ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome back to another episode of the Rick’s Rambles Podcast! This week, we’re taking a fun and meaningful journey from classic television and music history to one of the most important issues happening right here in Indiana.
We kick things off with 10 fun facts about Kolchak: The Night Stalker, the classic 1970s TV series that has gone on to become a cult favorite and an important influence on later supernatural and investigative television. If you’re a fan of Kolchak, classic TV, Darren McGavin, or strange and unusual television history, you’ll want to hear this one!
Then we turn to a much more serious subject: the massive flooding in Southeast Indiana. In what is usually our mental health segment, we’re talking about the emotional impact of disasters and, more importantly, how we can actually help after a flood. We’ll look at why well-intentioned volunteers can sometimes get in the way, how to find legitimate opportunities to help, and why supporting the needs identified by local communities is often the best way to make a difference.
Next up is another installment of The Story Behind the Song, where we explore the history and meaning behind “Cracklin’ Rosie” by Neil Diamond. We’ll take a look at where the song came from, how it fits into Neil Diamond’s career, and the story behind this memorable 1970 hit.
And, as always, we wrap up the week with our Fun and Quirky Holidays, celebrating some of the wonderfully strange and entertaining unofficial holidays you may not even know exist!
Whether you’re discovering Rick’s Rambles for the first time or you’ve been listening for a while, this episode has a little bit of everything: classic television, music history, disaster relief, mental health, Indiana community news, and plenty of fun and quirky facts.
