5
00:00:17.469 --> 00:00:20.039
with Albert Bouchard. He is one of the founding members
6
00:00:20.059 --> 00:00:22.879
of a band called Blue Oyster Cult. Everybody knows and
7
00:00:22.940 --> 00:00:25.019
loves them. They're actually going to be, the band will,
8
00:00:25.359 --> 00:00:29.199
be at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort Saturday, November 7th. Now,
9
00:00:29.320 --> 00:00:31.120
Albert is not going to be here with the band,
10
00:00:31.379 --> 00:00:34.229
but he has been working his tail off in the studio,
11
00:00:34.509 --> 00:00:36.189
putting out a bunch of new music. Tell us about
12
00:00:36.210 --> 00:00:37.030
some of this new music.
13
00:00:37.369 --> 00:00:43.049
So this is a continuation of a series called of
14
00:00:43.350 --> 00:00:47.850
records that I, I did before, you know, the three, three, uh,
15
00:00:47.990 --> 00:00:51.469
the three acts of, uh, the imagino series. And, uh,
16
00:00:52.469 --> 00:00:56.929
this is new material, all new material that, uh, was
17
00:00:57.009 --> 00:01:02.219
discovered in, uh, 2024, uh, in Sandy's house when they
18
00:01:02.229 --> 00:01:07.040
were selling, selling it. And, uh, so I saw these
19
00:01:07.079 --> 00:01:10.810
signs and I said, Oh, gee, I, These all fit
20
00:01:10.870 --> 00:01:14.030
in the Imaginose concept. You know, a lot of them,
21
00:01:14.390 --> 00:01:18.010
you know, that Sandy had planned on doing something. And,
22
00:01:18.049 --> 00:01:21.569
of course, when the first record, you know, that came
23
00:01:21.650 --> 00:01:24.170
out as a Blue Oyster Cult record, it didn't do
24
00:01:24.230 --> 00:01:28.109
that well. We both kind of gave up on the
25
00:01:28.189 --> 00:01:30.819
idea of it. But then, you know, after he died,
26
00:01:30.840 --> 00:01:35.560
I told him when I visited him in the hospital
27
00:01:35.579 --> 00:01:38.400
that He was still alive, and I said, I'm going
28
00:01:38.420 --> 00:01:42.390
to do this for you. He seemed to be very
29
00:01:42.430 --> 00:01:45.530
appreciative of that. But then it took me a while
30
00:01:45.590 --> 00:01:50.260
to get it together. But in 2020, during the lockdown,
31
00:01:51.040 --> 00:01:53.599
I did the first record, and it turned out great.
32
00:01:53.840 --> 00:01:55.680
So I said, I'm going to do them all.
33
00:01:56.250 --> 00:01:58.650
Well, I think this is fascinating. The project is finally
34
00:01:58.709 --> 00:02:00.650
coming to a close. But when did you start on this?
35
00:02:00.709 --> 00:02:03.030
It sounds like you started on this a while ago.
36
00:02:03.049 --> 00:02:07.719
It started in 1967, like, you know, within a month
37
00:02:07.750 --> 00:02:11.400
or so of me meeting Sandy. He started talking about
38
00:02:11.900 --> 00:02:18.699
this concept of Imaginos. And within a few months of that,
39
00:02:19.099 --> 00:02:22.400
he presented us with a few songs. One of them
40
00:02:22.439 --> 00:02:27.439
was called Blue Oyster Coke. and so, uh, and this
41
00:02:27.479 --> 00:02:30.379
is when we were still the soft right underbelly. So, uh,
42
00:02:31.159 --> 00:02:34.580
you know, uh, when it came time to sign the
43
00:02:34.620 --> 00:02:38.169
Columbia contract, uh, you know, uh, two years later, uh,
44
00:02:40.110 --> 00:02:42.949
he said, ah, you should call it blue. I should
45
