ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Hello and welcome to JAZZPOD SIX.
Immerse yourself in ‘SOUNDS LIKE JAZZ’, where the soulful tunes of all the greats of the mid-century become your heartbeat. Today there is an emphasis on live performance and improvisation on popular themes.
Imagine a JAZZPOD, where time seems to stand still, and every note tells a story with contributions from special people with ordinary names like Charlie, Lionel, Dave and Anita.
Explore the evolution of jazz, from the Original Dixieland Jazzband ragtime to bebop, cool jazz to swing, it's a journey that continues to surprise and inspire. For instance The Massey Hall Quintet sounds relaxed from the opening number, “Perdido,” whose familiar melody is met with a bursts of applause not just once, but every time they play the recognizable phrase.
