ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Tell us what you like or dislike about this episode!! Be honest, we don't bite!
Most people know James “Lockie” Locke from TOWIE. But the version the public sees isn’t the one he lives with every day.
In this conversation, James opens up about growing up in a broken home, the emotional walls he built to survive, and how those same walls later destroyed his friendships, relationships and sense of identity. He talks honestly about being judged, misunderstood, and constantly performing a version of himself that never felt real.
James reveals the truth behind his dating breakdowns, life after separation, business failures, and being labelled “the fall guy.” He shares the pressure to stay in shape while suffering body dysmorphia, the impact of fame on his mental health, and why stepping away from TOWIE wasn’t a career move, it was a life decision.

TRANSCRIPT 🔗
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.520
Don't like me, don't fuck me in your podcast.
00:00:01.679 --> 00:00:03.120
The concern off fuck them, Mr.
00:00:03.200 --> 00:00:03.839
James Locke.
00:00:03.919 --> 00:00:06.559
I want to delve deep and try and find the real James Locke.
00:00:06.639 --> 00:00:08.240
It's fundamentally you do need two parents.
00:00:08.320 --> 00:00:11.359
Because if your mum and dad are split up, it does have a knock-on effect.
00:00:11.599 --> 00:00:15.199
You said that one of your downfalls, you invest in girls first.
00:00:15.439 --> 00:00:20.559
What makes me very powerful as a person is that I'm very doesn't mean I don't make the same mistakes.
00:00:20.800 --> 00:00:22.399
You've always put your fingers in different eyes.
00:00:22.559 --> 00:00:24.559
I imagine your dad's an influence in this respect.
00:00:24.800 --> 00:00:26.559
Every day when you work for yourself, you wake up with nothing.
00:00:26.640 --> 00:00:28.480
It's down to you to go out and get it.
00:00:28.559 --> 00:00:30.320
You've got to take control of your own life.
00:00:30.480 --> 00:00:32.000
You said that when you were a kid, you're a little fatty.
00:00:32.159 --> 00:00:39.039
Last time you've seen me on rips, if I, you know, in a couple of weeks' time was pictured eating a fucking donut, big fat fuck, that would make your headline nudes.
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:41.920
You've been quite open with your battles with body dysmorphia.
00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:43.200
You're finding fault for yourself.
00:00:43.359 --> 00:00:44.000
I look shit there.
00:00:44.159 --> 00:00:44.640
No, you don't.
00:00:44.719 --> 00:00:47.359
No one thinks about you as much as you think about yourself.
00:00:47.439 --> 00:00:48.320
That's what you need to remember.
00:00:48.479 --> 00:00:51.359
Is that something that's developed what we've been on the TV and more in the public eye?
00:00:51.520 --> 00:00:53.920
Whether you like it or not, this is a very vain industry.
00:00:54.079 --> 00:00:56.079
The better you look, the more money you make.
00:01:02.079 --> 00:01:03.119
What about anxiety?
00:01:03.200 --> 00:01:05.200
I think you you you've you've struggled with that as well.
00:01:05.439 --> 00:01:08.560
Anxiety, I think everyone struggles with anxiety in some aspect.
00:01:08.879 --> 00:01:11.040
Even me, someone that comes into the room, I'm very confident.
00:01:11.120 --> 00:01:19.920
I go into certain situations, you know, I meet a lot of people from different backgrounds, you know, as you probably do, um, with business, uh, events, networking.
00:01:20.159 --> 00:01:27.760
And, you know, sometimes it is when you're going to into an environment that you you're not comfortable with, you know, they're not one of your own.
00:01:27.840 --> 00:01:31.920
If you're like, not something you're brought up with or brought up around, where it's second nature.
00:01:32.159 --> 00:01:35.760
It can be uncomfortable and it will give you anxiety.
00:01:35.840 --> 00:01:40.400
Like I could have done a podcast with someone else, and that person I might never have met before.
00:01:40.719 --> 00:01:45.920
It's natural, it might be anxiety, it might be minimal anxiety, but it's still anxiety to a certain degree.
00:01:46.079 --> 00:01:50.799
Turn up the you know, the anticipation, you know, apprehension of meeting that person.
00:01:50.879 --> 00:01:52.879
You don't know, you know, you need to gauge that person.
00:01:52.959 --> 00:02:00.560
I could have sat here, not got on, you could have been hard, whoever you are, like hard work, and it would have made this podcast painful.
00:02:00.799 --> 00:02:02.079
And how how do you control?
00:02:02.319 --> 00:02:06.400
I mean, I guess for you or for the people, what do you do to make it better?
00:02:06.719 --> 00:02:07.599
Again, overthinking.
00:02:07.680 --> 00:02:09.039
Overthinking is the worst thing in the world.
00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:15.599
Overthinking, overanalysing, see whether it be body dysmorphia, um, and you're overanalyzed, don't stop.
00:02:15.759 --> 00:02:16.800
Stop overanalysing.
00:02:16.879 --> 00:02:18.960
Take a couple of pictures, just stop.
00:02:19.039 --> 00:02:22.080
You have to just stop yourself, you know, and be like, listen, that's sweet.
00:02:22.639 --> 00:02:23.759
That one's fine, done.
00:02:23.919 --> 00:02:24.560
Leave it at that.
00:02:24.719 --> 00:02:25.599
Don't keep looking at it.
00:02:25.840 --> 00:02:26.240
Pick a picture.
00:02:26.400 --> 00:02:28.800
John's saying, go into a room, don't overthink it.
00:02:28.879 --> 00:02:31.680
I could sit in there thinking, oh, is he thinking I'm talking all the bollocks?
00:02:31.919 --> 00:02:33.039
Wherever I am, whether I'm not.
00:02:33.360 --> 00:02:34.639
We're here now, we're having a chat.
00:02:34.719 --> 00:02:35.919
This is real, this is raw.
00:02:36.080 --> 00:02:37.439
You know, no smoke or mirrors.
00:02:37.520 --> 00:02:38.240
It is what it is.
00:02:38.400 --> 00:02:43.680
Stop worrying about how people look so I can be sitting there thinking about, oh, what people are gonna think about what I'm saying, and he's gonna think, oh, is he talking?
00:02:44.159 --> 00:02:44.560
Fuck him.
00:02:44.800 --> 00:02:45.680
They can turn it off.
00:02:45.840 --> 00:02:46.159
Turn it off.
00:02:46.319 --> 00:02:47.840
You don't like it, don't listen.
00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:49.280
You don't like me, don't follow me.
00:02:49.439 --> 00:02:52.000
Don't like me, don't be around me, don't invite me on your podcast.
00:02:52.080 --> 00:02:55.439
It is this is me accepting who you are, being comfortable with that.
00:02:55.520 --> 00:02:56.800
That's the power, you know?
00:02:56.879 --> 00:03:07.599
And like I said, even though I'm this is I'm this self-aware, and I'm which is a power in itself, I still have days, good and bad days, where I will overanalyze certain things, you know.
00:03:07.759 --> 00:03:23.120
Um, and it just is what it is, and it's heightened in this day and age because of everything, you know, social media, um, media in general, you know, what what we're told to look like, eat, drink, sleep, whatever, whatever we're told to be as a person, is overanalysed anyway.
00:03:23.280 --> 00:03:29.919
And then being in this industry when you're actually that person in the magazine, it's then tenfold, which makes it a lot more difficult.
00:03:30.080 --> 00:03:34.240
Now, I'm not sitting here saying, I want, you know, I've done this again, I can say have a good morning Britain.
00:03:34.319 --> 00:03:39.280
I've done good morning in Britain the other day, and I spoke about, I'm not looking for, I was just making people aware of it.
00:03:39.360 --> 00:03:44.879
The people, even like me, that people might look up to, and people might think, listen, he's a good-looking guy, he's in shape, he's very confident.
00:03:45.120 --> 00:03:51.919
Even someone like me, probably more so someone like me, suffers from body dysmorphia because it's that pressure.
00:03:52.319 --> 00:03:56.879
In fact, if I all of a sudden I was putting a lot of weight, straight away, tabloids, what's happened to Locking?
00:03:56.960 --> 00:03:57.520
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:03:57.599 --> 00:03:58.639
I'd be in the tabloids.
00:03:58.719 --> 00:03:59.680
I'd make Danny Mal.
00:03:59.840 --> 00:04:10.879
If I turn up one day and I was fat, say like last time you've seen me on ripped, if I if I, you know, in a couple of weeks' time was pictured eating a fucking donut, big fat fuck, that would be that would make headline news.
00:04:10.960 --> 00:04:12.479
You think, how is that important?
00:04:12.879 --> 00:04:13.599
How's that listen?
00:04:13.840 --> 00:04:16.160
How is that the the national news?
00:04:16.399 --> 00:04:19.680
But it would, and that's when the added pressure comes, it's what people don't acknowledge.
00:04:19.839 --> 00:04:21.120
It's what I was trying to get at.
00:04:21.279 --> 00:04:24.000
Um, and then also what I was letting people know that it's okay.
00:04:24.160 --> 00:04:27.199
Listen, it's listen, you don't gotta be in shape 24-7.
00:04:27.519 --> 00:04:31.839
You haven't got to look perfect or perfect in your mind 24-7.
00:04:32.240 --> 00:04:33.920
Just be comfortable with yourself.
00:04:34.079 --> 00:04:35.120
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:04:35.279 --> 00:04:36.879
Um, and stop giving a fuck.
00:04:37.040 --> 00:04:38.160
That's a powerful thing as well.
00:04:38.319 --> 00:04:40.319
Stop overanalysing, stop giving a fuck.
00:04:40.480 --> 00:04:45.920
You know, everyone, no one thinks about no one thinks about you as much as you think about yourself.
00:04:46.079 --> 00:04:47.600
That's what you need to remember.
00:04:49.439 --> 00:04:52.959
Guys, welcome to stripping off with Matt Haycox.
00:04:53.279 --> 00:04:54.879
And today we've got a guest.
00:04:55.040 --> 00:04:57.439
He's come straight from the sunbeds of Essex.
00:04:57.600 --> 00:05:02.800
Welcome to the show, Taui Legend, businessman, entrepreneur, and all around great guy, Mr.
00:05:02.879 --> 00:05:03.519
James Locke.
00:05:03.759 --> 00:05:04.319
What's happening?
00:05:04.399 --> 00:05:04.879
Thank you for having me.
00:05:04.959 --> 00:05:05.920
How are you doing, buddy?
00:05:06.079 --> 00:05:06.879
I'm good.
00:05:07.199 --> 00:05:07.759
I'm good.
00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:11.279
I want to delve deep and try and find the real James Locke.
00:05:11.360 --> 00:05:13.839
You know, who's uh who's who's the man behind the scenes?
00:05:14.079 --> 00:05:15.759
Many people, especially women have tried.
00:05:16.319 --> 00:05:20.240
Well, maybe maybe we can uh maybe we can help them get a few percent along the road.
00:05:20.480 --> 00:05:35.839
You told me that um your mum left you when you were when you were five years old, and I think you think there's probably some lingering after effects from that, and you know, that that you're a lot more fragile or vulnerable than people think, or that you would come across and and you probably date that back to when your mom first left.
