Speaker 2: The Brewers.
00:00:30
Speaker 1: Are really, really, really getting close to setting all-time records, doubling all-time records, perhaps, for World Series ticket prices. We will dive into a little bit of an economic lesson about supply and demand. How exactly? the Brewers are, and this isn't the Brewers, this isn't the Brewers, the secondary ticket market. I should be clear how the secondary ticket market has just gone completely insane ahead of the first World Series in Milwaukee since 1982. You want to email me, dod at iheartmedia.com. This is going to be the single most important week of this gubernatorial election here in Wisconsin. In-person early voting starts tomorrow. The debate is on Wednesday. everyone is going to stop paying attention to politics and pretty much everything else at exactly 7 0 8 PM on Friday night.
00:02:43
Speaker 3: Why?
00:02:44
Speaker 1: Because that is game one first pitch of the world series. This is why it is absolutely imperative that conservatives maximize turnout right now. If you want to get Tom Tiffany elected governor, if you want to have Eric Toney as your attorney general, if we want to save Derek Van Orden, the great congressman in western Wisconsin, perhaps even Brian Stile down in the first congressional district, Democrats are targeting those districts hard. They firmly believe that there is going to be a major issue, a major issue with turnout. They firmly believe that if Republicans don't maximize turnout, then we are going to absolutely get crushed. You know who is also pushing this? National pollsters and the people who analyze the polls. Meet the press yesterday. Steve Kornacki talked with the host of the program about just what Republicans need to do. If there is some sort of a polling error, And Republicans are able to turn out votes at a much bigger margin. Then they've got a chance, Nation 1. We showed you.
00:04:05
Speaker 4: That generic ballot here, but break it down this way, asking folks, will you definitely vote in the midterm? There's a motivation edge here for Democrats. They lead by 12 on the generic ballot with definitely. That's about 80% of the folks in the poll.
00:04:18
Speaker 1: But those who say.
00:04:19
Speaker 4: Probably or no, and believe it or not, some folks who say no in a poll do end up voting. The Republicans have the advantage with those who are not sure they're going to be voting right now.
00:04:29
Speaker 1: So the more.
00:04:29
Speaker 4: Republicans succeed in expanding the electorate there, They might be able to bring that generic ballot down some.
00:04:34
Speaker 1: That is a big concern for Republicans. You heard what he said. The people who are not entirely sure that they're going to vote, they are the ones who are tending to lean Republican. Now, there is also, and I'm sure you've seen it, a whole lot of consternation that there is going to be a big polling miss. In fact, there is an average polling miss of about two to four points in the Trump era that always seems to favor Democrats. It is not necessarily that the polls are rigged. President Trump, heading out to yet another campaign appearance today, said as he was about to get on Marine One that he thought that the polls were just as rigged as the media thought. There may be a little bit of that. And yes, there are polls that are done solely to generate headlines, solely to drive the narrative, because there is what's known as the bandwagon effect in politics. People, believe it or not, will actually vote for the candidate who they believe is going to win, just as Pretty much everyone in the country hopped on the Milwaukee Brewers bandwagon, primarily because they were playing the hated L.A. Dodgers, but also because they look like a winner. They were just dominating L.A. That tends to pick you up some fans. Why was it that every kid growing up when I grew up had a Michael Jordan jersey? Today, it seems like every kid has a Steph Curry jersey because they are big winners. They were the ones... who were able to generate all sorts of support because of the success. Now, the bigger issue, I think, is that Republicans have essentially stopped responding to pollsters, and pollsters aren't quite sure how exactly to take this into account. Frank Luntz, who for years did focus groups and polling on Fox News, is actually on cnn right now and he was asked over the weekend what he thinks the likelihood of a polling miss is and why there might be of.
00:06:43
Speaker 5: Its what do you think the polls may be missing do you think they're they're under sampling the kind of voter that trump usually brings out that sort of non-engaged voters that that may not respond to a phone call from a.
00:06:55
Speaker 6: Pollster you know that they respond respond to phone calls we know That in the exit polling back in 2016, and I say this publicly because.
00:07:03
Speaker 3: I want people to hear this. You know, I teach at West Point.
00:07:06
Speaker 1: I cannot lie, cheat, or steal. The cadets can't.
00:07:08
Speaker 3: I can't.
00:07:09
Speaker 1: I got 2016 wrong. I believed in the exit polls.
00:07:13
Speaker 6: Trump voters walked away, refused to participate because they thought that it was against them. They thought that the polls were all biased. And that's what Republicans are being told right now.
00:07:23
Speaker 1: Don't believe the polls. They're not accurate. Well, they may be.
00:07:27
Speaker 6: We're about to find out, but I'm still skeptical. In the end, Republicans are less likely to participate. They're less likely to believe the polls are happening. But I'm most interested in turnout. In the end, and there are ways to measure it, and I'm not convinced that they're doing it, that they're polling how the electorate overall feels and not polling the people actually going to participate.
00:07:50
Speaker 1: And that is critical because the number one thing that you need to do to get an accurate representation of who it is that's going to vote is to poll based on what the expected turnout model is going to be. The biggest consequence of Republicans not really following or not really responding to pollsters anymore is that the electorate is almost always tilted in favor of Democrats. This means that there is much more likely a scenario where the polls miss to the left, oversampling and overstating Democrats because Republicans just aren't showing up. But here's the thing that you need to be concerned about. It's not just that Republicans aren't showing up to pollsters and aren't responding to pollsters. They're also not showing up at the polls when Republicans are on the ballot, but Trump is not. This is why Trump has been doing such a massive midterm blitz. This is why he is in a different swing state every single day, campaigning for a different senator or a different member of Congress, because it's not about whether or not Democrats are able to tie Trump to Tom Tiffany. And we've got yet more David Crowell. I can't believe that this actually still resonates with people David Crowley is doing a campaign appearance he did with Senator Alyssa Slotkin, who, by the way, just said that she wants to prosecute people who work for Trump to dissuade people from going to work for Trump. We'll get to that coming up later this hour in the Daily Trump Day. Crowley basically went back to January 6th. Yeah, the high holy day for Boomer Libs. Does this actually still motivate people saying that? Well, we don't want someone who denied the election in 2020 to be certifying the election for president in 2028. This is all about getting that base out, getting people who are terrified that Donald Trump, getting one of the five or seven boomers who actually did show up to those no kings protests over the weekend. That was about the worst attended rally I think I have ever seen. The point is that you have got to get the base motivated. You have got to get the base out and voting. This is why here on this program we are once again running the state's largest early vote drive. Because it is so important that not just you get out and vote early, it's going to be an absolutely gorgeous week. We want to blow the doors off of in-person early voting. Behind the scenes, Democrats are panicked. that mail-in voting is down as far as it is in Milwaukee and Madison. They're trying to pretend that all of their low propensity voters are just going to show up magically on election day instead of being ballot harvested, where a ballot is sent to them and then someone collects it and drops it off. Very clearly, Democrats don't have the money to run their massive ballot harvesting operation anymore, especially in Milwaukee. That is a huge disadvantage. But don't kid yourself. In-person early voting over the next two weeks is going to tell the story. If Democrats blow the doors off of it, very good chance that not only does Tom Tiffany go down to defeat, but both the state assembly and the state senate are lost as well. Very good chance Van Orden loses. Brian Stile, I would say, would be at risk of losing if he wasn't running against a true crazy person in Mitchell Berman. Do you realize Democrats are running a guy for Congress who literally caused a school lockdown because he showed up and was so aggressive and nuts, demanding documents and answers in the Raymond School District that they put the school on a soft lockdown? In fact, he was so crazy that after that happened, I was talking about it on my show about three Three years ago or so, he called me up, demanded to go on the air to tell his side of the story. He swore at least twice. I'm fairly certain there was one F-bomb, one S-bomb and just sounded so intense and unhinged. that I was concerned about the FCC license being lost and said, I'm sorry, Mitch, I'm not going to be able to put you on the air. I had no idea what the guy's politics were. I had no idea if he was a Democrat at the time. He's too crazy to go on a radio show. He's clearly too crazy to go to Washington, D.C. and represent the first congressional district in Congress. But we are going to get as many human beings, as many conservatives out to vote for style, for Van Orden, for Tom Tiffany. for Eric Toney, for everybody else up and down the ballot, and we are helping you do so. Not only are we running the state's largest early voting drive, here's how it works. You go out, you early vote, you text us on the Carpetland USA Flooring Center talk and text line. We will be logging in-person early votes all day. I spend a good amount of time just kind of counting them up. And what I also want you to do is to text when you bring someone else to vote. If you say get your neighbor to vote, if you get your wife, if your kid is home from college, get him or her to vote. Let me know. Tell me how many early votes. And there's no excuse that you don't know how to vote, because once again, we have The ultimate conservative voter guide up right now at our new digital web initiative, the Heartland Post, heartlandpost.com. And coming up in just a second, we will tell you how to use the ultimate conservative voter guide. Stay tuned. The Dan O'Donnell Show will be right back. Could there be a massive polling average miss this year? Republicans are certainly hoping so. And generally speaking, you don't want to be hoping for a generic ballot polling miss as the thing you sort of hold your hat on as the reason that you've still got a chance of winning. But it certainly seems like a whole lot of pollsters and a whole lot of people who analyze polls in the media have spent an inordinate amount of time over the last week or so talking about the possibility of a polling miss. Chief among them is the chief polling guru at CNN, Harry Enten, who this morning reminded viewers that the average polling error in U.S. Senate races going back decades is is about 3.7 points. Now, whether or not that's in favor of Republicans is going to be critical here. But since most polling errors always seem to benefit Democrats, it's a safe assumption that Senate polls are probably going to be skewed in that direction as well. And Enten says if there is a polling miss of about four points, Republicans don't just hold on to the Senate. They possibly, and in all likelihood, expand their majority.
