Behind Enemy Lines: Scunthorpe United (H) - Season 26/27, Episode 11

🎙️ Behind Enemy Lines: Ep 4 – Scunthorpe United (H)

Welcome to the latest edition of Behind Enemy Lines! Our opposition preview chats drop on matchday mornings before every weekend and midweek fixture to get you prepped for kick-off.

To round off a massive August Bank Holiday double-header, Brunton Park plays host to a heavyweight clash between two historic former Football League clubs as Carlisle United take on Scunthorpe United.

Lee is joined by Barra from The Iron Hour Podcast to get the lowdown on the Iron, who are looking to find their footing after a frustrating start to the campaign following last season’s surprise play-off finish.

In this episode, we discuss:

• 📉 The Reality Check: Navigating a sluggish start to the season, managing expectations after last year’s 5th-place play-off run, and the slide from the Championship to Step 2 and the start of the journey back.
• 🪄 Replacing the 'Cheat Code': The massive void left by Callum Roberts (27 goal contributions last season), spreading the goal load, the strange Connor Smith transfer saga, and losing skipper Callum Howe to injury.
• 🔄 Shared Connections: Hugh Parker’s loan arrival from Hull City (after Scunthorpe accidentally leaked their own signing!), Brad Nicholson’s long-throw weapon, and Harvey Bunker’s impressive form after his past stint at Glanford Park.
• 🧱 Sensible Foundations: Sustainable ownership following years of boardroom turmoil, balancing the budget, and competing in an open National League.
• 🚌 Bank Holiday Away Day: 500+ travelling Iron fans, live coverage on DAZN, and Barra putting his neck on the line with a score prediction for Monday afternoon.

Thanks again to Barra for joining us and keep an eye out for future Behind Enemy Lines episodes across the season!
