war materials.
71
00:05:12.600 --> 00:05:16.879
Don't so what can you do, mister, drip your thousands
72
00:05:16.879 --> 00:05:17.600
of miles away.
73
00:05:18.720 --> 00:05:19.439
I'll be ruined.
74
00:05:19.519 --> 00:05:22.120
I'll kill myself before I.
75
00:05:22.199 --> 00:05:23.120
Let them put me in jail.
76
00:05:23.600 --> 00:05:28.079
Stop talking like an idiot. I'll handle everything. I'm taking
77
00:05:28.120 --> 00:05:29.720
the first plane. When you're all.
78
00:05:47.399 --> 00:05:52.160
We talk about your session immediately urgent cold radio Brando
79
00:05:52.360 --> 00:05:53.480
receipt from Tangier.
80
00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:06.879
All right, that measures the Channel four. Justice Peter returned
81
00:06:08.879 --> 00:06:10.480
the electronic Ya Cooders.
82
00:06:10.120 --> 00:06:11.680
The laboratory, boycause I looked certain the.
83
00:06:11.680 --> 00:06:13.360
Same time, and we have to record in a hurry.
84
00:06:16.480 --> 00:06:17.839
It started from the beginning.
85
00:06:18.560 --> 00:06:22.439
Agent ropes from counters by transmitter l S four, Tangier,
86
00:06:22.600 --> 00:06:27.519
North Africa to Haunting headquarters, Washington. Carl Diatrick and his
87
00:06:27.680 --> 00:06:32.560
secretary Nina Campbell left here by plane fifteen hundred Tangier times.
88
00:06:33.199 --> 00:06:37.879
According to Passport, their destination is New York. Investigation Joe's
89
00:06:37.920 --> 00:06:42.120
dietricks at Podger with Hasty and Unexpected. It followed an
90
00:06:42.160 --> 00:06:44.040
overseas bone call with New York.
91
00:06:44.920 --> 00:06:47.680
That is all that Tippy pasts along the great mind
92
00:06:47.839 --> 00:06:50.279
Eric Wolf in New York would today looks that way.
93
00:06:50.920 --> 00:06:53.600
He's Sidney pig Wolf of the jittery time. He's now
94
00:06:53.639 --> 00:06:56.439
strubbling right away. He sent for proper Dietrichs. That was
95
00:06:56.439 --> 00:06:59.920
a smart stent if to put Wolf into questioning more
96
00:07:00.160 --> 00:07:02.199
cog in ditrict set of peters. I mean, just the
97
00:07:02.279 --> 00:07:04.839
man who ships the supply into the Marshall Plan countries.
98
00:07:05.199 --> 00:07:08.959
You want the big boys. Yeah, it's Ducrek who engineers
99
00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:11.360
the trick, is getting such war potential items as oil,
100
00:07:11.600 --> 00:07:15.240
steel and chemicals tranship to his customers and nations outside
101
00:07:15.279 --> 00:07:15.639
the marcall.
102
00:07:15.680 --> 00:07:18.000
Flanns, Well, it looks like we'll be able to lead
103
00:07:18.040 --> 00:07:19.000
in the big station now.
104
00:07:19.279 --> 00:07:22.839
Yeah, as long as District was operating from me Tangier headquarters,
105
00:07:22.879 --> 00:07:24.319
he was out of our reach. Now all we have
106
00:07:24.439 --> 00:07:26.399
to do is nail him when he steps off the plane.
107
00:07:26.199 --> 00:07:26.600
In New York.
108
00:07:26.839 --> 00:07:30.639
Well, I'm not having ditrict pick up theaters. Yet Ditrich
109
00:07:30.680 --> 00:07:33.279
is the food operator. We need direct evidence against him,
110
00:07:33.639 --> 00:07:35.319
so we go to New York here, that's why Peters.
111
00:07:35.439 --> 00:07:37.319
They go to New York and we stand by until
112
00:07:37.360 --> 00:07:39.519
Dietrich and wolf give us the evidence.
113
00:07:39.240 --> 00:07:49.800
We want a twelve mister hiding New York Field office.
114
00:07:49.720 --> 00:07:52.720
Go ahead, j twelve Patrick and secretary.
115
00:07:52.279 --> 00:07:56.279
In the compo registered at Hotel Tremont Reach eighteen o
116
00:07:56.480 --> 00:07:57.839
three and eighteen o four.
117
00:07:58.680 --> 00:08:00.720
Eric Wolfe was waiting for I'm in lobby.
118
00:08:01.240 --> 00:08:04.600
The three have got and Ditrick sweet than at all?
119
00:08:12.160 --> 00:08:15.800
Well you've jn us in the drink, don't Yeah, no, no,
120
00:08:16.079 --> 00:08:20.639
thank you, mister d You need you drunk or the usual,
121
00:08:20.720 --> 00:08:25.680
mister mister Dietrich. The grand jury convenes at the end
122
00:08:25.720 --> 00:08:26.360
of the week.
123
00:08:26.279 --> 00:08:29.800
As oh no, ha ha, how can you be so calm?
124
00:08:30.360 --> 00:08:33.039
I haven't calm. Make that I won't have a chance
125
00:08:33.200 --> 00:08:36.879
my books, so they'll expose everything. I'll be finished. Something's
126
00:08:36.919 --> 00:08:39.080
got to be done. You've got to stoves me, mister.
127
00:08:40.240 --> 00:08:44.840
I haven't said, well, better got than whining? You got drinking?
128
00:08:44.960 --> 00:08:45.480
No thank you?
129
00:08:47.159 --> 00:08:50.080
Well, don't you realize I have as much to louse
130
00:08:50.159 --> 00:08:53.600
as you have more? You think I ran the work
131
00:08:53.600 --> 00:08:57.240
of coming here just for pleasure. I have millions of plates.
132
00:08:57.440 --> 00:09:00.679
But if our account books are taken before the hour.
133
00:09:00.799 --> 00:09:06.240
Help me worry about those books for uh that should
134
00:09:06.240 --> 00:09:06.720
be dropt.
135
00:09:07.559 --> 00:09:12.240
Gentlemen, I'm expected you know that a mentor thought, mister
136
00:09:12.320 --> 00:09:18.759
d Lena here d it's.
137
00:09:18.600 --> 00:09:21.039
That door of the forty or souls and say it.
138
00:09:21.159 --> 00:09:23.039
Is not yet.
139
00:09:30.320 --> 00:09:36.759
Onely not God, I'm comman, Why just no wl it.
140
00:09:36.799 --> 00:09:40.039

shouldn't be.
144
00:09:49.759 --> 00:09:50.320
Charted like this.
145
00:09:50.799 --> 00:09:53.159
Yeah, how long do I have to go on working
146
00:09:53.200 --> 00:09:53.919
for dj E?
147
00:09:54.159 --> 00:09:56.480
You took the job with Ditric so we'd have inside
148
00:09:56.519 --> 00:09:58.200
information on anything, especially court.
149
00:09:58.320 --> 00:10:01.240
But that's wrong with you knowing about sing Dietrich wouldn't

151
00:10:02.159 --> 00:10:03.919
If we're going to get what we want, we must
152
00:10:03.960 --> 00:10:07.080
have complete faces. You mean no darn and I promise
153
00:10:07.159 --> 00:10:09.039

154
00:10:09.080 --> 00:10:12.320

155
00:10:12.360 --> 00:10:22.639
I better get inside, oh Rots the man.
156
00:10:24.799 --> 00:10:28.759
One of the reason, mister wolf Gra it's the roof
157
00:10:29.159 --> 00:10:30.559
a pleasure.
158
00:10:31.039 --> 00:10:33.919
Oh my old when grass going to attend to your
159
00:10:33.960 --> 00:10:36.799

We destroyable.
161
00:10:39.120 --> 00:10:41.000
But if you give us a way to sensoy yourself.
162
00:10:42.240 --> 00:10:45.039
I believe you have a supply of carouthine or own
163
00:10:45.159 --> 00:10:47.519
hand and your aware hud a yes.
164
00:10:47.679 --> 00:10:48.960
For export next week.
165
00:10:49.200 --> 00:10:53.240
That kerouthine is not going to be exported. Not well,
166
00:10:53.399 --> 00:10:57.399
warehouses going up and smoke. I have grats come up
167
00:10:57.440 --> 00:11:02.000