00:15:21
Speaker 7: For all the great polling that Democrats have had, we speak about all that outside money coming in.
00:15:26
Speaker 3: I think Republicans are probably going to need something like this. I mean, a polling error. Final Senate polling aggregates, close races since 1988. No, 1998.
00:15:34
Speaker 7: Boy, sometimes the past just keeps getting further and further into the past.
00:15:42
Speaker 3: I lose track of the number of years.
00:15:43
Speaker 7: A 3.7, 3.7 average error rate in terms of the final Senate poll aggregates. So remember that map that we had earlier, right? We had that map that looked a bit like this, right? Democrats 54, Republicans 46.
00:15:57
Speaker 3: But if in fact that we get.
00:15:59
Speaker 7: A polling error of 3.7 points in each state and Republicans are the ones who benefit, that is they outperform their polls by 3.7 points.
00:16:08
Speaker 3: Look at this.
00:16:09
Speaker 7: All of a sudden, Maine goes red. Michigan goes red. Texas stays red. How about Kansas?
00:16:15
Speaker 3: Kansas. Kansas is red. And Alaska remains red as well.
00:16:22
Speaker 1: You could also see a surprise flip. I actually do believe that Michigan is in real danger of going for the Republican Mike Rogers because Abdul-Rathbun El-Sayed is such a uniquely terrible candidate. And that's a big reason that Republicans didn't win more in 2022. And also why Democrats might not be winning as many seats as they might think, because some of the candidates they put up are simply too far to the left, are simply too unpalatable to the general electorate. Republicans did that in Georgia. Herschel Walker, a uniquely awful candidate. Blake Masters, Carrie Lake. bad candidates running in 2022. Look, I like Blake Masters. I like Kerry Lake. I liked Herschel Walker as a football player. As a politician, he was terrible. But the general electorate clearly did not like them. If Democrats make the same mistake, and it looks like in some of these key races they did, then they might not be able to simply put all their laurels, rest on their laurels, on a much more favorable electorate coming out in the midterms. Again, Frank Luntz is very concerned that the electorate isn't going to be nearly as blue as everyone thinks it is because of the same sort of polling errors. Republicans simply stopping answering polls. Do you remember the last Trump midterm? By the way, do you remember that?
00:17:59
Speaker 8: How.
00:18:00
Speaker 1: Republicans just got blown out. Republicans just got absolutely massacred. Would you believe they increased their majority in the Senate? House of Representatives, they lost a ton of seats. They gained in the Senate. It's almost hard to believe. What does that mean for Wisconsin? Well, it probably means that this is going to be a race that is decided by who gets their base out. It sounds so cliched. Whichever party does a better job on turnout will win. But as our Megan Novak writes at the Heartland Post, it is very, very true. Wisconsin has become the most decided by the thinnest margins state in America. In 2004, John Kerry won here by 0.38%, smallest margin of any state in the country in that year. When Trump flipped Wisconsin in 2016, he won by 0.77%. Two years later, Tony Evers beats Scott Walker by 1.1%. Biden reclaimed the state in 2020 by 0.63%. In 2022, Ron Johnson held his Senate seat against Mandela Barnes by 26,718 votes. Those margins are turnout and enthusiasm gaps. In 2026, Novak writes, is shaping up to follow the same trend. Let those numbers sink in. 26,000 votes. That's smaller than the population of many Wisconsin cities. That's an election where turnout doesn't just matter. Who turns out and how easy it is to get them to the polls will determine the election results. Folks, that is why every conservative within the sound of my voice right now needs to vote tomorrow wednesday thursday get your voting in before world series fever consumes this whole state and politics is put on the back burner and there is no excuse for you not to go to the polls armed with the information that you need We have got up at the Heartland Post, heartlandpost.com right now, a new and improved Ultimate Conservative Voter Guide. We have even gone down so far as to identify clerk of circuit courts candidates in each one of Wisconsin's 72 counties and county coroner positions. That's right. Take part in the state's largest early vote drive here on the Dan O'Donnell Show. And let's blow the doors off of in-person early voting tomorrow. We'll be right back. and how to vote on the three constitutional amendment questions. There was an issue with data input on school referendum questions, municipal referendum questions. Just vote no on all of them. There are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds. Actually, I shouldn't say hundreds and hundreds. I believe the number was up around 100. And because it's just very, very difficult to get the precise location of what school district you're in, whether you're actually going to have that school referendum on your ballot. We were not able to get all of that data in there. So just vote no on all school referendum. But for every single candidate, we have got a recommendation. The Ultimate Conservative Voter Guide, heartlandpost.com. Assistant Attorney General Bill Esseli. Today, announcing arrests and criminal charges against upwards of 28 different illegal immigrants in California for registering to vote and then very likely voting in elections.
00:25:34
Speaker 9: We are announcing charges against 28 non-citizens who illegally registered to vote and many of which actually voted in prior elections. We began arresting these individuals this morning, early this morning. My understanding is at least 11 are in custody so far. The rest will be in custody in the near future. In the last seven weeks alone, the Department of Justice has charged 113 aliens across 20 states with illegal voting and registration offenses.
00:26:03
Speaker 1: Since the beginning of this administration, we.
00:26:05
Speaker 9: Have charged 156 people with voting fraud related offenses.
00:26:10
Speaker 1: These are not isolated instances.
00:26:13
Speaker 9: We are investigating thousands of more similar cases throughout the nation.
00:26:18
Speaker 1: Here in Wisconsin, we have actually had a couple of recent examples of federal charges filed against illegal immigrants voting as well. But the Wisconsin Elections Commission just made it next to impossible to stop illegals or any other non-citizen or otherwise ineligible voter from taking part in the midterm election. On Thursday, WECC unanimously voted to approve guidance stating that each one of Wisconsin's nearly 800 municipal clerks cannot use the federal systematic alien verification for entitlements database or save for citizenship checks ahead of voting. They argue that Wisconsin statute 6.36 which bars election officials from disclosing voters personal information, date of birth, social security number to anyone who is not a Wisconsin election official. The only problem with that argument is that there are specific carve outs within that same statute that obviously apply to sharing information with law enforcement agencies for a law enforcement purpose. It is not as though these officials are going to be sharing that personal information with anyone specifically, which is what this is aiming to prohibit. These social security numbers, these personal information data points are going into a database and then the save system is checking to see if they're illegal immigrants. There is no sharing of information that And if there is, it is for a legitimate law enforcement purpose to try to prohibit illegal voting from taking place. Suffice it to say, I believe WECC got this decision very, very wrong. And it certainly seems to me. like the Wisconsin Elections Commission, has no issue with illegal votes being cast in this election. They say, well, it's just fine. The safeguards that we have for preventing illegal voting by non-citizens, those are just fine. Do you know what the safeguards that we have right now are? And this was actually brought up at the meeting on Thursday. Well, the penalty for illegal voting is very strong. Nobody would risk that. So we're probably good. There aren't going to be a whole lot of people who would risk going to prison for illegally voting. Maybe not. But we keep hearing that nobody votes illegally, that the numbers are so small, but it keeps happening. Murder is statistically very rare as well. Would we take safeguards away that sort of discourage people from committing murder. The whole Democrat argument on defying the Second Amendment and taking guns away from people is based on the idea that we can prevent people from killing other people by taking the tools of homicide, away from them. Well, why is it that they won't allow us to take the tools of illegal voting away from non-citizens who are clearly doing it? Unless of course there is a certain comfort with a certain level of illegal votes being cast here in Wisconsin. He just campaigned this weekend with someone who advocated for doing exactly that, Michigan Senator Alyssa Slotkin. at the University of Chicago this week said, yeah, we should prosecute Trump because that would dissuade a whole lot of young people coming out of college from thinking, hey, I can go work for the Trump administration. That's what I'm saying.
