ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Married At First Sight UK has been rocked by shocking allegations of rape and sexual assault — allegations so serious that Channel 4 has now pulled every season of the show from streaming platforms entirely.
In today’s episode, we’re unpacking everything you need to know about the explosive scandal, including the disturbing claims made in the BBC's Panorama documentary The Dark Side of Married At First Sight, the allegations being levelled against the network and production company, the police response, the fallout already unfolding behind the scenes, and what this could mean for the future of the franchise.
We also dive into the wider questions now being raised about reality TV duty of care, contestant welfare and whether the pursuit of ratings, virality and profit has started overshadowing participant safety.
And given the similarities between the UK and Australian franchises, many viewers and former contestants are already questioning whether this could have major implications for MAFS Australia too...
Trigger Warning: This episode discusses allegations of sexual misconduct. These matters may be distressing for some listeners. Listener discretion is advised. Support is available at 1800Respect.