168
00:11:02.320 --> 00:11:05.639

00:11:12.200 --> 00:11:16.240
To approach the problem. After next well you're awares will
173
00:11:16.279 --> 00:11:17.080
be destroyed.
174
00:11:18.720 --> 00:11:24.159
I'm su accident, But mister, what if they find out
175
00:11:24.240 --> 00:11:25.480
it isn't an accident?
176
00:11:26.240 --> 00:11:29.879
Wolf, I han't got an imperfectionist.
177
00:11:31.240 --> 00:11:35.240
When I create an accidental fire, believe me it's accidental.
178
00:11:42.559 --> 00:11:44.679
It is in patrol car through the honey in York
179
00:11:44.720 --> 00:11:47.879
food office. Go ahead, Peter, It's just a lot of
180
00:11:47.879 --> 00:11:49.879
the hotel set it visited.
181
00:11:49.960 --> 00:11:53.159
Be different an hour, I Peter, have day twelve people
182
00:11:53.159 --> 00:11:53.879
on wolf's trail.
183
00:11:55.120 --> 00:11:57.519
Also tell day nine to take both of Didric when
184
00:11:57.559 --> 00:11:58.600
an easy leaves the hotel.
185
00:11:58.679 --> 00:12:01.600
And one more thing, Peter h I find a man
186
00:12:01.679 --> 00:12:05.039
that shadow Ditric secretary. I'm curious to see where Nina
187
00:12:05.159 --> 00:12:14.279
Campbell fits into this picture. Good. I waited for the
188
00:12:14.720 --> 00:12:16.279
into your hotel. What happened now?
189
00:12:16.480 --> 00:12:18.159
I work as works were hot to longer than I
190
00:12:18.240 --> 00:12:20.240
expected that. I was going to call you here at
191
00:12:20.279 --> 00:12:22.320
your hotel, but I didn't want to take a chance
192
00:12:22.360 --> 00:12:24.200
with Dietrick around it. It becoming out of a living
193
00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:26.559
in in a minute, since I want to know something
194
00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:30.159
anything dollars until last night, but after this you.
195
00:12:30.200 --> 00:12:33.759
Will be screw up him. I promise und a five
196
00:12:33.840 --> 00:12:36.919
thousand dollars, telling that's not enough money for us to
197
00:12:36.960 --> 00:12:38.159
get away, and little.
198
00:12:40.000 --> 00:12:43.320
I have a friend, you know a plan that will
199
00:12:43.360 --> 00:12:46.720
build that five thousand into one hundred thousands.
200
00:12:48.639 --> 00:12:55.879
All right, hello, to give your wedding dollars? Did the
201
00:12:56.200 --> 00:13:01.600
people keep you entertain and the pretendos the name I
202
00:13:01.679 --> 00:13:02.919
didn't congress and so.
203
00:13:04.039 --> 00:13:12.200
B miss companies only panting to be a span. Well
204
00:13:12.279 --> 00:13:14.600
that's how did your inspection of goal? Excellent?
205
00:13:14.799 --> 00:13:15.159
Excellent?
206
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:17.080
No, I'm going back to the wahouse tonight to prepare
207
00:13:17.080 --> 00:13:20.600
for tomorrow weekning and Wolf understand what was party to
208
00:13:20.679 --> 00:13:21.559
be perfectly.
209
00:13:21.919 --> 00:13:25.759
I don't want into mister trick.
210
00:13:26.080 --> 00:13:27.840
There'll be no mistakes tomorrow night.
211
00:13:28.759 --> 00:13:30.559
Everything we go according.
212
00:13:30.200 --> 00:13:43.240
To Plants on the radio telephone with a report for
213
00:13:43.399 --> 00:13:47.840
I'm going it's hiding relay J twelve and on Thicky five.
214
00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:53.559
To twelve, car four reporting harding ahead J twelve. Well,
215
00:13:53.720 --> 00:13:54.720
let's his apartment at.
216
00:13:54.720 --> 00:13:57.960
Nine pm and drove around town for fifteen minutes. You
217
00:13:58.080 --> 00:14:01.159
got punched his car out that it's where he's been
218
00:14:01.200 --> 00:14:06.440
sitting there about Wait a second, what is it he
219
00:14:06.559 --> 00:14:07.440
got out of his car.
220
00:14:09.320 --> 00:14:12.200
Now he's opening the warehouse door and going in.
221
00:14:12.519 --> 00:14:14.759
Well, San Patrick, well don't follow him in. I don't
222
00:14:14.759 --> 00:14:15.399
want to scare him.
223
00:14:15.679 --> 00:14:16.960
He is Nie on her way down.
224
00:14:18.240 --> 00:14:20.679
This may be you think was going in with warehouse
225
00:14:20.720 --> 00:14:23.399
for his wickards be hopefully I expected him to react.
226
00:14:23.559 --> 00:14:25.440
If he does take those books out, he may deliver
227
00:14:25.519 --> 00:14:26.120
them the ditric.
228
00:14:26.279 --> 00:14:46.039
Let's go cos all I hear work.
229
00:14:46.279 --> 00:14:47.200
Never be a door.
230
00:14:50.320 --> 00:14:51.240
For three minutes.
231
00:14:51.320 --> 00:14:54.440
Spl I waited outside the little birds.
232
00:14:54.600 --> 00:14:56.399
He told him to make sure I wasn't seen coming
233
00:14:56.399 --> 00:14:56.720
in here.
234
00:14:58.279 --> 00:15:03.720
Everything of course amazing, how simp came it to be succised,
235
00:15:03.799 --> 00:15:04.960
such difficult problems.
236
00:15:05.639 --> 00:15:07.919
But I'd never get out of this a little soon
237
00:15:08.039 --> 00:15:09.919
my ways would The other three is.
238
00:15:10.399 --> 00:15:14.799
Mister b Tris is a remarkable gentleman. Haven't we better
239
00:15:14.840 --> 00:15:17.000
get over to the kerosine drum so you can start
240
00:15:17.039 --> 00:15:20.559
the fire file will start right here with this pile
241
00:15:20.600 --> 00:15:23.200
of excelsior. What's the kerosine at the other end of
242
00:15:23.279 --> 00:15:25.200
the building and near the office where you a comfort
243
00:15:25.320 --> 00:15:27.960
car glad who can't take a chance the fireman may't
244
00:15:27.960 --> 00:15:29.080
get you get the file out?
245
00:15:29.120 --> 00:15:32.320
If get that, I told you will. I'm a perfectionist.
246
00:15:33.080 --> 00:15:35.039
Nothing and save this warehouse once.
247
00:15:35.000 --> 00:15:37.320
I took a match to this EXTENSI or how can
248
00:15:37.440 --> 00:15:41.759
you be sure I'll come now? My idea was there
249
00:15:41.799 --> 00:15:43.879
are secrets to every trade.
250
00:15:45.039 --> 00:15:47.799
Give example. Look over there on the floor behind you.
251
00:15:49.159 --> 00:15:51.399
What do you mean I don't see anything to take you?
252
00:15:55.039 --> 00:15:59.639
As you said before, Wolf, soon your wethers will be over.
253
00:16:01.320 --> 00:16:05.440
You were right, and oh you are welling. I'm going
254
00:16:05.679 --> 00:16:32.679
up and small that's to tatters by and just a moment.
255
00:16:33.879 --> 00:16:37.840
But first petal on pets and bottle crucal classes and
256
00:16:38.679 --> 00:16:41.399
lots more value, a lot more destiny take class.
257
00:16:41.440 --> 00:16:44.919
When more and more, among fellas and girls, among mothers
258
00:16:44.960 --> 00:16:47.840
and dads, you hear that scene and sensible question, Why
259
00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:51.480
take less when pepsi is bet? No budget, no allowance
260
00:16:51.600 --> 00:16:55.639
ever had a better friend than Tanny sparkling pepsicola. Because
261
00:16:55.720 --> 00:16:59.080
one big twelve out pepsi bottle gives you two delicious drinks.
262
00:16:59.519 --> 00:17:02.720
That's why as much hanging taste, twice as much delicious
263
00:17:02.759 --> 00:17:06.200
pepsi to go just twice as far. That's why more
264
00:17:06.240 --> 00:17:10.039
and more families say, why take left when pepsi is best?
265
00:17:10.640 --> 00:17:12.559
Yes, family is like yours and mine.
266
00:17:13.039 --> 00:17:16.839
Family's all over America they're all saying, why take less
267
00:17:17.119 --> 00:17:18.359
when pepsi is bet?
268
00:17:18.759 --> 00:17:22.640
Petty calls.
269
00:17:22.799 --> 00:17:24.400
More and better than the rest?
270
00:17:24.640 --> 00:17:28.680
Why take less when Pety s today tomorrow always get
271
00:17:28.720 --> 00:17:32.400
America's biggest tollerab take home a carton of six big
272
00:17:32.680 --> 00:17:36.599
big pepsi bottles. Insist on pepsi at the store, and
273
00:17:36.799 --> 00:17:40.599
say Pepsi at the fountain, stay Petsy at the stands,
274
00:17:41.079 --> 00:17:44.119
say Pepsi whenever you reach for refreshment.
275
00:17:44.400 --> 00:17:46.799
Remember it. Why take less?
276
00:17:46.920 --> 00:17:48.240
When Pepsy says?
277
00:17:48.920 --> 00:17:51.119
And now back to compass five.
278
00:17:55.680 --> 00:17:58.240
For the golf warehouse is a black mass of people
279
00:17:58.599 --> 00:18:02.200
as three fire companies, the towering plane back of the
280
00:18:02.279 --> 00:18:05.039
fire lines. David hunting in a counter spot for cold
281
00:18:05.079 --> 00:18:08.759
car with these assistant Harry Peters is receiving a report
282
00:18:08.799 --> 00:18:09.400
from another ag.
283
00:18:11.599 --> 00:18:13.640
I was waiting outside the warehouse for Wolf as he
284
00:18:13.720 --> 00:18:16.480
waded about five minutes after he had entered.
285
00:18:16.519 --> 00:18:18.960
I saw the flames. I tried to get in there
286
00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:19.680
to save Wolf.
287
00:18:20.039 --> 00:18:22.759
Snowgull, you better get those runs on your hands, Enery,
288
00:18:22.880 --> 00:18:25.960
Edward fry Sheep, I don't get it. Wilf's wants me
289
00:18:26.039 --> 00:18:28.079
to wear house and fires Minuteslator it goes up like
290
00:18:28.119 --> 00:18:28.599
a mass spot.
291
00:18:28.680 --> 00:18:29.319
Now it's got the.
292
00:18:29.359 --> 00:18:32.599
Fire marshal puzzle tool, dude, and where half was equipped
293
00:18:32.640 --> 00:18:35.599
with every fire preventing device, including a sprinkler system. The
294
00:18:35.680 --> 00:18:39.119
only angle license is that Wolf became panicky. He was
295
00:18:39.160 --> 00:18:41.079
assad we were getting too close, so he decided to
296
00:18:41.079 --> 00:18:43.319
get rid of his books by faking an accidental fire.
297
00:18:43.839 --> 00:18:46.039
But he was trapped in the warehouse. You don't know
298
00:18:46.240 --> 00:18:49.319
he all that the possibility, Peters. But there's also a
299
00:18:49.400 --> 00:18:52.359
possibility that Wolf got out by a rear exit. We
300
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:54.240
should have had an agent at that rear ector. Yes,
301
00:18:54.279 --> 00:18:56.839
but Dad, you agree with me about the books yes, Peter's,
302
00:18:56.880 --> 00:18:59.160
but I'm holding off any other speculation until we get
303
00:18:59.160 --> 00:18:59.880
a laboratory on.
304
00:18:59.880 --> 00:19:17.000
That hoss of that fire. Come in, Darling, I can
305
00:19:17.079 --> 00:19:20.400
only stand minute I told you together going for short walk,
306
00:19:21.279 --> 00:19:23.279
he said, you told me everything right according to plan,
307
00:19:24.359 --> 00:19:27.240
almost if you could say to the purpose. It was
308
00:19:27.599 --> 00:19:31.200
enough for us, but not for de Tree. I don't
309
00:19:31.279 --> 00:19:31.839
understand you.
310
00:19:32.359 --> 00:19:34.519
I told you I'm going to build that five thousand
311
00:19:34.599 --> 00:19:40.000
dollars into one hundred thousand. Remember, in that fire tonight,
312
00:19:40.279 --> 00:19:42.720
Dietrich got only one of the two things he wanted
313
00:19:43.440 --> 00:19:49.960
Wolf's best. Unfortunately the second thing, the account book. They
314
