Join us as we delve into the latest strategies and tactics for successful selling on the world's largest online marketplace.
00:00:17.920 --> 00:00:22.553
Hello everybody and welcome to Planet Amazon, where we talk about all things Amazon.
00:00:22.553 --> 00:00:25.629
I'm Adam Schafer and today we have a great guest.
00:00:25.629 --> 00:00:28.687
I want to welcome to the podcast, Hymie Zebede.
00:00:28.687 --> 00:00:31.942
Hey Adam, hey Hymie Zebede.
00:00:31.942 --> 00:00:33.485
Who is Hymie Zabidi, by the way?
00:00:33.485 --> 00:00:35.030
I'm sure everybody's asking.
00:00:35.030 --> 00:00:39.033
Well, Hymie has 12 years of experience creating and scaling brands on Amazon.
00:00:39.033 --> 00:00:47.003
com and has a proven track record of creating, launching individual listings that sell over $1 million a year.
00:00:47.003 --> 00:00:51.670
He has a top level understanding of the art and science of the Amazon.
00:00:51.670 --> 00:01:04.971
com algorithm, which I definitely want to know more about, and one of Hymie's big recent wins is taking a company from $3 million a year in sales to over $24 million a year in sales.
00:01:04.971 --> 00:01:06.802
So I definitely want to hear about that.
00:01:06.802 --> 00:01:09.530
Welcome to Planet Amazon, .
00:01:09.530 --> 00:01:14.963
Can you tell the audience a bit more about yourself and how you got into this crazy game?
00:01:16.387 --> 00:01:18.191
Sure, adam, thank you for having me here.
00:01:18.191 --> 00:01:19.033
I'm very excited.
00:01:19.033 --> 00:01:32.167
I started selling on Amazon 12 years ago and originally I just threw up a bunch of things to see what would work the best, and a few things really took off.
00:01:32.167 --> 00:01:41.509
I started bringing in containers of it and at that time I had a middleman bringing the stuff in for me and I was living off of it for years.
00:01:41.509 --> 00:01:42.504
I bought a house with it.
00:01:42.504 --> 00:01:46.150
I made a lot of money from it, thank God.
00:01:46.230 --> 00:02:01.373
And then at one point I tried to go direct to import it myself from China and I had no idea how to do any of that, how to negotiate with the suppliers and quality control and all those things.
00:02:01.373 --> 00:02:07.111
So I brought in one container completely garbage, it was all.
00:02:07.111 --> 00:02:08.222
It was all yeah.
00:02:08.222 --> 00:02:12.652
And then I brought in a second container right after that, also worthless.
00:02:12.652 --> 00:02:19.778
I lost a lot of money bringing in my own things, so I was a little bit fed up with that.
00:02:19.838 --> 00:02:28.122
I sold my business, I sold my brand and and I said you know what, I know how to build great successful listings on Amazon.
00:02:28.122 --> 00:02:34.282
I don't know anything else about negotiating with suppliers and all that other side of the business.
00:02:34.282 --> 00:02:46.751
Let me go to people that know about importing goods, that probably have a lot more money and a lot more inventory than me and let me show them how to really scale on Amazon.
00:02:46.751 --> 00:02:50.682
And I would go up to them and tell them listen, look at my sales last year.
00:02:50.682 --> 00:02:51.705
Look at your sales.
00:02:51.705 --> 00:02:55.013
I'm a nobody and I'm beating you up.
00:02:55.013 --> 00:02:55.741
Look at my sales.
00:02:55.741 --> 00:02:56.825
It's so much more than you.
00:02:56.825 --> 00:03:01.140
Let's see what I could do for you and built up some successful listings for people.
00:03:01.140 --> 00:03:04.545
Word spread oh, Hymie made this listing, Hymie made that.
00:03:04.545 --> 00:03:10.936
And then I just started full-time managing accounts, scaling businesses on Amazon.
00:03:11.540 --> 00:03:11.961
It's funny.
00:03:11.961 --> 00:03:17.984
I thought you were going to say you cracked the code on bringing stuff in from Asia, and it's actually not.
00:03:17.984 --> 00:03:22.605
You got fed up with it and you focused on what you're really good at, so that's good to hear.
00:03:22.605 --> 00:03:29.049
Not everybody can say that and you really saw your niche was helping people sell on Amazon not necessarily.
00:03:29.049 --> 00:03:33.485
You know building product and bringing it in from overseas, so that's awesome.
00:03:34.848 --> 00:03:37.334
Yeah, I think it's a whole different business.
00:03:37.334 --> 00:03:43.682
You know, like you got to really focus on something that you do well and do it the best that you can hey.
00:03:43.965 --> 00:03:47.301
so you got to tell me, because I haven't ever cracked the code on it.
00:03:47.301 --> 00:03:51.013
But what is the art and science of the amazon.
