ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Auburn football has a player evaluation problem, and five games into the season, it is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
The Tigers entered the season expecting the transfer portal and a significant investment in the roster to produce immediate results. Instead, Auburn has reached the bye week with major questions about whether some of those evaluations missed the mark.
That is Hard Truth No. 2.
This Auburn roster has talent, but too many players expected to become consistent SEC contributors have produced uneven performances. The offensive line is the most obvious concern, but the questions don't stop there. Tight end play has lacked consistency, some additions along the defensive line have been up and down, and Auburn hasn't gotten dependable production from every transfer expected to immediately upgrade the roster.
The offensive line remains the biggest concern.