00:19:50.000 --> 00:19:53.559
were not furned in the flame. That you mean, I
315
00:19:53.680 --> 00:19:55.400
removed the account books from the warehouse.
316
00:19:56.039 --> 00:19:57.880
They are now right here in my closet.
317
00:19:58.799 --> 00:20:03.319
Oh been a crime to destroy them for only five
318
00:20:03.440 --> 00:20:09.359
thousand dollars after all? Mean that starts valuable documents, really accurd,
319
00:20:09.480 --> 00:20:10.720
don't you agree, darly y?
320
00:20:11.559 --> 00:20:15.039
Yes? Did you could say anything to get return on
321
00:20:15.160 --> 00:20:19.720
the book. One hundred thousand will be enough. We mustn't
322
00:20:19.759 --> 00:20:24.359
be pea gre till unful.
323
00:20:26.680 --> 00:20:29.240
I mean, I can hardly wait to see car detrict
324
00:20:29.279 --> 00:20:31.640
space when I take him. The price is one one
325
00:20:31.720 --> 00:20:42.519
hundred thousand dollars one hundred thousand dollars and well worth surprise, Detrie,
326
00:20:42.599 --> 00:20:42.880
don't you.
327
00:20:42.920 --> 00:20:47.839
Think one hundred thousand dollars? Back? Men? And to think
328
00:20:47.880 --> 00:20:49.119
I want fuss that you got?
329
00:20:49.240 --> 00:20:52.920
Oh, we all make mistakes, dedrict, some more more expensive
330
00:20:53.039 --> 00:20:53.960
mistakes than others.
331
00:20:54.720 --> 00:20:57.240
Yours will cost you one hundred thousand dollars.
332
00:20:57.960 --> 00:21:00.440
And what if I don't say? How can you afford
333
00:21:00.519 --> 00:21:03.799
not to pay? But illicit trading business is worth millions
334
00:21:03.839 --> 00:21:06.880
of dollars to them? Why should you jeopardize it? For
335
00:21:07.000 --> 00:21:12.640
about three hundred thousand? And Julie needs Friday. I shall
336
00:21:12.720 --> 00:21:14.759
give you one to the Thursday to deliver the money.
337
00:21:21.880 --> 00:21:24.079
I've got the message a field off the side of way.
338
00:21:24.359 --> 00:21:27.079
What's up the laboratory analysis? All that fire is ready
339
00:21:27.119 --> 00:21:30.559
for us feed. First, that warehouse was set a blade
340
00:21:30.599 --> 00:21:32.319
by probably the cleverest.
341
00:21:31.960 --> 00:21:32.960
Artness in the business.
342
00:21:34.559 --> 00:21:37.319
Next, the flames spread quickly because of oil in the
343
00:21:37.359 --> 00:21:40.480
warehouse at Black Snowton. We did spent last night. But
344
00:21:40.559 --> 00:21:43.920
here's something we didn't get. Our chemists found globules of
345
00:21:44.039 --> 00:21:48.599
kerosene oil in the sprinkler system pipes and valves. Sprinkle
346
00:21:48.640 --> 00:21:51.000
system is apparently loaded with kerouthene in full of water
347
00:21:52.039 --> 00:21:54.880
as the laborate instructure. The archemist started the small fire
348
00:21:54.960 --> 00:21:56.920
in the rear of the warehouse. The heat open the
349
00:21:56.960 --> 00:22:00.119
sprinkler'sums and the terracine to tear the rest drive a
350
00:22:00.200 --> 00:22:03.359
real profession of jobs and all abound. Wolf traces of
351
00:22:03.480 --> 00:22:05.839
human boom were found in the ruins. There's no doubt
352
00:22:05.920 --> 00:22:08.920
Wolf died in that fire. As a good possibility he
353
00:22:09.039 --> 00:22:12.160
was murdered. Yes, might have been convenient that he stick
354
00:22:12.200 --> 00:22:14.880
to get Wolf out of the very convenient Diadrick would
355
00:22:14.920 --> 00:22:17.680
be burning two birds with one man. We can't pick
356
00:22:17.759 --> 00:22:20.480
Patrick up on that rap. She's according to our reports,
357
00:22:20.519 --> 00:22:22.559
he was in his hotel room all even as I know.
358
00:22:22.880 --> 00:22:23.319
But there's a.
359
00:22:25.680 --> 00:22:29.880
Hiding eight twelve reporting. Go ahead, J Twell, Nina Campbell,
360
00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:31.599
let's the room at the Tremont Hotel.
361
00:22:32.200 --> 00:22:34.599
He's now visiting room nine oh seven at the hotel.
362
00:22:34.680 --> 00:22:37.319
Sergeant, Okay, J Twell, let me have a full report
363
00:22:37.359 --> 00:22:41.519
when Nina Campbell returns for the sergeant right Eni Campo
364
00:22:42.119 --> 00:22:45.559
hotel Sergeant, what's not about this? Headrick's secretary, Anina Campbell
365
00:22:45.720 --> 00:22:47.160
left the hotel last night.
366
00:22:47.279 --> 00:22:49.279
It is I think maybe seas you want to put
367
00:22:49.319 --> 00:22:50.279
the torch in the warehouse.
368
00:22:50.680 --> 00:22:53.440
No, Nina Campbell walked out of her hotel at eleven,
369
00:22:53.519 --> 00:22:55.960
almost an hour after the fire began. But you go
370
00:22:56.359 --> 00:22:58.680
the same place where she is now, room nine o
371
00:22:58.920 --> 00:23:01.799
seven in the hotel, Progeant. And because the occupant of
372
00:23:01.920 --> 00:23:05.440
nine oh seven is a man named Grass, grunts and
373
00:23:05.559 --> 00:23:07.480
take up call who arrived in New York Sunday on
374
00:23:07.519 --> 00:23:10.319
a plane for Argentina. And maybe Grasses the firebugs. It
375
00:23:10.400 --> 00:23:14.039
could be there's no one Ya twelve got into the
376
00:23:14.079 --> 00:23:16.599
room next to here. He overheard Nino Campo and Grass
377
00:23:16.640 --> 00:23:17.920
making arrangements.
378
00:23:17.480 --> 00:23:18.000
To meet there.
379
00:23:18.079 --> 00:23:20.240
The chaplain again, Oh glad.
380
00:23:20.119 --> 00:23:22.039
We haven't got a detectaphone in there, said he have.
381
00:23:22.319 --> 00:23:25.160
I hadn't installed this morning. Oh I might have known.
382
00:23:25.480 --> 00:23:28.240
He didn't answers to hear the recording of the conversation
383
00:23:28.359 --> 00:23:29.680
between Grass and Nina Campbell.
384
00:23:29.720 --> 00:23:31.640
And there's no telling what interesting.
385
00:23:31.319 --> 00:23:32.960
Things those two are saying to each other.
386
00:23:38.200 --> 00:23:40.359
What did he see me? Now, you'll get your money
387
00:23:40.359 --> 00:23:43.680
to naow glass cool. That's very sensible of the tree. Now,
388
00:23:43.839 --> 00:23:49.640
it's wonderful to see in scram Grass. Are the books
389
00:23:49.640 --> 00:23:52.440
still in that closet? Yes, of course, Why well, they
390
00:23:52.519 --> 00:23:55.960
need too much to us. I was concerned about your leading.
391
00:23:55.960 --> 00:24:00.240
Here they're perfectly safely now you could never tell men
392
00:24:00.279 --> 00:24:01.799
I except myself.
393
00:24:01.720 --> 00:24:04.440
Only one person knows where those botan. And I can
394
00:24:04.519 --> 00:24:14.839
trust you can of course always Harby Dave's record winds
395
00:24:14.880 --> 00:24:15.359
in the course.
396
00:24:15.960 --> 00:24:18.559
Not quite. Aren't you ever satisfied? Yes?
397
00:24:18.759 --> 00:24:20.160
When I am sure the people.
398
00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:22.640
Like grasping deeper get what they deserve, the electric care
399
00:24:22.960 --> 00:24:25.880
and what's next? Walk up the ground? The thing he
400
00:24:25.920 --> 00:24:27.119
feels that, I mean a campo?
401
00:24:27.480 --> 00:24:29.960
What do you mean with something God said? In this camp?
402
00:24:30.119 --> 00:24:30.400
He said?
403
00:24:31.279 --> 00:24:32.359
And I can trust you?
404
00:24:32.799 --> 00:24:35.599
Can't you think I have an idol of God? Stay
405
00:24:35.720 --> 00:24:47.799
in this temple is going to be sadly twisted. And
406
00:24:47.960 --> 00:24:54.599
then God, you hasn't brought the books to the God?
407
00:24:56.359 --> 00:24:58.480
I haven't ann lever, But you want to bring the boat?
408
00:24:59.200 --> 00:25:03.400
I brought this instead? Do you expect the contrast with
409
00:25:03.480 --> 00:25:03.799
the gun?
410
00:25:05.240 --> 00:25:07.440
Oh right, talk about it in the other room.
411
00:25:07.880 --> 00:25:08.319
Live along.
412
00:25:09.720 --> 00:25:10.440
I will.
413
00:25:17.480 --> 00:25:25.640
Thank you? Right you say Elsina Temples by very she
414
00:25:27.559 --> 00:25:30.039
in the next room. Tell her to come in here.
415
00:25:30.680 --> 00:25:32.960
What had she to do with it? This gun can
416
00:25:33.039 --> 00:25:33.960
do ugly damage.
417
00:25:34.880 --> 00:25:36.359
Tell Mina Temple to come in here?
418
00:25:38.880 --> 00:25:42.559
When I how many appease?
419
00:25:43.440 --> 00:25:43.920
Not away?
420
00:25:45.160 --> 00:25:47.400
Really gods, what is it all about? Because if she
421
00:25:47.599 --> 00:25:52.880
didn't know where I was taken about, I got the
422
00:25:52.960 --> 00:25:56.640
gun too. You know, I don't understand you can stop
423
00:25:56.720 --> 00:25:57.599
us from both of them.
424
00:25:58.920 --> 00:25:59.839
Got a matter of gros.
425
00:26:00.519 --> 00:26:04.480
You know you really had me food every minute you
426
00:26:04.599 --> 00:26:05.160
spent with you.
427
00:26:05.319 --> 00:26:08.720
That for him better. I don't know what they're talking
428
00:26:08.759 --> 00:26:13.519
about over time. I don't understand.
429
00:26:14.319 --> 00:26:18.759
Where are they enough say the book won't accumbers around
430
00:26:18.759 --> 00:26:20.400
you fold from because of my hotel room.
431
00:26:20.839 --> 00:26:24.440
I didn't. You must believe me. I didn't a nice scheel.
432
00:26:24.720 --> 00:26:27.480
You took tab me enough, using me to keep tabs
433
00:26:27.480 --> 00:26:28.319
on me very clever.
434
00:26:29.440 --> 00:26:31.359
You didn't see those good You're the only one who
435
00:26:31.400 --> 00:26:34.279
knew fever rare. That's why you were so runy yesterday.
436
00:26:34.319 --> 00:26:36.599
You were afraid I couldn't be somewhere else. And when
437
00:26:36.640 --> 00:26:38.119
I was old this morning, you came into my room.
438
00:26:38.240 --> 00:26:43.640
That's your truth. Tell him Tell him I haven't left
439
00:26:43.759 --> 00:26:49.559
you all day, but he did. Do you know I
440
00:26:49.640 --> 00:26:54.359
hadn't got to you Tell him the trouvement to Ditrich mean,
441
00:26:54.480 --> 00:26:58.559
mine left the hotel this morning and was gone for
442
00:26:58.720 --> 00:27:02.640
an hour. It's they kill me.
443
00:27:02.839 --> 00:27:07.400
Water pity trick. It's a pity for bolt to lose
444
00:27:07.480 --> 00:27:09.359
me Glass, I have nothing to do with it. The
445
00:27:09.440 --> 00:27:11.839
door quite new to me. Even then I was played
446
00:27:11.839 --> 00:27:14.720
a boat for fool over a bet. You're both going
447
00:27:14.799 --> 00:27:20.759
to die. God, Oh I'm not going to shoot. I'm afectious.
448
00:27:20.920 --> 00:27:26.240
Remember I do empire. Betch you and me now will
449
00:27:26.319 --> 00:27:31.920
have the same accident. It's disposed of rules. It is
450
00:27:32.039 --> 00:27:35.319
metal tube and in dangerous. All I do is remove
451
00:27:35.359 --> 00:27:37.680
the cup and love the floor from the outside. In
452
00:27:37.759 --> 00:27:39.680
no time at all will be over for you. Cool,
453
00:27:40.519 --> 00:27:41.839
stop that gun, Glass, never.
454
00:27:45.000 --> 00:27:56.720
And carriage gone to this. Besides, look a killer and
455
00:27:57.000 --> 00:28:00.279
heaven you are right, whoever you are. Bet, I don't
456
00:28:00.279 --> 00:28:02.319
think you'll like who we are and what this is.
457
00:28:02.440 --> 00:28:06.000