00:30:21
Speaker 10: I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president, but on the people who enabled him. I want young people coming out of school to say, should I go work for the Trump administration?
00:30:32
Speaker 1: Like, that sounds fun.
00:30:33
Speaker 3: I might get an opportunity.
00:30:34
Speaker 10: I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want. And so let me avoid participating in that. I want that deterrence message.
00:30:46
Speaker 1: Just so we're clear, she is talking about the worst form of weaponization of government, of prosecutorial misconduct, of horrible, horrible, tyrannical style rule. And she's just advocating it for it flippantly. Could they break that drought in just a couple of days? It certainly seems like it. The Brewers were by far the best team in baseball all season, and now they've got to win just four more games to bring a championship back home to Milwaukee. Welcome back to the Dan O'Donnell Show. This is why I said this is the most important week of the entire election cycle. It's not just the start of in-person early voting tomorrow. It's not just the one gubernatorial debate on Wednesday night. David Crowley and Tom Tiffany are going to square off. It's the fact that the entire state is not going to be focused on voting, not going to be focused on politics, not going to be focused on anything except Milwaukee Brewers fever. Yes, people are still obviously going to vote, but it's not going to be as top of mind as it otherwise would be. There is going to be a unique change here in Wisconsin, unlike any other state, including Ohio and Florida, because there isn't that same level of hyper focus on the local sports team like there is here. This also helps to explain why. The extreme demand for World Series tickets, the fixed supply, and the lack of price equilibrium that has caused World Series tickets to go sky high. We are going to explain how the Brewers got to the World Series and also why those tickets are so high. The 5 o'clock hour using market principles. We're going to do a little lesson today. in economics using how the brewers play baseball, how it is that they maximized a style of play that the rest of the league ignored. It's sort of like money ball 2.0. There was a great little segment I ran into over the weekend on a baseball podcast that I've just got to share with you because it is tremendous. And it explains why the brewers went from a team that would compete occasionally to pre-2018, and they turned into a perennial contender. The team that has won, I believe, their second only to the Dodgers in terms of total wins since either 2018 or 2020. There is an explanation for that. We'll get to it in the five o'clock hour. Plus, a very special guest. Glenn Youngkin, the former governor of Virginia, is going to join us on the phone to talk about the state of play here in Wisconsin, to talk about school choice. He is very intimately involved in that nationwide movement. That's sort of been his thing since he was term limited in Virginia. And we will talk to him right away at about 5.06, so coming up in less than one hour. Stay tuned for special guest Glenn Youngkin to join us here on the Dan O'Donnell Show. The president and first lady were in the White House Rose Garden today as the president signed an executive order creating a new women's health division at the NIH National Institute of Health and a White House White women's task force president trump shortly before signing that expressed dismay that there wasn't already a women's health division.
00:35:16
Speaker 11: Executive order i'll sign in just a moment we'll direct the department of health and human services to establish a new women's health division within the national institute of health that's a big deal they've been after it for a long time i don't know why they don't do things i don't know why they haven't done things there's so many things that would seem so basic. Think of it a women's health division. And it hasn't been done, but it's been done under Trump.
00:35:44
Speaker 1: And it's been done because First Lady Melania Trump was the driving force behind its creation. She has been really focused on this since returning to the White House. She spoke this morning. Now is the time.
00:35:59
Speaker 12: This is the time. This is a transformative moment for women in America. Beginning today, we will change the reality of women's health. Previous generations fought for women's rights. Our generation will fight to discover the cures that will ensure a woman can live her life in health and to the fullest.
00:36:29
Speaker 1: The president, in a touching moment with the first lady, praised her drive and her dedication. and said she works so hard. He is so proud of all the work she's done as First Lady. Melania works so hard, you wouldn't believe it.
00:36:46
Speaker 11: And she's accomplished so much in a very short period of time. So I think everybody here very much appreciates the job you do.
00:36:52
Speaker 1: You don't need to do it, but you do. Thank you.
00:36:56
Speaker 3: Please.
00:36:58
Speaker 1: This afternoon, President Trump took off for a midterm rally in Kansas, supporting Senator Roger Marshall. At Heartland Credit Union Arena in Park City, Wichita, it's basically a suburb of Wichita, Marshall faces a surprisingly competitive race against Democrat Adam Hamilton in a state that has not elected a Democratic senator since 1932. President Trump made a number of comments to reporters as he was about to board Marine One to go to Joint Base Andrews, particularly on all of the unrest and rioting that has plunged France into a state of chaos. In fact, French authorities have now admitted that they have lost control of many major cities. President Trump ties that to unchecked migration. And you know what? He's absolutely right. We will dive into that later on this hour here on the Dan O'Donnell show. Alyssa Slotkin, today's unhinged liberal of the day, a senator from Michigan, is taking a whole lot of heat today. for these comments that we played for you at the end of last hour, saying that she wants to use the power of prosecution to deter young people from going to work for the Trump administration. That's what I'm saying.
00:38:22
Speaker 10: I want to look at these signature cases and not just focus on the president, but on the people who enabled him.
00:38:28
Speaker 1: I want.
00:38:29
Speaker 10: young people coming out of school to say, should I go work for the Trump administration? Like, that sounds fun. I might get an opportunity. I want them to be like, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don't want. And so let me avoid participating in that. I want that deterrence message.
00:38:47
Speaker 13: Yeah.
00:38:47
Speaker 1: The deterrence for people going to work for an administration that you are targeting with prosecutions being the stated reason you are targeting that administration with prosecutions is about the worst, most anti-democratic thing you could possibly do. That is tyrannical behavior. That is behavior that is antithetical to everything this country stands for, which means it's perfectly in line with the way Democrats have behaved and the way Democrats have persecuted Trump. Weirdly enough, right after he announced shortly after the 2022 midterms that he was going to run for president again. Did you notice that within a matter of days, the Biden administration named a special prosecutor to look into January 6th than any other president? number of things that the Mar-a-Lago documents, there was an investigation that was resurrected, a prosecution of Trump, the so-called zombie case that was resurrected in the Manhattan DA's office. Weirdly enough, within like two to three weeks after Trump announced he in late November of 2022 that he was going to run for president again, the number three guy in the Biden Justice Department leaves this incredibly prominent, incredibly cushy role to go become a line prosecutor in the Manhattan DA's office working on blue-collar financial crimes. Seems like quite the step down, right? wrong. It was specifically to prosecute Trump to try to get him behind bars so he wouldn't be able to run for president against Biden in 2024. Then, of course, you had the amazingly corrupt prosecution down in Georgia, where D.A. Fannie Willis used her boyfriend as basically her special investigator, her special prosecutor, solely so she could pretty much pay herself. The boyfriend had never handled a prosecution like the one that she hired him for, but she hired him with taxpayer money to the tune of hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars. At one point, he billed the government 24 straight hours in which he was conferring with the White House's attorneys on how to move forward with this prosecution. A, Why would there be cooperation and coordination with the Biden White House on a state level prosecution of Trump tied, of course, to January 6th and be 24 straight hours? You were on the phone with Trump lawyers for 24 consecutive hours. I doubt that very, very much. It was obviously overbilling. There is. A whole lot of concern about self-dealing and corruption in that prosecution. And why did all of this happen? Well, according to Jake Tapper's book about why Biden didn't drop out of the race. Remember, it was it was the Jake Tapper book. He was co-writing this with Alex Thompson came out a couple of years ago. How we all just missed. We all just how did we miss the story? Everybody in media just completely missed the story that Biden was senile. There is a quote in there that explains why Biden didn't just announce very early in the cycle that he wasn't going to run for reelection. Tapper quotes him as telling aides it's because he thought Trump would be in prison and he would have an easy path to reelection. Who is going to put Trump in prison? Either the special prosecutor that he unconstitutionally and unlawfully appointed. That, by the way, was in fact a determination by the United States Supreme Court. It was either going to be special prosecutor Jack Smith or it was going to be the New York prosecution where, remember, the number three official in the Trump Justice Department, the Biden Justice Department, resigned solely so he could prosecute Trump by resurrecting this long dormant case. So Alyssa Slotkin is saying, we want to do that, but we're going to do it not just to jail our political enemies, but also to deter anyone from going to work for Trump because they would be too scared that they too would go to prison. That is the grossest form of of abuse of governmental power that I can think of. Sure enough, though, Alyssa Slotkin was campaigning with David Crowley either this weekend or some point in the recent past. She posted just yesterday a video of her laughing and joking with David Crowley about getting out the vote.
