In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast, The Devil’s New Age Traps, host Adam Blai explores the New Age movement through the lens of Christian teaching, arguing that its appeal often rests on the promise of personal power, hidden knowledge, and control over reality. He connects modern practices such as manifesting, tarot, angel cards, astrology, akashic records, transcendental meditation, channeling, Reiki, Kundalini yoga, and crystal healing with older spiritual traditions, including Gnosticism, Theosophy, Witchcraft, and mystery schools, and examines the desire to make the self the ultimate source of truth and authority.
The episode considers why these practices may seem harmless or comforting at first, yet can lead people toward fear, anxiety, and spiritual confusion. Drawing on his experience in exorcism and spiritual care, Adam discusses how divination, mediumship, and other New Age practices fit into a broader spiritual framework, and contrasts attempts to control outcomes with Christian prayer and trust in God.
Referencing the Vatican documents Orationis Formas and Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life, Adam offers a Christian critique of New Age ideas and explains how sacramental grace and practices such as Lectio Divina differ from seeking spiritual power or secret knowledge. The conversation is intended as both a guide to understanding New Age spirituality and an invitation to seek peace through a different source.