461
00:28:13.480 --> 00:28:16.079

462
00:28:16.119 --> 00:28:18.799
idea that their sudden absence would provide the evidence I
463
00:28:18.880 --> 00:28:21.839
wanted than it did. Evidence Grants that will finish both

is yet presented.

Than the pin and used it to escape, and the
485
00:29:38.799 --> 00:29:43.119
extraordinary half man who had enough courage for two ordinary men.
486
00:29:44.160 --> 00:29:45.680
You got to be tuned in on Thursday.

After Tomorrow two days are the curatus come on on
488
00:29:50.000 --> 00:29:58.279
counter Fire then Counterspy program originated in New York, was
489
00:29:58.319 --> 00:30:01.759
directed by Leonard L. Bass, by Edward Day Adamson and
490
00:30:02.240 --> 00:30:05.759
Don McLaughlan and Mandel Kramer, with Musich by Densie Crawford.
491
00:30:06.319 --> 00:30:10.880
Counter Spy as the Senetate lawn production for Petticola, employing
492
00:30:10.960 --> 00:30:11.519
from Petsy.
493
00:30:11.759 --> 00:30:28.279
I told Tonight, well, a.
494
00:30:28.400 --> 00:30:33.480
Really fun story, and kudos to Phillips Lord for having
495
00:30:33.759 --> 00:30:40.960
a reasonable counter intelligence reason for them to investigate, because
496
00:30:41.039 --> 00:30:48.559
certainly the illegal shipping of potential war supplies would be
497
00:30:48.680 --> 00:30:52.599
a job for counter spy, even if the typical ARSON
498
00:30:52.720 --> 00:30:55.079
case would not. And of course this was not a
499
00:30:55.359 --> 00:31:00.680
typical Arson. This was big, very very big, and I
500
00:31:01.160 --> 00:31:04.960
loved it for that, even though it would probably not
501
00:31:05.400 --> 00:31:09.720
be a plausible ARSON method. For one thing, if you're
502
00:31:09.839 --> 00:31:14.720
looking at a wet pop sprinkler system, it was either
503
00:31:14.880 --> 00:31:19.680
connected to a dedicated water source or douce city water.
504
00:31:20.920 --> 00:31:25.319
In regardless, you would probably need a truck for all
505
00:31:25.400 --> 00:31:30.359
the kerosene, hundreds of gallons of kerosene to replace the
506
00:31:30.480 --> 00:31:34.799
water supply, if not thousands. And that's before you even
507
00:31:34.920 --> 00:31:38.640
get into whether it would work a like counter spy says,
508
00:31:39.079 --> 00:31:43.119
but it is not to imagine and you don't need
509
00:31:43.200 --> 00:31:47.000
to worry about an effects budget on radio listener comments
510
00:31:47.079 --> 00:31:50.960
and feedback now and we have a comment from Lawrence
511
00:31:51.079 --> 00:31:56.480
Comming via email regarding the second part of the Cold
512
00:31:56.559 --> 00:31:59.720
Blooded Professor. Hi Adam just wanted to mention that the
513
00:31:59.759 --> 00:32:03.960
care of Professor Emery Horn was probably the most despicable
514
00:32:04.079 --> 00:32:07.519
villain that I've ever heard on Old time radio. I
515
00:32:07.680 --> 00:32:09.839
was more than happy to see him get his come
516
00:32:09.920 --> 00:32:13.759
upance in part two of this story continued success. Well,
517
00:32:13.799 --> 00:32:18.319
that's so much. We have run into some really despicable
518
00:32:18.400 --> 00:32:22.839
people over the years through all the various podcasts that
519
00:32:23.079 --> 00:32:28.640
we've done, whether talking about Superman, Fright Detectives, what have you,
520
00:32:29.160 --> 00:32:31.920
or you can think about even some of the villains
521
00:32:32.039 --> 00:32:36.759
we've had, like a Taia in the Trzan series on
522
00:32:37.319 --> 00:32:41.079
Tuesdays on The Great Adventurers. I do think there's something
523
00:32:41.200 --> 00:32:45.079
in Ralph Bell's performance that makes it stand out. It's
524
00:32:45.279 --> 00:32:51.319
almost as if he doesn't play Horn like a pulp
525
00:32:51.480 --> 00:32:56.160
villain and instead has a bit more grounded and dare
526
00:32:56.240 --> 00:33:02.079
I say realistic feeling that makes it feel extra sadistic
527
00:33:02.680 --> 00:33:05.039
and cruel. And I do think that with a title
528
00:33:05.240 --> 00:33:09.640
like the cold Blooded Professor. That's what they were going for. Then,
529
00:33:09.839 --> 00:33:15.759
on a completely different note regarding part one, random Spotify
530
00:33:15.880 --> 00:33:19.279
user rights true story or not, this is such a
531
00:33:19.359 --> 00:33:22.440
great episode to think about. A disguise so far in
532
00:33:22.519 --> 00:33:26.079
advance is such a great idea. I'm taking notes now
533
00:33:26.279 --> 00:33:28.960
in case I turned to a life of crime. Well,
534
00:33:29.559 --> 00:33:33.559
I will say as a disclosure, I think it's safe
535
00:33:33.640 --> 00:33:37.240
to say that Professor Horn did kind of choose to
536
00:33:37.319 --> 00:33:40.920
do things the hard way. All right, Well, thanks so much,
537
00:33:40.960 --> 00:33:44.599
appreciate the comment. Now it's time to thank or Patreon

