ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Auburn football is running out of answers, and the Georgia Bulldogs are waiting in Athens. With Byrum Brown struggling to deliver consistent production, Xavier Atkins unavailable on defense, and Alex Golesh facing difficult decisions about his coaching staff and quarterback situation, the Tigers are entering one of their toughest challenges of the 2026 college football season.
On this edition of the Midweek Auburn Express, we're breaking down Auburn's chances against Georgia, the growing quarterback controversy, and why the Tigers may need to force multiple turnovers just to stay competitive.
Let's start with Byrum Brown.
Auburn brought Brown to the Plains because he already understood Alex Golesh's offense. The expectation was that his experience would help establish a dependable offensive foundation while the coaching staff continued rebuilding the program.
But the results haven't matched those expectations.
Brown has 81 rushing attempts through five games, placing him among the SEC leaders in rushing attempts, even when compared to running backs. So the idea that Auburn isn't using his running ability doesn't necessarily hold up. The bigger problem is that the production hasn't been effective enough.
