ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Jeremiah Smith just reminded everyone why he may be the most dangerous receiver in college football.
On this episode of the Buckeyes Daily Blitz on Fan Stream Sports, Jeff “Tito” Thitoff breaks down Ohio State’s 42-19 win over Illinois, a game the Buckeyes controlled from start to finish.
The biggest story was Smith.
🔥 Jeremiah Smith dominated with 12 catches for 217 yards and four touchdowns, tying the Ohio State single-game record for receiving touchdowns while delivering one of the biggest performances of his Buckeyes career.
🎯 Julian Sayin was sharp again, completing 27 of 36 passes for 357 yards and four touchdowns. Ryan Day also praised Sayin’s improved mobility after the quarterback added a seven-yard rushing touchdown, calling that element of his game an “X-factor.”
🏈 Ohio State handled Illinois, but the running game remains a concern. The Buckeyes got the win comfortably, yet the ground attack still hasn’t found the consistency expected from this offense.
🌽 Now comes Iowa.
College GameDay heads to Iowa City as Ohio State prepares for a 3:30 p.m. road matchup against No. 14 Iowa, which is coming off a dramatic 20-19 win over Michigan.
Iowa remains exactly what it’s been for decades — physical, disciplined, committed to the run and extremely difficult to beat at home.
📈 The Buckeyes also climbed to No. 5 in the AP Top 25, keeping them firmly in the College Football Playoff race as the Big Ten picture starts to separate.
Tito breaks down:
- Jeremiah Smith’s monster afternoon
- Julian Sayin’s continued growth
- Ryan Day calling Smith a “cheat code”
- Ohio State’s lingering rushing concerns
- Why Iowa is dangerous
- The changing Big Ten playoff picture
- Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon and Iowa jockeying for position
