00:00:00.040 --> 00:00:03.111
Welcome to the Positioned Podcast.
00:00:03.111 --> 00:00:15.390
I am your host, kimberly Knight, and today we're going to continue with our Don't Panic Prepare series, and our topic today is about building community for the next season.
00:00:15.390 --> 00:00:17.588
So hello, dear ones, welcome back.
00:00:17.588 --> 00:00:25.365
I'm so glad you're here today because we're going to be diving into something that I believe is absolutely critical for the next season that we're walking into Today.
00:00:25.365 --> 00:00:26.443
We're going to be diving into something that I believe is absolutely critical for the next season that we're walking into.
00:00:26.443 --> 00:00:31.847
Today we're going to talk about building community, and I want you to hear my heart on this.
00:00:31.847 --> 00:00:37.000
This isn't about having nice friendships or you know people to grab coffee with.
00:00:37.000 --> 00:00:45.375
I'm talking about the kind of intentional community building that can weather storms together, that can stand strong even when things feel uncertain.
00:00:45.375 --> 00:00:55.972
I've been sensing, and I've been sharing, that we are entering into a season where the body of Christ is going to need each other in ways we haven't experienced before.
00:00:55.972 --> 00:01:09.406
We are already seeing economic uncertainty, spiritual warfare is intensifying, cultural pressures are mounting, and I believe God is calling His people to prepare not in fear, but in faith and wisdom.
00:01:09.406 --> 00:01:18.460
So let's talk about how to build the kind of community that doesn't just survive hard times, but thrives and becomes a beacon of hope for others.
00:01:18.460 --> 00:01:24.632
So just take this moment to think about why community isn't just nice to have, but it's essential.
00:01:30.519 --> 00:01:32.227
I don't believe that God ever designed you to walk through life alone.
00:01:32.227 --> 00:01:37.587
If you remember, back in Genesis, when God was creating, he said everything was good until we got to the point that he said it was not good for man to be alone.
00:01:37.587 --> 00:01:39.840
And that's not just a scripture we use for marriage.
00:01:39.840 --> 00:01:44.067
That's just also a scripture about doing life together and staying connected to others and to God.
00:01:44.067 --> 00:01:47.594
Community is not about just having people around when things are good.
00:01:47.594 --> 00:01:53.040
It's about having people who can stand with you when everything else fails, when everything falls apart.
00:01:53.040 --> 00:02:03.813
The enemy of your soul wants you to be isolated, because isolated believers are vulnerable believers and when we're not connected in authentic community, then we become vulnerable.
00:02:03.813 --> 00:02:07.528
But when we are connected in community, we become exponentially stronger.
00:02:07.528 --> 00:02:12.870
I do believe that it is God's design for us to walk through the valleys and the mountaintops together.
00:02:13.753 --> 00:02:19.170
If you look back in Acts 2, it talks about the early church not just meeting for services, but they also did life together.
00:02:19.170 --> 00:02:25.425
They shared their resources, they prayed, they supported each other through hardship, and this wasn't just casual friendship.
00:02:25.425 --> 00:02:29.013
This was a covenant community that could function no matter what happened.
00:02:29.013 --> 00:02:33.207
So we want to position ourselves the same way.
00:02:33.207 --> 00:02:35.920
Jesus modeled his inner circle when things got intense.
00:02:35.920 --> 00:02:40.730
He didn't isolate, he didn't just run off into his prayer closet.
00:02:40.730 --> 00:02:47.008
Now, he was good for going into the prayer closet, but he was also gathering his supporters around him Even when he went into the garden.
00:02:47.008 --> 00:02:52.108
He didn't go alone, and I think it's God's heart for us to bear one another's burden.
00:02:52.108 --> 00:02:56.323
So let's start looking at this as being important during this season.
00:02:56.342 --> 00:03:02.985
I also want to say that now is a time to start building, because I'm sensing in my spirit that this is the time to start building connections.
00:03:02.985 --> 00:03:06.393
You don't wait until crisis hits to create your support system.
00:03:06.393 --> 00:03:11.132
It's like trying to dig a well and you're dying of thirst, or waiting to build the ark while it's raining.
00:03:11.132 --> 00:03:13.268
The glue is not going to stick because it's too humid.
00:03:13.268 --> 00:03:22.947
Now you need to be like the wise versions in Matthew 25, who prepared their oil before the bridegroom came and they didn't wait until the last minute.
00:03:22.947 --> 00:03:29.728
Or like Noah, who built the ark wait for it before it started raining and not afterwards.
00:03:29.728 --> 00:03:33.566
You also want to create networks that function during disruption.
00:03:33.566 --> 00:03:38.042
So we need to think beyond normal times and at this point I don't even know what's normal.
00:03:38.042 --> 00:03:38.784
We have a new normal.
00:03:38.985 --> 00:03:41.361
Start thinking about what kind of community do I need?
00:03:41.361 --> 00:03:45.801
What kind of support systems do I need if other systems disappear or are dysfunctional?
