ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Aren't you just Unitarians who like to play dress up?
Topic- Anglican Identity & Jesus/Trinity
Podcast Episode 2 or Chapter 4, faith (pg. 80)
Guest: Kyle Oliver is head of learning media at Learning Forte and creator of the religious education documentary podcast, Becoming Tapestry. He lives in Chicagoland with his wife, Kristin Saylor, and daughter, Fiona, who are teaching him about gardening and mermaids, respectively.
Perhaps you know almost nothing about the Episcopal Church, except maybe that's the royal wedding preacher's church. Or something to the effect of being wish- washy or Catholic-lite (we are not, but the phrase keeps on going). The Episcopal Church is a part of the Anglican Communion, and wholly Trinitarian. In this beautiful conversation we focus on four important responses.
We are rooted in the Creeds (Apostles, Nicene and Athanasian), the ancient statements of faith that we pray through and wonder with daily. The Holy Trinity is a story of a name, of God's name, and it is how we both know and address God. The practices of outlined prayer and bodily intention shape what we know and trust, and how we interact with the world. This tradition has boundedness, but it is a space within which to experiment and evolve.