00:05:35.920 --> 00:05:38.160
So let's let's go back to a little five-year-old James.
00:05:38.240 --> 00:05:42.879
He probably still had pecs and uh pecs and big thighs, but uh a little fat kid.
00:05:43.040 --> 00:05:43.600
Oh, really?
00:05:43.839 --> 00:05:46.319
Oh, we'll talk about that separately.
00:05:46.879 --> 00:05:52.160
We'll talk about that separately, but um, but yeah, I mean, uh you know, can you remember your mum leaving to this day?
00:05:52.399 --> 00:06:04.399
I just feel like uh look, it's a bit of a it's a weird one and a sensitive subject in the sense that people don't really think too much into I don't know, I do think into like their parents and stuff, but you do need it's fundamental that you do need two parents.
00:06:04.480 --> 00:06:05.680
You do need the two parents there.
00:06:05.839 --> 00:06:16.720
You know, I'm not saying that people that are not well-randed or well-grounded people and people that ain't gone on to do X, Y, and Z having, you know, either, you know, no parents or or a mum or a dad.
00:06:16.959 --> 00:06:20.480
But having two pet like two parents there is fundamental for me.
00:06:20.639 --> 00:06:23.839
I feel like you do need you benefit from both having a a mum and a dad.
00:06:24.800 --> 00:06:30.399
Are you saying needing both parents in the same house in a in a relationship, or you just need the support of them?
00:06:30.639 --> 00:06:37.920
I think if having them in that in the in the same house, in the same environment, you know, how it's you know, traditionally how it's meant to be.
00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:40.560
I think having them parents there is fundamental.
00:06:40.720 --> 00:06:41.759
It does make a big difference.
00:06:41.839 --> 00:06:50.639
If your mum and dad are split up, yeah, you come from a it could have broken home, but it sounds worse than it is, but it does have a knock-on effect to the person, you know.
00:06:50.800 --> 00:06:56.879
Whether you accept that or acknowledge that, however, you may deal with uh however you deal with that as a person, that is you.
00:06:57.040 --> 00:06:58.000
Everyone's an individual.
00:06:58.079 --> 00:07:12.000
So how you deal with that, I'm not trying to say you're you listen, you need to be a certain type of person, or that will sculpt you as a certain type of person having a mum or you know, having a mum and dad there, having being in the same environment or not being in the same environment or not having them at all.
00:07:12.240 --> 00:07:19.680
If that makes sense, but what would you say that it's more important to have your mum and dad together at the at the expense of them even getting on again?
00:07:19.759 --> 00:07:24.480
This is to do with circumstances and each story, each person as an individual.
00:07:24.639 --> 00:07:25.519
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:07:25.680 --> 00:07:34.480
Like this is becoming very particular because you used to work in strip clubs, but then at the same time, you say, Did you need to work in the strip clubs and then being there drinking, socializing?
00:07:34.639 --> 00:07:38.160
Just if you went there and just treat it as a job, obviously it's a very unsociable job.
00:07:38.319 --> 00:07:41.759
It's a sociable in the aspect for the punters, but it's unsociable for your family.
00:07:41.839 --> 00:07:42.480
Does that make sense?
00:07:42.720 --> 00:07:43.040
Absolutely.
00:07:43.199 --> 00:07:47.759
Yeah, so it's like, for instance, I'm always up London in the week networking.
00:07:47.839 --> 00:07:49.360
I'm having meetings, you know, listen on the day.
00:07:49.439 --> 00:07:51.360
After this, I've got another meeting with my business partner.
00:07:51.600 --> 00:07:54.399
So I'm having I'm I'm at meetings and I'll probably pop out, go for dinner.
00:07:54.480 --> 00:07:58.399
Then when my friend, like when my family want to see me over weekend, I'm shattered by the weekend.
00:07:58.480 --> 00:07:59.680
So I end up chilling.
00:07:59.759 --> 00:08:12.480
You know, well, most people work all week, nine to fives or whatever, then they that's when they party or that's when they they, you know, you know, that's when they indulge in whatever they, you know, hobbies, seeing friends and family, going out, whatever.
00:08:12.560 --> 00:08:12.959
That's what they do.
00:08:13.199 --> 00:08:14.480
I'm saying it's a very reverse.
00:08:14.560 --> 00:08:18.720
Everything, everything depends on circumstances and the person, if that makes sense.
00:08:18.879 --> 00:08:37.360
But I do strongly believe, look, I can't speak from a parent's perspective because I haven't got any children, but what I'm saying is from the from the perspective of being a child from you know a so-called broken home, I feel, even though listen, I've been brought up by my dad and I feel like I he done a very good job, um, still had contact with my mum.
00:08:37.440 --> 00:08:40.000
Um, I feel I'm very well-rounded as a person.
00:08:40.080 --> 00:08:46.080
There's definitely factors there where things would have been different had my mum and dad been together.
00:08:46.159 --> 00:08:47.200
You know, things would have been different.
00:08:47.279 --> 00:08:52.080
I'm not trying to say it's taken taking anything away from me as a person, you know, but I back myself 100%.
00:08:52.480 --> 00:09:00.799
But I'm saying that it takes this, there will be something lacking of being brought up or a certain outlook.
00:09:01.120 --> 00:09:05.840
And using you as a specific example, I mean, what do you think is lacking or would have been different?
00:09:06.000 --> 00:09:08.080
I'm brought up very tough, tough love.
00:09:08.240 --> 00:09:10.480
So, in a sense, I'm a very much like I'm very old.
00:09:10.720 --> 00:09:15.840
Look, how I'm brought up anyway, is uh a very old school East End values.
00:09:16.399 --> 00:09:18.639
So you were living with your dad, your mum left and you were just living with your dad?
00:09:18.799 --> 00:09:19.279
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:09:19.360 --> 00:09:24.320
So uh my brother and sister was with my mum and I stayed with my dad.
00:09:24.720 --> 00:09:29.759
Because we do know what I'm saying, we the the split when the split happened as a kid, I didn't want to leave my dad.
00:09:30.000 --> 00:09:32.720
All the kids went with a mum, that's natural for all the kids to go with a mum.
00:09:32.879 --> 00:09:35.200
I didn't want to leave my dad, so I stayed with him.
00:09:35.840 --> 00:09:37.600
But you can definitely see a difference.
00:09:37.759 --> 00:09:41.200
If you met me and my siblings, you can see a difference between me and my brother.
00:09:41.600 --> 00:09:43.440
There's a lot of similarities, we're very similar.
00:09:43.840 --> 00:09:46.960
Look in, how we talk, but then there's a lot of differences.
00:09:47.200 --> 00:09:52.320
There's a lot of differences, and you'd have to meet my brother for me to acknowledge that.
00:09:52.399 --> 00:10:02.240
And you can see what whereas once we brought up softer, and once we brought more, you know, more as a as a man, it's it's very tough life or more sensitive.
00:10:02.320 --> 00:10:03.039
You can tell the difference.
00:10:03.120 --> 00:10:11.840
My brothers are very a lot more sensitive than me, you know, absolutely and see sometimes people misperceive me thinking that as if I'm a little bit arrogant or I don't give a fuck.
00:10:12.639 --> 00:10:13.919
A lot's happened to me in my life.
00:10:14.399 --> 00:10:15.600
I like a lot's happen to a lot of people.
00:10:15.679 --> 00:10:18.639
I don't sit here, obviously cry about it, I don't talk about, I just get on with it.
00:10:18.879 --> 00:10:23.279
But again, loads of factors over the years sculpt someone as a person, you know.
00:10:23.519 --> 00:10:30.799
And I think people sometimes forget, you know, especially when you're in in this industry, like people will um, you know, judge.
00:10:30.960 --> 00:10:36.639
Listen, everyone thinks I'm I'm I was born with a silver, you know, I'm some rich kid, born with a silver spoon in my mouth from from Chigwell.
00:10:36.799 --> 00:10:38.480
I'm not I'm not from Essex.
00:10:38.639 --> 00:10:39.200
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:10:39.279 --> 00:10:44.799
So I'm not and I'm definitely not from uh Chigwell or born like if I foul, it's it's all on me.
00:10:44.960 --> 00:10:45.759
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:10:45.919 --> 00:10:50.480
So people have a misperception and then see what we find in everyday life.
00:10:50.639 --> 00:10:53.360
People, you know, you don't know what people are going through.
00:10:53.759 --> 00:10:54.399
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:10:54.480 --> 00:10:57.440
You don't know what people are going through on a daily basis, you don't know what their background, what their circumstances are.
00:10:57.679 --> 00:10:58.399
It is what it is.
00:10:58.639 --> 00:11:02.080
I'm not just sitting there trying to cry about it, it is what it is, it's life, get on with it.
00:11:02.320 --> 00:11:07.919
But I'm just saying that as a whole, there's a lot of factors that sculpt a person in general.
00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:13.840
Whether you acknowledge it or accept it or you don't, there's a lot of things, even me, as much as I might think I'm well-grounded, I'm happy who I am.
00:11:13.919 --> 00:11:18.799
Yeah, I'm very, I'm very happy, I'm very, I'm a very contempt place in my life, yeah.
00:11:19.200 --> 00:11:22.559
There's still things that could have been better.
00:11:22.879 --> 00:11:27.200
You can't say there's always things that could have been done better or could have been a better situation.
00:11:27.519 --> 00:11:28.320
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:11:28.559 --> 00:11:31.200
And you say that you're a well well-rounded person.
00:11:31.440 --> 00:11:35.679
Were there times that you look back at where you were less well-rounded than you are now?
00:11:35.759 --> 00:11:40.080
Um, you know, because of because of that background and you know, things that you've had to work on.
00:11:40.240 --> 00:11:47.679
I think sometimes, especially in relationships, um, much of you might you're sitting here now, you're saying at the beginning, oh, like he's the ladies' man.
00:11:47.759 --> 00:11:49.120
Yes, I can go out, I can socialize.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:51.919
Um, listen, not just a ladies' man, I'm a very sociable person.
00:11:52.080 --> 00:11:54.960
I got a lot of friends, not a lot of friends, I've got a lot of acquaintances.
00:11:55.200 --> 00:11:59.120
I'm a sociable person, you know, whether you're a male, female, whatever.
00:11:59.360 --> 00:12:07.679
But when it comes to actually being in relationships with people, especially with a girl, sometimes being uh sometimes when you need that sensitive side, I don't think I'm that as sensitive.
00:12:07.759 --> 00:12:10.720
Sometimes, see, sometimes I'm in I'm awkward in situations.
00:12:10.879 --> 00:12:11.600
I'm awkward.
00:12:11.759 --> 00:12:18.399
And it's not through being cold, it's just through when I've brought up very tough love and just with a one-man dynamic.
00:12:18.799 --> 00:12:19.360
Do you know what I mean?
00:12:19.440 --> 00:12:21.679
Even though my dad is affectionate, listen, I mean my dad have a cuddle.
00:12:21.840 --> 00:12:24.000
He listened it as affectionate, it's a weird one.
00:12:24.159 --> 00:12:27.120
Again, it's it's like people, I feel like people can relate to it.
00:12:27.279 --> 00:12:28.879
It's a weird one, but you're you're listening.
