ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Can a pastor or ministry leader be faithful without being available 24/7? On this episode of The Shepherding Time podcast, Joe Keller and Rush Witt talk with Dr. Lisa LaGeorge, senior director of the Children’s Hunger Fund Academy, about how she stewards her time when every text and Teams message demands an immediate answer.
Lisa shares what leading in a nonprofit taught her: she is a weak person, and her weaknesses are a workroom for God’s grace. Accepting her limits has been freeing, because a sovereign God means she can plan to be available when she needs to be without being available all the time. She admits she always overestimates what she can get done in a day, whether that means words written or evening meetings stacked back to back, and explains how she manages it. She keeps a committee of her mom, her boss, and her pastor, and she brings every new yes to them before she gives it. She also explains why deep work sometimes means changing where she works, and why she refuses to control her schedule just to stay comfortable. Lisa closes by talking about her new book, Single Together, which encourages singles to steward their lives and invites churches to delight in the single people among them.
