Liam Benjamin: Hello. Teaching is a creative profession. I'm very lucky that I have had such a fantastic career in education, one that has shaped my philosophy towards teaching and learning. I believe that we need to return creativity to a central point of our education system rather than being completely standards driven. I believe that creativity should have a more pivotal role in education. When thinking about how we inspire children. engage learners and connect with parents, there is a huge scope for doing this with a creative lens. What if we started providing teachers with greater autonomy to plan their lessons for the needs of their students, rather than all teachers in the school delivering the same content in the same way across all classrooms? What happens if we make play for all ages part of the curriculum with as much emphasis as maths and science? What happens if we started asking parents to think about the values needed to raise a child and help them to achieve that? Creativity isn't just about the arts, dance, or drama. Creative thinking can be applied to all facets of the education system. I'm starting a renaissance, a conversation that moves the needle of our compass and helps us get back to a world where creative thinking has a much louder voice. Talking of louder voices, this podcast is a chance to celebrate what we love about teaching and hear some unique stories. I hope there is something here for everyone. I've really enjoyed making it and talking to so many passionate and unique people. Welcome to the Renaissance. Welcome to the Teach Me Quickly podcast.
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
The world might not need another podcast, but it certainly does need a conversation surrounding education. I believe that teaching is a creative profession, and I want to unlock stories and opportunities to be more creative. As a passionate advocate for teacher autonomy and student voice, this podcast is just another way I am attempting to connect with educators around the world. I am releasing episodes in batches here and there, but you can also find me on other various social media platforms as I attempt to start a renaissance and change education for the better.
Welcome to the renaissance, welcome to Teach Me Quickly One More Time.
