5
00:00:17.280 --> 00:00:19.260
right now with Dennis Turnwall. We're going to talk about
6
00:00:19.280 --> 00:00:21.960
a poker run that is coming up for Midwest Honor Flight.
7
00:00:22.059 --> 00:00:23.679
First of all, thank you for your time. I see
8
00:00:23.719 --> 00:00:26.489
it's the fourth annual poker run. So you guys have
9
00:00:26.510 --> 00:00:27.449
been doing this for a bit.
10
00:00:27.789 --> 00:00:30.210
Yes, sir, we have. This is the fourth year of
11
00:00:30.250 --> 00:00:33.310
raising a bunch of money for our well-deserved veterans, and
12
00:00:33.329 --> 00:00:34.990
we're excited to put it on again this year.
13
00:00:35.229 --> 00:00:37.310
Well, we've got a poker run, Midwest Honor Flight, and
14
00:00:37.329 --> 00:00:39.869
the Polaris giveaway. We've got all kinds of fun stuff
15
00:00:39.890 --> 00:00:41.429
to talk about. Where do we even start?
16
00:00:41.810 --> 00:00:44.609
Well, we can always start with that brand-new Polaris General
17
00:00:44.710 --> 00:00:47.799
that comes with a trailer provided by Prairie Wind Trailers.
18
00:00:47.840 --> 00:00:48.770
That's up for raffle.
19
00:00:49.079 --> 00:00:51.159
That is a very nice prize to win. And if
20
00:00:51.200 --> 00:00:53.219
somebody would like to get a ticket, there's still time, right?
21
00:00:53.520 --> 00:00:55.320
Oh, plenty of time. Buy them right up until about
22
00:00:55.359 --> 00:00:56.960
a minute before we give it away if we still
23
00:00:57.000 --> 00:01:00.560
have any available. There's only 1,000 tickets available, and they're
24
00:01:00.560 --> 00:01:00.979
$ 50 a ticket.
25
00:01:01.090 --> 00:01:03.869
Well, that is, again, a great opportunity to win a really,
26
00:01:03.929 --> 00:01:06.849
really cool prize. And when is that giveaway? Is that
27
00:01:06.989 --> 00:01:07.689
in November?
28
00:01:08.010 --> 00:01:11.329
Yes, sir. November 28th. That's a Saturday after Thanksgiving. That's
29
00:01:11.409 --> 00:01:13.469
Small Business Saturday. And I don't know a better way
30
00:01:13.500 --> 00:01:15.980
to do Small Business Saturday than to support a bunch
31
00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:17.420
of small local establishments.
32
00:01:17.859 --> 00:01:20.379
Absolutely. And when is the poker run? Is that between
33
00:01:20.420 --> 00:01:20.780
now and then?
34
00:01:20.799 --> 00:01:23.920
The poker run is on November 28th. That's Saturday with
35
00:01:23.969 --> 00:01:25.750
a big event at the end. We've got West and
36
00:01:25.790 --> 00:01:28.390
Frank playing. We're going to have a giant tent provided
37
00:01:28.430 --> 00:01:31.269
by Big Top Tents out there at Pilot Mike's Roadhouse
38
00:01:31.430 --> 00:01:32.290
on 4901 North TLS Road.
39
00:01:33.890 --> 00:01:36.409
That is awesome. I'm excited for that. That's very, very cool.
40
00:01:36.730 --> 00:01:38.170
I guess for some reason I was thinking it was
41
00:01:38.189 --> 00:01:40.730
two different events, but it's all together on the same day.
42
00:01:40.790 --> 00:01:42.030
That is going to be one heck of a day.
43
00:01:42.049 --> 00:01:43.629
Oh, it's going to be a wonderful day. We're going
44
00:01:43.650 --> 00:01:45.709
to have a sign-up from 11 to 1, free to
45
00:01:45.730 --> 00:01:48.280
roam wherever you'd like. We're going to travel around up north.
46
00:01:48.299 --> 00:01:50.879
We'll be going to the Baltic Corner, Critters and Crooks.
47
00:01:51.540 --> 00:01:54.659
We're also going to Buffalo Trading Post up north there
48
00:01:54.700 --> 00:01:58.439
on Highway 19. There'll be the South Bar in Hartford,
49
00:01:58.459 --> 00:02:01.180
and we're also going to be traveling to Big J's
50
00:02:01.219 --> 00:02:02.400
Roadhouse in Humboldt.