To night.
21
00:01:54.560 --> 00:01:58.400
The Case of the Arrogant Arsonists. Another Counterspy report to
22
00:01:58.480 --> 00:02:02.799
the American people a few weeks Tuesday and Thursday by Pepsicola.
23
00:02:06.200 --> 00:02:08.400
That's a lot, that's right. You heard what they said.
24
00:02:08.520 --> 00:02:11.919
Two full glasses of sparkling Petsi from one big twelve
25
00:02:11.919 --> 00:02:14.960
ounce bottle. You're getting an extra glass ball. And what
26
00:02:15.120 --> 00:02:18.680
a delicious glass ball. The most refreshing, delightful cola that
27
00:02:18.840 --> 00:02:22.360
ever tickled your tape. You can't top Pepsi's hanging flavors.
28
00:02:22.639 --> 00:02:25.599
And that big, big bottle saves your money goes twice
29
00:02:25.639 --> 00:02:30.280
as far. Petsi's America is big, big favorite and America's
30
00:02:30.319 --> 00:02:34.360
biggest solar value. So why take less when Petsi's best.
31
00:02:34.960 --> 00:02:37.560
Whenever you read for refreshments, remember.
32
00:02:38.039 --> 00:02:42.960
Why take last? When PETSI bet and now the counterspire.
33
00:02:54.560 --> 00:02:57.319
One of the most despicable of all times is the
34
00:02:57.400 --> 00:03:01.479
malicious setting of fire. Violence of all criminals is a
35
00:03:01.560 --> 00:03:05.400
professional arsonist. We go back some years to a winter
36
00:03:05.520 --> 00:03:11.280
evening in Berlin, Germany. Two men stand back from a
37
00:03:11.360 --> 00:03:14.439
cloud watching the fireman fighter hopeless battle against the flame
38
00:03:14.599 --> 00:03:18.599
swiftly devouring the large building. A small man smiled proudly
39
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:20.879
and turned to his uniform companions.
40
00:03:21.520 --> 00:03:28.439
Exquisite am to be prist? Yes, scratch, very beautiful, a.
41
00:03:28.599 --> 00:03:32.719
Wonderful thing, a dance like a lovely girl of abelly.
42
00:03:32.960 --> 00:03:36.360
Right the night will be a turning point in his history.
43
00:03:36.680 --> 00:03:38.800
I have no interesting history, mister d six.
44
00:03:39.319 --> 00:03:42.759
I'm an artist. He go with good business. Then how
45
00:03:42.759 --> 00:03:44.919
does my work is done? There's a matter of the
46
00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:46.240
fifty thousands mark.
47
00:03:46.439 --> 00:03:49.680
You have earned your money work when you put the
48
00:03:49.800 --> 00:03:53.280
talks to the right suck you took at a flaming
49
00:03:53.520 --> 00:03:56.159
simple that will raided for you is to come.
50
00:04:03.759 --> 00:04:08.199
That was February twenty seventh, nineteen thirty three, the infamous
51
00:04:08.280 --> 00:04:12.080
Wife Dog fire in Berlin. Now, though Hitler's Germany has
52
00:04:12.120 --> 00:04:16.000
since been fruged, parts of that fire still smolder for
53
00:04:16.120 --> 00:04:19.519
greed and ruthlessness. But started it still survive and flurish.
54
00:04:20.680 --> 00:04:24.160
Three weeks ago, and Tangier in North Africa, Carl Dietrich,
55
00:04:24.519 --> 00:04:28.600
Bill Tom still arrogance waited in his sumptuous office.
56
00:04:33.360 --> 00:04:35.800
Your phone called the work in New York's leading Ditch
57
00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:42.240
Thanglain man, Hello, welf be good. Did did you get
58
00:04:42.319 --> 00:04:43.000
my message?
59
00:04:43.079 --> 00:04:43.680
Mister Detrix?
60
00:04:44.000 --> 00:04:46.399
Yes, this company properly.
61
00:04:46.680 --> 00:04:46.879
Ah.
62
00:04:47.079 --> 00:04:49.600
Then I'll go right ahead and destroy these house books.
63
00:04:49.600 --> 00:04:51.399
As I said to the message, you'll do nothing of
64
00:04:51.480 --> 00:04:51.920
the kind.
65
00:04:52.120 --> 00:04:55.560
But what's mister Dietrich. The federal grand jury meets here
66
00:04:55.600 --> 00:04:57.279
in New York at the end of next week. They're
67
00:04:57.279 --> 00:05:02.480
going to investigate all exporting couples. They'll subpoenaur books. They'll
68
00:05:02.519 --> 00:05:06.319
have a record of all the transax But don't you see,
69
00:05:06.399 --> 00:05:08.800
they'll find out that my exporting company is just a
70
00:05:09.319 --> 00:05:12.480
tell me for supplying your combine with potential war materials.
71
00:05:12.600 --> 00:05:16.879
Don't so what can you do, mister, drip your thousands
72
00:05:16.879 --> 00:05:17.600
of miles away.
73
00:05:18.720 --> 00:05:19.439
I'll be ruined.
74
00:05:19.519 --> 00:05:22.120
I'll kill myself before I.
75
00:05:22.199 --> 00:05:23.120
Let them put me in jail.
76
00:05:23.600 --> 00:05:28.079
Stop talking like an idiot. I'll handle everything. I'm taking
77
00:05:28.120 --> 00:05:29.720
the first plane. When you're all.
78
00:05:47.399 --> 00:05:52.160
We talk about your session immediately urgent cold radio Brando
79
00:05:52.360 --> 00:05:53.480
receipt from Tangier.
80
00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:06.879
All right, that measures the Channel four. Justice Peter returned
81
00:06:08.879 --> 00:06:10.480
the electronic Ya Cooders.
82
00:06:10.120 --> 00:06:11.680
The laboratory, boycause I looked certain the.
83
00:06:11.680 --> 00:06:13.360
Same time, and we have to record in a hurry.
84
00:06:16.480 --> 00:06:17.839
It started from the beginning.
85
00:06:18.560 --> 00:06:22.439
Agent ropes from counters by transmitter l S four, Tangier,
86
00:06:22.600 --> 00:06:27.519
North Africa to Haunting headquarters, Washington. Carl Diatrick and his
87
00:06:27.680 --> 00:06:32.560
secretary Nina Campbell left here by plane fifteen hundred Tangier times.
88
00:06:33.199 --> 00:06:37.879
According to Passport, their destination is New York. Investigation Joe's
89
00:06:37.920 --> 00:06:42.120
dietricks at Podger with Hasty and Unexpected. It followed an
90
00:06:42.160 --> 00:06:44.040
overseas bone call with New York.
91
00:06:44.920 --> 00:06:47.680
That is all that Tippy pasts along the great mind
92
00:06:47.839 --> 00:06:50.279
Eric Wolf in New York would today looks that way.
93
00:06:50.920 --> 00:06:53.600
He's Sidney pig Wolf of the jittery time. He's now
94
00:06:53.639 --> 00:06:56.439
strubbling right away. He sent for proper Dietrichs. That was
95
00:06:56.439 --> 00:06:59.920
a smart stent if to put Wolf into questioning more
96
00:07:00.160 --> 00:07:02.199
cog in ditrict set of peters. I mean, just the
97
00:07:02.279 --> 00:07:04.839
man who ships the supply into the Marshall Plan countries.
98
00:07:05.199 --> 00:07:08.959
You want the big boys. Yeah, it's Ducrek who engineers
99
00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:11.360
the trick, is getting such war potential items as oil,
100
00:07:11.600 --> 00:07:15.240
steel and chemicals tranship to his customers and nations outside
101
00:07:15.279 --> 00:07:15.639
the marcall.
102
00:07:15.680 --> 00:07:18.000
Flanns, Well, it looks like we'll be able to lead
103
00:07:18.040 --> 00:07:19.000
in the big station now.
104
00:07:19.279 --> 00:07:22.839
Yeah, as long as District was operating from me Tangier headquarters,
105
00:07:22.879 --> 00:07:24.319
he was out of our reach. Now all we have
106
00:07:24.439 --> 00:07:26.399
to do is nail him when he steps off the plane.
107
00:07:26.199 --> 00:07:26.600
In New York.
108
00:07:26.839 --> 00:07:30.639
Well, I'm not having ditrict pick up theaters. Yet Ditrich
109
00:07:30.680 --> 00:07:33.279
is the food operator. We need direct evidence against him,
110
00:07:33.639 --> 00:07:35.319
so we go to New York here, that's why Peters.
111
00:07:35.439 --> 00:07:37.319
They go to New York and we stand by until
112
00:07:37.360 --> 00:07:39.519
Dietrich and wolf give us the evidence.
113
00:07:39.240 --> 00:07:49.800
We want a twelve mister hiding New York Field office.
114
00:07:49.720 --> 00:07:52.720
Go ahead, j twelve Patrick and secretary.
115
00:07:52.279 --> 00:07:56.279
In the compo registered at Hotel Tremont Reach eighteen o
116
00:07:56.480 --> 00:07:57.839
three and eighteen o four.
117
00:07:58.680 --> 00:08:00.720
Eric Wolfe was waiting for I'm in lobby.
118
00:08:01.240 --> 00:08:04.600
The three have got and Ditrick sweet than at all?
119
00:08:12.160 --> 00:08:15.800
Well you've jn us in the drink, don't Yeah, no, no,
120
00:08:16.079 --> 00:08:20.639
thank you, mister d You need you drunk or the usual,
121
00:08:20.720 --> 00:08:25.680
mister mister Dietrich. The grand jury convenes at the end
122
00:08:25.720 --> 00:08:26.360
of the week.
123
00:08:26.279 --> 00:08:29.800
As oh no, ha ha, how can you be so calm?
124
00:08:30.360 --> 00:08:33.039
I haven't calm. Make that I won't have a chance
125
00:08:33.200 --> 00:08:36.879
my books, so they'll expose everything. I'll be finished. Something's
126
00:08:36.919 --> 00:08:39.080
got to be done. You've got to stoves me, mister.
127
00:08:40.240 --> 00:08:44.840
I haven't said, well, better got than whining? You got drinking?
128
00:08:44.960 --> 00:08:45.480
No thank you?
129
00:08:47.159 --> 00:08:50.080
Well, don't you realize I have as much to louse
130
00:08:50.159 --> 00:08:53.600
as you have more? You think I ran the work
131
00:08:53.600 --> 00:08:57.240
of coming here just for pleasure. I have millions of plates.
132
00:08:57.440 --> 00:09:00.679
But if our account books are taken before the hour.
133
00:09:00.799 --> 00:09:06.240
Help me worry about those books for uh that should
134
00:09:06.240 --> 00:09:06.720
be dropt.
135
00:09:07.559 --> 00:09:12.240
Gentlemen, I'm expected you know that a mentor thought, mister
136
00:09:12.320 --> 00:09:18.759

137
00:09:18.600 --> 00:09:21.039
That door of the forty or souls and say it.
138
00:09:21.159 --> 00:09:23.039
Is not yet.
139
00:09:30.320 --> 00:09:36.759
Onely not God, I'm comman, Why just no wl it.

