It's a podcast equivalent of opening the best Little Black Book of Contacts ever. If this resonates with you and you're ready to step outside of your comfort zone and into your power zone, I invite you to join my exclusive community via our website for Powerful dash Steps dot com. Today's Powerful Stories guest is my fierce and fabulous friend, Hillary Deceiza. We have joined forces to create global impact for female entrepreneurs through a partnership called her World International. The idea being We're creating a platform and a membership class, a series of events to bring women together to connect and collaborate through the power of human connection. Our first event will be in Santa Monica this year the fifth to the seventeenth of October, and in the lead up to that, I'm actually creating a series of powerful insights with Hillary so that you can step up and own your Power. Welcome, Hillary Ory.
00:01:12
Speaker 2: This is so exciting. It's almost like we have you know, it is the launching pad. You know, my company is Relaunch and we've got this launching pad to such an incredible future for where women in business entrepreneurship are going. And I couldn't be more.
00:01:32
Speaker 3: Thrilled to be doing this with you.
00:01:34
Speaker 1: You know what, I'm so excited because the merging of communities is actually something I'm very passionate about. But I'm also really keen to give our audience an insight into why I partnered with you. You're an extraordinary entrepreneur and you've also been at the top of your game in corporate Would you like to give us a little bit of an insight and background as to where your career started and how you landed today.
00:01:59
Speaker 2: Absolutely so. Where I started was in Silicon Valley. It was high tech giant Oracle. I was there almost ten years and that's where I created my true passion for technology. And as we advance now into AI, You're going to see how this all naturally flowed for me and how it flows for our clients and the significance behind that. We can never stand still. We are constantly growing evolving and moving into the future of where our business is going. It's never where we are right now thinking about this is the this is the end all of the business. We're always looking six to twelve months if not more ahead, where do we want to go right that north star? And so in doing just that, after I had had you know, I had three young kids, and I decided, you know what, it's time to really venture out in to entrepreneurship. And I got a pretty incredible opportunity that was given to me literally a few weeks after my third daughter was born, and it was one of those where the president of Oracle had just gone over to Kleiner Perkins, which is one of the largest venture capital firms in the world, and he called me up and said, Hillary, I want you to come over and I want you to work with our executive teams, our portfolio companies and help them put a framework around growth scaling and don't let it be just what they're used to, which is this small world that people get themselves caught up to with being only in their local area, right Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley. Instead, let's really think about it from a global perspective, and that's where it opened my eyes to understanding how much the Internet was going to be able to change the way we were delivering our content, the way we were advancing our content. And so I began with a company that was called white Space, Inc. Ink. The idea on the premise was putting everything on a whiteboard that you think is relevant, erasing it all and saying, what are the only things you need to get from where you are right now to where you're going. Stop with all the and then there's this, and there's that, and there's all this stuff that we don't actually need. And so I started to create businesses with others at scale, and then I launched my own businesses and I went out. I raised almost almost ten million dollars for one of my company, and I got along the way I always knew I wanted to continue to coach not just men, but women. And I had this great desire that things were having to us women that weren't necessarily happening to the men. And I started to take note of that. And it wasn't just having children or being in a family dynamic. It was so much more tory. It was how were we raising money in a man's world? How are we trying to, you know, literally break through the glass ceiling. And it's when I started to have multiple of what I call relaunches, these transitions that I realized that there was definitely going to need to have There's going to have to be a change up. And you and I often talk about this heart centered. Well, during the time when I was really in corporate, it was very much head based. Everything was you know, what's the procedure, what are the steps, what are the systems? And it was a to Z and step one to ten. And it was interesting because what I was seeing was, well, why aren't all these companies that I'm working with, if they're following the process, they're following the ten step process or whatever it was, why aren't they all successful. That's when I developed the concept that you and I, you know, you have our synergies are so incredible globally right your southern hemisphere, I'm Northern hemisphere. But that's when it all started to really come to fruition and it really became this how do you bring in the IQ and the EQ and mesh them and make them equally important. Cheryl Sandberg tried to do it with lean in and Unfortunately, you know, it didn't quite resonate, so something was missing. And I believe now what we're doing is that continuation through your powerful steps and my relaunch programs and three HQ hadheart highest self. That's what is truly unique and different, and that's where we're leading into.
00:07:03
Speaker 3: The next decade, which I absolutely love.
00:07:05
Speaker 1: And I just want to make her point here as well for our audience. You and I are very much about heart led leadership versus egos, and I think that's really important because on socials lately, you've been talking about a lot of success stories around people like you know, Vera Wayg who started her business in her forties.