00:12:28.960 --> 00:12:29.759
I think everyone will get it.
00:12:29.840 --> 00:12:31.600
Us is and I think you understand what I'm saying.
00:12:31.679 --> 00:12:39.039
Where if you you're a lot more affectionate, women are, listen, they are the the fairer sex, they are a lot more emotional, and that's not a bad thing.
00:12:39.120 --> 00:12:41.759
You know, I think that if anything, that makes them stronger than us.
00:12:42.000 --> 00:12:48.720
So but you say that um that in relationships you maybe haven't been as sensitive as as you could have been or you would have liked to have been.
00:12:48.879 --> 00:12:54.639
Yeah, but I think that's been a that's been a um that's been a very um what's the word?
00:12:54.960 --> 00:12:57.440
That's been a very holding you back in relationships.
00:12:57.759 --> 00:13:05.679
But one, but then you also said to me last night, you said that probably one of your downfalls is that you invest in girls first.
00:13:05.919 --> 00:13:06.240
Yeah.
00:13:06.480 --> 00:13:09.200
Um, I mean, which I mean to me though, this for a lot of men though.
00:13:10.000 --> 00:13:16.639
They sound a bit contradictory, those two things, because I guess you, you know, you might not be sensitive, but you are putting that girl first.
00:13:16.879 --> 00:13:24.960
I overinvest so basically, because I I'm aware that what gives me, what makes me very powerful as a as a person is that I'm very self-aware.
00:13:25.120 --> 00:13:28.559
Self-awareness is it's like acknowledgement, yeah, it's powerful.
00:13:28.879 --> 00:13:37.600
I know this is the thing as well, because as much as it's powerful, it also is it's like it doesn't mean I don't make the same mistakes.
00:13:37.679 --> 00:13:39.519
Like myself, like do you know what I mean?
00:13:39.600 --> 00:13:43.360
Like even though um I'm self-aware, like I know my downfalls.
00:13:43.600 --> 00:13:44.399
What are they?
00:13:44.720 --> 00:13:49.759
I think my downfalls are that sometimes look, like a lot of people, I think I'm people please.
00:13:50.000 --> 00:13:52.879
Like I said to you, why for their benefit or for yours?
00:13:53.120 --> 00:13:53.840
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:13:53.919 --> 00:14:02.720
It's like it comes from a place of um, it comes from a good place because like I genuinely listen, everyone's gonna sit and say they're a good person, but I've got a big heart with my heart on my sleeve.
00:14:02.799 --> 00:14:14.080
That's why you know I look, I don't know, I over this is what I'm trying to say, I overinvest, I overinvest in things and do become a bit of a yes man, a bit of a people pleaser, which is bad for you.
00:14:14.159 --> 00:14:17.759
You can't, you can never win being a yes man or being a people pleaser.
00:14:17.919 --> 00:14:18.720
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:14:18.799 --> 00:14:22.080
And then sometimes because of that, you get taken advantage of.
00:14:22.320 --> 00:14:29.519
So as much as I might be not as uh affectionate, it doesn't mean I don't over then you overinvest in other ways.
00:14:29.679 --> 00:14:37.440
I think for me, the biggest downfall of being a people pleaser, because I don't know if I'd necessarily exactly use those words, but I I can completely relate to what you're talking about.
00:14:37.679 --> 00:14:43.360
I think my biggest regret in doing, let's say, too much for too many people is you have no fucking time for yourself.
00:14:43.759 --> 00:14:52.799
And one of the best things of being able to say no, or of not being able to say learning to say no, because it I think it is a it's maybe not a skill, but it's certainly a muscle, you know, like look learning to say no.
00:14:52.960 --> 00:14:53.759
It's a part of a muscle.
00:14:53.919 --> 00:15:02.159
Is that you get you know you get that time back either for yourself or for the ones you want to concentrate on because I spend so much time doing things for other people that I can't remember, I'm just fucked.
00:15:02.320 --> 00:15:07.679
And you know, barely got time for the missus, certainly no time for myself, and um, you know, and then it's not healthy.
00:15:07.759 --> 00:15:08.720
See that it's not healthy.
00:15:08.879 --> 00:15:14.720
See, like now I'm at a point where, you know, saying no, I'm at a point where what's held me back?
00:15:14.879 --> 00:15:20.159
Well, obviously, what we're talking about over the years, what's held me back is over investing, being a bit of a yes man.
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:25.440
I think a lot of people, being a people pleaser, I think a lot of people, the last couple of years have been a massive transition for me.
00:15:25.600 --> 00:15:32.879
So no, if I know we can go out, like you said, I'd go out yesterday and socialise, and I'm still that same person, but I just don't say yes to everything.
00:15:33.440 --> 00:15:43.200
Saying no is a power itself because when you when it comes to a point where you want something, these people that you're saying yes to, let them let's see if they come and help you.
00:15:43.440 --> 00:15:44.159
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:15:44.240 --> 00:15:48.000
And lately, the last few years have been a massive transition for me because I've actually started saying no.
00:15:48.240 --> 00:15:55.279
Them people, I've actually lost a lot of the people around me, but they're they're they're the fake people, they're the people you don't want around you.
00:15:55.600 --> 00:15:57.120
Um, I I'm a lot happier.
00:15:57.200 --> 00:16:01.360
You know, see these things, you see these memes on on you know Instagram or wherever on online.
00:16:01.759 --> 00:16:03.759
Being on my own, going for drink, eating on my own.
00:16:03.840 --> 00:16:05.360
I I actually love being on my own.
00:16:05.519 --> 00:16:07.120
I train on my own, I eat on my own.
00:16:07.200 --> 00:16:11.360
You know, I'm I'm I'm on my own most days, most of the time.
00:16:11.519 --> 00:16:12.559
And that's that's okay.
00:16:12.639 --> 00:16:14.159
I go to my meetings, do my thing.
00:16:14.399 --> 00:16:16.960
When I'm meeting, when I'm doing things that it's it's business.
00:16:17.039 --> 00:16:23.279
If things if things ain't serving me, I am selfish, but selfish in a good way because that's a sign of self-respect.
00:16:23.360 --> 00:16:26.320
I'm here now, this is what like not fair, we're we're we're friends, but this is work.
00:16:26.399 --> 00:16:27.679
We're doing something productive.
00:16:28.159 --> 00:16:29.440
Yeah, we're talking about productive things.
00:16:29.519 --> 00:16:32.559
I think us men talking about things like this is is a is a productive thing.
00:16:32.720 --> 00:16:40.879
Or I could be uh on the piss talking shit with a load of fucking people who just want me there for a good time, paying the bill, yeah, because of Nick of you Richards.
00:16:41.279 --> 00:16:41.840
Do you know what I mean?
00:16:41.919 --> 00:16:42.879
It's uh do you know what I'm saying?
00:16:42.960 --> 00:16:43.919
It's a naked thing.
00:16:44.159 --> 00:16:46.080
Next to like, where's that gonna get me?
00:16:46.240 --> 00:16:48.639
But when you start saying no to them, people they say, Oh, he's changed.
00:16:48.720 --> 00:16:49.679
Who's he think he is?
00:16:49.840 --> 00:16:50.799
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:16:51.039 --> 00:16:54.159
It's it's you can't pleasing people is not the answer.
00:16:54.399 --> 00:17:00.559
Have you seen you must have seen a big difference in that from the time that you weren't on the tele to the time you were in the television?
00:17:00.960 --> 00:17:04.640
I mean, I mean, pre-tv, were you, you know, were you still that people pleaser?
00:17:04.960 --> 00:17:06.960
Yeah, pre-TV, I think every that's what I'm trying to say.
00:17:07.119 --> 00:17:08.880
I think everyone is a victim of it.
00:17:09.359 --> 00:17:14.640
Even your pals are calling you up, you don't even really want to go out, but you got you're out, you're on the piss, you don't want to do it.
00:17:14.720 --> 00:17:15.279
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:17:15.440 --> 00:17:16.400
That's people pleasing.
00:17:16.720 --> 00:17:19.200
It at some in at some level.
00:17:19.440 --> 00:17:24.720
Obviously, it's emphasized, and it's you know, times 10 since I've been on the TV because everyone wants to come out and party with me.
00:17:25.039 --> 00:17:25.599
You know what I'm saying?
00:17:25.680 --> 00:17:27.759
And that's caused another problem in relationships.
00:17:28.079 --> 00:17:34.240
You know, you're on this show, or you know, you're in reality TV, and people want to be wrapped around you.
00:17:34.400 --> 00:17:38.640
Otherwise, most of the people I meet in this day and age, I would never meet if I hadn't been on TV.
00:17:38.960 --> 00:17:39.599
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:17:39.680 --> 00:17:48.640
And they're not the people I grew up with, you know, and not people I was socialized with or would have, you know, would have been in any environment where I would have met them, you know.
00:17:49.039 --> 00:17:51.599
Again, this is pros and cons of the industry.
00:17:51.759 --> 00:17:56.319
Yes, it's there's a load, obviously there's more pros and cons, otherwise I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't be doing it.
00:17:56.400 --> 00:17:59.279
It's opened so many doors, but there is a dark side to it.
00:17:59.440 --> 00:18:00.160
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:18:00.240 --> 00:18:14.559
As much as you might go to an event and meet 10 potential, you know, potential clients in a sense that, you know, I might meet a couple of agents, I might meet people that, you know, producers for shows or people that, you know, have you know own brands, want to do endorsed, want to work with me.
00:18:14.720 --> 00:18:17.599
There's also negative where there's people there that's just want to party.
00:18:17.680 --> 00:18:25.359
And it's not, listen, it's not on them, it's down to you as an individual about being unless you say about being self-aware, but you know, as long as you're aware or self-aware.
00:18:25.680 --> 00:18:31.039
I mean, I guess, yes, it's more amplified in the media situation, but it's the same in everyday life, isn't it?
00:18:31.119 --> 00:18:42.559
You walk into the same, there's good people, there's good people, there's bad people, and I guess you you get better at reading people over time, and it's probably not too hard for you now to see a couple of guys in a room and think, you know what, they're not for me.
00:18:42.720 --> 00:18:50.480
But they're not necessarily always bad, is that I'm trying to say, like, see this, this is giving a vague explanation for something that's a lot more in depth.
00:18:50.640 --> 00:18:56.799
Now, when you're at people that just because they want to party with you doesn't necessarily mean that then they're they're a negative or they're a bad person.
00:18:57.039 --> 00:18:58.400
But maybe bad for you.
00:18:58.640 --> 00:19:02.720
Bad for me in that situation, but that's down to you as a person saying, no, no, not for me, you know.
00:19:02.880 --> 00:19:04.960
I'm not, yeah, I'm not drinking tonight.
00:19:05.359 --> 00:19:07.039
I'm uh I'm having an early one.
00:19:07.119 --> 00:19:10.960
And then having a willpower to tell them that, be firm with it and then leave.
00:19:11.119 --> 00:19:17.279
But what I'm saying is that just because they want to party doesn't make them bad people, you know, they're not seeing a negative, they're not doing something malicious.
00:19:17.440 --> 00:19:18.000
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:19:18.079 --> 00:19:25.680
They're just like thinking, look, we're gonna, if anything, it is coming from a maybe a place of of endearment, you know.
