ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome to Point Zero One – Hosted by Allen Fu.
This podcast is about real stories, real strategies, and real results. No fluff—just insights from the best in the game.
What does it take to completely reinvent your life and build one of Australia's top mortgage businesses?
In this episode of the Point Zero One Podcast, we sit down with mortgage broker Joseph Daoud to unpack an incredible journey of discipline, resilience, and entrepreneurship.
Joseph opens up about leaving high school weighing 131kg, losing 51kg, competing in bodybuilding, becoming one of Australia's first Uber drivers while studying economics and mathematics, and eventually building a career at Macquarie Bank before launching his own mortgage broking business.
Today, Joseph specialises in helping self-employed Australians navigate complex lending policies, writing $249 million across 366 loans in a single year, with around 65% of his clients being business owners.
The conversation also dives into Australia's 2026 Federal Budget and why Joseph believes it unfairly penalises ambition, entrepreneurship, and small business. He shares the story behind his "Stop the Ambition Tax" campaign, placing billboards at Canberra Airport, and even spending $16,500 at a charity auction for the opportunity to speak directly with the Prime Minister about proposed reforms.
Whether you're self-employed, buying property, running a business, or simply looking for inspiration, this episode offers valuable insights into finance, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.