00:43:45
Speaker 2: Hey, everyone.
00:43:46
Speaker 10: I'm Senator Alyssa Slotkin here visiting the great state of Wisconsin, fellow Midwestern swing state of Wisconsin, to help elect your next governor, David Crowley.
00:43:55
Speaker 14: Thank you so much for joining us. We want everybody to understand that there's so much at stake in this election. Look, I am running against a MAGA loyalist, a Trump loyalist, an election denier who voted against certifying the 2020 elections. You don't want that to be the governor certifying the 28th presidential election.
00:44:12
Speaker 1: So we need everybody involved. Chip in today if you can.
00:44:16
Speaker 10: Donate, volunteer, make sure to get your ballot in. We need more badass Midwestern leaders anywhere we can get them.
00:44:23
Speaker 3: Wisconsin, do your thing.
00:44:24
Speaker 1: Because we get shit done. Yeah, when I look at David Crowley and his comically oversized glasses, I think badass Midwestern leader. So very simple question to David Crowley. Do you support the prosecution of your political enemies solely so that no one will ever go to work for them? This is a dead serious question because one of your top surrogates, clearly believes that. All right, time now to know the difference between financial advisors. We go to Dave Spano, the CEO of Annex Wealth Management. Dave, thank you for indulging me. I know we went way late with that, but I had to get the Alyssa Slotkin thing in because it is just so egregious what it is that she was advocating for. So stocks and the market, generally speaking, has limited predictive value, right? The market is oftentimes reactive, right? But what we are seeing now, a little over two weeks to go before the midterm elections, is the market starting to perhaps price in Democrats at the very least winning the House of Representatives.
00:45:42
Speaker 15: Yeah, you know, I didn't mind sitting and listening. Of course, your show is going to get even better with you guys. Glenn Youngkin, of course, talking about baseball and the Brewers, man, I think everyone should stick around. The show is going to get pretty good.
00:45:53
Speaker 1: But thank you.
00:45:53
Speaker 9: Yes.
00:45:54
Speaker 15: Thank you for that setup. You know, as we As we do our research, we're really putting a lot of our researchers in one of three baskets. And I don't want to get over my skis talking about politics, but how it affects economics and investments is another thing. So either there's investors who believe that Trump has a trick up his sleeve and he's going to pull something out before the election that will determine the outcome. There's the second bucket in the middle who say that the Republicans are in trouble, but they're going to squeeze by was with a razor thin in the Senate. Or the third bucket is the blue wave is at hand and it's already happening. And so we're starting to look at the stocks and how they trade. And so there is and there has been predictive value. I can remember in the end of 2016, one of our investment strategists was saying, Trump is going to win. And I said, you're crazy. Hillary's got a 90 plus chance of winning. But all of the stocks that were related to Trumpian names were moving in the positive directions and the companies that were related to Democrat stocks were not. And so what we're seeing right now is something of that same manner where companies in, say, sectors such as health care, energy, financials and tech are trading in a way that is suggesting that the Democrats not only win the House, but the Senate. And so we're watching that very carefully because that is the way it's happening right now. But as I said to start, Dan, there are other buckets who people say that Trump is going to pull something out of the hat between now and the election.
00:47:37
Speaker 1: And that's what we're watching. Well, the big October surprise, it has been rumored or theorized for a while, and now you're starting to see kind of open whispers about the possibility that the Iran war ends this week, that there is some sort of agreement signed. That would certainly turn things around, I think, very, very quickly, and it would provide a huge jolt to the party in power. But again, the big issue is the fact that People just don't believe that they could afford their lives anymore. And Democrats have been very, very effective at making people forget that it was them. under Joe Biden that caused the massive spike in prices to begin with. Yes, I have the data to prove that. Coming up tomorrow, actually, I've got a little theory on this. Philosophical versus transactional voters and why this election is very likely going to be decided by the transactional voters. You're going to want to Stay tuned for that. You're always going to want to go to AnnexWealth.com because no matter which way the market is moving, no matter what it is potentially predicting, and obviously I don't like hearing that it's kind of pricing in a Democrat sweep, you need to go to AnnexWealth.com to make sure that your personal portfolio, your family's financial future, is as secure as it can be. What we do know is that uncertainty is the coin of the realm. Nobody knows who's going to win an election in two weeks. Nobody knows when or if Iran is going to end. What we can do is to be best prepared for it. it, and you want to do so with a free review of your portfolio at AnnexWealth.com. He is Dave Spano. I am Dan O'Donnell. We will be right back in just chaos that has been gripping France for weeks now and is now spread to Italy, where there were attempts at damaging the cathedral there, known as the Duomo. There was a 140-plus-year-old town hall burned down. In a small city in France, Paris has sort of been the epicenter of these protests that we are still rather laughably being told are simply students who are upset about class sizes and chronic underfunding of their public school system. They may have started that way as very small-scale protests, but even French media is now reporting that the drivers of the unrest and violent rioting, the fiery but mostly peaceful protests, if you will, the drivers are now Antifa far-left radicals and migrant gangs. President Trump today, before leaving for a campaign stop in Kansas... where he is boosting Senator Roger Marshall as Republicans try to keep the Senate, he was asked about the situation in France and said, look, this is the result of unchecked mass migration.
00:50:48
Speaker 3: Well, the France thing is a.
00:50:49
Speaker 13: Very sad situation, what's happening in France. Because what's happening in France has to do with immigration, not schools, not anything.
00:50:58
Speaker 1: It's immigration. And I told.
00:51:01
Speaker 13: President Macron, close up your borders. I told him the first time I met him, which was years ago in my first term, close up your borders. You're going to have nothing but trouble.
00:51:11
Speaker 1: And they got a lot of trouble.
00:51:13
Speaker 13: They let people into their country that don't love their country.
00:51:16
Speaker 1: They don't love their buildings. They don't love their art.
00:51:19
Speaker 13: And I said, the first time I met Macron, I said, you got to close up your borders. You're going to ruin your country. And they've ruined their country. It's going to be hard to get it back, but hopefully France will come back.
00:51:33
Speaker 1: It's not just France, England, Italy, which held strong for a while under the very, very good prime minister that they have there. Really, the only places that haven't been affected by mass migration in Europe. have been Poland, have been the Czech Republic, have been places with traditionally very conservative governments that have closed their borders to the massive flow of migrants from the Muslim world stemming from the Syrian civil war about 10 or 11 years ago. That flow of migrants just never stopped. The borders were open in Europe. You look back to Brexit. Do you remember that when Great Britain left the European Union? The big driver of that was illegal immigration. Brits said, we don't want mass migration. Well, turns out you get a string of left-wing governments in there and your borders are open regardless. London has opened its doors to so many Muslims from the Middle East that the number one name in pretty much every single major metropolitan area in Great Britain, the number one baby name for boys, yeah, Mohammed. That happens only because it is allowed to happen. Why do you think every single left-wing socialist-leaning government, every single one, at the exact same time, they all decided, hey, we need to have mass migration? Now, there is some good news on this. Do we have the Marco Rubio cut? No, we don't have that one. I'll tell you what, we're going to take a quick break. Producer Doug, Marco Rubio actually sort of talked about this. This was after his big speech in Athens. He was asked about USAID funding and whether we were actually paying for left-wing radical governments across South America. We'll get into that coming up next and why Democrats absolutely do want to bring that sort of chaos here to the United States, even here to Wisconsin. It was sort of lost in the shuffle of the Brewers making the World Series for the first time in 44 years late last week. Would you believe the woman running for Secretary of State here in Wisconsin says her top priority is Is driver's licenses for illegals? You better believe it. She wants them here. She wants them voting. She wants to use their political power to elect people like her. This is all related. It is all a plan for a permanent Democrat majority by shifting populations and bringing the third world into the Western world. It's not a racist conspiracy theory. It's the great replacement. It's happening. They're open about it. We'll get into that coming up next here on the deck. The truth is that Democrats absolutely do want to turn America into France and would do so if given half the chance. How do I know? Because they already did by opening up the floodgates to pretty much every third world country on earth. The second that they took office, when Biden became president and Democrats had simultaneous control over both houses of Congress, the floodgates were thrown wide open. The border was completely opened up and there were migrant caravans moving northward pretty much ever since. I was talking before the break about Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, talking about the global leftist agenda and how it was largely being funded by USAID, namely your tax dollars. Well, earlier this year, the floodgates of money from USAID, the spigot was just turned off. USAID was disbanded because of all the waste, all the fraud and all the abuse. What if I told you that since USAID was made defunct, conservative parties in South America are a perfect eight for eight in winning elections. Eight different elections have been held across South America, and the conservative party has won all eight. Put another way, The socialist governments or socialist parties, which either were in power or were seeking to take power back, have been beaten back because, weirdly enough, they no longer have massive cash advantages. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is actually asked about that sort of in a joking way by a podcast host. And Rubio said, no, I don't have any hard data to say that, yes, the spigot of money being turned off from USAID is the reason, but it sure is a hell of a coincidence, isn't it?