00:02:42.969 --> 00:02:46.669
call it. And we're like, what? That's the craziest name.
46
00:02:47.150 --> 00:02:49.389
He said, that's why it'd be great. You know, if
47
00:02:49.409 --> 00:02:52.259
you had to sell it to us, we were not convinced, but, uh,
48
00:02:53.330 --> 00:02:55.930
We had to sign the contract that day, so we
49
00:02:55.969 --> 00:02:59.050
had to make a decision. We said, okay, we'll use
50
00:02:59.110 --> 00:03:03.710
that name. But it started before Blue Oyster Cult was.
51
00:03:04.680 --> 00:03:07.139
I love that. I didn't realize that wasn't the original name.
52
00:03:07.180 --> 00:03:09.639
What was the original name going to be again?
53
00:03:10.360 --> 00:03:11.939
Soft White Underbelly.
54
00:03:12.400 --> 00:03:13.960
Well, I think that would have been a fine name
55
00:03:14.020 --> 00:03:15.530
as well. But boy, I got to just tell you,
56
00:03:15.539 --> 00:03:18.900
there's something special about the name Blue Oyster Cult. It's
57
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:19.979
just a perfect name.
58
00:03:20.289 --> 00:03:22.750
It worked out. It totally worked out, yeah.
59
00:03:22.889 --> 00:03:25.340
Now, Blue Oyster Cult has been very popular for many,
60
00:03:25.379 --> 00:03:28.479
many years, but you were introduced to another generation because
61
00:03:28.520 --> 00:03:31.180
of a skit on Saturday Night Live. I thought it
62
00:03:31.219 --> 00:03:33.400
was really, really funny. Did you guys find the humor
63
00:03:33.439 --> 00:03:34.319
in it as well in the band?
64
00:03:34.919 --> 00:03:37.840
I have seen it maybe a hundred times, and each
65
00:03:37.900 --> 00:03:41.780
time I laugh, I think it's magic. It's one of
66
00:03:41.819 --> 00:03:44.669
those things that you just can't You know, they didn't
67
00:03:44.729 --> 00:03:47.750
know that it was going to be that popular. You know,
68
00:03:47.789 --> 00:03:50.550
they were just trying to fill up the time, you know.
69
00:03:51.349 --> 00:03:56.110
And I know that Will Ferrell had written it, and
70
00:03:57.030 --> 00:04:00.509
they turned him down twice. You know, Lorne Michaels was like, no,
71
00:04:00.659 --> 00:04:06.520
this doesn't work. And then when Christopher Walken was going
72
00:04:06.539 --> 00:04:09.590
to be the host... Christopher Walken read it at the
73
00:04:09.620 --> 00:04:13.990
table reading, and they said, oh, this could work. Okay,
74
00:04:14.030 --> 00:04:17.889
let's give it a try. So, and it turned out
75
00:04:17.930 --> 00:04:21.560
to be great. I mean, I think that they, because
76
00:04:21.620 --> 00:04:25.439
they didn't quite know what they were doing, they were improvising,
77
00:04:25.899 --> 00:04:27.759
you know, when they were doing it. That's one of
78
00:04:27.779 --> 00:04:29.050
the reasons why it's so great.
79
00:04:30.860 --> 00:04:33.300
Well, I'm so glad to hear that you guys liked
80
00:04:33.339 --> 00:04:35.189
it as well, because I thought it was so funny,
81
00:04:35.379 --> 00:04:37.050
and I was hoping that I was going to hear
82
00:04:37.500 --> 00:04:40.290
that you liked it, because it exposed your music to
83
00:04:40.350 --> 00:04:42.790
a whole new generation who wants to hear more Cowbell.
84
00:04:43.050 --> 00:04:44.490
Absolutely, absolutely.
85
00:04:45.189 --> 00:04:47.410
We are excited to have Blue Oyster Cult at Grand