00:03:45.801 --> 00:03:51.830
What relationships do you want to have with people who share your values and your sense of prophetic preparation for this season?
00:03:51.830 --> 00:03:57.549
It also means creating communication systems that don't depend on everything working perfectly.
00:03:57.549 --> 00:03:58.893
Think about the early church again.
00:03:58.893 --> 00:04:00.300
They met in homes.
00:04:00.300 --> 00:04:07.829
They had networks that could function under extraordinary circumstances, and your community needs to be resilient and not just comfortable.
00:04:07.829 --> 00:04:09.069
These are not people you're.
00:04:09.069 --> 00:04:13.574
They had networks that could function under extraordinary circumstances, and your community needs to be resilient and not just comfortable.
00:04:13.574 --> 00:04:15.556
These are not people you're just going to go shopping at the mall with.
00:04:15.556 --> 00:04:18.139
These are people you really want to be able to do life with, even when life gets hard.
00:04:20.139 --> 00:04:23.420
The other thing I want you to think about is building this community now, because it's important to start building it now so that it has time to develop and grow.
00:04:23.420 --> 00:04:28.072
You have time to build trust and shared experiences before you need each other.
00:04:28.072 --> 00:04:40.632
That means approaching people that you may or may not normally approach, and you need to do so without sounding alarmist or paranoid and I know some of you are thinking how do I talk to people about this without sounding crazy?
00:04:40.632 --> 00:04:42.185
Right, I'm glad you asked.
00:04:42.185 --> 00:04:48.709
And here's the key Share your heart and your sense of what God is showing you, but let Holy Spirit do the convincing.
00:04:48.709 --> 00:04:55.944
You might say something like you know, I've been sensing something in the Spirit that we're entering into a season where we're going to need each other more.
00:04:55.944 --> 00:05:00.985
And would you be interested in praying about building a deeper community together, or something like that.
00:05:00.985 --> 00:05:03.271
You know, lead with love, not fear, not pressure.
00:05:03.271 --> 00:05:05.963
Let Holy Spirit do the convincing.
00:05:05.963 --> 00:05:07.569
If they say no, say thank you for considering.
00:05:07.569 --> 00:05:10.161
If you change your mind, holy Spirit speaks to you.
00:05:10.161 --> 00:05:13.908
Let me know the right people will have a witness in your spirit about what you're sharing.
00:05:14.108 --> 00:05:25.908
I can tell you that in these last few months, I have been meeting people and building a new community around myself that I normally wouldn't have, nor would I have been reaching out the way I have been.
00:05:25.908 --> 00:05:26.511
Why?
00:05:26.511 --> 00:05:30.565
Because I am sensing that this is the time and the season to build.
00:05:30.565 --> 00:05:36.648
Before we meet each other, let's start having relationship, and I'm not trying to convince anyone.
00:05:36.648 --> 00:05:40.894
I can tell you, everyone that I've met and I've approached has been sensing something similar.
00:05:40.894 --> 00:05:47.790
We just want to be faithful, to share with those who have the same thing on their heart, or who God puts on your heart, because it'll be speaking to that person too.
00:05:47.790 --> 00:05:51.185
It's the same spirit, it's the same Holy Spirit that would be speaking to that person.
00:05:51.286 --> 00:05:56.714
When you begin to build these relationships, I want you to focus on not just being a taker but also a giver.
00:05:56.714 --> 00:06:00.680
Community is about shared support, not about handouts and greediness.
00:06:00.680 --> 00:06:04.456
I think it's like in Galatians 6, it says to bear one another's burdens.
00:06:04.456 --> 00:06:07.084
That is mutual, it's not one-sided.
00:06:07.084 --> 00:06:14.232
So, as you're building this community, ask yourself what skills, what resources, what support can I offer?
00:06:14.232 --> 00:06:16.874
Not just what do I need, but what can I offer?
00:06:16.874 --> 00:06:23.295
Because true community is about everyone contributing what they can, everyone bringing what they have to the table.
00:06:23.516 --> 00:06:28.177
And if you're thinking only about what you can get, you're not ready for covenant relationships.
00:06:28.177 --> 00:06:33.485
You're not because that's not the way it looks, and that's the other thing I wanted to talk about again.
00:06:33.485 --> 00:06:36.752
I'm going to say this again this is not about just building.
00:06:36.752 --> 00:06:40.619
Hey, let's go do a Zumba class together.
00:06:40.619 --> 00:06:43.591
I mean you can do those things right, because that does help build relationship.
00:06:43.591 --> 00:06:48.036
But there's going to come a time that you may need this person for more than a Zumba class.
00:06:48.404 --> 00:06:50.713
Be the kind of person also that people can lean on.
00:06:50.713 --> 00:06:54.336
The Bible says that in order to have a friend, you must first show yourself friendly.
00:06:54.336 --> 00:07:02.882
Be that kind of person that people can lean on and that when God surrounds you with these people, they can depend on you, and that you are your word.