00:07:26
Speaker 3: Right, can you give us.
00:07:28
Speaker 1: Us some examples about midlife entrepreneurship where people have really leaned into their heart but using the skill set that you know they've had through that corporate career path, just like you, but to actually step into their passion and make a difference in this world.
00:07:46
Speaker 2: So when we start talking about higher self, that best version of you, when you are really in your great zone, when you are flowing, when you feel connected to what you're doing, when it's not that huge, massive struggle and you're thinking, you know what how am I relevant in this world right now? With what I'm doing. I find so many women right now and I call it the mid zone. Right, Brene Brown says, midlife is thirty five until you're dead. Well, what we want to be able to do is capture the essence of a person and be able to say, whether it's going from corporate to what you're ultimately trying to do your legacy, how you're going to impact people, how you're going to grow, how you're going to level yourself up. Because toy, we have a tremendous amount of wisdom within us. Right We're not in our twenties and thirties anymore. Some of us are in fifties, even sixties and higher, and there's still so much more that we can give to the world that we want to give to the world. And as people start to realize that there's this, well I've never done it before, how do I really grow my business? Scale my business? If I'm not clear on the difference between Hey, I had this large P and L when I was in corporate and now I'm trying to figure out how do I how do I put together a really successful company and not feel like, oh my gosh, I'm I'm having to do everything from the beginning. This is where that leadership, that coaching, that coming together with people that have been there, done that. At this point, I don't think in ten year blocks anymore, right. I think a lot of women our age are thinking about it in Hey, what's what's my three year plan? Like I want to grow this and impact now. I don't want to have to be thinking of where am I going to be in ten years with this thing?
00:09:57
Speaker 1: Exactly?
00:10:00
Speaker 2: Sitting in a board meeting and it was all men, and I thought, you know what, I don't have anyone in this room who has my back, not one. And there were so many times that I wished that I had had my own, my own like hidden board of people I could go and truly count on that if I did say something and be vulnerable and ask like how should I do this in a better, faster, cheaper way to really get this thing moving faster, they weren't going to fire me for you know, incompetency, and why don't you know that I want to be able to with you bring together these top women so that somebody that's sitting right next to you, that's sitting across from you has already done it, and so to be able to say, hey, can we talk about this right now, and oh, by the way, I might have done something, you might have done something toy that could really help level them up as well. But it's having that you call it, you know, your your black book, your little black book, right, It's having this very curated group of professionals of people that are just like us, that have been successful, want to create more, want to be heartfelt leadership and are now saying you know what, I don't want to as we always hear, you know, think local. You know, we want to actually be thinking and acting globally by bringing together so that our audiences are not just on a local basis or even a very small niche basis. It's being able to capitalize and really leverage what each and every one of us has built.
00:11:50
Speaker 3: I love that.
00:11:51
Speaker 1: And one of the things that I just want to draw out more into these conversations is that you mentioned three years like women now all right, right, so we meet tier entrepreneurs and we have a lot of wisdom to give, but also if we can go on that journey for the next three years together, hold ourselves accountable with this whole world international that we're creating. It really allows the women that actually join us in Santa Monica to kick this off in October, the opportunity to tap into this global network and knowledge that we all want to give, because I do feel that once you've had that success and survival piece, not only in business but personally as well, you want to pay for the knowledge.
00:12:37
Speaker 3: And I also believe that when you're a solo.
00:12:39
Speaker 1: Entrepreneur it is so expensive to hire agencies you know, and hold those agencies accountable and actually get those results because it's not like you have the corporate spend.
00:12:52
Speaker 3: It's your own money that you're spending.
00:12:55
Speaker 1: So why not tap into the forty women that we're going to have in the room with us for three days in Santa Monica who have been there, who have that wisdom, who have that knowledge, but they're willing to pay it.
00:13:06
Speaker 3: Forward and ask each other what can I give? But what would I like to receive?