00:19:25.759 --> 00:19:29.440
It's again, you've got to take control of your own life.

Do you know what I'm saying?
00:19:32.160 --> 00:19:39.680
It's down to you to look at a situation, uh, analyze it, and then make your own your own decisions for yourself.
00:19:39.759 --> 00:19:41.920
Because I said to you, no one is here.
00:19:42.240 --> 00:19:46.720
Um, no one's here to to to muffia or baby you.
00:19:46.880 --> 00:19:49.119
You've got to look after yourself.
00:19:51.039 --> 00:19:53.039

Measurable, achievable, relevant, and time.
00:20:22.480 --> 00:20:27.200

00:20:46.000 --> 00:20:47.440
Like, perfect.
00:20:47.680 --> 00:20:48.400
Great choice.
00:20:48.559 --> 00:20:50.319
Let's grow this together.
00:20:51.680 --> 00:20:57.519
So when you say um that you you invest in girls first, what what do you mean by that?
00:20:57.759 --> 00:20:58.880
Not investing in girls first.
00:20:58.960 --> 00:20:59.680
So what happens with me?
00:21:00.319 --> 00:21:00.960
When are you having a relationship?
00:21:01.119 --> 00:21:02.400
So anyone in general.
00:21:02.480 --> 00:21:03.039
So what happens?
00:21:03.119 --> 00:21:05.920
I have a lot of acquaintances, girls, uh, boys or girls.
00:21:06.160 --> 00:21:08.640
You know, I'm a social, I'm a very social person.
00:21:08.880 --> 00:21:17.119
What happens is when someone I when I do invest in someone, so with me, I'm very like might come across as a bit standoffish or cold.
00:21:17.200 --> 00:21:17.839
It's not cold.
00:21:18.000 --> 00:21:22.400
I am standoffish because I, you know, I'm standoffish right.
00:21:22.559 --> 00:21:24.880
This this sounds a bit, it doesn't, it contradicts itself.
00:21:25.039 --> 00:21:27.279
As much as I can be sociable, I don't invest.
00:21:27.359 --> 00:21:32.559
I don't like, I might be out, we might bunk to each other, we might have go out and have a have a great night, or we'll be in the gym.
00:21:32.640 --> 00:21:33.279
You know what I'm saying?
00:21:33.359 --> 00:21:36.000
We we we'll be chatting or whatever, get on like ass on fire.
00:21:36.079 --> 00:21:36.960
That doesn't mean I'm gonna invest.
00:21:37.039 --> 00:21:38.720
I'm not then ringing you going, oh, what are you doing?
00:21:38.799 --> 00:21:39.599
Do you want to come and chill?
00:21:39.839 --> 00:21:48.480
When you're you go past the point where it's not just you're not socializing, you're not an acquaintance, you're investing in a person where you know you're you're seeing someone on a regular basis.
00:21:48.559 --> 00:22:15.599
Um, whether it's a man or a woman, you're do you then when you're giving someone, you're making time for someone rather than just you know sparing a moment sort of thing, or you're bumping into someone when you're actually making time for someone that that you're invested in someone, you know, when you're changing your plans, whether I'm going to speak to a lady and going, look, what you're doing the weekend, I'm putting her, I'm making her a priority, or speaking to my pals, I'm like, look, so what you're doing tonight, you're you're and then oh, you're not free to this time, you're changing your schedule.
00:22:17.039 --> 00:22:17.599
Does that make sense?
00:22:17.839 --> 00:22:18.640
Absolutely, yeah.
00:22:18.799 --> 00:22:22.559
So when you invest in someone like that, that's that's an investment.
00:22:22.720 --> 00:22:23.519
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:22:23.599 --> 00:22:25.200
You're you're making, you're freeing up time.
00:22:25.440 --> 00:22:26.240
Your time's precious.
00:22:26.400 --> 00:22:28.720
Freeing up time for someone is an investment.
00:22:28.880 --> 00:22:35.119
Then what is one thing being with one of your pals, that's that's a mine, obviously, like just you know, changing arrangements for for them.
00:22:35.279 --> 00:22:45.680
Um it's like tonight, I'm Raj singing at Sheesh, so I don't need to be going out tonight, but I'm going there, so you're I'm changing my plans, you know, to go and support someone at a restaurant.
00:22:45.839 --> 00:22:55.119
Yes, I'll be there having a great time, but I'm changing, I'm already my plans, which is not too listen, it's you're still doing it to some degree, but it's not, you know, it's not life-changing.
00:22:55.200 --> 00:23:00.880
Whereas with a woman, when I'm invested, I will literally invest everything, all my time, into that person.
00:23:01.200 --> 00:23:01.839
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:23:01.920 --> 00:23:02.400
Yeah, no, absolutely.
00:23:02.559 --> 00:23:08.319
And I forget, I think a lot of men are like this where you're you won't um, you know, they come first.
00:23:08.640 --> 00:23:16.559
In regards to business, not funny, but if if I was with someone now and they was going through, they were struggling, I would literally not have turned up today, which is which is a great thing.
00:23:16.640 --> 00:23:19.119
People think, oh listen, that's that's a gentleman, it's a nice guy.
00:23:19.279 --> 00:23:20.640
But do you know something?
00:23:21.119 --> 00:23:24.720
It's that itself, this is work, this is business.
00:23:24.880 --> 00:23:25.519
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:23:25.680 --> 00:23:31.599
Like, not going to the meeting after because I've got to go back and someone's a bit upset, that has a knock-on effect.
00:23:31.759 --> 00:23:32.640
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:23:32.799 --> 00:23:39.039
But I think as much as it's important to be able to say no, you've also got to do what makes you happy and feels right.
00:23:39.119 --> 00:23:42.880
And uh, and and you know, sometimes it's very easy to say, well, would they do the same for me?
00:23:43.039 --> 00:23:48.799
And the reality is if you're a good person, if you're a generous person, probably eight times out of ten, that person wouldn't do the same for you.
00:23:49.039 --> 00:23:51.519
But does that mean you want to change who you are?
00:23:51.599 --> 00:23:53.359
You know, like no, you don't change who you are.
00:23:53.599 --> 00:23:55.039
I don't think ever change who you are.
00:23:55.200 --> 00:23:55.599
Exactly.
00:23:55.759 --> 00:23:57.920
And and and just go just going back to your parents for a minute.
00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:03.359
So when your mom left uh at five, did you maintain a relationship with her growing up or did she disappear for a while?
00:24:03.839 --> 00:24:06.559
No, no, I've I maintained like we've all we've all maintained a relationship.
00:24:06.720 --> 00:24:07.839
Oh, it's just that you weren't living together.
00:24:07.920 --> 00:24:09.440
No, it just weren't living together.
00:24:09.599 --> 00:24:12.799
Again, you'd have to know me and my family uh more in depth.
00:24:13.039 --> 00:24:20.640
No, you know obviously you know me as a person, but you could see the difference between me and my brother, whereas one's brought up in one house and the other's brought up in the other.
00:24:20.799 --> 00:24:24.079
You you can see a massive, there's a very massive difference.
00:24:24.160 --> 00:24:33.680
And I'm not saying that people can't be different being brought up in the same house, but there's a there's a noticeable uh difference between me and my brother, you know.
00:24:33.920 --> 00:24:35.279
Both done well.
00:24:35.359 --> 00:24:43.119
We're both in decent a lot of arts of it, we're both well-randed individuals, but you just can see in traits of personality a lot of difference.
00:24:43.359 --> 00:24:47.440
Well, let's let's talk a bit about business uh business, business and uh and doing well.
00:24:47.599 --> 00:24:50.640
As I know you, you know, you're a you're a hungry guy, you're a ducker and a diver.
00:24:50.880 --> 00:24:53.119
You've you've you've always got your fingers in different pies.
00:24:53.359 --> 00:24:57.200
I mean, I would imagine that dates back to back to your early childhood.
00:24:57.279 --> 00:25:00.079
I mean, I imagine your your dad's an influence in this respect as well.
00:25:00.240 --> 00:25:03.839
I mean, did you always want to get out there grafting and making money?
00:25:04.079 --> 00:25:07.039
I think look, people to say money doesn't make you happy, that's all bullshit.
00:25:07.200 --> 00:25:12.240
Money, I'm not saying money itself makes you happy, but it enables you to live a life that makes you happy.
00:25:12.319 --> 00:25:13.279
It gives you freedom.
00:25:13.440 --> 00:25:16.160
So to say that money doesn't make you happy is is bollocks.
00:25:16.480 --> 00:25:23.279
And when you come from nothing, uh, listen, like yourself, when you come from nothing and you have money, you can't go back.
00:25:23.440 --> 00:25:31.200
It's like when you've experienced something, and in the industry I'm in, or listen, even in real life, I think a lot of people, you're up, you're down.
00:25:31.279 --> 00:25:32.000
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:25:32.079 --> 00:25:40.880
If you're not, if you are like a you've got that entrepreneur mindset, you know, where you want better, you know, and you take that gap, you take it at risk, you're not doing your nine to five.
00:25:40.960 --> 00:25:42.720
Now, fair play to people to do nine to fives.
00:25:42.799 --> 00:25:45.200
My mum does a nine to five, my mum always done a nine to five.
00:25:45.279 --> 00:25:46.480
My dad always worked for himself.
00:25:46.559 --> 00:25:49.119
Now, you've got to remember, every day when you work for yourself, you wake up with nothing.
00:25:49.200 --> 00:25:50.000
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:25:50.079 --> 00:25:53.680
Every day you wake up, you it's down to you to go out and get it.
00:25:53.920 --> 00:25:55.039
We makes you hungry.
00:25:55.279 --> 00:25:57.839
That mindset, I like that mindset because it makes you hungry in life.
00:25:57.920 --> 00:25:59.200
And I'm still hungry now.
00:25:59.279 --> 00:26:02.799
I'm still, you know, I've had various businesses, I've tried various things.
00:26:02.960 --> 00:26:08.480
The people gotta understand is that I've had loads of things that I've I've done well from, but a lot of things that I've failed from.
00:26:08.559 --> 00:26:11.440
Probably more that I've failed from than I've done well from well from.
00:26:11.599 --> 00:26:14.079
But that's part of the journey.
00:26:14.240 --> 00:26:19.759
That's part that the the whole journey, the struggle, you know, that is that's what builds character.
00:26:20.079 --> 00:26:21.440
How do you feel about those failures?
00:26:21.680 --> 00:26:23.200
You know, what when they happened at the time?
00:26:23.279 --> 00:26:28.000
And yeah, have you had some failures which have been which have been public as well since you've been in the public house?
00:26:28.240 --> 00:26:30.079
Of course, there's been loads of failures since I've been public.
00:26:30.160 --> 00:26:31.200
But this is the thing.
00:26:31.279 --> 00:26:35.920
It's like obviously in the tabloids, I'm always the front guy, I'm the full guy.
00:26:36.240 --> 00:26:42.559
So these these businesses, but sometimes when they fail, they actually haven't failed because they're bad businesses.
00:26:42.720 --> 00:26:46.640
It's been a breakdown of there's other things, it's a lot deeper issue.
