ABOUT THIS EPISODE
What happens when a physician begins looking beyond traditional mental health diagnoses and asks: Can objective brain data help us better understand the person behind the diagnosis?
In this episode of the Stellar Success Podcast, Dr. Steve Rondeau shares his journey from developmental pediatrics and working with children with autism, developmental delays, and seizures to becoming deeply involved in EEG, brain imaging, AI, and data-driven approaches to mental health.
Dr. Rondeau discusses how his experience working in an integrative mental health center led him to question how mental health conditions are assessed and treated, eventually inspiring him to explore how brain data could provide another lens for understanding patients.
A major turning point came after working with patients affected by severe mental health challenges and suicide. This led Dr. Rondeau to focus more deeply on brain scan data, eventually building a large repository of scans and exploring how AI could identify patterns across different populations.
🎙️ In this episode, you'll discover:

One of the most powerful themes in this conversation is that a diagnosis does not necessarily tell the whole story. Dr. Rondeau explains how people with the same diagnosis can present with very different brain patterns and life experiences—and why understanding those differences may help providers better understand the individual sitting in front of them.
The conversation also explores the intersection of medicine, AI, entrepreneurship, and human connection, including Dr. Rondeau's perspective on why AI should be viewed as a tool that can expand what healthcare professionals are able to analyze rather than simply replace them.