00:03:51.013 --> 00:03:52.617
com algorithm?
00:03:52.617 --> 00:03:53.760
Isn't it always changing?
00:03:53.760 --> 00:03:55.705
How do you figure this thing out, man?
00:03:57.168 --> 00:03:58.610
So it is always changing.
00:03:58.610 --> 00:04:01.782
It changed a lot since when I first started.
00:04:01.782 --> 00:04:10.149
It used to be much easier you just throw something up there and it would basically sell on its own, even if the pictures are garbage or it was missing all the right keywords.
00:04:10.149 --> 00:04:13.811
Nowadays you really need to step up your game.
00:04:13.811 --> 00:04:23.831
I'm in all different types of masterminds and watching constantly YouTubes and podcasts and looking up online all the different changes that Amazon makes.
00:04:23.831 --> 00:04:26.882
A lot of times they'll make changes, very frequently.
00:04:26.882 --> 00:04:43.189
They'll make changes and they don't tell anybody about it because they don't like to share their algorithm, but really just staying in the business and seeing what's going on and you really have to do everything the best that you can.
00:04:43.228 --> 00:04:44.312
You need amazing images.
00:04:44.312 --> 00:04:49.012
You need to have all the keywords everywhere the title, the bullets, keywords, backend.
00:04:49.012 --> 00:04:52.470
You need to make sure that you're looking at your conversion rate, your click-through rate.
00:04:52.470 --> 00:04:55.220
There's so many things that need to be.
00:04:55.220 --> 00:04:55.641
It used to be.
00:04:55.641 --> 00:04:57.588
You could do maybe two out of the five things.
00:04:57.588 --> 00:05:03.149
Now you need to do every single one of those five things perfectly if you really want to build it.
00:05:03.149 --> 00:05:05.774
You know, yeah, no that makes sense.
00:05:05.819 --> 00:05:09.672
I mean, what's funny is what you're saying is true.
00:05:09.672 --> 00:05:10.735
I mean Amazon.
00:05:10.735 --> 00:05:21.668
If you're not in it every day and you're not part of the communities and listening and learning and reading Amazon will take off and take away from you.
00:05:21.668 --> 00:05:23.834
You'll get lost in the abyss.
00:05:23.834 --> 00:05:31.302
You need to be connected to a community because it changes so often and there's so many different parts of Amazon that you have to be really good at.
00:05:31.704 --> 00:05:37.523
And I talk to brands all the time they go oh, we can just put the products up and we'll be fine.
00:05:37.523 --> 00:05:52.769
It's like you have no idea what it's like to try and deal and work through the Amazon marketplace, be able to take your products from something that's maybe small to something that's big, or protecting your brand, even on Amazon.
00:05:52.769 --> 00:05:57.689
So I think it's complicated and people don't realize how complicated it really is.
00:05:57.689 --> 00:06:01.649
And so, which leads me to the what was this big win?
00:06:01.649 --> 00:06:07.403
Because it sounds like you took somebody from, and that's a great story and inspiration for everybody that listens to the show.
00:06:07.403 --> 00:06:08.625
What was the?
00:06:08.625 --> 00:06:14.675
You don't have to tell us the exact brand, but what was this one where you took it from a million to, or 3 million to, 24 million?
00:06:26.500 --> 00:06:33.341
and then I'm saying I'm not trying to brag I do have a lot of stories where people had very big increases in sales just because you have to just check off every box that you can and amazon will reward you.
00:06:33.341 --> 00:06:34.442
It's just an algorithm.
00:06:34.442 --> 00:06:51.343
So, basically, this company, they had listings, um, you know, we ranked them nicely, they were selling, they were selling very well and it was clothing and they were planning on letting certain sizes and or colors go out of stock.
00:06:51.343 --> 00:06:55.464
And I said, listen, this is clothing.
00:06:55.464 --> 00:07:02.348
It's not like you have one size and you can just let it sell out and all the other sizes will just continue.
00:07:02.908 --> 00:07:06.569
Like normal, amazon looks at every child's variation.
00:07:06.569 --> 00:07:24.396
So if you search a word whatever the word is men's underwear, men's joggers you search that word and on Amazon search results they're showing, even though it looks like they're showing the full parent in the back end or on the URL.
00:07:24.396 --> 00:07:26.497
You'll see one child ASIN is showing.
00:07:26.497 --> 00:07:38.543
It's usually that child ASIN is the one that's holding that keyword, so that child ASIN is showing up on page one.
00:07:38.543 --> 00:07:46.026
If you don't have that child ASIN, it doesn't mean that another size or color is just going to start showing up on page one Once you sell out of that color slash size, you might be on page four.
00:07:46.026 --> 00:07:57.461
So it's, like, so important to make sure that you don't sell out, especially of the MVPs, of the children that are ranked for the best keywords that are bringing in the majority of the sales.