00:13:12
Speaker 2: Absolutely? Can I tell you? When people listen to us, I think the question that they should be asking is do you have a resonance of energy towards Tory and myself? Because when we came together, I was on your podcast. You were on my podcast and we were just like It wasn't necessarily like minded. We came from different backgrounds, but we had similar approaches. It's the like energy that became so significant when you start to put that together with other women of the same that law of resonance, what resonates with us and success and where we're going. It's one of those that we are not going there alone. We are going with the whole group. And when one is successful, we're all successful. And with when one is starting to, you know, kind of go off and we got to pull her back up. This is going to be a very intimate group. And it goes back to you got to feel it right. You got to have that heart, You got to have that connection, not just it's not about like just oh, here's yet another course, here's yet another you know, list of things you need to do. It's Tory. You are so amazing at networking, at connecting. You have your your coffee chats that you bring together people. And yet you got it. I mean, she came on right away and I've got mine. I had to How could I not have marke what I want to call with you? And when you start to think about that if we can be the facilitators by knowing these women as well as we're going to before this even starts understanding what they're looking for. You and I've talked about this with what we have, and we have podcasts and we have TV shows, and we have books, and we have courses and we have have all this stuff. But what we want to be able to do is say, all right, here's our repository, here's our vault, here's all the things that the two of us have. Now let's put everyone else's and let's see how we can cross polony collaborate. You know, you often talk about this idea of you know, you go into an event and you get all psyched up, and I still have to I laugh about this when I went to the Oprah Winfrey event a few years ago, right before COVID actually, and at the end, I was all charged up. I'm like, yes, oh my god, I'm ready to do this. We're going to take it to the next level. And I got to my car and she had given out led bracelets and it was going off about every hour, and about twelve hours later it stopped going off, and I was just like one of those moments of I'm alone again. Yeah, I'm alone again in this very lonely world of entrepreneurship. And I'm like, what the heck? And then I got home. And then about three days later, AAARP sent me like, you went to Oprah's event. You should join our our group and I'm like, what that is so not what I want to do. I want to join in a very intimate group. I want to be able to say, you know what I feel like. This month is the month that I want to be visible, not invisible in my business. You know who can help me? And I want people to raise their hands and say, you know what, be on my show, be on my you know my podcast, do this, do that, Let's collaborate. You want to have a workshop together, Let's do it. That's what you and I are really creating with her World International we are and I.
00:17:09
Speaker 1: Think that a lot of people do go to those events and they walk away and of course they get the golden nuggets, but they don't have that sense of community. And I just want to highlight here as well that because people will be flying in from all around the world to lean and grow and collaborate with us, we will actually have a membership app so that you can actively continue those conversations, and I think that's really important, and especially from people coming from you know, far flung places around the world to be with us in Santa Monica. It's important to know that you know you're in the a virtual coffee date away and you can continue to create the magic. But also to make sure, and this is so important, that you've got that three year runway and I really want to make that clean Hillary that next year we will be doing events again in the United State and then we will be bringing it to Australia. So it's not that you're just going to be in the room with these people once you have the opportunity to have that growth for the next three years, which.
00:18:10
Speaker 3: Really is all about like midlife entrepreneurship.
00:18:13
Speaker 1: Which is a great way to end these podcasts with one single bit of advice that you would like to give to the women that a considering joining us in October Thesia.
00:18:24
Speaker 2: Ooh okay, So first off, I'm sure everyone out there has been to these events that feel perhaps a little bit younger than what we're experiencing right now, and this is really a very holistic approach. It's I love the idea of you are a direct reflection of your business, and your business is a direct reflection of you. So let's be in a room with women that have the same needs, concerns, interests that we do, and let's grab a hole. Let's create that inner circle, and let's have the ability that when you come to this event in Santa Monica, you know, at a minimum, you are going to walk away with women that will be able to help you in your business and elevate your own life. That is so huge and different than any other event out there. That is our mission is to really make you feel like, you know what, you are the most relevant relevant being right now than you've ever been in your entire life. And we want to make you just explode onto your business environment your personal environment because they are one and the same.
00:19:55
Speaker 1: Absolutely, And I would like to say check out our Socials International for.
00:20:01
Speaker 3: More details and of course.
00:20:03
Speaker 1: The website there will be a VIP option and just if you want to be in the room, there is another option for you to join us there as well. So thank you so much for coming on the podcast today, Hillary, and of course I cannot wait to see you again in a couple of months time. We'll be finalizing the event doing a photo shoot together.
00:20:23
Speaker 2: Look out world, So you're a green feather jacket and my pink one together for the first time. Yes, it is true.
00:20:32
Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it.
00:20:35
Speaker 1: Thank you so much for gifting us your time, energy, and wisdom today. Thanks thank you for being here with me today. I trust that you enjoyed listening to yet another powerful story. Sometimes we can forget just how incredible we are as women and how important it is to support each other. I'd love for you to take a moment to review the podcast and help support the show.