00:56:52
Speaker 16: It really is remarkable just how fast this has happened across the Western Hemisphere. Why is it happening this quickly? I've seen some people out there suggesting, oh, it's USAID is gone, so they're not funding the NGOs and they're not funding the left. I don't know if that's why, but maybe that's part of it.
00:57:09
Speaker 1: But what do you think?
00:57:10
Speaker 8: You know, I don't think it's a coincidence to some extent that pulling foreign aid into the State Department and away from the sort of independent do-whatever-they-want organization, which was USAID, has had a direct impact on what's happening in the region.
00:57:24
Speaker 17: Absolutely.
00:57:24
Speaker 14: Absolutely.
00:57:24
Speaker 8: There are groups in that region that are clearly aligned with anti-American leftists. Now, they may be dressed up as an environmental NGO or a group that works for the indigenous population in these countries, but the reality of it is they are part of this anti-American global network of NGOs. And we were funding many of them. We were funding many of them. Now, our foreign aid, we're still the most generous country in the world in foreign aid. The difference is our foreign aid is now designed specifically to further.
00:57:50
Speaker 14: The national interest.
00:57:51
Speaker 8: We are not going to pay for things that are bad for america we're not going to give money to people organizations that hate america and that's what that's that now whether i can prove to you that had a direct impact on these elections i'm not sure we've studied it but i don't think it's a coincidence in my personal view.
00:58:08
Speaker 1: Nobody thinks it's a coincidence because It also, I don't believe, is a coincidence that we have cracked down on waste, fraud, and abuse, not just in one area of government spending, USAID, but pretty much across the board. Through Doge, we've dramatically reduced the size of the federal government. That's something that Trump 2.0 does not get enough credit for. The federal government's non-military employment level is at its lowest level since the 1960s. We have cut hundreds of thousands of jobs in the second Trump term, many of which were doing nothing except allowing completely unqualified people in Washington, D.C. to draw a six-figure taxpayer-funded paycheck and get lavish benefits also paid for by you and me. I don't think it's a coincidence that Democrats are suddenly unable to fund pretty much anything they want to do alone. election-wise. Now, again, it may not matter because Trump is so unpopular that Democrats are just going to win everything there is to win. But when I see panicked articles like the one that came out in late September from the Associated Press about how America Votes, which funds 400 different get out the vote operations, is down 40 percent in its funding in the same year that we cut waste and fraud out of government, which was very likely funding in a roundabout way. America Votes, which only exists to get out the vote for leftists and for Democrats, is And then you see in the mail-in balloting returns, especially here in Wisconsin, yes, mail-in voting is down. People are going back to pre-pandemic voting patterns. But when we see massive declines just in Milwaukee and just in Madison, that tells me that Democrats simply don't have the money to run their massive get-out-the-vote-slash-ballot-harvesting operation. This also means that Democrats need to get votes from somewhere else. Where would that be?
01:00:25
Speaker 18: Why?
01:00:25
Speaker 1: From Wisconsin's large collection of illegal immigrants, of course. So says Jocasta Zamarripa. She is a state legislator and she's also the candidate for secretary of state that Democrats are running against Republican Jay Schrader. Well, the two of them had a debate last Thursday. Normally, Nobody really pays attention to the Secretary of State's race because, unlike in other states, it does not run the election. Secretary of State's office is not responsible for running elections here in Wisconsin. We have the authority over that to the Wisconsin Elections Commission. This debate is a big difference. This race is now a big difference because Zamarripa came right out and said what we Republicans have been alleging Democrats want forever. They want as many illegal immigrants into this country as possible so that they can get them driver's licenses and get them voting. This is why I always call it not a pathway to citizenship, but a pathway to voting. Zamarripa just came right out and said the quiet part out loud. yeah, my number one priority, driver's licenses for undocumented people so that they can vote. In fact, I want to have a conversation with David Crowley about doing just that if he's elected governor.
01:01:52
Speaker 18: I really want to sit down and talk with him a bit about pro-immigration policies that I hope that he'll be supportive of. And I feel confident he will be. But I just want to have that conversation so I can say it definitively as I go around the state to talk to Latino Wisconsinites about why, if they have the right to vote, they should be voting for David Crowley on November 3rd.
01:02:12
Speaker 3: What would you like to see in Wisconsin?
01:02:14
Speaker 18: My number one priority is to see the governor sign driver's licenses for undocumented Wisconsinites into law. And I hope that that governor will be David Crowley.
01:02:25
Speaker 10: And have you heard at all from David Crowley on that specific item or waiting to connect with him?
01:02:30
Speaker 18: We're going to talk soon, but I feel confident. I know as a legislator, he was supportive of my, that was my legislation when I was in the state assembly. I know that he was supportive. I believe that he'll be supportive as our next governor, but I want to have that conversation to be able to say it definitively. But driver's licenses for undocumented Wisconsinites is going to improve the public safety of of all Wisconsinites, whether they're fifth generation U.S. citizens or brand new, newly arrived immigrants, because it's going to mean more folks with a driver's license driving on our roads, more folks accessing affordable automobile insurance.
01:03:06
Speaker 1: And, you know, if they use those licenses to vote, that would be great because, again, she opened that answer in the debate by saying, I want them to be able to vote. The whole point is to get them driver's licenses, get them here and get them voting. And David Crowley apparently said, is totally cool with this. He supported Joe Costa's legislation when he was back in the state legislature. He was a big fan of driver's licenses for illegals. Of course, Democrats want this, ladies and gentlemen. They want America to be decreasing. How many different times can they say America is too white, that we have a problem with whiteness? That whiteness is akin to evil. That every bad thing is because of whiteness. How many different ways can they say they don't like whiteness? And then they open up the borders to the non-white world so we can presumably bring some of those non-evil people into this country and vote against the evil white or perhaps orange Donald Trump. They are so beyond open about this, and they have been forever. And from 2021 to 2025, they proved that the ultimate aim is to just get as many people into this country as possible, move them around the country, get them in as many different states as possible to try to monkey with the populations so that they can get the people in the swing states to that they want for pure numbers, even if not a single illegal ever casts a ballot. And we know from the prosecutions announced today in California, from a handful of prosecutions, even here in Wisconsin, we don't, percentage-wise, or in terms of sheer numbers, have a massive illegal immigrant population. But the point is, nobody's quite sure how many illegals are in this country, because we've never really had an accurate count, because our borders have been open for so long. The only brief respite that we have had is in the latter part of the first Trump administration, and then throughout the second Trump administration, the second Trump term. And what have we had? What In American history, since they started keeping track of homicides back in 1900, single biggest decline in the violent crime rate since they first started keeping track of such statistics in the 1930s. Clearly, this is having an impact. Clearly, closing your border keeps you from devolving into the chaos that they're seeing right now in France. Democrats want to open the borders. They want to foment that chaos. They're the ones who say, what is it? A riot is the language of the unheard. They hate Martin Luther King Jr. 's message about equality. They love his message about rioting. Weird how that works, isn't it? So they import as many people as humanly possible. They say things like Joe Costa just did. Yeah, we need to get them driver's licenses. Yeah, we need to get them into voting booths. This is my single biggest priority. And oh, yeah, you know, if they if they vote for us and give us a permanent Democratic majority, then all the better. Folks, you want America to turn into France? The first step is to elect Democrats two weeks from tomorrow. If they take over the House, if they take over the Senate, they will be very well positioned to win the presidency in 2028. And then I am absolutely telling you it is done. It is over. They will open the borders so quick. They will import a majority of people, get them to be American citizens, get them voting and import themselves a new governing majority that we don't have a prayer of stopping. This has always been their plan for decades. This has been their plan. This is why I say ultimately stopping the mass migration that Democrats want to continue. They want to start it up again. They see this as just a brief pause during Trump. They want this to happen again so that they don't ever really have to worry about elections. They're terrified of the 2030 census and subsequent redistricting. Because so many people are fleeing their horribly run states and going to great Republican run states like Texas and Florida. They think they can offset those changes and they think they can permanently alter this country forever. through unchecked third world migration. Weird that they don't want tons and tons of people from Europe. They hated the fact that we brought in, what, a couple dozen Afrikaners, white South Africans? Oh my God, how dare we bring them into this country? Why do they only want third world people who are much more likely to support socialist-style governments? Weird how that works, isn't it? You're listening to the Dan O'Donnell. Just what an amazing, amazing moment for the Brewers to go back to the World Series. First time in 44 years. We're going to have a little lesson in economics using World Series tickets and also the Brewers changing their style of play along about 2018. Great segment from a baseball podcast. That's sort of along those same lines. It's Moneyball 2.0 they're talking about. The Brewers just get on base. They take a bunch of pitches. The entire country is seeing it now. They foul off an ungodly number of pitches. the uh big at bat from uh not vaughn the uh series at jake bowers thank you the nlcs mvp uh what did he foul off like eight pitches. He took something like 11 or 12 before hitting that home run. Just unbelievable stuff. Fall Fortune Cash Contest time. Nationwide keyword in the contest is bills, B-I-L-L-S, bills. $ 1, 000 to pay your bills or perhaps to put towards Brewers World Series tickets. If you go to our website and enter the keyword bills. Joining us now, Very special guest here on the Dan O'Donnell Show. He is formerly the governor of the great state of Virginia. He now runs Empowering America's Parents. It is a policy group that pushes something that is very near and dear to our hearts here in Wisconsin, school choice. Glenn Youngkin, my guest on the program. Glenn, it is great to have you back, sir.
