ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Traditional media has been replaced by social media. Journalists, news anchors and reporters are now competing with influencers and Creators -- the new journalists -- who are delivering news and current events in a quicker, more responsive, and more authentic way than traditional news and media outlets. So what does this mean for accuracy and the truth in an increasingly fake news world? If everyone can share their POV on news stories instantly, how can we differentiate fact from opinion?
Our hosts Crystal Echo Hawk and Charlene Polite-Corley are joined by Akilah Hughes / akilahh , Jennifer Bendery / jenbend , Caty Borum / catyborum , and comedian Corey Ryan Forrester / coreyrforrester to discuss the roles of legacy media, traditional journalism, and social media in the new Information Age. Through thoughtful discussion, insightful humor, and authentic personal stories, we'll unpack the battle between legacy media and new media, the fragmentation of information and news, and how we can survive and thrive in a world where information overload is the new business standard.
