📖 Why does theology matter, and where do you even begin?
In this episode of Skeptics & Saints, Nolan and Skyler dive into Acts 17 and the example of the Bereans, people who eagerly listened, asked questions, and searched the Scriptures for themselves to see if what they were hearing was actually true.
We live in a culture overflowing with information but starving for depth. Biblical literacy is declining, short-form content dominates our attention, and many Christians struggle to explain what they actually believe. But Christianity was never meant to be intellectually shallow. God calls us to love Him with our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
We talk about why studying theology is an act of worship, how Scripture transforms the way we think, why Christians shouldn’t be afraid of difficult questions, and how ordinary believers can begin going deeper without needing a seminary degree.
☕ And because apparently theology requires coffee, we also share some of our favorite books, Bible teachers, theologians, and resources for anyone wondering where to start.
💡 In this episode:
- What theology actually means
- Why the Bereans were called “noble”
- Why Christians should search the Scriptures for themselves
- How theology can become an act of worship
- The difference between general and special revelation
- Why Scripture memory still matters
- How biblical illiteracy affects the Church
- Why studying Scripture strengthens your mind and your faith
- Theology questions worth exploring, from the Trinity to the return of Jesus
- Books and Bible teachers to help you go deeper
- Why you don’t need to be an academic to become theologically serious
Whether you’re a lifelong Christian, a theology nerd, or a skeptic trying to figure out whether Christianity actually has intellectual substance, this conversation is an invitation to dig deeper.
📖 Open your Bible. Ask difficult questions. Search the Scriptures. Learn to love God with your mind.