01:09:56
Speaker 2: It's awesome to be with you, Dan. And by the way, folks all over the country have been cheering for the Brewers. And I got to tell you, when Jake Byers hit that home run, there were people standing up in family rooms cheering all over the country. So it's so fun to watch.
01:10:11
Speaker 1: Now, is that they were cheering for us or they were cheering against L.A.? It's okay, sir. It's okay. I remember the Brewers losing to the Dodgers, or the Dodgers, the Nationals back in the playoffs in, what was that, 2019?
01:10:23
Speaker 2: Yeah.
01:10:25
Speaker 1: On route to their World Series. It's OK to root against L.A.
01:10:30
Speaker 2: Well, you know, and it's a similar moment, right? Because, you know, that that tenant run from the Nationals was led by guys who sat in the box. and literally fouled off, fouled off, fouled off, fouled off, and then all of a sudden got on base and scored. And you just watch that Nats team. And we've been watching the Brewers down the stretch, and we're kind of like, wow, this team's got what it takes. They are playing baseball literally like it was designed to be played. And that's why the nation's cheering for them, because it's just so fun to watch.
01:11:03
Speaker 1: That's actually interesting. There are some parallels you got. Steven Strasburg back in 2019, he's sort of like the Miz, the young phenom pitcher. Scherzer could be Logan Henderson. You've got guys who are not superstars in their own right up and down the lineup, but you're right. They take a lot of pitches. They get on base. That's a great parallel, sir. We can have you on to do baseball analysis as well as school choice and political analysis, but we're really here for your expertise on the latter. So school choice is never a huge issue in elections, but it really should be because Wisconsin students are falling farther and farther and farther behind, so much so that the Department of Public Instruction here has actually tried to sort of mask the failure by unilaterally changing the cut scores and standards on the state exam. But the national exams, they tell this story. Wisconsin is now the worst state for the black-white disparity in terms of educational outcomes, fourth-grade reading, fourth-grade math. Wisconsin is now, I believe, the worst state in the country for educating black students, particularly because Milwaukee public schools have been so bad. the saving grace for a whole ton of black students has always been school choice. We were the national leader. And now, sir, I'm so happy that your group is again bringing this issue to the front burner where it needs to be.
01:12:38
Speaker 2: Well, first of all, the statistics are shockingly bad all over the country where we have seen the NAEP scores, which is the nation's report card, constantly demonstrating this decline, this decline that has been seen really since 2012 as.
01:12:57
Speaker 2: The idea of having high expectations and asking a lot out of the kids was completely overwhelmed by progressive left leaders who said, let's lower the requirements to make it easy for kids so we can try to pretend like we're doing better. And the honesty gap, which is what you just described, the NAEP scores, the national scorecard showing where the kids really are versus the state officials who were trying to water down expectations just shows that Literally 60% to 70% of the kids in America aren't proficient at reading and doing math at grade level. It's just crazy bad, and that's why school choice is so important. You're 100% right in talking about Milwaukee, and it's been an inspiration for the whole country. Milwaukee led the nation in school choice, and that's why today we find ourselves, Dan, with this really amazing opportunity, which is the Education Freedom Tax Credit. It was in the Working Families Tax Cut Act passed last summer, summer 2025, July 4th. And it unlocks school choice across the nation, funded by a federal tax credit on a dollar required from states. And it's available to over 90% of kids in America. So here we have Wisconsin that would have 875,000 kids available or eligible for these great scholarships. Scholarships, again, not funded with a dollar from state coffers, no incremental taxes, a federal tax credit available to these kids, and yet Wisconsin hasn't opted in. And it's crazy that Wisconsin hasn't opted in. When you have a Democrat governor in Colorado opt in, Kathy Hochul from New York just committed to opt in. Of course, all Republican governors have opted in. Here we go, Wisconsin, it's time to opt in.
01:14:40
Speaker 1: Sir, I'm sorry, I think you cut out or we had a bad connection there. I thought you said Kathy Hochul from New York opted in? Kathy Hochul, who's like one of the most liberal governors in America, opted in.
01:14:55
Speaker 2: You hit it right on the nose. And she recognizes the truth here, which is this is money that comes into education. The scholarships can be used, yes, for kids who want to go to private school who otherwise can't afford it, but also for kids who are in public school who need extra tutoring and support.
01:15:13
Speaker 1: Yes.
01:15:14
Speaker 2: For families that have a kid that have a developmental disability that need extra education support, they can get scholarships. This is incremental money into education. And every governor in America should be up for this. The governor of Polis, who's a Democrat governor from Colorado, said this is a complete no-brainer. Every governor should opt in. And so I can't scream loud enough from the hilltops to encourage everyone to call your governor. Governor Evers has been against this, and it's Clearly because of teachers unions. But now you have a race between two candidates who literally are going to take different views here. Tom Tiffany said immediately, I would opt in. He voted for it. And you have David Crowley, who every time he's asked about it, hems and haws, as opposed to simply saying, I'm going to opt in. And so I'm hoping on Wednesday night this week at the debate, the questions asked. Where do you stand on this? And I think all voters should know whether this money, which unlocks unbelievable opportunities for almost every single Wisconsin kid, just requires a governor to say, I'm in.
01:16:20
Speaker 1: And it's not money that is coming out of state coffers, right? Federal tax dollars are supporting this. As you said, it's money that's coming into Wisconsin, and it's not being frittered away. And perhaps this is why the teachers' unions are opposed to it. It's not being frittered away on some idiotic program, some new way of teaching kids how to read that's going to be abandoned in three years because it doesn't work. It is money that is going directly to the kids, directly to the parents to get them out of schools that are just failing. And the argument, the pushback that we always get, Governor Youngkin, is invariably, well, this is just taking money out of public schools because public schools are funded by how many students are in. It doesn't matter. We are not Milwaukee Public Schools is getting something like twenty thousand dollars worth student well more than any other district in Wisconsin and I dare say well more than most districts across the country and it is still abysmal it is still failing kids why not why not get the performance of MPS better by opening up competition from schools like say Cristo Rey Jesuit which has just been such an incredible incredible boost to Latino kids Hispanic kids on Milwaukee's south side Why don't we have more of those schools and more kids getting into places where they can thrive and getting money into their hands so their parents can get them to those schools? It's just– or excuse me, Polis is right. It's a no– this is not political. This is not– this is something that crosses party lines. And you would think if David Crowley, the county executive of Milwaukee County– If he really cares about the poor kids of his county who are stuck in these failing schools, he would opt in and he would pledge to opt in. That's my feeling anyway.
