ABOUT THIS EPISODE
What if the reactions you’re struggling with today are patterns your nervous system learned to protect you in the past?
In this vulnerable solo episode of Sincerely, Self Podcast, I’m getting honest about my mental health, my recent struggles with emotional regulation, and my journey toward understanding my nervous system on a deeper level.
We often judge ourselves for being reactive, shutting down during conflict, running away from uncomfortable conversations, or putting everyone else’s needs before our own. But what if these responses aren’t signs that we’re broken? What if they’re protective patterns we learned long before we understood what was happening?
In this episode, we’re breaking down the four common nervous system responses: fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. I’ll walk you through the thoughts, physical sensations, and behaviors associated with each response, how these patterns can show up in our relationships, and practical ways to begin regulating your nervous system when you feel triggered or overwhelmed.
We’ll also talk about the importance of self-compassion, reparenting your inner child, changing the way you speak to yourself, and taking responsibility for healing the patterns that no longer serve you. Because while our past experiences may help explain our reactions, we can learn new ways to respond.
A reminder to take with you: You are not broken because you developed ways to protect yourself. You can honor the version of you who survived while learning to become the version of you who feels safe, supported, and grounded.
If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who needs the reminder, leave a review, and follow Sincerely, Self Podcast for more conversations about self-love, emotional healing, and becoming the most authentic version of yourself.
With love,
Lexi 🤍