to this new music that you're putting out right now?
88
00:04:51.930 --> 00:04:54.930
Well, you can go to Apple Music. That's what I have,
89
00:04:54.970 --> 00:04:59.500
but it's also on Spotify and, you know, whatever... streaming
90
00:04:59.560 --> 00:05:01.620
service you can hear it right away if you want
91
00:05:01.720 --> 00:05:06.240

they have they have vinyl they have CDs and they
93
00:05:12.879 --> 00:05:15.550
have downloads so all of that well.
94
00:05:15.430 --> 00:05:17.389
That is fantastic and I'm going to make it really
95
00:05:17.449 --> 00:05:18.990

00:05:24.709 --> 00:05:27.589
will be at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort Saturday,
99

November 7th. We had mentioned Alan will not be here
100
00:05:30.490 --> 00:05:32.839
with the band. He's working right now on putting out
101
00:05:32.860 --> 00:05:35.160
this album. He's been working on this for a long time,

6
00:00:20.059 --> 00:00:22.879
of a band called Blue Oyster Cult. Everybody knows and
7
00:00:22.940 --> 00:00:25.019
loves them. They're actually going to be, the band will,

some of this new music.
13
00:00:37.369 --> 00:00:43.049
So this is a continuation of a series called of
14
00:00:43.350 --> 00:00:47.850
records that I, I did before, you know, the three, three, uh,
15
00:00:47.990 --> 00:00:51.469
the three acts of, uh, the imagino series. And, uh,
16
00:00:52.469 --> 00:00:56.929
this is new material, all new material that, uh, was
17

00:03:34.919 --> 00:03:37.840
I have seen it maybe a hundred times, and each
65
00:03:37.900 --> 00:03:41.780
time I laugh, I think it's magic. It's one of
66
00:03:41.819 --> 00:03:44.669
those things that you just can't You know, they didn't
67
00:03:44.729 --> 00:03:47.750
know that it was going to be that popular. You know,
68
00:03:47.789 --> 00:03:50.550
they were just trying to fill up the time, you know.
69
00:03:51.349 --> 00:03:56.110
And I know that Will Ferrell had written it, and
70
00:03:57.030 --> 00:04:00.509
they turned him down twice. You know, Lorne Michaels was like, no,
71
00:04:00.659 --> 00:04:06.520
this doesn't work. And then when Christopher Walken was going
72
00:04:06.539 --> 00:04:09.590
to be the host... Christopher Walken read it at the
73
00:04:09.620 --> 00:04:13.990
table reading, and they said, oh, this could work. Okay,
74
00:04:14.030 --> 00:04:17.889
let's give it a try. So, and it turned out
75
00:04:17.930 --> 00:04:21.560
to be great. I mean, I think that they, because
76
00:04:21.620 --> 00:04:25.439
they didn't quite know what they were doing, they were improvising,
77
00:04:25.899 --> 00:04:27.759
you know, when they were doing it. That's one of
78
00:04:27.779 --> 00:04:29.050
the reasons why it's so great.
79
00:04:30.860 --> 00:04:33.300
Well, I'm so glad to hear that you guys liked
80
00:04:33.339 --> 00:04:35.189
it as well, because I thought it was so funny,
81
00:04:35.379 --> 00:04:37.050
and I was hoping that I was going to hear
82
00:04:37.500 --> 00:04:40.290
that you liked it, because it exposed your music to
83
00:04:40.350 --> 00:04:42.790
a whole new generation who wants to hear more Cowbell.
84
00:04:43.050 --> 00:04:44.490
Absolutely, absolutely.
85
00:04:45.189 --> 00:04:47.410
We are excited to have Blue Oyster Cult at Grand
86
00:04:47.449 --> 00:04:49.689

00:04:51.930 --> 00:04:54.930
Well, you can go to Apple Music. That's what I have,
89
00:04:54.970 --> 00:04:59.500

94
00:05:15.430 --> 00:05:17.389

00:05:17.449 --> 00:05:18.990
easy to find I'll put it on our Facebook page

00:05:19.529 --> 00:05:21.589
Thank you. Again, Alan Bouchard, he is one of the
97
00:05:21.629 --> 00:05:24.670
founding members of Blue Oyster Cult. The band, like I said,
98
00:05:24.709 --> 00:05:27.589
will be at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort Saturday,
99
00:05:27.629 --> 00:05:30.410
November 7th. We had mentioned Alan will not be here
100
00:05:30.490 --> 00:05:32.839
with the band. He's working right now on putting out
101
00:05:32.860 --> 00:05:35.160
this album. He's been working on this for a long time,
102
00:05:35.199 --> 00:05:37.240
and it's finally here. And I've got a link to