01:18:16
Speaker 2: I 100 percent agree. And in fact, everyone supports this. Democrats, Republicans, rural, urban, whether you're black, Hispanic or white. This is a 70-30 issue writ large across all voters. And in fact, it's 85-15 with women because moms understand. They want their kids to have a chance to get extra help if they're going to stay in the public schools or to go to a different school if they choose to do so that fits their kids' needs, wants, and desires. And that's what this is all about. about, empowering parents to make these decisions. And the politicians across this country that say, no, I am going to stand in the way of these scholarships are standing in the way of the educational future of their citizens. And the crazy thing, Dan, is the money will then go someplace else because Because if the governor of Wisconsin doesn't opt in, then those that support school choice in Wisconsin are going to give their money to other states that have opted in. And it's going to unlock that scholarship opportunity other places. I mean, this is worth $ 50, $ 60, $ 70, $ 100 million to most states across the country every year right into their education coffers. And that is both private schools and public schools. And so this is a no-brainer.
01:19:39
Speaker 1: It absolutely is. Former governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin. He is now the head of Empowering America's Parents. to try to get school choice expanded, to try to get every single state, including Wisconsin, to opt in to the Education Freedom Tax Credit. Sir, I know you've got other interviews to do, but very quickly, could I pick your brain, since you are such an astute political mind, just on the state of play as you see it, as we're now two weeks and a day from the midterms here in Wisconsin and across the country?
01:20:13
Speaker 2: This is going to be incredibly tight everywhere in the country, and we all know it. I mean, the Wisconsin race is a toss-up at this point. The polls have it in the margin of error. And therefore, whoever runs the best campaign and gets their voters out is going to win. And it's like that across the entire country today. There are 21 toss-up seats in the House of Representatives. There's nine toss-up seats in the Senate. There's governor's races, of course, including the Wisconsin governor's race. It's toss-up. And therefore, it's all about getting the vote out. And I have to say, that's why these key issues, these key issues around... Is my governor going to support opening up education, freedom, tax credit scholarships so my family can choose where my child goes to school.
01:21:02
Speaker 1: Or get more help?
01:21:03
Speaker 2: These issues matter to voters. We've been up running ads in Wisconsin for this exact reason, to make sure that voters understand that they need to get to the polls, they need to understand these issues, and they have to vote. But this election is going to be 100% determined by the turnout, the turnout on Election Day. And whether people are going to stand up for liberty and freedom or they're going to stay home and concede to a lot of socialists, what's going to happen in this country in a go-forward basis.
01:21:33
Speaker 1: And even if a candidate is not an open socialist, there are so many now in that Democrat caucus just from New York alone. I think in the commie corridor, there are going to be a number of more socialists heading to Congress that since 40 percent of the Democrat voter base now prefers socialist candidates. They are, whether they identify as members of the DSA or not, beholden to a socialist voter base. This is a socialist party now, and the one chance that we have to stop them is by getting out and voting. Glenn Youngkin, my guest here on the Dan O'Donnell Show. Sir, best of luck with expanding school choice, getting more states to opt in. Thank you so much for being so generous with your time, sir.
01:22:18
Speaker 2: Dan, thank you. God bless you. Everybody, get out and vote, and let's make sure that the candidates on Wednesday night answer the question, where do you stand on education freedom tax credits?
01:22:27
Speaker 1: You are listening to The Dad. Wisconsin has a big tie to it, Milwaukee especially. We were the national leader during the Tommy Thompson era. Thompson doesn't, I think, always get the credit that he deserves for being one of the most revolutionary governors when it comes to inner city reform, school choice. Milwaukee was the national leader. Governor Thompson expanded it. You've got welfare reform that became the national model in the mid-1990s. School choice is a big, big issue, but it doesn't always get focused on primarily because a whole lot of people that have power and sway in Wisconsin and across the country, they have no need for school choice. My kids go to public school because we live in an area where the schools are rated among the very best in the state, public or private. People who don't have that same luxury and don't have the, because of that, have the ability to get their kids out of truly awful schools. This would not, folks, this would not be an issue if Milwaukee Public Schools could actually educate students.
01:23:45
Speaker 14: It can't.
01:23:46
Speaker 1: Even one of the best schools, Rufus King, became a national laughingstock because of the fake substitute teacher a few weeks back. This is a massive chronic problem that is decades and decades and decades old. Why not give parents the choice? All right, very troubling story, kind of coming out of various locations across Wisconsin. A number of political figures and entities have received suspicious mail that turned out not to contain a harmful substance, which thank goodness, but it does appear that someone is targeting what they perceive to be liberal institutions as well as Democrat politicians. The story here from jsonline.com.
01:24:40
Speaker 13: U.S.
01:24:40
Speaker 1: Rep Mark Pocan and the Marquette University Law School are among the latest recipients of suspicious mail as occurrences have been reported by election officials and election-related offices across the country in recent days. A hazmat crew from the Madison Fire Department was present Monday afternoon at Pocan's district office near the state capitol building where they responded to a call from a staffer for the Democratic congressman who represents Madison in the surrounding south-central Wisconsin area. Pocan spokeswoman Melanie Conklin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the staffer recognized the piece of mail as matching mailings sent throughout the country that contained an unidentified powdery substance. Conklin said the staffer did not open the envelope and its contents have been sent out for testing. My guess is, based on all the other ones, this is just someone who's wasted an enormous amount of law enforcement and health professionals' time. But ultimately, it's likely just someone trying to get attention, Pocan told the journal Sentinel. And if anyone knows about desperately trying to get attention, it is Mark Pocan. A spokesman for Marquette University also confirmed that a letter consistent with the recent trend of suspicious mail was delivered to the campus intended for the Marquette University Law School poll. The poll, which measures public opinion throughout the state, is frequently used as a reference during election cycles. Marquette spokesman Kevin Conway said in an email, All tests conducted throughout the process were negative and the letter was removed from the premises. We are grateful to law enforcement for their swift attention. The discoveries at Pocan's office and Marquette on October 19th, i.e. today, follow confirmation October 16th from U.S.
01:26:29
Speaker 2: Rep.
01:26:30
Speaker 1: Gwen Moore that her district office in Milwaukee had also received mail containing a suspicious substance. The Wisconsin Elections Commission also confirmed last week that It received a similar piece of mail October 14th. The FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating after several election offices across the country received mailings containing suspicious substances. These included officials in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Ohio. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, and Delaware Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester reported We're also among those targeted. Clearly, it seems that this is somebody who is not particularly bright and fortunately does not have access to ricin or some actually toxic substance. Folks, this is terrorism regardless, and it has no business in the body politic. But lest you think that this only happens going one way. In fact, it's vanishingly rare. that this sort of crap is mailed to Democrats. And I mean that literally because it was just about a week ago that someone mailed literal feces to Tom Tiffany's campaign headquarters from some address in West Bend. Whether it's left or right, it goes without saying this has no business. Beat him at the ballot box. I just don't know. But This is just some deranged moron. I will not hold out the possibility that this is somebody doing this for political effect since it's so close to the election. But the most likely thing is that this is somebody who, as Congressman Pocan said, wants to get attention and is trying to scare people who they don't particularly care for, Democrats and people who they believe are costing Republicans elections. So good that nobody was targeted with anything serious, anything hazardous, terrible that anybody was targeted at a look. I can't stand Pocan. I think Mark Pocan is a horrible human being. I actually wish him nothing but good health and frankly, I rather enjoy beating up on him on air and online. I would love nothing more than for him to come on this radio station. I wish nobody harm. And yes, in case you think that there was a joke that I told that leftists tried to intentionally misinterpret as something that it clearly was not, ask yourself, Why am I still here if I really was calling for what you think I was? I abhor political violence in all its forms. Remember, I am the guy who had to answer his 11-year-old daughter's questions about whether I was going to be assassinated next after Charlie Kirk was murdered. Driving to school September 11th, 2025. And she asked, you know, that guy who got killed yesterday, dad, did you know him? Yes, honey. I did. You know, I, I wouldn't say I knew him. I met him at the Republican convention. I, you know, had him on the show. He goes, well, where was he killed? And I said, well, at a, at a, you know, a college campus. She thinks for a little bit and she asks, do you ever speak on college campuses? I'm like, oh, That's great. She's terrified that her father is going to be murdered for speaking his mind. Now, I abhor political violence because think about it, you absolute buffoons. Who is always a potential target of political violence? Me, right along with Pocan, right along with Gwen Moore. I've actually always had a soft spot in my heart for