ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome back to Remastered, the podcast where we uncover the stories and strategies behind transformative innovation. In this episode we’re diving into an inspiring conversation with Dr. Tom Waller, Senior Vice President of Innovation and Design at Decathlon, and a leading voice in human-centric innovation. Dr. Waller challenges us to think differently about what it means to innovate, from deeply understanding the human-machine interface to separating brand identity from operational models. He shares insights into how Decathlon is uniquely positioned to embrace the democratization of sport—making intentional movement and well-being accessible to everyone.
We explore ideas such as:
- How the human experience drives innovation beyond basic design thinking.
- Why businesses must differentiate between a brand’s elasticity and the fluidity of its operating model.
- And opportunities to lead in a world where sport is evolving into a daily act of health, not just elite competition.
Dr. Waller also emphasizes the importance of asking the right questions, embracing discomfort, and going beyond surface-level responses to truly understand customer needs. His approach offers a practical and philosophical roadmap for businesses looking to create meaningful impact through innovation. Whether you’re a strategist, innovator, or sports enthusiast, this conversation will leave you rethinking what’s possible.
