00:00:00.000 --> 00:01:46.000
If you're a tequila drinker and you haven't explored sotoya, you may be missing out on one seriously good spirit. And today we're going to find out which one deserves a permanent spot at your house. I've got four SOTOLs here today. We've got Naeche Acronymo Saltu Noches and the Soto silver from La Pulga. But once these go into the solo blinds, the bottles no longer matter. No cool labels, no brand reputation, no price influence, just actually what's in the glass. And by the way, you're not going to find out about these bottles on the Tequila report because they're not tequila. But if you love tequila and agave spirits, you absolutely need to check out the Tequila Report. Now go to the tequila report.com, subscribe and sign up. So all four of these hotels are fantastic to me. I really wanted to throw them in a blind to really see which one stands out the most. I will say, if you look at this bottle, it looks like it has not been open. But if you look over my shoulder, you will see that I drained that sultanoche. I do drink sultanoche quite a bit. So I wanted to load these in the solar blind and see which one of these really stands out. When you nose each one of these separately, but like I did before I put them in here, you really get a different nose on each one. Okay. To me, sotol is a really cool spirit. It's not an agave spirit. We're going to call it agave adjacent. It grows from the Dasalurian plant, which grows in the Chihuahuan desert. This one is a perennial, so when they cut the top of it off to harvest the actual pieces, it actually grows 10 more years to create a new pina. That is pretty cool. All of these are made in Mexico. Although some sotols have been being made in Texas, these stay true to their Mexican roots. So let's dive into the nose of each one. There's a very green note to this one. It's got this earthy, smoky note, but it also has almost a juniper type character to it, a nice earthiness. All right, let's dive into this next one.
2
00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:50.000
This one has an earthy, nutty note to it.
3
00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:54.000
Little bit of smoke, but a lot of this earthy nuttiness.
4
00:01:54.000 --> 00:02:50.000
This one actually smells more like a mezcal or a tequila. It has a very green floral note still. Some of that smoky, earthy compound, but almost an agave type note. Lightest nose, but a little bit citrusy. Really no smoke at all. And a nice earthiness. To it. So I'm going to go for the nose. I really like this one. I like this green juniper Note. The next I'm going to say is this one, which has this nuttiness and this earthiness. Then I'm going to say, I like this one with the citrus and this one. I mean, unfortunately, I like all of them, so it's hard to say, but I'm going to rate them that way. So I'm going to go ahead and start with what I think was number four on the nose, on the taste first. Wow. So on the taste of this one, I get that earthiness, but I really get almost like green juniper grassy. Note that earthiness kind of comes in. This one has no smoke to it at all. The finish is peppery and nice. It really warms up very well. So I like that one.
5
00:02:50.000 --> 00:03:09.000
The sweetness of this one, the pecans. Now, this is my most noticeable flavor. This is one that I drink a lot. I can pick this one up. I do believe this is Soltenoches. The nuttiness and the pecans in that is really phenomenal. It's got a great taste, a little hint of smoke, but not in a campfire, smoky way, just in a nice roasted sort of way.
6
00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:45.000
Okay. So the citrus that I got in this, in the nose of this, when I pick up in the taste, there's a really nice sweetness. It's a little bit lighter mouthfeel, but it has a much different finish and basic flavor. You get this nice, cooked flavor. You get this veget, and then this citrus that just opens up, and the finish just keeps on going. That is. That is really good, that greenness of this one. And it has a really drying effect in the mouth. There's a lot of flavor there. This. This. This is really amazing. So I'm going to say. Gosh, I'm going to say this is number one. The. These two here are so close together. And this. This.
7
00:03:45.000 --> 00:04:16.000
It's really hard to choose. Salt hole is so interesting. Each one of these really tastes different. I don't drink salt all enough. I definitely need to be drinking it more. The flavors here are across the board. Each one of these is vastly different. That's what's pretty amazing. There are a couple of different Daisalurian plants. I do know that this one uses two different Daisalurian plants in their production method. I don't know about these two, if they're using multiple varieties or just one. So let's do the reveal. Let's go ahead and say I'm going to call this one number one for today. This one is this one.
8
00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:49.000
Acronym acronymO. So I picked that one as number one today and I'm going to say this one was number two. And like I said, based on my flavor profile, I believe this is Sol to no Chase and that says SOL2. So you see SOL and number two. Then this one here which is I'm going to also call number two is going to be La Puga and then this last one here is going to be Noche. I. I have to say none. Nothing here is a loser.
9
00:04:49.000 --> 00:05:26.000
These are all so good and spending time drinking Sotol will really change your whole thought process around the spirit. If you haven't had it, it is much more vegetal, fruity, earthy, little bit of smoke but not a lot. The smoke really is a second thought. So you definitely have to check these out. Let me know in the comments. Which one of these Sotols have you had and which one do you think would be your favorite in a blind? I'd love to hear from you. I think I have reviews on each one of these. If not, maybe I need to do a review independently of this one. I will do that soon. So let me know in the comments. Let me know what you think about Sotol. Thanks for watching Cheers. Have a great night.