51
00:02:02.859 --> 00:02:04.519
So you're going to be out and about quite a bit.
52
00:02:04.659 --> 00:02:06.939
And again, that is the end of November. So it
53
00:02:07.000 --> 00:02:08.870
could be kind of chilly at that point, couldn't it?
54
00:02:09.099 --> 00:02:11.120
Yeah, it's a great time to get your side-by-sides out.
55
00:02:11.159 --> 00:02:12.919
Those are a wonderful thing to ride in. You can
56
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:15.180
bring any vehicle you'd like, depending on the weather. And
57
00:02:15.219 --> 00:02:17.479
we also have a party bus available that is free
58
00:02:17.520 --> 00:02:20.500
to ride on. We're just encouraged taking care of the driver.
59
00:02:20.719 --> 00:02:21.219
There you go.
60
00:02:21.340 --> 00:02:23.560
The Why Not Express is donated this time.
61
00:02:23.900 --> 00:02:26.060
I think that is fantastic. And that's a good way
62
00:02:26.099 --> 00:02:27.560
to do it, too. So if you do want to
63
00:02:27.620 --> 00:02:29.719
partake and have a drink from time to time at
64
00:02:29.780 --> 00:02:32.330
one of those stops, jump on the party bus, make
65
00:02:32.349 --> 00:02:33.830
sure you do it the safe way. That's a really,
66
00:02:33.870 --> 00:02:36.689
really good idea. And again, let's talk about Midwest Honor Flight.
67
00:02:36.710 --> 00:02:39.210
This is an amazing organization that does great things. How
68
00:02:39.250 --> 00:02:40.870
long have you been with this group and how long
69
00:02:40.889 --> 00:02:42.909
have you been working to help raise funds for this?
70
00:02:43.389 --> 00:02:46.270
Well, I've been supporting Midwest Honor Flight for four years now.
71
00:02:46.310 --> 00:02:48.069
I actually got involved with it because I was a
72
00:02:48.069 --> 00:02:50.599
guardian for my father. He was a Vietnam era veteran
73
00:02:50.659 --> 00:02:52.680
and he was selected to go on an Honor Flight,
74
00:02:52.719 --> 00:02:56.500
which once I got to experience the whole that they
75
00:02:56.509 --> 00:02:58.919
provide for these veterans. I really wanted to get involved
76
00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:01.659
and raise money for them. And Pilot Mike himself, he
77
00:03:01.699 --> 00:03:04.159
wanted to get involved. So we made an agreement. Now
78
00:03:04.199 --> 00:03:06.539
we throw a big fundraiser every year for them.
79
00:03:06.819 --> 00:03:08.699
I love that. And once you get to know what
80
00:03:08.719 --> 00:03:11.030
they are doing at Midwest Honor Flight, you can't help
81
00:03:11.090 --> 00:03:14.449
but love what they're doing. It's an amazing organization doing
82
00:03:14.509 --> 00:03:16.849
wonderful things. So a big thank you to Aaron and
83
00:03:16.969 --> 00:03:18.830
all of the people who helped. Because it's Aaron that's
84
00:03:18.870 --> 00:03:20.750
kind of the guy in charge. But he has said
85
00:03:20.810 --> 00:03:22.669
to me, if it was just me, we couldn't do
86
00:03:22.710 --> 00:03:24.189
any of it. It needs all of these people involved.
87
00:03:24.620 --> 00:03:27.039
It is a huge crowd of people that come out
88
00:03:27.060 --> 00:03:29.500
to help roll up their sleeves, whether they're raising money
89
00:03:29.560 --> 00:03:31.879
or actually going on the honor flight. It is team
90
00:03:31.939 --> 00:03:34.000
effort for sure, and hats off to all of them.
91
00:03:34.039 --> 00:03:35.460
It is an amazing group, isn't it?
92
00:03:35.719 --> 00:03:39.060
It is a very large undertaking. It does take quite
93
00:03:39.099 --> 00:03:40.860
a few people to be able to handle this and
94
00:03:40.979 --> 00:03:42.780
bring the experience to these veterans that they deserve.
95
00:03:43.629 --> 00:03:45.969
Again, the way you can help, come out to the
96
00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:51.419
fourth annual Poker Run. Again, it is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
97
00:03:51.479 --> 00:03:55.219
So it's right after Thanksgiving, Saturday, November 28th. And again,
98
00:03:55.300 --> 00:03:57.360
this is something that even if you're not going to
99
00:03:57.379 --> 00:03:59.090
ride a motorcycle, you can go through in a car.