144
00:09:49.759 --> 00:09:50.320
Charted like this.
145
00:09:50.799 --> 00:09:53.159
Yeah, how long do I have to go on working
146
00:09:53.200 --> 00:09:53.919
for dj E?
147
00:09:54.159 --> 00:09:56.480
You took the job with Ditric so we'd have inside
148
00:09:56.519 --> 00:09:58.200
information on anything, especially court.
149
00:09:58.320 --> 00:10:01.240
But that's wrong with you knowing about sing Dietrich wouldn't
150
00:10:01.240 --> 00:10:01.600
trust you.
151
00:10:02.159 --> 00:10:03.919
If we're going to get what we want, we must
152
00:10:03.960 --> 00:10:07.080
have complete faces. You mean no darn and I promise
153
00:10:07.159 --> 00:10:09.039
you after this deed you'll have enough money to be
154
00:10:09.080 --> 00:10:12.320
free up Dietrit forever. Now help me with these overalls.
155
00:10:12.360 --> 00:10:22.639
I better get inside, oh Rots the man.
156
00:10:24.799 --> 00:10:28.759
One of the reason, mister wolf Gra it's the roof
157
00:10:29.159 --> 00:10:30.559
a pleasure.
158
00:10:31.039 --> 00:10:33.919
Oh my old when grass going to attend to your
159
00:10:33.960 --> 00:10:36.799
account book, you're going to destroy them.
160
00:10:37.000 --> 00:10:38.600
We destroyable.
161
00:10:39.120 --> 00:10:41.000
But if you give us a way to sensoy yourself.
162
00:10:42.240 --> 00:10:45.039
I believe you have a supply of carouthine or own
163
00:10:45.159 --> 00:10:47.519
hand and your aware hud a yes.
164
00:10:47.679 --> 00:10:48.960
For export next week.
165
00:10:49.200 --> 00:10:53.240
That kerouthine is not going to be exported. Not well,
166
00:10:53.399 --> 00:10:57.399
warehouses going up and smoke. I have grats come up
167
00:10:57.440 --> 00:11:02.000
from Argentina, especially for the resignment grass specializer than fires.
168
00:11:02.320 --> 00:11:05.639
I start us my masterpiece, the more mon wilf.
169
00:11:05.440 --> 00:11:08.200
That will visit you at your ward. You will hold
170
00:11:08.240 --> 00:11:09.919
of an insurance inspect you.
171
00:11:09.919 --> 00:11:12.320
Will show me through and that will sellect the best way.
172
00:11:12.200 --> 00:11:16.240
To approach the problem. After next well you're awares will
173
00:11:16.279 --> 00:11:17.080
be destroyed.
174
00:11:18.720 --> 00:11:24.159
I'm su accident, But mister, what if they find out
175
00:11:24.240 --> 00:11:25.480
it isn't an accident?
176
00:11:26.240 --> 00:11:29.879
Wolf, I han't got an imperfectionist.
177
00:11:31.240 --> 00:11:35.240
When I create an accidental fire, believe me it's accidental.
178
00:11:42.559 --> 00:11:44.679
It is in patrol car through the honey in York
179
00:11:44.720 --> 00:11:47.879
food office. Go ahead, Peter, It's just a lot of
180
00:11:47.879 --> 00:11:49.879
the hotel set it visited.
181
00:11:49.960 --> 00:11:53.159
Be different an hour, I Peter, have day twelve people
182
00:11:53.159 --> 00:11:53.879
on wolf's trail.
183
00:11:55.120 --> 00:11:57.519
Also tell day nine to take both of Didric when
184
00:11:57.559 --> 00:11:58.600
an easy leaves the hotel.
185
00:11:58.679 --> 00:12:01.600
And one more thing, Peter h I find a man
186
00:12:01.679 --> 00:12:05.039
that shadow Ditric secretary. I'm curious to see where Nina
187
00:12:05.159 --> 00:12:14.279
Campbell fits into this picture. Good. I waited for the
188
00:12:14.720 --> 00:12:16.279
into your hotel. What happened now?
189
00:12:16.480 --> 00:12:18.159
I work as works were hot to longer than I
190
00:12:18.240 --> 00:12:20.240
expected that. I was going to call you here at
191
00:12:20.279 --> 00:12:22.320
your hotel, but I didn't want to take a chance
192
00:12:22.360 --> 00:12:24.200
with Dietrick around it. It becoming out of a living
193
00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:26.559
in in a minute, since I want to know something
194
00:12:27.000 --> 00:12:30.159
anything dollars until last night, but after this you.
195
00:12:30.200 --> 00:12:33.759
Will be screw up him. I promise und a five
196
00:12:33.840 --> 00:12:36.919
thousand dollars, telling that's not enough money for us to
197
00:12:36.960 --> 00:12:38.159
get away, and little.
198
00:12:40.000 --> 00:12:43.320
I have a friend, you know a plan that will
199
00:12:43.360 --> 00:12:46.720
build that five thousand into one hundred thousands.
200
00:12:48.639 --> 00:12:55.879
All right, hello, to give your wedding dollars? Did the
201
00:12:56.200 --> 00:13:01.600