00:26:46.880 --> 00:26:52.400
Breakdown with communication with the partners, um, lack of effort from certain people.
00:26:52.640 --> 00:27:00.240
Um, some listen, I'm not trying to say I'm, you know, I'm adding sugar and everything I touch turns to gold, because he obviously doesn't.
00:27:00.319 --> 00:27:03.759
But and there's been some failures down to me, down to lack of effort from me.
00:27:03.920 --> 00:27:18.480
But I can hand on heart say that most of the time the businesses that I've had have been good businesses, even like dating back to when I've had bars, the restaurants, they've all been good businesses, but certain people haven't stepped up and they've caused me problems.
00:27:18.559 --> 00:27:19.519
Like it's not me.
00:27:19.599 --> 00:27:21.680
Like I they haven't done what they are meant to do.
00:27:21.759 --> 00:27:27.759
You've got to remember, obviously, I'm when people get into business with me, whether it be a restaurant, bar, endorsing a brand, I'm the face.
00:27:27.920 --> 00:27:31.759
My my job is to for for exposure, marketing, getting it out there.
00:27:32.079 --> 00:27:35.279
Is that typically is that typically your only only role at the time?
00:27:35.359 --> 00:27:37.839
I mean, I mean, do you do you ever put capital into these businesses?
00:27:37.920 --> 00:27:41.920
Do you ever get involved in the operations, or do you just you're the marketing, you're the brand, you're the face?
00:27:42.079 --> 00:27:42.319
Right.
00:27:42.480 --> 00:27:47.519
So, see, in terms of capital, in the past I have, but that's not smart business.
00:27:47.759 --> 00:27:49.359
I'm I'm a commodity myself.
00:27:49.440 --> 00:27:53.359
You know, what I bring to the table is otherwise someone won't invest in me.
00:27:53.440 --> 00:27:56.880
There's no point me going to business with someone if I'm gonna put the money in, I don't need that person.
00:27:57.039 --> 00:27:57.680
Does that make sense?
00:27:57.839 --> 00:28:03.839
If me and you're gonna do a business, if you want to get involved with me and you wanna you want to get it out there, why am I going 50-50 with you?
00:28:03.920 --> 00:28:04.799
What are you bringing to the table?
00:28:04.960 --> 00:28:05.839
Should I do what I'm saying?
00:28:05.920 --> 00:28:08.160
Is I don't need you, I might as well just pay the whole thing myself.
00:28:09.119 --> 00:28:10.160
No, no, no, no, what you're saying.
00:28:10.240 --> 00:28:17.200
So, okay, so so fleshing on from that then as as someone who's had multiple partnerships and multiple partners which break down as well.
00:28:17.519 --> 00:28:24.400
What if you're looking to partner up with someone now, if you're looking to, you know, to go into business, what do you think are the traits of a good business partner?
00:28:24.640 --> 00:28:25.119
Traits.
00:28:25.200 --> 00:28:27.200
Um, right, you need someone in the trenches.
00:28:27.359 --> 00:28:28.960
So, yes, I listen, I'm very hands-on.
00:28:29.279 --> 00:28:30.480
Someone will put the graft in when it gets.
00:28:30.640 --> 00:28:31.759
Yes, but I'm very hands-on anyway.
00:28:31.839 --> 00:28:34.559
As you know, like I, if it's my business, it's my name.
00:28:34.720 --> 00:28:46.400
Um, from look, from the past experiences, what when I've when I've not been hands-on or not, when I've just tried to sit back thinking I'm just gonna be the face, if you like, um, that's caused me problems.
00:28:46.480 --> 00:28:49.920
And then when it all goes peak tong, all got all fucks up, it's all on me.
00:28:50.079 --> 00:28:56.640
That other person, no one knows who fucking who I had the kitchen with, or no one knows who I had this bar with or the brand or whatever else, no one knows that.
00:28:56.799 --> 00:28:57.599
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:28:57.759 --> 00:29:01.839
It's always oh Lockie's, Lockie's, Lockie's kitchen, Lockie's bar.
00:29:01.920 --> 00:29:02.480
It's all on me.
00:29:02.559 --> 00:29:08.079
So it makes it look like I've had loads of foul businesses when the people that I've actually invested in, they haven't pulled their finger out.
00:29:08.160 --> 00:29:14.319
And listen, I can hand again, I can handle heart and say that, not put all the blame, but they haven't done what they're the what they're meant to do.
00:29:14.480 --> 00:29:15.680
I'm not the details person.
00:29:15.839 --> 00:29:19.680
You see, a lot of time with these influencers, people say, Oh, it's this business foul.
00:29:19.839 --> 00:29:22.000
Or used to be Taiwan was notorious for it.
00:29:22.079 --> 00:29:24.960
All the girls setting up shops or bars and they was failing.
00:29:25.039 --> 00:29:27.440
No, we was always the face, we're busy filming.
00:29:27.519 --> 00:29:31.920
Like people think I'll just sit here and someone's following me around the camera, and they think I don't do fuck all day.
00:29:32.079 --> 00:29:33.440
That's what that's what makes me die.
00:29:33.680 --> 00:29:35.039
People think I don't do anything all day.
00:29:35.119 --> 00:29:39.119
They ring me out, like what they think I'm not doing anything, like I'm literally just sitting at home or I'll go to the gym.
00:29:39.200 --> 00:29:39.920
I'm busy.
00:29:40.000 --> 00:29:42.240
We we're still we're still out, you're active.
00:29:42.319 --> 00:29:43.039
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:29:43.119 --> 00:29:46.079
Running errands, doing whatever you're doing, your day to day business, working.
00:29:46.160 --> 00:29:52.319
This today, like people got people ringing me, bugging me now, like as if I'm not doing anything.
00:29:52.559 --> 00:29:53.359
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:29:53.440 --> 00:29:59.839
So when I'm investing in someone, yes, I've got time to sit there, to market, um, whether it be a brand, you know, whatever to whatever.
00:30:00.160 --> 00:34:57.360
type of business but they've got it's all the all the detail stuff like the the stuff that's in the when I say in the trenches the reason why I would invest in someone is that they are a business person in you know in that field so whether it be a bar or wrestler I never had a kitchen for instance just to talk about like his kitchen I never had a kitchen I haven't got a background working in a restaurant the person I got involved with they invested the money and they had a background there's an Italian guy he had a background in kitchen you know in in in restaurants then when it comes to it he was never there he'd never been to the restaurant been to the restaurant twice comes there on opening night he was never there how can I how how am I supposed to run a business that I've never even a completely different industry that I don't know about and I've never worked in do you know what I'm saying is I have no background in it at all I had an idea I don't I was there all the time people coming down want to see me locky locky's kitchen I'm there all the time meeting people like you know being who I am they want to meet me they see me on the telly they want to come and meet me do you know what I'm saying people coming down to see me I'm not there cooking do you know I mean I'm not there cooking I'm not there serving people you know I'm just there you know being the host if you like everything else was meant to be down to someone else that was left to me because I said how can I how can you leave something you know I want to come and run your listen you would never employ me to come run your business when I've got no background in it you you you're setting yourself up to to fail does that make sense but then when it all goes to when it all goes to shit who does people who do people look at they look at me I'll lock it out oh red fucking his kitchen flop no it didn't flop the kitchen was a great idea it's still a great idea now I'd love to do the kitchen again with someone else who's a proper businessman with who's proper you know who knows about that business who's got the time to invest in that business does that make sense absolutely not wasting my time see like now I'm a lot more because like we're going back to I'm a lot more selective with my time I ain't got time to waste so when people are not putting their finger out fuck them let's talk about exercise which is obviously massive massive part of your life and also one of your businesses as well uh you said that when you were a kid you were a little fatty uh when did um when when when did that change when did you get into exercise uh health fitness so I've always always liked sports um you're either one of them kids or you're not I've always liked sports I played every sport when I was at school uh as I got a bit older I moved more into the gym uh but I like you know I like mixing it up you know I don't do weights every day I used to at one point I got I got mad on the weights and um you know you get you do get a bit obsessed with it a bit carried away but um I like to mix it up like I'm playing tennis down playing squash do you know what I'm saying I like to mix things or I'll go and swimming I do a bit of weights I do a bit of running I mix it up you know either jujitsu a bit of boxing I like to keep active because keeping active fundamentally it's good for your mind it's good for your body uh it keeps you healthy yes and obviously you know if you train the right way especially if what I do it's uh very like aesthetic and how's your eating because I mean obviously I'm very disciplined I'm very disciplined obviously last night went out we had a bit of food I'll still go out I have a cheap meal I'll go out and I eat what if I'm out I'm in company or I'll have a few drinks or I'll go and eat what I want but you know 90% of the time I'm very disciplined you know I'm very I've I'm very disciplined with my diet and this is the problem I've got people messaging me day in day out asking me about is you know about their diet about their workouts there's no there's no there's no quick fix you know there's no quick fix even people talk about steroids see steroids you don't just do a steroid and you all sudden you get muscly you've still got to train there's loads of guys down the gym big fat guys they do steroids they do loads of steroids they stay fat if people listen to people oh he's on the roids or she's she's you know doing some crazy diet it still takes discipline you know it takes discipline to stay away from the you know to eat regimented meals you know keep her like a low a well balanced diet you know which isn't which is like you know it's not really a low carb high protein diet you find do you know what I'm saying that's that's that's a well balanced diet a lot of people now you know you go out they're sitting there eating pizza you know burgers pasta they're wondering whether or not losing weight eating bread you can't eat you can't be eating bread you know bread is the worst thing in the world to eat if you're if you're looking to lose weight you're not sitting there whether you're sitting there's little thin bread going to a Turkish going to an it wherever you're going bread is that is I do find when when I'm when I'm trying to go and because I don't really diet to just try and eat better because you know like with my lifestyle similar to yours going out a lot entertaining seeing clients you know you can't say no to uh to going out to restaurants it'd be eat very easy to sit at sit at home with me right I mean I I wasn't as well behaved as you last night but yeah you know I find if I cut bread out if I cut bread out if I cut puddings out I mean that's that's that's half the fucking battle you've probably saved me six seven eight hundred calories a day just that if you cut out bread it's a game changer I tell people this all day there's other things we go when you start sitting there talking about diets and stuff I carb cycle I keep my carbs low people need to realise that I still eat carbs I don't do like what this Eddie fella does and just completely not eat carbs.
00:34:57.599 --> 00:35:06.639
I eat carbs you need to eat carbs because basically if you cut anything out completely when you start eating that again it will have a negative effect on your body.
00:35:06.719 --> 00:35:20.239
These people that do these crash diets like you got not funny you go and do these diets when you're just having a couple of juices or you know you still need to you still need to be balanced in what you're eating it's like being balanced in life everything's about balance balance is the key with with with everything.
00:35:20.480 --> 00:35:22.000
So how did the fitness app come about?
00:35:22.320 --> 00:35:45.199
The fitness app come about because again a lot of people are asking me about training and I see a lot of these apps out there a lot of these a lot of these people do these apps and they're just they're just money spinners you know um and these guys a lot of a lot of these you know these these PTs walter mention no names a lot of them are just genetically gifted or they are just taking X, Y, and Z and they are having a little cheat.
