ABOUT THIS EPISODE
AEW has an embarrassment of riches. An extraordinary roster, compelling rivalries, and more stories than it can possibly fit into two hours of Dynamite. So why are the women still struggling to get meaningful television time?
This week on Sit Down Shut Up Mark Out, Blade Daily flies solo for a special pre-recorded episode, breaking from the usual format to talk about everything happening in AEW following WrestleDream.
Jay White makes a statement alongside the Bang Bang Gang and The Dogs, the Don Callis Family establishes itself as a dominant force, and Steven Borden enters the Blood & Guts picture. Meanwhile, Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page renew their violent rivalry, Ilja Dragunov makes his AEW debut, and Nick Wayne continues making Chris Jericho's life miserable.
Blade also discusses Queen Aminata's TBS Championship opportunity and the intriguing confrontation between Mercedes Moné and Marina Shafir.
But the biggest question comes from something Dynamite didn't deliver: meaningful time for its women's division.
One women's match on a two-and-a-half-hour show.
Does AEW really need a three-hour Dynamite to accommodate its enormous roster? Or is the problem less about available television time and more about booking priorities?
It's a different kind of SDSUMO this week: one host, plenty of opinions, and a bigger conversation about what AEW gets right, what it gets wrong, and how it can make better use of the incredible talent it already has.
We love, we laugh, we babble.