00:07:57.521 --> 00:08:02.572
So I told these guys, we cannot sell out, we must bring it in.
00:08:02.572 --> 00:08:10.387
And they were very nervous to bring it in because we had to ship it in through air, they would be losing some money.
00:08:10.387 --> 00:08:17.309
And I was like guys, this listing is going to sell hundreds and hundreds of pieces, 400 or 500 units a day.
00:08:17.309 --> 00:08:23.887
You can't just let it go out of stock for three months right now.
00:08:23.887 --> 00:08:24.928
That'll kill everything.
00:08:24.928 --> 00:08:37.990
So we aired it in, lost some money in the beginning, but the listing just took off since we didn't run out, and that happened over a few different listings and it was just.
00:08:38.010 --> 00:08:56.961
You know, it's like one of the most important things is just staying in stock and doing everything right, because if you sell out of stock or, like you said before, when people just think they'll just throw things up on Amazon and it'll sell, if you do things wrong from the beginning, it doesn't mean you automatically have a second chance.
00:08:56.961 --> 00:08:58.184
Yeah, we'll figure it out later.
00:08:58.184 --> 00:09:08.894
Yeah, you could obviously do the best you can to get back on track, but you don't know what you missed out on by messing up the honeymoon period or by messing up that momentum.
00:09:08.894 --> 00:09:13.071
I like to think of it as if a guy's running in a race and he trips.
00:09:13.071 --> 00:09:19.952
Yeah, he can get back up and continue running, but he just hurt himself by doing that, yeah, lost a lot of steps.
00:09:21.100 --> 00:09:21.831
I mean that's great.
00:09:21.831 --> 00:09:27.552
So obviously this brand is happy with with you and you killed it for them.
00:09:27.552 --> 00:09:31.206
Yeah, okay, so you know it's funny.
00:09:31.206 --> 00:09:36.105
I get a lot of questions and I keep kind of track of the questions I get that are the most popular.
00:09:36.105 --> 00:09:47.980
And since you're the Amazon guru when it comes to advertising and building brands on Amazon, I'm going to ask you a few and kind of I'd love to get your perspective on these things.
00:09:47.980 --> 00:09:54.868
And the biggest, most important question I think I get from everybody and I'm not going to ask you the should I be on Amazon or not?
00:09:54.868 --> 00:10:00.639
But it's how the heck do I get good reviews Like what's the magic?
00:10:00.639 --> 00:10:04.235
Is there a silver bullet or is it just a lot of great things?
00:10:06.042 --> 00:10:16.480
So I wanted to start with you should never do anything against the rules on Amazon, and when I say that I mean obviously, like buying reviews, incentivized reviews.
00:10:16.480 --> 00:10:20.991
You should never mess around with that, because Amazon does not care who you are.
00:10:20.991 --> 00:10:24.947
They will suspend you and it doesn't matter if you're doing.
00:10:24.947 --> 00:10:33.951
I know a seller who is doing over $100 million a year when he got suspended and they don't care because the next guy will just move right up and take that spot.
00:10:33.951 --> 00:10:36.184
So never do anything.
00:10:36.647 --> 00:10:40.690
Black hat Reviews is like the number one thing Amazon is looking for.
00:10:40.690 --> 00:10:45.148
First of all, I have no problem getting reviews.
00:10:45.148 --> 00:10:53.514
My whole review strategy is if you're doing it right, which means you're brand registered, I will enroll it in Vine.
00:10:53.514 --> 00:11:12.081
And when I enroll it in Vine, I'll also enroll it in Vine at a very low price so that I'll make sure I'm getting as many good reviews as possible, because even though the Vine reviewer is getting it for free, he's still leaving the review based on, you know, for the person who's shopping.
00:11:12.081 --> 00:11:24.563
So if they see something like, wow, it's an amazing deal, it's definitely worth the money, they're going to give you all five stars, but if you have one, just pain, just one guy who's just so annoying, you know, oh, it's okay.
00:11:25.164 --> 00:11:27.450
A four-star review like doesn't cut it, like that's.
00:11:27.450 --> 00:11:33.620
You don't want four-star reviews, you want all five-star reviews, maybe one four.
00:11:33.620 --> 00:11:36.109
Okay, then if you get a negative review on Vine, you're finished.
00:11:36.109 --> 00:11:37.405
You just killed your whole listing.
00:11:37.405 --> 00:11:40.159
You're going to need a dozen good reviews to fix that.
00:11:40.399 --> 00:12:00.129
I like to enroll it in Vine at a low price, get those 30 reviews and then I like to keep it at a low price afterwards and advertise it so that I'm getting a lot, a lot of sales and then I'm requesting reviews on every single order and there's a lot of things that go.