100
00:03:59.150 --> 00:04:01.189
That's okay. You can go through in whatever or jump
101
00:04:01.270 --> 00:04:02.810
on the party bus. I think that sounds like a
102
00:04:02.830 --> 00:04:03.870
really good option, by the way.
103
00:04:04.310 --> 00:04:06.770
Yes, sir, it is. And tickets are always available. You
104
00:04:06.789 --> 00:04:09.310
can find our Facebook page, Ride for Midwest Honor Flight.
105
00:04:09.729 --> 00:04:13.409
We also have them available at Pilot Mike's Roadhouse, Octane Inc.
106
00:04:13.460 --> 00:04:15.860
that donated the wrap. We have them available at Vernity
107
00:04:15.900 --> 00:04:19.240
Motoplex at the park counter and at Prairie Wind Trailers.
108
00:04:19.600 --> 00:04:22.160
Very nice. Again, Pilot Mike's Roadhouse is where this will
109
00:04:22.199 --> 00:04:24.319
be happening. And all of the details are on Facebook.
110
00:04:24.699 --> 00:04:26.300
I've got a link to make it really easy to
111
00:04:26.339 --> 00:04:28.620
find on our Facebook page as well. Thank you again
112
00:04:28.639 --> 00:04:30.079
for your time today. I appreciate it, sir.
113
00:04:30.519 --> 00:04:30.899
Thank you.
114
00:04:31.300 --> 00:04:34.540
Again, Saturday, November 28th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., fourth
115
00:04:34.699 --> 00:04:37.569
annual Midwest Honor Flight Poker Run. I've got all the details.
116
00:04:37.930 --> 00:04:40.089
I've got a link to the event that's on Facebook,
117
00:04:40.129 --> 00:04:44.430
and you can find that at facebook.com slash sunnyradio and facebook.com
118
00:04:44.509 --> 00:04:45.850
slash Sioux Falls News.
119
00:04:45.870 --> 00:04:47.350

00:02:01.219 --> 00:02:02.400
Roadhouse in Humboldt.
51
00:02:02.859 --> 00:02:04.519
So you're going to be out and about quite a bit.
52
00:02:04.659 --> 00:02:06.939
And again, that is the end of November. So it
53
00:02:07.000 --> 00:02:08.870
could be kind of chilly at that point, couldn't it?
54
00:02:09.099 --> 00:02:11.120
Yeah, it's a great time to get your side-by-sides out.
55
00:02:11.159 --> 00:02:12.919
Those are a wonderful thing to ride in. You can
56
00:02:12.960 --> 00:02:15.180
bring any vehicle you'd like, depending on the weather. And
57
00:02:15.219 --> 00:02:17.479
we also have a party bus available that is free
58
00:02:17.520 --> 00:02:20.500
to ride on. We're just encouraged taking care of the driver.
59
00:02:20.719 --> 00:02:21.219
There you go.
60
00:02:21.340 --> 00:02:23.560
The Why Not Express is donated this time.
61
00:02:23.900 --> 00:02:26.060
I think that is fantastic. And that's a good way
62
00:02:26.099 --> 00:02:27.560
to do it, too. So if you do want to
63
00:02:27.620 --> 00:02:29.719
partake and have a drink from time to time at
64
00:02:29.780 --> 00:02:32.330
one of those stops, jump on the party bus, make
65
00:02:32.349 --> 00:02:33.830
sure you do it the safe way. That's a really,
66
00:02:33.870 --> 00:02:36.689
really good idea. And again, let's talk about Midwest Honor Flight.
67
00:02:36.710 --> 00:02:39.210
This is an amazing organization that does great things. How
68
00:02:39.250 --> 00:02:40.870
long have you been with this group and how long
69
00:02:40.889 --> 00:02:42.909
have you been working to help raise funds for this?
70
00:02:43.389 --> 00:02:46.270
Well, I've been supporting Midwest Honor Flight for four years now.