00:35:45.360 --> 00:35:54.559
Again, they still have to work hard to get into the position where they are that's what I'm saying there's no quick fix whether you're doing steroids or any sort of diet there's no quick fix.
00:35:54.639 --> 00:36:27.760
It takes discipline so you can't take that away from anyone don't you wrong but some people are more genetically gifted than others you know some people you know you see these people that go out eat whatever they want and they literally just don't put on any weight and eat other people on the other end of the spectrum but it still takes discipline and for me there's so much bollocks out there and I had so many people asking me you know so many people I've been on TV a long time I've got so many people that look up to me and ask me you know value my opinion that's half the reason why I've done the app and the app's done done really well like it's from the app straight away the the amount of downloads has been crazy.
00:36:27.840 --> 00:38:44.000
You know I've kept it um I've done I've started with a free um listen the app's free to download there's a free trial and even after the trial it's only$749 which is very cheap for an app a lot of people are charging you know double three times that and with that you're getting you know calorie trackers you're getting a breakdown you're getting nutrition plans you're getting uh workout plans you've got an online community you've got everything there you've got a lot of content and a lot within that app you know for for for a very cheap price and the reason for that of course we've still got to run it it can't be run for free because it takes time so I can't run it for free but that is a listen the price I'm doing it for is pretty much for fuck all just for anyone who doesn't quite make it to the end of the podcast where we'll put all the notes anywhere just just give yourself just give it a little shout out where they can find it okay so yeah I've I um and doing of all I've got an app called Lockie's Kitchen Lockie's Kitchen I've got an app called Lockie's Fitness yeah it's my work app it's my fitness app um if you go and download it it's got everything you need pretty much to get in shape it's very it's very real it's very simple you know it's the thing is it's simple things but ultimately I can tell you exactly what I'm doing in this app is everything is how I live you know I I use um I use a calorie tracker and I track all my macros because if you don't track it you could you listen how can you maintain or get into shape when you don't actually know what you're you know you need to know where you're starting from so this you go in and you put in you put in your your credentials um find out where you're starting from and you can map from there whether you want to you know tone up build muscle or lose weight okay if that makes sense yeah and then you can obviously you track what you're doing you need to you need to track what you're eating on a daily basis your your proteins your fats and your carbs that's the main three things you can calorie can I'm not a massive calorie counter but the the the fats the carbs and uh your protein you need you need to to monitor that you know and people like listen this day and age people eat people overindulge in carbs you know everything is carbs even bits of fruit you know vegetables they're all carbs you know what I'm saying and$749 a month$7.49 a month and and there's some add-ons or some upgrades you can pay for more some upgrades as well so at the minute look the app the app's quite new so for$749 look it's it just gives you an in-depth perspective of what I actually do on a daily basis.
00:38:44.159 --> 00:38:50.239
I I'll literally all the all the work all the nutrition plans the worker plans are everything that I do on a daily basis this is what I live by.
00:38:50.320 --> 00:38:51.679
So that app is very personal to me.
00:38:51.760 --> 00:39:07.599
It's not one of these apps I just put my name to it's my app if you want to know what I'm doing and how I keep in shape how I can you know yo-yo at one minute where I can overindulge and go out last night, have a few drinks eat what I want but then I can still get up and do a photo shoot the next day is because I'm living by what I'm doing within this app.
00:39:07.679 --> 00:39:15.280
Now within the app at the minute like I said it's very new at the minute I'm gonna start there's gonna be upgrades there's certain things where you can buy more personalized workouts.
00:39:15.360 --> 00:41:07.039
There's a few people I'm training at the minute one being Arj so when people I'm doing like a body transformation with Arch just to show that it's not it is discipline it is what I'm saying what I'm preaching is the truth and I'm and people have seen that already so I'm doing a 12 week uh what did I start with a six week transformation with Arj doing a 12 week one were you doing against the muscle on him yes so he's he's lost a lot of weight I mean he looks like he looks like a different man I mean literally unrecognizable no listen he's lost loads of weight he looks brand new this is he's a completely changed man he's changed his life for the better I'm proud of him as a friend I'm proud of him but he's at the point now where he's got loads of things back on track he's lost the weight he's sorted himself out he stopped drinking because that was having a negative effect on him and he's happier than ever you know he's still doing TV he's um you know he's doing uh stuff for the arch panel I'm gonna see him tonight he's he's performing at Sheesh and and he's smashing it I'm I'm I'm happy for the guy you know I'm genuinely happy for him as a friend now he wants to he's come to me like he's like look I've lost loads of weight he's looking double well but he now wants to look more aesthetic he wants to put on a bit of muscle if you like so the right the right sort of weight so I'm helping him with that I'm literally showing him he's training with me so people that follow me they'll you'll see that he's doing exactly what I'm doing um you know in any obviously I'm I'm I'm doing like a one-to-one PT and training him so and that's what I'm gonna start doing within the app so with the app I'm gonna start doing one-to-one training online coaching plus I will for selective people I'll start doing personalized coaching as well like I'm doing with Arge you've been quite open with your battles uh with body dysmorphia yes yeah yeah yeah so people look people uh again it's another it's a it's another subject is a bit of a it's something that people can't always grasp you can be in social is that been something that's always been with you or do you is that something that's developed what we've been on the TV and more in the public eye right so it's it's definitely I spoke about this on Good Morning Britain the other day.
00:41:07.199 --> 00:41:45.679
So the body dysmorphia everyone's got it in some aspect it's not just the women men have it as well you know whether you're you know you're what you're you you're you have a picture with your friends and you're double you're checking that picture that's body dysmorphia or you might have a look at it but if you're overly looking or I'm not I don't like that one it it's insecurities that's body dysmorphia you're finding fault in yourself I look shit there no you don't you're you're finding fault in yourself so whether it's just having a picture whether you're not on TV you're training you're a you're a man or a woman you're training you know you're going away you're going to my bay you're going to I befa you want to look or you're getting married do you know what I'm saying it's like that's not being comfortable with just who you are at that present point of time.
00:41:45.840 --> 00:42:26.000
So if that is body dysmorphia do you know what I'm saying that is in some aspect and obviously it's emphasized when you're on TV or in the public eye you know uh whether you like it or not this is a very vain industry like you the better you look the more money you make like if I wasn't in shape there'd be I want me doing a fitness app you know I want me getting fitness fitness endorsements like you you are like I am a walking like I'm a business I'm a walking advert for my own business if I get out of shape and if I'm not in shape no one's gonna go buy my app does that make sense so then the bodies morphia kicks in because then I'm not just competing with other reality stars or other people within this industry I'm competing with fitness models.
00:42:26.079 --> 00:44:08.159
Now fitness I'm not a fitness model fitness models I'm not in front of that that discipline takes goes to another level where they're not out something last night they wouldn't be out drinking uh having eating what we're eating at all trust me I believe them boys they live a very regimented and a very listen I'll say boring with all due respect um of course they love it they're not they love it my hats off to them again everyone's different that's their business they don't listen they are again they you it's it's like it's a lifestyle it's a lifestyle but the problem is I can't live that lifestyle doing what I do do you know what I'm saying it it's it kind of reacts but it's the balance isn't it ever everything everything is a trade off to something else and I mean listen I'll never take it to the extremes like you say of a of a of a fitness model uh and I'll you'll probably struggle to get a six pack but I think I was probably making excuses excuses for myself before you could get there though you could get there anyone oh I can I mean absolutely absolutely when I say struggle I don't mean I'm physically incapable I mean I just have things that you that you that you thrive in that's again it's just like talking to someone as an individual I'm talking about me and you here there's uh there's areas that you uh excel in that I need to be more disciplined in not before I went out last night we had a few drinks you went home I stayed out see that discipline you're up 9 a.m work at do you know what I'm saying me doing that that's has a knock-on effect you know what I'm saying it's like I'm not I'm I'm good I'm not 100% today I I would have been do you know what I'm saying we probably should have done this after we should have done tonight see see that discipline so in some aspects where I go out and that like we were out for a bit of dinner I'm only eating I'm limiting my carbs even last night when I'm a little bit I've had a few drinks I'm still limiting the carbs I'm I'm just eating purely protein yeah and you might be eating you know a bit more rice.
00:44:08.400 --> 00:45:10.400
Tampora yeah yes tempura prawns when I stayed away from them so I've disciplined like that but like I'm saying that at the same time so that's one good thing but then you know it's 11 o'clock to whatever time it was after stayed out with a few friends I had a few more drinks yeah there's nothing wrong with that but when I've got something to do today I shouldn't have I should have just gone home like you was a professional so that's what I'm trying to say in one area you might not excel in but in other areas you do and it's all about balance it's it's it's finding that it's finding that that balance with anyone and let's let's look into that a bit then and and to kind of see why because so yeah true complete true example I go home you don't now I'm not looking at the fact that I've gone home because oh I'm so disciplined and you know I need to do it is disciplined I get yeah it's like a byproduct is the discipline because I think if I stay out tonight yeah I know that I had a podcast before this one and I also have some calls and stuff to make I know that if I go to bed at three o'clock full of booze and get up at six I'm gonna feel a fucking dog like an absolute dog.
00:45:10.880 --> 00:45:19.199
And I guess I'll be I'll be punishing myself and as fun as it may be to start for a couple of hours more I know it's not going to be worth it to move it.
00:45:19.280 --> 00:45:28.960
And uh heat the moment though that's my I guess that's my it's not that I'm clever and super disciplined I just think I don't want to feel like shit tomorrow and I don't want to let people down why can't you do it?
00:45:29.119 --> 00:45:57.679
But it is discipline that is discipline because see with me it's all or nothing out of sight out of mind that me as a person out like I was always gonna drink yesterday if I'm out I'm out there's no like going I've never I'm not that guy that goes down the puff for a couple of couple of beers after work I've never been that guy my dad's never been that guy if we're out we're out so what I do is I don't put myself in that environment you know I'd rather be if I'm it's an environment where I'm just clean living training every day working grafting every day yeah that is I'm a complete different person.
00:45:57.840 --> 00:47:01.280
Don't know I'm still professional I'm here now I'm still here I'll still turn up but I'm I'm a better person a better version of myself had I not been out last night see what I'm saying yeah um and listen fair play to you fair play to anyone to go out have a few drinks go I can't and there's a lot of people like that but like you say it it is it's a parallel to the to the food that I guess you you you couldn't do that so you went out and I guess because that was more important to you to go out whereas with the food you know you could avoid the tempora and I couldn't because I just think I don't care enough I want that tempura I want that tempura because you know I I don't care about the um the lack of six pack don't get it wrong look it's not when it's having a negative negative effect like say I went out last night and I hadn't turned up today that's when it's is a problem because when you're not doing the fit your commitments work or any sort of commitments even if you're missing you know missing a dinner date or a lunch date with a friend when you're missing commitments because you've gone out and got on the piss that's when it's a problem if it's affecting you in that sense that's that's when you need to really look at yourself.
00:47:01.679 --> 00:47:02.480
Do you know what I'm saying?
00:47:02.719 --> 00:47:11.599
What I'm getting at is just that having that mindset where if I just left I would feel a bit better you know I'll be that bit better.