Gwen Moore. She's a buffoon. But you know what? She's Milwaukee's buffoon. God love her. We're never going to get a Republican congressman in the city of Milwaukee. You could have a lot worse than an amiable dunce like Gwen Moore. The idea that, you know, we wish ill upon our political enemies sort of robs us of the joy of beating our political enemies down. It's like when you get when you're so serious about this stuff, when you're so just it just makes me so mad that you wish ill upon them. You're really doing things wrong. And lest you think not that there is a scoreboard or anything, but folks, there is no contest as to which side is more violent and more unhinged and has been for quite some time. We can go back to historical presidential assassinations, political assassinations, the ideology of pretty much everybody who has engaged in large scale political violence, with the exception of Tim McVeigh in the Oklahoma City bombing. Now, admittedly, that was a massive, massive terror attack, which, of course, Democrats immediately. Do you know who Bill Clinton went out and blamed for Oklahoma City right after it happened? Yeah, if you were around back then. Rush Limbaugh. He blamed Rush Limbaugh and talk radio for that. Did I ever once blame Mark Pocan for the obviously insane lib who sent dog crap to Tom Tiffany? No. But I am saying the unhinged, excuse me, the unhinged just vitriolic hate in politics. This is why I think sports always has such an appeal to me. It always has, because it really is something that brings us together. Ultimately, last night, I had a couple of buddies over. We do a fantasy basketball draft because we're insane nerds, and we were watching Sunday night football, at least. We're also old, so everybody left right around halftime. And my buddy is like a diehard Bears fan. Brewers season ticket holder. He's obsessed with Marquette basketball, loves the Bears because his dad grew up in Kenosha and they got Bears games on TV. He's rooting against the Bears, cheering his heart out for the Cowboys. And we're laughing at him. We're, you know, throwing pillows at him, you know, gently like, hey, screw you. Could you imagine if we took it to that wild vitriolic level? I mean, you do see Brewers, Cubs, Brawls. Inevitably, an American family field when they turn it into Wrigley North or at least try to. But there's just something about everybody coming together and the stakes not being nearly as life or death in sports that is somewhat refreshing. We will get into that and a quick lesson in economics, both from the brewers on the field and also the ticket prices on the secondary market. It's all supply and demand. Welcome back to it. It is not Donald Trump that caused the overwhelming majority of the price shock that led to a hundred dollar basket of goods at the beginning of Biden's term costing $ 125 by the end of it. Do you know what that $ 125 basket of goods is now under Trump? About $ 131. $ 25 of that price increase was under Biden and Democrats, caused by Biden and Democrats, five or six bucks under Trump. That is a normal range of inflation. Biden had anything but a normal range of inflation. He had a price shock, a demand shock, combined with a supply shock that absolutely destroyed this country, possibly permanently. Brewers World Series tickets in a very, very small microcosm is the American economy writ large. Brewers tickets are so high because you have got an inelastic or fixed supply of about 42,000 tickets. In the short run, relative... to how much demand is potentially out there. That is an infinite testimony, small number 42,000 seats. need to service 5.8 million people here in Wisconsin who theoretically could want Brewer tickets. And that's to say nothing of all of the Brewers fans from across the country who maybe moved away but might want to come back and see their team. Not only that, the number is not really 42,000. The number is much, much less. Season ticket holders had first bid at those tickets. They were the ones, if you had a 20-game pack, I believe, or anything more, I swear I'm not a Brewers ticket salesman, but if you want World Series tickets at anything close to face value, the best thing you can do is buy a 20-game season ticket pack because you'll have the first opportunity to get World Series tickets the next time the Brewers are in the series. Hopefully there is baseball next year. There's not a massive lockout. But if the Brewers are playing next year, and this is why you typically will see season ticket sales go through the roof after a team makes the World Series. So not only are there 42,000 potential seats available, there's really only 20,000, maybe even less available on the secondary market. The supply is inelastic, meaning it can't There is a lot of price elasticity. So what this means is that the amount that people are willing to pay is actually surprisingly large. This is creating what's known as a demand shock. The Brewers haven't been in the World Series in 44 years. That has created four and a half decades of pent-up demand. People literally see this. Let's say the Dodgers somehow beat the Brewers and they go back for the third time in as many years and the fourth time in, what, six years since 2020. It's almost ho-hum because they've been there so long. There isn't pent-up demand. The demand was likely satisfied. People who are diehard Dodgers fans and need to get to a World Series game, they have had years and years and years to do so. The Brewers have not. That also creates the perception that it may never happen again because the reality is it may never happen again. Look at Bucs fans. I bit the bullet, so to speak, and I bought three tickets in 2021 to Game 3 of the NBA Finals, so I could take my two boys, because I thought, you know what? They hadn't been back in 50 years, and they may not get back again. They've since traded away Giannis Antetokounmpo. They don't really have a whole lot of trade assets that they can rebuild or tank to get a whole bunch of draft picks to stockpile. It's looking like they may not be back to the NBA finals for a lot, for many, many years. So you've got positive demand shock because of the sheer scarcity of how many times the Brewers have made it into the World Series. Not only that, you are seeing real-world data suggest that the price is actually possibly right, that there is what's known as equilibrium, where buyers are able to meet sellers and they're able to agree on a price at a large scale, meaning the tickets are actually priced about where they should be because you're seeing tickets actually go up because they're getting scarcer and scarcer because people are buying them. The get in price, meaning just to get into the ballpark is now somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 to.
01:40:23
Speaker 11: $ 2, 800.
01:40:24
Speaker 1: For standing room only tickets. That seems utterly insane.
01:40:30
Speaker 12: Why?
01:40:32
Speaker 1: Because it is utterly insane, but people are willing to pay it.
01:40:37
Speaker 2: Why?
01:40:38
Speaker 1: Because there is so much demand. There are so many people who, who potentially could say, you know what? I've done well this year. $ 6, 000 for my wife and I to do something we may never do again. Or how about the people who were 35 years old in 1982? They're either 80 or pushing 80 right now. Do you think they think they could wait for another World Series? I don't think so. The point is that When you ever have a supply shock or a demand shock, prices go haywire. This is exactly what happened under Joe Biden and the Democrats in 2021. Not only did you have a supply shock because Democrats insisted on keeping as many businesses and as many people home as possible. Businesses were closed. Global supply chain was disrupted here at home. Because Democrats made it so attractive for workers to stay on the couch instead of going back into the workforce after they were laid off in the form of enhanced unemployment benefits, stimulus checks. You had a continued demand shock or excuse me, a supply shock of pretty much every good, every service. People simply could not hire workers. And that made the goods and services they produced by definition scarcer. Not only that. Biden and the Democrats imported a massive amount of demand in the form of legal and illegal immigrants who were flooding into this country at unprecedented rates. They all need to live somewhere. They all need to eat. They all need to have clothes. All of this is demand. Supply shock, demand shock, massive inflation. If you want to know why the price of World Series tickets is so high, supply shock, demand shock. There is no supply. There is a massive demand. If you want to know why the price of everything went up so much, supply shock, no supply of anything. The best example of that, try to get a PlayStation 5 for Christmas 2020. It was practically impossible. Demand shock. You've all of a sudden got 10 million new mouths to feed in this country. Of course, Prices are going to go up. Quick lesson in economics about the Milwaukee Brewers. How about the Brewers on the field? How they are playing? Possibly changing baseball. It's a fascinating glimpse into Moneyball. Just about a minute or so left, which means we've got to get right to this. I want to highlight it because it's just so good. It is from the Wake and Rake podcast about how the Brewers changed the way they played in 2018, embraced Moneyball 2.0, and started dominating.
01:43:34
Speaker 17: What the hell is going on in Milwaukee? In 2018, something happened strategically, offensively, This team stopped swinging the bat. They take more pitches in the zone than any other team in baseball. 18.5% called strike percentage. 45.3% swing percentage since 2018. And now I know what you're thinking. This is just basically Billy Bean, Moneyball 2.0. It's play discipline, right? It's trending that direction. AAA affiliate, Nashville Sounds. They have the second highest walk percentage in the minor leagues this year. Their AA affiliate, Biloxi Shuckers. They have the highest walk rate in the Southern League. Their high single A affiliate, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Second most walks in the Midwest single A. The five seasons before the Brewers turned things around. Sixth highest swing percentage in baseball. When the Brewers aren't taking pitches, they hit hard ground balls. That's another strategy that they're taking. Very different than other clubs. The Brewers here in 2026 have a 9.0 average launch angle. That is the lowest. Last year, Milwaukee had the fourth lowest launch angle.
01:44:49
Speaker 1: And we got to cut it off there because we are just running out of time. The Brewers are embracing something totally different. From the rest of baseball, it is Moneyball 2.0. It is finding a weakness in the market. It is finding something that works.
Speaker 1: I'm Dan O'Donnell. I will explain how in just a second. Welcome to another busy broadcast week. 414-799-1130. That is our Carpetland USA Flooring Center talk and text line. 00:00:28
