5
00:00:17.559 --> 00:00:20.559
a comedy call right now with a very funny Travis Larson.
6
00:00:20.620 --> 00:00:23.420
He is from Rapid City, South Dakota. You can see
7
00:00:23.460 --> 00:00:26.940
him tonight for free at Billy Frog, 7.30 tonight. There's
8
00:00:26.980 --> 00:00:29.179
also a show tomorrow night at the Grain Bin. You
9
00:00:29.219 --> 00:00:31.120
will need a ticket for that, but it's affordable. First
10
00:00:31.160 --> 00:00:32.450
of all, Travis, how you doing, man?
11
00:00:32.750 --> 00:00:33.630
I'm doing good. How are you?
12
00:00:33.869 --> 00:00:37.329
Fantastic. Now, Travis, how long have you been doing stand-up comedy?
13
00:00:37.969 --> 00:00:41.009
Oh, I think it's a little over three years now.
14
00:00:41.670 --> 00:00:44.429
And home base for you is Rapid City, South Dakota?
15
00:00:45.030 --> 00:00:47.920
Yep, I do a lot of shows at the West
16
00:00:47.960 --> 00:00:49.789
River Comedy Club here in Rapid.
17
00:00:50.619 --> 00:00:52.579
And that is a fun little place. So, folks, if
18
00:00:52.600 --> 00:00:54.340
you're ever in the Black Hills, be sure to stop
19
00:00:54.420 --> 00:00:56.320
in and check out the West River Comedy Club. That
20
00:00:56.359 --> 00:00:59.799
is in Rapid City, South Dakota. And again, Travis is
21
00:00:59.979 --> 00:01:02.520
on his way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He's going
22
00:01:02.549 --> 00:01:05.109
to be at Billy Frog's tonight. Have you done comedy
23
00:01:05.150 --> 00:01:06.109
in Sioux Falls before?
24
00:01:06.129 --> 00:01:10.409
I've done one of my buddies, Rob. He used to
25
00:01:10.469 --> 00:01:14.370
live here in Rapid, and he moved down to Sioux Falls.
26
00:01:14.469 --> 00:01:17.209
So I've done an open mic with him down there,
27
00:01:17.769 --> 00:01:22.010
but no real shows yet. until tonight.
28
00:01:22.510 --> 00:01:25.689
Yes, tonight at Billy Frogs. And Rob, who you just mentioned,
29
00:01:25.709 --> 00:01:29.030
will be opening for you tonight and tomorrow night. So folks,
30
00:01:29.079 --> 00:01:30.530
if you get a chance, come on out, have some
31
00:01:30.560 --> 00:01:33.099
fun tonight. I encourage you to get to Billy Frogs
32
00:01:33.120 --> 00:01:35.200
at about 7, so you'll have a table and a
33
00:01:35.239 --> 00:01:38.840
really good place to sit. But the show starts at 7.30.
34
00:01:38.840 --> 00:01:41.719
And then tomorrow, same thing, doors open tomorrow at 7
35
00:01:41.719 --> 00:01:44.200
o'clock at the Grain Bin. That's the back room of
36
00:01:44.260 --> 00:01:46.859
the Red Eye. And we open the doors at 7.00.
37
00:01:46.859 --> 00:01:49.700
The show starts at 7.30, and I encourage you to
38
00:01:49.719 --> 00:01:51.480
get out and have some fun with us. Again, tonight's
39
00:01:51.500 --> 00:01:54.780
show is free. It's courtesy of our friends at Billy Frogs.
40
00:01:55.109 --> 00:01:56.930
Tomorrow night, there is a ticket, but it's a very
41
00:01:56.950 --> 00:01:58.849
affordable one. And if you become a member of the
42
00:01:58.890 --> 00:02:01.430
Sioux Falls Comedy Club, it's even more affordable. We're doing
43
00:02:01.469 --> 00:02:04.569
everything we can to give you more funny for less money.
44
00:02:05.049 --> 00:02:06.969
And again, one of our comics on the line with
45
00:02:07.030 --> 00:02:09.870
us right now, Travis, will be performing tonight and tomorrow night.
46
00:02:10.210 --> 00:02:13.139
And Travis Larson, how do you describe your style of
47
00:02:13.199 --> 00:02:14.960
humor for somebody that hasn't had a chance to see
48
00:02:14.979 --> 00:02:15.340
you before?
49
00:02:16.310 --> 00:02:20.030
It's definitely not clean. I would say leave the kids
50
00:02:20.090 --> 00:02:23.000
with a sitter if you're coming out. But I try
51
00:02:23.020 --> 00:02:26.960
to have fun and be as relatable as I can
52
00:02:27.039 --> 00:02:29.689
with all the weird things that happen in my life,
53
00:02:29.909 --> 00:02:30.310
I guess.
54
00:02:31.270 --> 00:02:33.590
Well, I've heard very good things, and I'm excited for
55
00:02:33.629 --> 00:02:35.430
people to get a chance to see you tonight at
56
00:02:35.490 --> 00:02:38.620
Billy Frog, 7.30 tonight. Tomorrow night at the Grain Men,
57
00:02:38.659 --> 00:02:40.900
that's the back room of the Red Eye, again, 7.30
58
00:02:40.900 --> 00:02:44.000
tomorrow night as well. And you can win a VIP
59
00:02:44.120 --> 00:02:46.860
table that's for you and three friends, so a table
60
00:02:46.919 --> 00:02:49.300
for four tomorrow night. You can sign up for that
61
00:02:49.460 --> 00:02:53.909
right now at SiouxFallsComedy.com. Now, let's talk about your inspiration
62
00:02:53.949 --> 00:02:55.930
when it comes to stand-up comics. Is there somebody that
63
00:02:56.189 --> 00:02:58.050
you would say is maybe somebody you really look up
64
00:02:58.090 --> 00:02:59.569
to and find quite humorous?