00:47:11.760 --> 00:47:17.920
Like I said like anyone watching this now be like you're sweet I know I'm sweet but I'm just saying you're professional this is what I do.
00:47:18.159 --> 00:47:29.760
But at the same time I know myself I'm not 100% does that make sense absolutely and that's because of my own life choices and again going back to having that discipline you know discipline in in certain areas.
00:47:30.000 --> 00:48:25.440
And just going back to the body dysmorphia when like you say everybody has it because you know we all look at a picture or you know compare ourselves a bit but how do you control it so it m it doesn't it doesn't get away from being let's say uh a competitive reason for you to try and better yourself to where it actually becomes a problem because yeah you know like I don't know if I look at a picture and say oh you know Lockie looks a bit more mushy than me I need to uh I need to get down to the gym that's positive bodysmorphia if I look at you and go to that's negative no no that's negative bodysmorphia you looking at me thinking you looking at me thinking oh Lockie looks a bit mussy I need to get down the gym that's negative no but I mean I'm using it for a positive reason like I'm not gonna punish myself but is it I think that's actually a negative I think that's actually because since back in the day I used to look at Van Damme or Arnie that is where it all stems from you sit you're the hero looking a certain way you're competing subconsciously you're competing with that person.
00:48:25.519 --> 00:48:31.599
You're thinking that heroes in everyday life heroes don't look like that but but I guess I'm what I'm saying is I'm not doing it to compete with you.
00:48:31.920 --> 00:48:55.840
I'm using that to make myself better but not at the expense of my health and safety like I'm not gonna get fucking healthy this is I'm gonna go and starve myself but this is where it goes wrong because right you're looking at for a uh um inspiration but people get obsessed with it and you're not me so you're not gonna look like me and I guess and that and that was my question you know where where where's the line between inspiration and that's where it becomes trouble.
00:48:55.920 --> 00:49:21.760
And that's what I'm trying to say this is where it's a very slippery slope it's like when someone's confident or arrogant it's a very fine line you know inspiration or whether it be in a positive and a negative you can be I I look at certain fitness models like I said when I was a kid I wanted to be I want to look like Arnold Sports you know I think most boys did that was how a hero in your head that's what you know Superman Batman they're not fat are they you know they they're they're how you how you look at them as kids that's what you want to look at.
00:49:21.840 --> 00:49:53.119
But then you're still it's it's subconsciously trying to achieve that can sometimes get carried away you can get lost in trying to achieve perfection and perfection is ultimately in your own head you know saying you've got to love yourself yeah I know I'm in good shape but I will still find thought I'll take pictures even though I've ripped I've got a six pack I'll still find thought in myself do you know what I'm saying I'll let you know people think I'm mad when I look at pictures sometimes I if I show add a picture of me I'll find fault in it even me looking ripped.
00:49:53.199 --> 00:49:58.880
And when people give me compliments I find hard to take compliments because I will look at a picture I'm not seeing what they see.
00:49:59.039 --> 00:49:59.840
Does that make sense?
00:50:00.159 --> 00:52:58.079
And that's down to you as a person and in not becoming this is why I spoke the other day because I see a lot of kids getting obsessed a lot of young adults there's adults our own age because I've got some of my friends the same age as us older than us um that talk to me about that's that's that's that's that's one problem but when when the youngsters are becoming obsessed um with with their body they should be obsessed about business about life being a better person don't get obsessed with being you know looking a certain way that's a very shallow way and a very negative way to live all about anxiety I think you've you you've you've struggled with that as well anxiety I think everyone struggles with anxiety to some aspect even me someone that comes into the room I'm very confident I go into certain situations you know I meet a lot of people from different backgrounds you know as you probably do um with business uh events networking and you know sometimes it is when you're going into a into an environment that you you're not comfortable with you know they're not one of your own if you like not something you're brought up with or brought up around where it's it's second nature it can be uncomfortable and it will give you anxiety like I could have done a podcast with someone else and that person I might never have met before it's natural it might be anxiety it might be minimal anxiety but it's still anxiety to a certain degree turn up the you know the anticipation you know apprehension of meeting that person you don't know you know you need to gauge that person I could have sat here not got on you could have been hard whoever you are like hard work and it would have made this podcast painful and how how do you control I mean I guess for you or for the people what do you do to make it to make it better again overthinking overthinking is the worst thing in the world overthinking overanalysing see where it be body dysmorphia um and you're overanalyzed don't stop stop overanalysing take a couple of pictures just stop you have to just stop yourself you know and be like listen that's sweet that one's fine done leave it at that don't keep looking at it pick a picture go into a room don't overthink it I could sit in now thinking oh is he thinking I'm talking all the bollocks whether I am whether I'm not we're here now we're having a chat this is real this is raw you know no smoke or mirrors it is what it is stop worrying about how people so I could be sitting there thinking about oh what people are gonna think about what I'm saying and he's gonna think oh is he talking fuck him the concern off turn it off if you don't like it don't listen you don't like me don't follow me don't like me don't be around me don't invite me on your podcast it is this is me accepting who you are being comfortable with that that's the power you know and like I said even though I'm this is I'm this self-aware and I'm which is a power in itself I still have days good and bad days where I will overanalyze certain things you know um and it just is what it is and it's heightened in this day and age because of everything you know social media um media in general you know what what we're told to look like eat drink sleep whatever whatever we're told to to be as a person is overanalyzed anyway and then being in this industry when you're actually that person in the magazine it's then tenfold which makes it a lot more difficult.
00:52:58.239 --> 00:53:02.400
Now I'm not sitting here saying I want you know I've done this again I can have a good morning Britain.
00:53:02.480 --> 00:54:00.000
I've done good morning Britain the other day and I spoke about I'm not looking for I was just making people aware of it the people even like me that people might look up to and people might think listen he's a good looking guy he's in shape he's very confident even someone like me probably more so someone like me suffers from body dysmorphia because it's that pressure if I all of a sudden I was putting a lot of weight straight away tabloids what's happened to Lockheed do you know what I'm saying I'd be in the tabloids I'd make daily mail if I turn up one day and I was fat say like like last time you've seen me on rips if I if I you know in a couple of weeks' time was pictured eating a fucking donut big fat fuck that would be that would make headline news you think how is that important how's that listen how is that the the the national news but it would and that's when the added pressure comes and it's what people don't acknowledge it's what I was trying to get at um and then also what I was letting people know that it's okay isn't it's listen you don't gotta be in shape 247 you haven't got to look perfect 20 or perfect in your mind 247.
00:54:00.320 --> 00:54:14.079
Just be comfortable with yourself do you know what I'm saying um and stop giving a fuck that's a powerful thing as well stop overanalysing stop giving a fuck you know everyone no one thinks about no one thinks about you as much as you think about yourself.
00:54:14.159 --> 00:54:15.199
That's what you need to remember.
00:54:15.360 --> 00:57:47.280
Well listen you're um a reality TV veteran yep uh many shows too many the biggest uh celebrity action on the beach the challenge what what we're missing well season uh so dating um of course done a few other little ones he's um you know a few of these little little shows if you like not little shows but more like just the one day as or a couple of days what's your favourite listen I I'm not look I love Taui I did love Taui was I enjoyed it I wouldn't have done it for 10 years um if I didn't enjoy it Taui was probably Taui becomes second nature why did you leave I haven't left at the minute it's the door's still open but what's happened I've took a I took a bit of time out to pursue other things so as a boy one of my boyhood dreams like see like now I'm at a point right where you know I'm in my 30s and I feel very comfortable very content with myself now saying that listen I said yeah bodysmorphia anxiety certain other things that a lot of people suffer from I do have them problems still yeah I still have them problems but they're not they're not they're not they don't hinder my daily routine I still go out and do my daily business and not locking myself away do you know what I'm saying it's like I still get on with life because life goes on it is what it is you know I'm a lot mentally stronger than that having them problems I'm not at a point where I'm that confident of if anything I feel like I'm in my peak of my life I feel very well rounded as an individual I feel very comfortable with myself in my own skin and now I'm trying to pursue certain dreams so one of them is acting I've always wanted to be an actor now I've not just woke up one day and thought look I've done reality I fancy doing acting I've gone away you know I've took a I've took a back step from reality you know I've stepped away from Taui I've gone down acting classes and doing acting classes with Jack Ryder used to be on Extenders Jamie from East I'm pursuing something I'm investing it's cost me money it's not free I'm putting a lot of money I'm losing money in other areas you know I've stepped away from other very lucrative endorsements for me you know I've been offered a lot of money to do certain things I stepped away from that because I need to clean up my image and being an actor you can't do certain things it's a very clicky industry you know is this this is a full-time job me being me is a full-time job even in reality there's a lot reality is a lot harder than people realise there's a lot more to it not everyone can do it people just think oh it's one of these rallies go and do it go and sit on camera it's a lot more to it than just being on camera and you know just it's not one man on the camera it's a full setup even today is very basic setup if you're on set for reality there's three characters there's a full crew there it's like you're filming a movie people don't realize that is a is a full-time thing there's a lot there's a lot of investment from you as a person but that was one part of my life and I enjoyed it I loved it but I look my look my uh you know admiration and my you know where I wanted to be uh in life you know my five year plan I want to be an actor I've always wanted to be an actor since I was young kid I've always loved the movies you know we all love the movies but I I'm actually love you know I sit there and I'm obsessed with films all different types of films you know I'll sit there watching films like I've watched films back to back all day I don't sit there watching normal TV I watch films I'm a proper film geek every type of film you know and yeah like I said I've always wanted to be an actor and that's what I've got away now because I want to I've got because I want to do something I'm that comfortable with myself I've gone away invested in myself and that's where I'm gonna be in five years I see myself being in Hollywood doing a big film and I'm what I'm gonna do that and I'm doing it for myself it's not for the fame it's not for other people it's for me it's something that I want to that's my legacy that's where I want to be what's the uh what's the dream role the dream film I see you in a guy richie gangster movie I'd love that see listen no that's a very a very um obvious obvious role but being someone don't say I'd love to be someone say like Jason Stapham um something like that Jason Stafham for me you know Jason Staffen's like the new Arnie or the new Van Dam.
00:57:47.360 --> 00:58:09.039
I'd love to be someone like that meet Ray Winston you know Ray Winston Jason Stafham that sort of role you know it's a very easy role there's a few films that I'm doing um I was meeting I met my with my director yesterday before I come and see you there's a couple of films that I'm doing you know um and that that's them sort of roles that's very easy that's the sort of with my background and how I talk and you know that it's a very easy role for me to fulfill but that's a starting point.
00:58:09.679 --> 00:58:14.400
I'd love to go and do theatre you know as well like people never ever see me on stage I'd love to try everything.
00:58:14.480 --> 00:58:17.039
You know I'm at the point now where I would actually give everything a go.
00:58:17.119 --> 00:58:20.880
Whether it's good or bad I'm gonna give it a go and I'm comfortable myself.
00:58:21.039 --> 00:58:33.519
And obviously you sound very very committed to that how talking in terms of I guess of failure or of of commitment to something how how long will you give the acting like you say the door the door's open on tower no the acting's on me.
00:58:33.599 --> 00:58:36.000
So listen I'm not relying on anyone else the acting's dance and meat.
