ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Can being religious actually keep you from Jesus? In this episode of Talk’N Truth, Dan Whitney (Larry the Cable Guy), Pastor Bryan Clark, and special guest Reno Collier continue through the Gospel of Mark and examine why Jesus surrounded Himself with people the religious establishment considered sinners, misfits, and outsiders.
The conversation explores why Jesus chose someone as despised as Matthew to become a disciple, why the Pharisees struggled so much with Jesus, and what modern-day self-righteousness can look like. Reno also shares how hitting rock bottom helped him recognize his need for Christ, while Bryan explains why sometimes the people who believe they are “good enough” can have the hardest time seeing their need for a Savior.
What’s the difference between practicing religion and actually following Jesus? Dan, Bryan, and Reno wrestle with outward appearances, genuine transformation, and what it means to let Jesus change us from the inside out. Jesus isn’t looking for people with perfect records. He’s calling people who recognize their need and are willing to trust Him.
Perfect for viewers interested in: The Gospel of Mark, Mark 2, religion vs. relationship, Pharisees, Matthew the tax collector, self-righteousness, following Jesus, grace, Christian discipleship, spiritual transformation, and authentic Christianity.