00:07:02.882 --> 00:07:08.177
Very important, also keeping in mind that these relationships are both practical and spiritual.
00:07:08.177 --> 00:07:20.548
They're practical and they're spiritual and if you know me at all, I'm very much about being practical, because sometimes my former bishop used to say we're so heaven-minded we're no earthly good.
00:07:20.548 --> 00:07:26.166
Your, your, your spiritual stuff also has to play out in your practical, natural actions.
00:07:26.166 --> 00:07:35.596
So your community that you're building and yourself that you're bringing to this community, you need to be able to function both on the spiritual and the practical level.
00:07:36.627 --> 00:07:51.848
So practically that might look like people having a different skill set, other than you do, and bringing different things to the table, and spiritually it may be about covering each other in prayer, intercession, encouraging each other in the word In Hebrews 10,.
00:07:51.848 --> 00:07:56.588
It says do not neglect the assembling of ourselves together, especially as we see the day approaching.
00:07:56.588 --> 00:07:59.295
My God oh, that's a whole message right there.
00:07:59.295 --> 00:08:04.252
The other thing that just dropped in my spirit is if you're going to encourage someone in the word, you need to know the word.
00:08:04.252 --> 00:08:08.675
Please let me say that again If you're going to encourage someone in the word, you need to know that word.
00:08:08.675 --> 00:08:27.798
So it is now time for you to start getting that word and hiding it in your heart and also communicating with people and building relationship with people who also are looking to build the word into their heart, into their spirit, and letting that pour out into their practical applications.
00:08:27.798 --> 00:08:33.335
How they treat people, how they interact with the world, their thought process they would bring to community.
00:08:33.335 --> 00:08:38.167
How they interact with the world, their thought process they would bring to community.
00:08:38.528 --> 00:08:46.735
Not only do you want people who will pray you through the spiritual battles, you also want people who are going to help you through the practical challenges, and I think I've said that, but I'm going to do a separate episode on preparing spiritually, so stay tuned for that.
00:08:46.735 --> 00:08:56.697
Be sure to check out the other episodes in this series, because I am going to be looking at making sure that we're well-rounded and that we're prepared as much as possible.
00:08:56.697 --> 00:09:02.418
Also, keep in mind that a prepared community can also be a witnessing tool.
00:09:02.418 --> 00:09:04.484
Not everybody's going to listen to these episodes.
00:09:04.484 --> 00:09:05.615
Not everyone is going to be ready.
00:09:05.615 --> 00:09:09.384
Some of you are going to listen and say okay, okay, okay, and still not prepare.
00:09:09.384 --> 00:09:10.535
I love you anyway.
00:09:10.535 --> 00:09:17.486
But when we're prepared and we're functioning in that role and in strong community, it becomes a powerful witness to the world.
00:09:17.486 --> 00:09:38.889
And when everything else is shaking around us, if we can be that beacon of stability and preparation and support and steady, and they see us walking these things out in practicality, it's going to be things that people want and I'm not talking about resources, I'm talking about the peace, the confidence of God.
00:09:38.889 --> 00:09:41.817
All those things are going to be very important moving forward.
00:09:44.222 --> 00:09:47.129
Let's see if there's anything else I wanted to share.
00:09:47.129 --> 00:09:55.794
Oh, I think I talked about it, but I just want to hit on it again about moving from the casual to the covenant.
00:09:55.794 --> 00:10:00.562
So there's a different depth of commitment when we start talking about that and casual friends are great for good times.
00:10:00.562 --> 00:10:16.659
But covenant is about a deeper depth of relationship and trust and it's about being able to depend on each other during hard times and being our word to our inner circle, and it means being honest about their expectations and your boundaries, and having those conversations on purpose.
00:10:16.659 --> 00:10:23.760
On purpose, so that you're able to be with each other no matter what comes All right.
00:10:23.760 --> 00:10:27.267
So thank you for listening to this episode.
00:10:27.388 --> 00:10:28.655
I want to leave you with this.
00:10:28.655 --> 00:10:32.868
Building community for the next season is not an option.
00:10:32.868 --> 00:10:45.023
This is essential, and it's going to start with you making a decision to move beyond the casual connections that you may have towards meaningful, purposeful relationships, and those take time.
00:10:45.023 --> 00:10:49.356
That is why I'm going to encourage you to start now.
00:10:49.356 --> 00:11:09.254
Start now, start small, ask God to show you who he is calling you to build community with in this next season, and then be the kind of friend you want to have, be willing to give as much as you hope to receive, and trust that, as you step out, god is going to be with you every step of the way.
00:11:09.254 --> 00:11:13.162
He promised to never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what lies ahead.
00:11:13.162 --> 00:11:15.044
So remember we don't panic.
00:11:15.044 --> 00:11:18.350
We prepare, and in this case, we're going to prepare together.
00:11:18.350 --> 00:11:22.371
So until next time, be blessed and stay positioned.
00:11:22.371 --> 00:11:23.255
Bye now.
