ABOUT THIS EPISODE
He reported that he had too few men, and there was a written record to prove it. The raiders came anyway, and he was flogged for it. Ten years later, nearly five years into a war, his own government arrested the commander of its southern fleets. 🌊
Tonight's story is Yi Sun-sin. People call what happened to him a betrayal, and it was. But the part I keep coming back to is small. The day he walked out of prison, his diary began the way it nearly always did, with the weather. Clear. Doing everything right did not save him. He kept doing the next right thing anyway, and why he did is quieter than the legends, and harder. 🌙