71
00:02:46.310 --> 00:02:48.069
I actually got involved with it because I was a
72
00:02:48.069 --> 00:02:50.599
guardian for my father. He was a Vietnam era veteran
73
00:02:50.659 --> 00:02:52.680
and he was selected to go on an Honor Flight,
74
00:02:52.719 --> 00:02:56.500
which once I got to experience the whole that they
75
00:02:56.509 --> 00:02:58.919
provide for these veterans. I really wanted to get involved
76
00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:01.659
and raise money for them. And Pilot Mike himself, he
77
00:03:01.699 --> 00:03:04.159
wanted to get involved. So we made an agreement. Now
78
00:03:04.199 --> 00:03:06.539
we throw a big fundraiser every year for them.
79
00:03:06.819 --> 00:03:08.699
I love that. And once you get to know what
80
00:03:08.719 --> 00:03:11.030
they are doing at Midwest Honor Flight, you can't help
81
00:03:11.090 --> 00:03:14.449
but love what they're doing. It's an amazing organization doing
82
00:03:14.509 --> 00:03:16.849
wonderful things. So a big thank you to Aaron and
83
00:03:16.969 --> 00:03:18.830
all of the people who helped. Because it's Aaron that's
84
00:03:18.870 --> 00:03:20.750
kind of the guy in charge. But he has said
85
00:03:20.810 --> 00:03:22.669
to me, if it was just me, we couldn't do
86
00:03:22.710 --> 00:03:24.189
any of it. It needs all of these people involved.
87
00:03:24.620 --> 00:03:27.039
It is a huge crowd of people that come out
88
00:03:27.060 --> 00:03:29.500
to help roll up their sleeves, whether they're raising money
89
00:03:29.560 --> 00:03:31.879
or actually going on the honor flight. It is team
90
00:03:31.939 --> 00:03:34.000
effort for sure, and hats off to all of them.
91
00:03:34.039 --> 00:03:35.460
It is an amazing group, isn't it?
92
00:03:35.719 --> 00:03:39.060
It is a very large undertaking. It does take quite
93
00:03:39.099 --> 00:03:40.860
a few people to be able to handle this and
94
00:03:40.979 --> 00:03:42.780
bring the experience to these veterans that they deserve.
95
00:03:43.629 --> 00:03:45.969
Again, the way you can help, come out to the
96
00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:51.419
fourth annual Poker Run. Again, it is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
97
00:03:51.479 --> 00:03:55.219
So it's right after Thanksgiving, Saturday, November 28th. And again,
98
00:03:55.300 --> 00:03:57.360
this is something that even if you're not going to
99
00:03:57.379 --> 00:03:59.090
ride a motorcycle, you can go through in a car.
100
00:03:59.150 --> 00:04:01.189
That's okay. You can go through in whatever or jump
101
00:04:01.270 --> 00:04:02.810
on the party bus. I think that sounds like a
102
00:04:02.830 --> 00:04:03.870
really good option, by the way.
103
00:04:04.310 --> 00:04:06.770
Yes, sir, it is. And tickets are always available. You
104
00:04:06.789 --> 00:04:09.310
can find our Facebook page, Ride for Midwest Honor Flight.
105
00:04:09.729 --> 00:04:13.409
We also have them available at Pilot Mike's Roadhouse, Octane Inc.
106
00:04:13.460 --> 00:04:15.860
that donated the wrap. We have them available at Vernity
107
00:04:15.900 --> 00:04:19.240
Motoplex at the park counter and at Prairie Wind Trailers.
108
00:04:19.600 --> 00:04:22.160
Very nice. Again, Pilot Mike's Roadhouse is where this will
109
00:04:22.199 --> 00:04:24.319
be happening. And all of the details are on Facebook.
110
00:04:24.699 --> 00:04:26.300
I've got a link to make it really easy to
111
00:04:26.339 --> 00:04:28.620
find on our Facebook page as well. Thank you again
112
00:04:28.639 --> 00:04:30.079
for your time today. I appreciate it, sir.
113
00:04:30.519 --> 00:04:30.899
Thank you.
114
00:04:31.300 --> 00:04:34.540
Again, Saturday, November 28th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., fourth
115
00:04:34.699 --> 00:04:37.569
annual Midwest Honor Flight Poker Run. I've got all the details.
116
00:04:37.930 --> 00:04:40.089
I've got a link to the event that's on Facebook,
117
00:04:40.129 --> 00:04:44.430
and you can find that at facebook.com slash sunnyradio and facebook.com
118
00:04:44.509 --> 00:04:45.850
slash Sioux Falls News.
119
00:04:45.870 --> 00:04:47.350
Something you should know.