202
00:13:01.679 --> 00:13:02.919

203
00:13:04.039 --> 00:13:12.200
B miss companies only panting to be a span. Well
204
00:13:12.279 --> 00:13:14.600
that's how did your inspection of goal? Excellent?
205
00:13:14.799 --> 00:13:15.159
Excellent?
206
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:17.080
No, I'm going back to the wahouse tonight to prepare
207
00:13:17.080 --> 00:13:20.600
for tomorrow weekning and Wolf understand what was party to
208
00:13:20.679 --> 00:13:21.559
be perfectly.
209
00:13:21.919 --> 00:13:25.759
I don't want into mister trick.
210
00:13:26.080 --> 00:13:27.840
There'll be no mistakes tomorrow night.
211
00:13:28.759 --> 00:13:30.559
Everything we go according.
212
00:13:30.200 --> 00:13:43.240
To Plants on the radio telephone with a report for
213
00:13:43.399 --> 00:13:47.840
I'm going it's hiding relay J twelve and on Thicky five.
214
00:13:49.600 --> 00:13:53.559
To twelve, car four reporting harding ahead J twelve. Well,
215
00:13:53.720 --> 00:13:54.720
let's his apartment at.
216
00:13:54.720 --> 00:13:57.960
Nine pm and drove around town for fifteen minutes. You
217
00:13:58.080 --> 00:14:01.159
got punched his car out that it's where he's been
218
00:14:01.200 --> 00:14:06.440
sitting there about Wait a second, what is it he
219
00:14:06.559 --> 00:14:07.440
got out of his car.
220
00:14:09.320 --> 00:14:12.200
Now he's opening the warehouse door and going in.
221
00:14:12.519 --> 00:14:14.759
Well, San Patrick, well don't follow him in. I don't
222
00:14:14.759 --> 00:14:15.399
want to scare him.
223
00:14:15.679 --> 00:14:16.960
He is Nie on her way down.
224
00:14:18.240 --> 00:14:20.679
This may be you think was going in with warehouse
225
00:14:20.720 --> 00:14:23.399
for his wickards be hopefully I expected him to react.
226
00:14:23.559 --> 00:14:25.440
If he does take those books out, he may deliver
227
00:14:25.519 --> 00:14:26.120
them the ditric.
228
00:14:26.279 --> 00:14:46.039
Let's go cos all I hear work.
229
00:14:46.279 --> 00:14:47.200
Never be a door.
230
00:14:50.320 --> 00:14:51.240
For three minutes.
231
00:14:51.320 --> 00:14:54.440
Spl I waited outside the little birds.
232
00:14:54.600 --> 00:14:56.399
He told him to make sure I wasn't seen coming
233
00:14:56.399 --> 00:14:56.720
in here.
234
00:14:58.279 --> 00:15:03.720
Everything of course amazing, how simp came it to be succised,
235
00:15:03.799 --> 00:15:04.960
such difficult problems.
236
00:15:05.639 --> 00:15:07.919
But I'd never get out of this a little soon
237
00:15:08.039 --> 00:15:09.919
my ways would The other three is.
238
00:15:10.399 --> 00:15:14.799
Mister b Tris is a remarkable gentleman. Haven't we better
239
00:15:14.840 --> 00:15:17.000
get over to the kerosine drum so you can start
240
00:15:17.039 --> 00:15:20.559
the fire file will start right here with this pile
241
00:15:20.600 --> 00:15:23.200
of excelsior. What's the kerosine at the other end of
242
00:15:23.279 --> 00:15:25.200
the building and near the office where you a comfort
243
00:15:25.320 --> 00:15:27.960
car glad who can't take a chance the fireman may't
244
00:15:27.960 --> 00:15:29.080
get you get the file out?
245
00:15:29.120 --> 00:15:32.320
If get that, I told you will. I'm a perfectionist.
246
00:15:33.080 --> 00:15:35.039
Nothing and save this warehouse once.
247
00:15:35.000 --> 00:15:37.320
I took a match to this EXTENSI or how can
248
00:15:37.440 --> 00:15:41.759
you be sure I'll come now? My idea was there
249
00:15:41.799 --> 00:15:43.879
are secrets to every trade.
250
00:15:45.039 --> 00:15:47.799
Give example. Look over there on the floor behind you.
251
00:15:49.159 --> 00:15:51.399
What do you mean I don't see anything to take you?
252
00:15:55.039 --> 00:15:59.639
As you said before, Wolf, soon your wethers will be over.
253
00:16:01.320 --> 00:16:05.440
You were right, and oh you are welling. I'm going
254
00:16:05.679 --> 00:16:32.679
up and small that's to tatters by and just a moment.
255
00:16:33.879 --> 00:16:37.840
But first petal on pets and bottle crucal classes and
256
00:16:38.679 --> 00:16:41.399
lots more value, a lot more destiny take class.
257
00:16:41.440 --> 00:16:44.919
When more and more, among fellas and girls, among mothers
258
00:16:44.960 --> 00:16:47.840
and dads, you hear that scene and sensible question, Why
259
00:16:48.000 --> 00:16:51.480
take less when pepsi is bet? No budget, no allowance
260
00:16:51.600 --> 00:16:55.639
ever had a better friend than Tanny sparkling pepsicola. Because
261
00:16:55.720 --> 00:16:59.080
one big twelve out pepsi bottle gives you two delicious drinks.
262
00:16:59.519 --> 00:17:02.720
That's why as much hanging taste, twice as much delicious
263
00:17:02.759 --> 00:17:06.200
pepsi to go just twice as far. That's why more
264
00:17:06.240 --> 00:17:10.039
and more families say, why take left when pepsi is best?
265
00:17:10.640 --> 00:17:12.559
Yes, family is like yours and mine.
266
00:17:13.039 --> 00:17:16.839
Family's all over America they're all saying, why take less
267
00:17:17.119 --> 00:17:18.359
when pepsi is bet?
268
00:17:18.759 --> 00:17:22.640
Petty calls.
269
00:17:22.799 --> 00:17:24.400
More and better than the rest?
270
00:17:24.640 --> 00:17:28.680
Why take less when Pety s today tomorrow always get
271
00:17:28.720 --> 00:17:32.400
America's biggest tollerab take home a carton of six big
272
00:17:32.680 --> 00:17:36.599
big pepsi bottles. Insist on pepsi at the store, and
273
00:17:36.799 --> 00:17:40.599
say Pepsi at the fountain, stay Petsy at the stands,
274
00:17:41.079 --> 00:17:44.119
say Pepsi whenever you reach for refreshment.
275
00:17:44.400 --> 00:17:46.799
Remember it. Why take less?
276
00:17:46.920 --> 00:17:48.240
When Pepsy says?
277
00:17:48.920 --> 00:17:51.119
And now back to compass five.
278
00:17:55.680 --> 00:17:58.240
For the golf warehouse is a black mass of people
279
00:17:58.599 --> 00:18:02.200
as three fire companies, the towering plane back of the
280
00:18:02.279 --> 00:18:05.039
fire lines. David hunting in a counter spot for cold
281
00:18:05.079 --> 00:18:08.759
car with these assistant Harry Peters is receiving a report
282
00:18:08.799 --> 00:18:09.400
from another ag.
283
00:18:11.599 --> 00:18:13.640
I was waiting outside the warehouse for Wolf as he
284
00:18:13.720 --> 00:18:16.480
waded about five minutes after he had entered.
285
00:18:16.519 --> 00:18:18.960
I saw the flames. I tried to get in there
286
00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:19.680
to save Wolf.
287
00:18:20.039 --> 00:18:22.759
Snowgull, you better get those runs on your hands, Enery,
288
00:18:22.880 --> 00:18:25.960
Edward fry Sheep, I don't get it. Wilf's wants me
289
00:18:26.039 --> 00:18:28.079
to wear house and fires Minuteslator it goes up like
290
00:18:28.119 --> 00:18:28.599
a mass spot.
291
00:18:28.680 --> 00:18:29.319
Now it's got the.
292
00:18:29.359 --> 00:18:32.599
Fire marshal puzzle tool, dude, and where half was equipped
293
00:18:32.640 --> 00:18:35.599
with every fire preventing device, including a sprinkler system. The
294
00:18:35.680 --> 00:18:39.119
only angle license is that Wolf became panicky. He was
295
00:18:39.160 --> 00:18:41.079
assad we were getting too close, so he decided to
296
00:18:41.079 --> 00:18:43.319
get rid of his books by faking an accidental fire.
297
00:18:43.839 --> 00:18:46.039
But he was trapped in the warehouse. You don't know
298
00:18:46.240 --> 00:18:49.319
he all that the possibility, Peters. But there's also a
299
00:18:49.400 --> 00:18:52.359
possibility that Wolf got out by a rear exit. We
300
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:54.240
should have had an agent at that rear ector. Yes,
301
00:18:54.279 --> 00:18:56.839
but Dad, you agree with me about the books yes, Peter's,
302
00:18:56.880 --> 00:18:59.160
but I'm holding off any other speculation until we get
303
00:18:59.160 --> 00:18:59.880
a laboratory on.
304
00:18:59.880 --> 00:19:17.000
That hoss of that fire. Come in, Darling, I can
305
00:19:17.079 --> 00:19:20.400
only stand minute I told you together going for short walk,
306
00:19:21.279 --> 00:19:23.279
he said, you told me everything right according to plan,
307
00:19:24.359 --> 00:19:27.240
almost if you could say to the purpose. It was
308
00:19:27.599 --> 00:19:31.200
enough for us, but not for de Tree. I don't
309
00:19:31.279 --> 00:19:31.839
understand you.
310
00:19:32.359 --> 00:19:34.519
I told you I'm going to build that five thousand
311
00:19:34.599 --> 00:19:40.000
dollars into one hundred thousand. Remember, in that fire tonight,
312
00:19:40.279 --> 00:19:42.720
Dietrich got only one of the two things he wanted
313
00:19:43.440 --> 00:19:49.960
Wolf's best. Unfortunately the second thing, the account book. They
314
00:19:50.000 --> 00:19:53.559
were not furned in the flame. That you mean, I
315
00:19:53.680 --> 00:19:55.400
removed the account books from the warehouse.
316
00:19:56.039 --> 00:19:57.880
They are now right here in my closet.
317
00:19:58.799 --> 00:20:03.319
Oh been a crime to destroy them for only five
318
00:20:03.440 --> 00:20:09.359
thousand dollars after all? Mean that starts valuable documents, really accurd,
319
00:20:09.480 --> 00:20:10.720
don't you agree, darly y?
320
00:20:11.559 --> 00:20:15.039
Yes? Did you could say anything to get return on
321
00:20:15.160 --> 00:20:19.720
the book. One hundred thousand will be enough. We mustn't
322
00:20:19.759 --> 00:20:24.359
be pea gre till unful.
323
00:20:26.680 --> 00:20:29.240
I mean, I can hardly wait to see car detrict
324
00:20:29.279 --> 00:20:31.640
space when I take him. The price is one one
325
00:20:31.720 --> 00:20:42.519
hundred thousand dollars one hundred thousand dollars and well worth surprise, Detrie,
326
00:20:42.599 --> 00:20:42.880
don't you.
327
00:20:42.920 --> 00:20:47.839
Think one hundred thousand dollars? Back? Men? And to think
328
00:20:47.880 --> 00:20:49.119
I want fuss that you got?
329
00:20:49.240 --> 00:20:52.920
Oh, we all make mistakes, dedrict, some more more expensive
330
00:20:53.039 --> 00:20:53.960
mistakes than others.
331
00:20:54.720 --> 00:20:57.240
Yours will cost you one hundred thousand dollars.
332
00:20:57.960 --> 00:21:00.440
And what if I don't say? How can you afford
333
00:21:00.519 --> 00:21:03.799
not to pay? But illicit trading business is worth millions
334
00:21:03.839 --> 00:21:06.880
of dollars to them? Why should you jeopardize it? For
335
00:21:07.000 --> 00:21:12.640
about three hundred thousand? And Julie needs Friday. I shall
336
00:21:12.720 --> 00:21:14.759
give you one to the Thursday to deliver the money.
337
00:21:21.880 --> 00:21:24.079
I've got the message a field off the side of way.
338
00:21:24.359 --> 00:21:27.079
What's up the laboratory analysis? All that fire is ready
339
00:21:27.119 --> 00:21:30.559
for us feed. First, that warehouse was set a blade
340
00:21:30.599 --> 00:21:32.319
by probably the cleverest.
341
00:21:31.960 --> 00:21:32.960
Artness in the business.
342
00:21:34.559 --> 00:21:37.319
Next, the flames spread quickly because of oil in the
343
00:21:37.359 --> 00:21:40.480
warehouse at Black Snowton. We did spent last night. But
344
00:21:40.559 --> 00:21:43.920
here's something we didn't get. Our chemists found globules of
345
00:21:44.039 --> 00:21:48.599
kerosene oil in the sprinkler system pipes and valves. Sprinkle
346
00:21:48.640 --> 00:21:51.000
system is apparently loaded with kerouthene in full of water
347
00:21:52.039 --> 00:21:54.880
as the laborate instructure. The archemist started the small fire
348
00:21:54.960 --> 00:21:56.920
in the rear of the warehouse. The heat open the
349
00:21:56.960 --> 00:22:00.119
sprinkler'sums and the terracine to tear the rest drive a
350
00:22:00.200 --> 00:22:03.359
real profession of jobs and all abound. Wolf traces of
351
00:22:03.480 --> 00:22:05.839
human boom were found in the ruins. There's no doubt
352
00:22:05.920 --> 00:22:08.920
Wolf died in that fire. As a good possibility he
353
00:22:09.039 --> 00:22:12.160
was murdered. Yes, might have been convenient that he stick
354
00:22:12.200 --> 00:22:14.880
to get Wolf out of the very convenient Diadrick would
355
00:22:14.920 --> 00:22:17.680
be burning two birds with one man. We can't pick
356
00:22:17.759 --> 00:22:20.480
Patrick up on that rap. She's according to our reports,
357
00:22:20.519 --> 00:22:22.559
he was in his hotel room all even as I know.
358
00:22:22.880 --> 00:22:23.319
But there's a.
359
00:22:25.680 --> 00:22:29.880
Hiding eight twelve reporting. Go ahead, J Twell, Nina Campbell,
360
00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:31.599
let's the room at the Tremont Hotel.
361
00:22:32.200 --> 00:22:34.599
He's now visiting room nine oh seven at the hotel.
362
00:22:34.680 --> 00:22:37.319
Sergeant, Okay, J Twell, let me have a full report
363
00:22:37.359 --> 00:22:41.519
when Nina Campbell returns for the sergeant right Eni Campo
364
00:22:42.119 --> 00:22:45.559
hotel Sergeant, what's not about this? Headrick's secretary, Anina Campbell
365
00:22:45.720 --> 00:22:47.160
left the hotel last night.
366
00:22:47.279 --> 00:22:49.279
It is I think maybe seas you want to put
367
00:22:49.319 --> 00:22:50.279
the torch in the warehouse.
368
00:22:50.680 --> 00:22:53.440
No, Nina Campbell walked out of her hotel at eleven,
369
00:22:53.519 --> 00:22:55.960
almost an hour after the fire began. But you go
370
00:22:56.359 --> 00:22:58.680
the same place where she is now, room nine o
371
00:22:58.920 --> 00:23:01.799
seven in the hotel, Progeant. And because the occupant of
372
00:23:01.920 --> 00:23:05.440
nine oh seven is a man named Grass, grunts and
373
00:23:05.559 --> 00:23:07.480
take up call who arrived in New York Sunday on
374
00:23:07.519 --> 00:23:10.319
a plane for Argentina. And maybe Grasses the firebugs. It
375
00:23:10.400 --> 00:23:14.039
could be there's no one Ya twelve got into the
376
00:23:14.079 --> 00:23:16.599
room next to here. He overheard Nino Campo and Grass
377
00:23:16.640 --> 00:23:17.920
making arrangements.
378
00:23:17.480 --> 00:23:18.000
To meet there.
379
00:23:18.079 --> 00:23:20.240
The chaplain again, Oh glad.
380
00:23:20.119 --> 00:23:22.039
We haven't got a detectaphone in there, said he have.
381
00:23:22.319 --> 00:23:25.160
I hadn't installed this morning. Oh I might have known.
382
00:23:25.480 --> 00:23:28.240
He didn't answers to hear the recording of the conversation
383
00:23:28.359 --> 00:23:29.680
between Grass and Nina Campbell.
384
00:23:29.720 --> 00:23:31.640
And there's no telling what interesting.
385
00:23:31.319 --> 00:23:32.960
Things those two are saying to each other.
386
00:23:38.200 --> 00:23:40.359
What did he see me? Now, you'll get your money
387
00:23:40.359 --> 00:23:43.680
to naow glass cool. That's very sensible of the tree. Now,
388
00:23:43.839 --> 00:23:49.640
it's wonderful to see in scram Grass. Are the books
389
00:23:49.640 --> 00:23:52.440
still in that closet? Yes, of course, Why well, they
390
00:23:52.519 --> 00:23:55.960
need too much to us. I was concerned about your leading.
391
00:23:55.960 --> 00:24:00.240
Here they're perfectly safely now you could never tell men
392
00:24:00.279 --> 00:24:01.799
I except myself.
393
00:24:01.720 --> 00:24:04.440
Only one person knows where those botan. And I can
394
00:24:04.519 --> 00:24:14.839
trust you can of course always Harby Dave's record winds
395
00:24:14.880 --> 00:24:15.359
in the course.
396
00:24:15.960 --> 00:24:18.559
Not quite. Aren't you ever satisfied? Yes?
397
00:24:18.759 --> 00:24:20.160
When I am sure the people.
398
00:24:20.000 --> 00:24:22.640
Like grasping deeper get what they deserve, the electric care
399
00:24:22.960 --> 00:24:25.880
and what's next? Walk up the ground? The thing he
400
00:24:25.920 --> 00:24:27.119
feels that, I mean a campo?
401
00:24:27.480 --> 00:24:29.960
What do you mean with something God said? In this camp?
402
00:24:30.119 --> 00:24:30.400
He said?
403
00:24:31.279 --> 00:24:32.359
And I can trust you?
404
00:24:32.799 --> 00:24:35.599
Can't you think I have an idol of God? Stay
405
00:24:35.720 --> 00:24:47.799
in this temple is going to be sadly twisted. And
406
00:24:47.960 --> 00:24:54.599
then God, you hasn't brought the books to the God?
407
00:24:56.359 --> 00:24:58.480
I haven't ann lever, But you want to bring the boat?
408
00:24:59.200 --> 00:25:03.400
I brought this instead? Do you expect the contrast with
409
00:25:03.480 --> 00:25:03.799
the gun?
410
00:25:05.240 --> 00:25:07.440
Oh right, talk about it in the other room.
411
00:25:07.880 --> 00:25:08.319
Live along.
412
00:25:09.720 --> 00:25:10.440
I will.
413
00:25:17.480 --> 00:25:25.640
Thank you? Right you say Elsina Temples by very she
414
00:25:27.559 --> 00:25:30.039
in the next room. Tell her to come in here.
415
00:25:30.680 --> 00:25:32.960
What had she to do with it? This gun can
416
00:25:33.039 --> 00:25:33.960
do ugly damage.
417
00:25:34.880 --> 00:25:36.359
Tell Mina Temple to come in here?
418
00:25:38.880 --> 00:25:42.559
When I how many appease?
419
00:25:43.440 --> 00:25:43.920
Not away?
420
00:25:45.160 --> 00:25:47.400
Really gods, what is it all about? Because if she
421
00:25:47.599 --> 00:25:52.880
didn't know where I was taken about, I got the
422
00:25:52.960 --> 00:25:56.640
gun too. You know, I don't understand you can stop
423
00:25:56.720 --> 00:25:57.599
us from both of them.
424
00:25:58.920 --> 00:25:59.839
Got a matter of gros.
425
00:26:00.519 --> 00:26:04.480
You know you really had me food every minute you
426
00:26:04.599 --> 00:26:05.160
spent with you.
427
00:26:05.319 --> 00:26:08.720
That for him better. I don't know what they're talking
428
00:26:08.759 --> 00:26:13.519
about over time. I don't understand.
429
00:26:14.319 --> 00:26:18.759
Where are they enough say the book won't accumbers around
430
00:26:18.759 --> 00:26:20.400
you fold from because of my hotel room.
431
00:26:20.839 --> 00:26:24.440
I didn't. You must believe me. I didn't a nice scheel.
432
00:26:24.720 --> 00:26:27.480
You took tab me enough, using me to keep tabs
433
00:26:27.480 --> 00:26:28.319
on me very clever.
434
00:26:29.440 --> 00:26:31.359
You didn't see those good You're the only one who
435
00:26:31.400 --> 00:26:34.279
knew fever rare. That's why you were so runy yesterday.
436
00:26:34.319 --> 00:26:36.599
You were afraid I couldn't be somewhere else. And when
437
00:26:36.640 --> 00:26:38.119
I was old this morning, you came into my room.
438
00:26:38.240 --> 00:26:43.640
That's your truth. Tell him Tell him I haven't left
439
00:26:43.759 --> 00:26:49.559
you all day, but he did. Do you know I
440
00:26:49.640 --> 00:26:54.359
hadn't got to you Tell him the trouvement to Ditrich mean,
441
00:26:54.480 --> 00:26:58.559
mine left the hotel this morning and was gone for
442
00:26:58.720 --> 00:27:02.640
an hour. It's they kill me.
443
00:27:02.839 --> 00:27:07.400
Water pity trick. It's a pity for bolt to lose
444
00:27:07.480 --> 00:27:09.359
me Glass, I have nothing to do with it. The
445
00:27:09.440 --> 00:27:11.839
door quite new to me. Even then I was played
446
00:27:11.839 --> 00:27:14.720
a boat for fool over a bet. You're both going
447
00:27:14.799 --> 00:27:20.759
to die. God, Oh I'm not going to shoot. I'm afectious.
448
00:27:20.920 --> 00:27:26.240
Remember I do empire. Betch you and me now will
449
00:27:26.319 --> 00:27:31.920
have the same accident. It's disposed of rules. It is
450
00:27:32.039 --> 00:27:35.319
metal tube and in dangerous. All I do is remove
451
00:27:35.359 --> 00:27:37.680
the cup and love the floor from the outside. In
452
00:27:37.759 --> 00:27:39.680
no time at all will be over for you. Cool,
453
00:27:40.519 --> 00:27:41.839
stop that gun, Glass, never.
454
00:27:45.000 --> 00:27:56.720
And carriage gone to this. Besides, look a killer and
455
00:27:57.000 --> 00:28:00.279
heaven you are right, whoever you are. Bet, I don't
456
00:28:00.279 --> 00:28:02.319
think you'll like who we are and what this is.
457
00:28:02.440 --> 00:28:06.000