65
00:03:00.250 --> 00:03:04.560
Well, I'd honestly say I've been watching Dave Chappelle since
66
00:03:05.039 --> 00:03:07.960
way before I should have been watching Dave Chappelle. But
67
00:03:08.439 --> 00:03:10.960
I think I think he's one of the greatest to
68
00:03:11.020 --> 00:03:14.210
do it. And he's really inspired me to to get
69
00:03:14.289 --> 00:03:16.009
out there and give it a give it a shot.
70
00:03:16.300 --> 00:03:18.939
That's awesome. So, Travis, what led to you becoming a
71
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:19.520
stand-up comedian?
72
00:03:19.560 --> 00:03:20.740
How in the world did you decide, I'm going to
73
00:03:20.759 --> 00:03:22.199
get on stage and tell some jokes?
74
00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:25.939
It was actually, I was at an open mic in Rapid,
75
00:03:26.120 --> 00:03:29.740
and one of my good friends actually just peer pressured
76
00:03:29.759 --> 00:03:33.030
me to get on stage. And after that first time,
77
00:03:33.129 --> 00:03:36.430
I just couldn't get enough of it. It was just
78
00:03:36.449 --> 00:03:39.689
such a good time interacting with the crowd and hearing
79
00:03:39.729 --> 00:03:42.150
everybody laugh and have a good time and kind of
80
00:03:42.189 --> 00:03:43.030
fell in love with it.
81
00:03:43.530 --> 00:03:45.750
We are excited to have you in Sioux Falls, South
82
00:03:45.780 --> 00:03:48.240
Dakota tonight. Again, folks, if you get there at about
83
00:03:48.240 --> 00:03:50.300
7 o'clock tonight, you'll be able to get a table
84
00:03:50.319 --> 00:03:52.210
and be all set and ready to go. The show
85
00:03:52.370 --> 00:03:56.569
is at 7.30 at Billy Frog's. 57th and Marion is
86
00:03:56.610 --> 00:03:59.189
where you'll find Billy Frog's. Again, a free show tonight.
87
00:03:59.680 --> 00:04:02.000
Tomorrow night, the Grain Bin, that's also known as the
88
00:04:02.080 --> 00:04:04.759
back room of the Red Eye on Northcliffe Avenue, it's
89
00:04:04.819 --> 00:04:07.520
not a free show. Tickets are $ 15, or you can
90
00:04:07.539 --> 00:04:09.919
become a member of the Sioux Falls Comedy Club, and
91
00:04:09.960 --> 00:04:14.240
then you get more funny for less money, because it's $ 12. 50
92
00:04:12.800 --> 00:04:16.750
a person by doing that. All the details at SiouxFallsComedyClub.com,
93
00:04:17.009 --> 00:04:20.310
and you can win tickets at SiouxFallsComedy.com. Travis, I'm excited
94
00:04:20.329 --> 00:04:21.449
to have you in Sioux Falls tonight.
95
00:04:21.750 --> 00:04:23.509
Sounds good. I'm excited to be here.
96
00:04:23.870 --> 00:04:26.230
Again, Travis Larson, he is one of the stand-up comics
97
00:04:26.250 --> 00:04:28.660
that you will see on stage tonight. Rob Moe is
98
00:04:28.699 --> 00:04:30.699
another comic that will be on the stage with us tonight.
99
00:04:31.060 --> 00:04:33.779

58
00:02:40.900 --> 00:02:44.000
tomorrow night as well. And you can win a VIP
59
00:02:44.120 --> 00:02:46.860
table that's for you and three friends, so a table
60
00:02:46.919 --> 00:02:49.300
for four tomorrow night. You can sign up for that
61
00:02:49.460 --> 00:02:53.909
right now at SiouxFallsComedy.com. Now, let's talk about your inspiration
62
00:02:53.949 --> 00:02:55.930
when it comes to stand-up comics. Is there somebody that
63
00:02:56.189 --> 00:02:58.050
you would say is maybe somebody you really look up
64
00:02:58.090 --> 00:02:59.569
to and find quite humorous?
65
00:03:00.250 --> 00:03:04.560
Well, I'd honestly say I've been watching Dave Chappelle since
66
00:03:05.039 --> 00:03:07.960
way before I should have been watching Dave Chappelle. But
67
00:03:08.439 --> 00:03:10.960
I think I think he's one of the greatest to
68
00:03:11.020 --> 00:03:14.210
do it. And he's really inspired me to to get
69
00:03:14.289 --> 00:03:16.009
out there and give it a give it a shot.
70
00:03:16.300 --> 00:03:18.939
That's awesome. So, Travis, what led to you becoming a
71
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:19.520
stand-up comedian?
72
00:03:19.560 --> 00:03:20.740
How in the world did you decide, I'm going to
73
00:03:20.759 --> 00:03:22.199
get on stage and tell some jokes?
74
00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:25.939
It was actually, I was at an open mic in Rapid,
75
00:03:26.120 --> 00:03:29.740
and one of my good friends actually just peer pressured
76
00:03:29.759 --> 00:03:33.030
me to get on stage. And after that first time,
77
00:03:33.129 --> 00:03:36.430
I just couldn't get enough of it. It was just
78
00:03:36.449 --> 00:03:39.689
such a good time interacting with the crowd and hearing
79
00:03:39.729 --> 00:03:42.150
everybody laugh and have a good time and kind of
80
00:03:42.189 --> 00:03:43.030
fell in love with it.
81
00:03:43.530 --> 00:03:45.750