00:58:36.159 --> 00:59:06.559
But what I mean is like the door you say the door's open on Taui you can go back if you want but you you also think it's impacting on the acting I mean if you if you haven't made a movie by next year would you would you still go back to tower oh no no I'm committed to say I'm still doing TV okay I've still listened I mean I've I've just done a reality show but there's certain shows um there's certain shows that are see with the acting it is a little bit snobby in that world it is a little bit snobby it's not I don't know if it's snobby is the right word but if anything it's harder as a reality star to make that transition into acting than it is for a Joe Bloggs because you come with a stigma.
00:59:07.119 --> 00:59:08.559
I come as Lockie from Taui.
00:59:08.719 --> 00:59:48.960
Now I am lucky I'm not lucky from I'm lucky it's not locky from Taui but people pre-perceive me as that character now I'm playing myself but you're you're still you're seeing a snippet of me you're seeing a snippet of me within that show you know you've got to remember it's scripted reality you know things are set up you know uh for your entertainment it's a show people watch extenders and they get overinvested they start thinking you know Ian Bill's Ian Bill Mitchell's film which they're playing a character that makes sense and even though even reality when you're on a show like scripted reality yes we're playing ourselves but it's 50 50 it's it's it's in the middle it's a very fine line where a lot of the stuff that you're doing you know is set up for the entertainment of the viewer.
00:59:49.679 --> 00:59:58.320
With the acting now I feel like I can step away go and indulge being playing a character you know it's it's that's that's that's stepping out of reality for me.
00:59:58.400 --> 00:59:59.519
And for me, I enjoy it more.
00:59:59.599 --> 01:00:00.719
I love I love acting.
01:00:00.800 --> 01:00:06.320
I love being the acting, stepping out of my comfort zone, uh, playing someone else or portraying someone else.
01:00:06.400 --> 01:00:07.360
It's exciting, it's fun.
01:00:07.519 --> 01:00:08.480
You used to do it when you're a kid.
01:00:08.639 --> 01:00:09.920
When you're a kid, you got no worries in the world.
01:00:10.000 --> 01:00:15.519
You'll you'll sit there, you'll play, you know, well, you're playing, you know, Cops and Rubbles with your pal, you know, Cowboys and Indians.
01:00:15.679 --> 01:00:18.000
You, you know, you're stepping out, you're playing a character.
01:00:18.079 --> 01:00:20.320
You're, you're, you know, is it isn't it's not reality.
01:00:20.480 --> 01:00:21.280
Does that make sense?
01:00:21.840 --> 01:00:24.480
We talk about scripted reality and things being real or not real.
01:00:24.559 --> 01:00:30.559
Obviously, your most recent uh recent reality was um Celebrity X on the Beach, which started a week or so ago.
01:00:30.800 --> 01:00:31.440
I started a week ago.
01:00:31.519 --> 01:00:35.679
I'm not in it at the minute, so I've done this the second time I've done that show.
01:00:35.920 --> 01:00:39.599
Um I don't know if my ex Yasmin this time.
01:00:39.679 --> 01:00:41.840
Uh how real are those kind of things?
01:00:41.920 --> 01:00:46.320
Because we say we say it's scripted, you know, you're kind of playing a play in a role even though it's yourself.
01:00:46.400 --> 01:00:48.880
I mean, uh are they is it still a surprise when shows like that?
01:00:49.039 --> 01:00:50.639
You can understand, like, see the show.
01:00:50.960 --> 01:00:59.679
So me and my ex flying out to Grand Canaria and being in a villa for two weeks, that's not reality, is it?
01:00:59.760 --> 01:01:01.360
Like, that's the scripted parties.
01:01:01.599 --> 01:01:08.639
Getting us both to go to, I'd never have been to Grand Canary, I've never bumped into my ex in that environment had it not been for the show, orchestrating that.
01:01:08.719 --> 01:01:10.079
So that's where it becomes scripted.
01:01:10.239 --> 01:01:11.440
That's what people need to understand.
01:01:11.599 --> 01:01:18.639
Then see if you're no, you know, because most of the time, say you see an ex, you might bump into an ex um, you know, at a bar, restaurants, you ain't got to go and speak to him.
01:01:18.719 --> 01:01:22.400
You might see him, depending on how who the ex is, whether you speak to him is all on you.
01:01:22.559 --> 01:01:25.920
When you're on a TV show, you're told you have to, I have to engage with that ex.
01:01:26.079 --> 01:01:28.960
Whether I like him or I don't, they're told you're told to engage.
01:01:29.039 --> 01:01:29.920
Do you know what I'm saying?
01:01:30.159 --> 01:01:36.159
Because the end result is, you know, filmed for entertainment.
01:01:36.239 --> 01:01:37.280
It's for do you know what I'm saying?
01:01:37.360 --> 01:01:39.679
It's for the for the pleasure of the viewer.
01:01:40.079 --> 01:01:42.639
Um, so that's when it becomes not reality.
01:01:42.719 --> 01:01:47.840
So I'm saying, even though it's reality, it's not reality because that was never, would never ever have happened.
01:01:48.000 --> 01:01:50.480
Any any goss from the season you can give us?
01:01:50.880 --> 01:01:54.079
Um just listen, can't give obviously too much away.
01:01:54.159 --> 01:01:55.920
Obviously, you know, everyone knows I'm coming into it.
01:01:56.000 --> 01:01:58.320
Um, obviously, me and Yasmin on it, we've come into it.
01:01:58.559 --> 01:02:02.320
Um I'm just gonna say that there's a lot, there's a lot of emotions.
01:02:02.559 --> 01:02:03.599
It's quite traumatic.
01:02:03.760 --> 01:02:05.039
Me and Yasmin always are.
01:02:05.119 --> 01:02:06.719
We're very, we're very similar.
01:02:06.960 --> 01:02:10.159
Um, and you know, we're when we're good, we're good.
01:02:10.320 --> 01:02:12.239
But when we're bad, we're we're we're very bad.
01:02:12.320 --> 01:02:13.119
That's what we're gonna say.
01:02:13.199 --> 01:02:14.639
It's a it's a very explosive series.
01:02:14.880 --> 01:02:16.320
We get to see some fireworks, yeah.
01:02:16.800 --> 01:02:17.679
Me and Yasmin are great now.
01:02:17.760 --> 01:02:21.840
Look, we're we're listening to me, you know, she's we will always be very good friends.
01:02:21.920 --> 01:02:27.119
I've got nothing but love, love for Yasmin, and she'll always be a part of my life, and we'll always be friends, you know.
01:02:27.199 --> 01:02:28.480
I've got a lot of time for her.
01:02:28.639 --> 01:02:34.639
Um, but put in the wrong environment, but we get on, we speak, we speak all the time, me and Yasmin, and we're cool.
01:02:34.719 --> 01:02:36.880
You know, she go and does her thing, I'm doing my thing.
01:02:37.039 --> 01:02:39.119
Um, but we're cool, you know.
01:02:39.280 --> 01:02:45.199
But put us in an environment, a certain environment, you know, especially when alcohol's involved.
01:02:45.360 --> 01:02:51.679
I feel like you know, it's it's it's a remedy for destruction, for chaos, and it does go off.
01:02:52.159 --> 01:03:03.760
Um, but like I said, we kick off, you know, and we're very we're very vocal, can be very volatile, but like I said, ultimately we both love each other, have a respect for each other, and that's why we're still friends.
01:03:03.840 --> 01:03:04.639
We're friends now, you know.
01:03:04.719 --> 01:03:07.920
But on the show, you're gonna see, yeah, mixed emotions.
01:03:08.000 --> 01:03:10.559
Let's just say a lot of mixed emotions, highs and lows.
01:03:10.719 --> 01:03:11.920
I feel better that we had it.
01:03:12.000 --> 01:03:13.440
We hadn't spoken a year before I'd done it.
01:03:14.320 --> 01:03:18.000
Yeah, and I feel we sort of half did fall out, and I feel better.
01:03:18.159 --> 01:03:21.199
We needed a lot of when you see someone, there was a lot of emotions.
01:03:21.440 --> 01:03:26.239
It was a lot of like there was love there, but a lot of you know hurt and anger as well.
01:03:26.320 --> 01:03:27.760
And I think you see that on the show.
01:03:27.920 --> 01:03:28.880
So yeah, it's good.
01:03:29.280 --> 01:03:30.880
I'll look forward to checking it out.
01:03:31.199 --> 01:03:35.760
So, other than seeing you on the big screen, what's uh what have we got to look forward to next for Lockheed?
01:03:35.920 --> 01:03:38.239
Obviously, I'm doing the app and a minute I've got the app the fitness stuff.
01:03:38.320 --> 01:03:41.679
So in a minute, I've not tried to not spread myself too thinly.
01:03:41.840 --> 01:03:45.760
Uh, I'm doing things that, you know, yes, work, but things that make me happy.
01:03:45.840 --> 01:03:46.559
Like even the podcast.
01:03:46.719 --> 01:03:47.920
I get asked to do podcasts all day.
01:03:48.079 --> 01:03:51.199
I'm here because I get on, I get on you with with friends, and I feel very comfortable.
01:03:51.360 --> 01:03:56.800
You can see I've just talked to the word bollocks today, but I feel very comfortable and I'm doing things that please me, you know.
01:03:56.960 --> 01:03:58.800
Um, so yes, the acting is where I want to be.
01:03:58.880 --> 01:04:01.360
It's been a boyhood, a childhood dream.
01:04:01.440 --> 01:04:02.239
That's where I'm gonna be.
01:04:02.400 --> 01:04:03.119
I will be an actor.
01:04:03.199 --> 01:04:04.480
You know, I'm still doing reality TV.
01:04:04.559 --> 01:04:06.800
There's a few shows, big shows that I'm in line for.
01:04:06.880 --> 01:04:08.079
I'm waiting to hear back.
01:04:08.320 --> 01:04:09.119
Still doing reality.
01:04:09.199 --> 01:04:13.440
I still will probably pop in to Taui one day and and do little cameos here and there.
01:04:13.679 --> 01:04:16.000
But the the main goal for me is the acting.
01:04:16.079 --> 01:04:17.199
That's where I want to be in the future.
01:04:17.360 --> 01:04:19.119
Then again, and the fitness, the fitness stuff.
01:04:19.199 --> 01:04:20.800
The fitness keeps me, you know.
01:04:20.960 --> 01:04:29.039
Um, I'll probably go to the gym after this because the fitness keeps me mentally sane and it keeps me well balanced and well-rounded, and it keeps me grounded, you know, going to the gym.
01:04:29.199 --> 01:04:31.039
I think going to the gym is a cure for anything.
01:04:31.199 --> 01:04:36.320
So yeah, just mainly just doing things this year and in the future that make me happy.
01:04:36.480 --> 01:04:38.000
You know, that's what's that's what life's about.
01:04:38.159 --> 01:04:42.400
Well, listen, that's fantastic advice for anyone at any age in any walk of life, buddy.
01:04:42.480 --> 01:04:43.760
It's been a pleasure having you here.
01:04:43.840 --> 01:04:47.119
Uh, like I say, always good to do with a friend and uh would have been eye sharp.
01:04:48.000 --> 01:04:49.920
I worried about your parking meter.
