ABOUT THIS EPISODE
In this meditation, we begin our series on the saintly friends of St. Josemaria with a focus on St. John Vianney, known as the Curé of Ars.
Msgr. Martin Schlag poses the question of why St. Josemaria chose St. John Vianney as an intercessor for Opus Dei, particularly regarding relations with the local bishop. By reflecting on the reasons for this saint's patronage, Msgr. Schlag helps us apply these lessons to how we can each touch Christ's heart in our own prayer and our own relationships.
PAUSE AND REFLECT:
- Does my attitude towards priests reflect the Christian virtues of reverence, understanding, and hope?
- How do I react to the image of the sacrament of Confession being like “bathing in the love of God”?
- How could I support my local pastor better? What about my local bishop?
- How can I apply the lessons from the Curé of Ars' devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ—from how his own wounds were transformed in Christ's heart, thus allowing the wounds of Christ to be a source of mercy and love for him?
- What could I do so that St. Josemaria could be more of a father to me?