00:28:13.480 --> 00:28:16.079

462
00:28:16.119 --> 00:28:18.799
idea that their sudden absence would provide the evidence I
463
00:28:18.880 --> 00:28:21.839
wanted than it did. Evidence Grants that will finish both

is yet presented.
480

at being bad.

Until he saw a blind spot, the.

Promoter who believed the seward was mightier.

Than the pin and used it to escape, and the
485
00:29:38.799 --> 00:29:43.119
extraordinary half man who had enough courage for two ordinary men.
486
00:29:44.160 --> 00:29:45.680
You got to be tuned in on Thursday.
487
00:29:45.720 --> 00:29:49.640
After Tomorrow two days are the curatus come on on
488
00:29:50.000 --> 00:29:58.279
counter Fire then Counterspy program originated in New York, was
489
00:29:58.319 --> 00:30:01.759
directed by Leonard L. Bass, by Edward Day Adamson and
490
00:30:02.240 --> 00:30:05.759
Don McLaughlan and Mandel Kramer, with Musich by Densie Crawford.
491
00:30:06.319 --> 00:30:10.880
Counter Spy as the Senetate lawn production for Petticola, employing
492
00:30:10.960 --> 00:30:11.519
from Petsy.
493
00:30:11.759 --> 00:30:28.279
I told Tonight, well, a.
494
00:30:28.400 --> 00:30:33.480
Really fun story, and kudos to Phillips Lord for having
495
00:30:33.759 --> 00:30:40.960
a reasonable counter intelligence reason for them to investigate, because
496
00:30:41.039 --> 00:30:48.559
certainly the illegal shipping of potential war supplies would be
497
00:30:48.680 --> 00:30:52.599
a job for counter spy, even if the typical ARSON
498
00:30:52.720 --> 00:30:55.079
case would not. And of course this was not a
499
00:30:55.359 --> 00:31:00.680
typical Arson. This was big, very very big, and I
500
00:31:01.160 --> 00:31:04.960
loved it for that, even though it would probably not
501
00:31:05.400 --> 00:31:09.720
be a plausible ARSON method. For one thing, if you're
502
00:31:09.839 --> 00:31:14.720
looking at a wet pop sprinkler system, it was either
503
00:31:14.880 --> 00:31:19.680
connected to a dedicated water source or douce city water.
504
00:31:20.920 --> 00:31:25.319
In regardless, you would probably need a truck for all
505
00:31:25.400 --> 00:31:30.359
the kerosene, hundreds of gallons of kerosene to replace the
506
00:31:30.480 --> 00:31:34.799
water supply, if not thousands. And that's before you even
507
00:31:34.920 --> 00:31:38.640
get into whether it would work a like counter spy says,
508
00:31:39.079 --> 00:31:43.119
but it is not to imagine and you don't need
509
00:31:43.200 --> 00:31:47.000
to worry about an effects budget on radio listener comments
510
00:31:47.079 --> 00:31:50.960
and feedback now and we have a comment from Lawrence
511
00:31:51.079 --> 00:31:56.480
Comming via email regarding the second part of the Cold
512
00:31:56.559 --> 00:31:59.720
Blooded Professor. Hi Adam just wanted to mention that the
513
00:31:59.759 --> 00:32:03.960
care of Professor Emery Horn was probably the most despicable
514
00:32:04.079 --> 00:32:07.519
villain that I've ever heard on Old time radio. I
515
00:32:07.680 --> 00:32:09.839
was more than happy to see him get his come
516
00:32:09.920 --> 00:32:13.759
upance in part two of this story continued success. Well,
517
00:32:13.799 --> 00:32:18.319
that's so much. We have run into some really despicable
518
00:32:18.400 --> 00:32:22.839
people over the years through all the various podcasts that
519
00:32:23.079 --> 00:32:28.640
we've done, whether talking about Superman, Fright Detectives, what have you,
520
00:32:29.160 --> 00:32:31.920
or you can think about even some of the villains
521
00:32:32.039 --> 00:32:36.759
we've had, like a Taia in the Trzan series on
522
00:32:37.319 --> 00:32:41.079
Tuesdays on The Great Adventurers. I do think there's something
523
00:32:41.200 --> 00:32:45.079
in Ralph Bell's performance that makes it stand out. It's
524
00:32:45.279 --> 00:32:51.319
almost as if he doesn't play Horn like a pulp
525
00:32:51.480 --> 00:32:56.160
villain and instead has a bit more grounded and dare
526
00:32:56.240 --> 00:33:02.079
I say realistic feeling that makes it feel extra sadistic
527
00:33:02.680 --> 00:33:05.039
and cruel. And I do think that with a title
528
00:33:05.240 --> 00:33:09.640
like the cold Blooded Professor. That's what they were going for. Then,
529
00:33:09.839 --> 00:33:15.759
on a completely different note regarding part one, random Spotify
530
00:33:15.880 --> 00:33:19.279
user rights true story or not, this is such a
531
00:33:19.359 --> 00:33:22.440
great episode to think about. A disguise so far in
532
00:33:22.519 --> 00:33:26.079
advance is such a great idea. I'm taking notes now
533
00:33:26.279 --> 00:33:28.960
in case I turned to a life of crime. Well,
534
00:33:29.559 --> 00:33:33.559
I will say as a disclosure, I think it's safe
535
00:33:33.640 --> 00:33:37.240
to say that Professor Horn did kind of choose to
536
00:33:37.319 --> 00:33:40.920
do things the hard way. All right, Well, thanks so much,
537
00:33:40.960 --> 00:33:44.599
appreciate the comment. Now it's time to thank or Patreon
