Speaker 1: All right, F.P. Santangelo, John Miller. It's postgame wrap time. Giants lose 8-2. It was a good ballgame through seven innings, a 3-2 ballgame, but Giants just couldn't overcome the Dodgers' firepower with four home runs in the eighth inning.
00:00:16
Speaker 2: And the Dodgers are capable of doing that kind of a thing at any time, although it was especially potent in that one inning to have two different duos go back-to-back. I'm going to be a little hard-pressed to remember seeing that happen twice in the same inning by a team. I did do a game at Fenway Park years ago where the Boston Red Sox hit four consecutive home runs. And another game at Fenway Park with the ESPN Sunday Night National Telecast where the Red Sox were down 3-0 to the Yankees. And then the Red Sox hit four consecutive home runs in that game against a rookie Yankee pitcher. So I've seen that, which is pretty impressive any time there's four straight. But two different groupings of back-to-back homers in the same inning. And it was, I kind of feel bad for Phillip Abner.
00:01:16
Speaker 1: It was 1,610 feet of home run by my math. So five home runs by the Dodgers. We've got to hustle because there's a drone show and the Giants buses are leaving quick. So we'll have our picks right after this. All right, time for our picks. Before we do the picks, though, Bryce Eldridge was a late scratch with a head laceration today. We just got an update from the Giants' wonderful PR team. He hit his head on a low-hanging doorframe at the hotel, so they were just being overly cautious with him tonight and removed him from the lineup. I guess that's what happens when you're 6'7, John.
00:01:50
Speaker 2: It's nothing that's ever really been a problem for us personally, but.
00:01:57
Speaker 2: But for a guy 6'7. So hopefully he's okay, and we'll be back in there tomorrow. But kind of a downer right at the beginning. He's been so hot. The Giants, the guy, and especially now with Devers out, they were making a pretty great duo for the Giants for a while. So anyway, hopefully he's okay, and he'll be back in there tomorrow.
00:02:18
Speaker 1: All right, it's time for your picks. You go first, John.
00:02:20
Speaker 2: I'm going to Jonah Cox. He got the hit to put him ahead to... And another night, maybe that would have been a hit that put him ahead to stay. So he's been going great. And so Cox also. For a while, I thought he might even catch that second home run by Mookie Betts. Didn't give up on it, that's for sure. And so Jonah Cox, second base, turned a nice double play earlier, then ended up in center field later.
00:02:47
Speaker 1: Put him anywhere. He's a game changer. Good pick. All right, I'll go with Carson Seymour. He came in in the 7th. Struck out Teoscar Hernandez. Might be the hottest hitter on the planet right now.
00:02:55
Speaker 2: And Freddie Freeman.
00:02:56
Speaker 1: So he just went after the guys. And he did a nice job on the bullpen. These are debuts for these guys right now for next year. So every inning you get is a big deal. So I'm taking Carson Seymour.
00:03:05
Speaker 2: Good call. And I think we should. Give a special mention to Cesar Perdomo against this meat grinder of a Dodger lineup, especially in their home ballpark. Perdomo did pretty well.
00:03:16
Speaker 1: Did a nice job. Went right after these guys. Just gave up the three runs. So a nice job for the two runs. Just a nice job for the young lefty. All right, time now for what's on deck. Sponsored by California dealers. California Ford dealers, I should say. Tarek Skrubel on the mound for the Dodgers tomorrow. Doesn't get any easier. He's 3-1 with a 2-4-5 in his last seven starts. He's been pitching pretty well.
00:03:38
Speaker 2: Tariq Scoble, what, they, if the guy won a Cy Young, he ends up with the Dodgers. They've got them all, that's for sure. Well, anxious to see him here tomorrow. That's one of the best in the game.
