ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome to the The Achievers Podcast.
I'm your host, Amber Deibert, Performance Coach. I help enterprise sellers unlock their full potential by aligning their work with how they workout and cleaning up mindset trash, so they can sell more, stress less, and take back control of their time and success.
You plow through your workday, take a two-second break that is really just checking the doctor's office voicemail, and wonder why you have nothing left for your family by 6 pm. You assume more grit will fix it.
In this episode, I unpack why intentional rest is the missing ingredient for high performers, how the stress cycle either raises your capacity or crashes your baseline, and why nature, menstrual cycles, and your favorite workout all point to the same truth: contrast is what makes sustained performance possible.
🎯 In this episode, I riff on:
↠ Why this episode is for the sprinters, the strength trainers, and the high-intensity-with-breaks crowd ↠ The Work Like You Workout® framework refresher and why your workout style maps to your workday ↠ The personal trainer who would not let me pick up the weights again until I had truly rested ↠ How I was doing the exact same skip-the-rest move in my workday and burning out by 5 pm ↠ The fake-rest trap: why calling the doctor's office is not actually a break ↠ What happened when I started doing real sets and reps in my workday ↠ Why your family deserves more than the post-work version of you ↠ The contrast principle: why no shower feels better than the one after four days of camping ↠ The sheepdog herding competition that got me thinking about ups and downs ↠ The stress cycle explained: homeostasis, stress, and intentional recovery ↠ Why intentional rest after stress actually raises your baseline capacity ↠ What happens when you skip the rest, keep stacking stress, and hit the wall ↠ Why post-burnout recovery lands you at a lower baseline than where you started ↠ Cycles in nature, menstrual cycles, and seasons of growth and decay ↠ Why cancer is the only thing in nature that does not decay (and what that tells us) ↠ How leaves falling and decaying feed the next season of growth ↠ The invitation: figure out what real rest looks like for you