00:12:00.129 --> 00:12:07.421
You know there's a lot of benefits to doing that because you're also getting, you know, ranked for all the keywords, because Amazon is seeing all those conversions.
00:12:07.421 --> 00:12:20.707
But yeah, like you shouldn't have any problem getting reviews if you're enrolled in Vine at a low price and then you continue keeping it at that price afterwards, advertising, and then Amazon lets you request a review, have the Vine when you click the order number and there's extensions.
00:12:20.707 --> 00:12:23.226
Also Request reviews on every single order.
00:12:24.820 --> 00:12:27.428
And so obviously getting a five is everything.
00:12:27.428 --> 00:12:29.889
I mean, how important is reviews to sales?
00:12:32.259 --> 00:12:34.264
Reviews are important.
00:12:34.264 --> 00:12:36.789
They are not, so they're not.
00:12:36.789 --> 00:12:38.572
You don't need thousands of reviews.
00:12:38.572 --> 00:12:42.006
You know sometimes you do, it depends on the product.
00:12:42.006 --> 00:12:54.230
But a lot of people think you need like thousands and thousands of reviews to you know, to compete with every competitor, but you don't like I have a lot of listings that are doing better than my competition and I have 200 reviews and they have 3,000 reviews.
00:12:54.230 --> 00:12:57.285
The most important thing is just having a good average.
00:12:57.285 --> 00:13:11.668
You need to have a four and a half star showing and if you get to a four star, you definitely see a significant difference in sales and this helps the algorithm right.
00:13:12.280 --> 00:13:16.192
Amazon puts you up higher with this right.
00:13:17.844 --> 00:13:19.250
It definitely helps the algorithm.
00:13:19.250 --> 00:13:21.889
They see a product that people love.
00:13:21.889 --> 00:13:26.125
They want to show you more, and then also things like return rates.
00:13:26.125 --> 00:13:28.072
All those things help the algorithm.
00:13:28.072 --> 00:13:32.892
If they see things that are highly returned, all the time it hurts.
00:13:32.892 --> 00:13:39.825
That's why they started putting that badge also, and then it's also hurting conversion rates now that they see that frequently returned item.
00:13:40.748 --> 00:13:45.610
Yeah, no, that's no good, and so that's the worst.
00:13:45.610 --> 00:13:54.169
So I was thinking and I haven't talked to you about this before but do you do anything with influencers at all to try and get reviews, or is that not what you do yet?
00:13:55.211 --> 00:13:58.942
So I not, not really for reviews.
00:13:58.942 --> 00:14:01.607
No, because it's a little bit depending.
00:14:01.607 --> 00:14:05.803
I'd be asking them to leave you a review that you're going to send them a free product.
00:14:05.803 --> 00:14:07.285
It could be a little bit risky.
00:14:07.285 --> 00:14:16.614
I do send out, I do send out products to influencers to make YouTube videos and TikTok videos and things like that.
00:14:16.614 --> 00:14:22.493
Uh, but not to directly buy on Amazon from me and to and to leave a review.
00:14:22.493 --> 00:14:34.168
Just because you know, I'm not saying it's dangerous, but I, I, like I said before I, you know I knew a seller who was doing he was a top seller doing a hundred million a year and he got suspended.
00:14:34.168 --> 00:14:37.023
So, like I try to keep very, very careful.
00:14:37.524 --> 00:14:38.967
No, that's good advice.
00:14:38.967 --> 00:14:40.772
Okay, good, Well, thank you for that.
00:14:40.772 --> 00:14:53.816
And then another one that comes up all the time is you know, I had this listing and it was doing great, and then things just started to slow down.
00:14:53.816 --> 00:14:58.009
And you know, do you see, good listings go bad?
00:14:58.009 --> 00:14:58.871
Is that what happens?
00:15:00.961 --> 00:15:03.105
I see listings decline all the time.
00:15:03.105 --> 00:15:11.571
But there's definitely a reason for that, originally when, when I first started selling one of my one of my listings, I saw that it started getting a little bit slow.
00:15:11.571 --> 00:15:13.094
I'm like you know what.
00:15:13.094 --> 00:15:16.004
It's been a slow few weeks, I guess it's just normal.
00:15:16.004 --> 00:15:18.287
Then it just kept getting worse and worse.
00:15:18.287 --> 00:15:19.524
I'm like what's going on?
00:15:19.620 --> 00:15:21.307
Then I was speaking to my mentor at the time.
00:15:21.307 --> 00:15:35.192
He was like Hymie, if you're losing sales unless it's a seasonal type of product if you're losing sales, that means that somebody else is taking your sales.
00:15:35.192 --> 00:15:40.671
So basically, I was ranked for a keyword organically and another guy.
00:15:40.671 --> 00:15:45.365
I went down, and another guy went up and took my spot and now he's getting all the traffic.
00:15:45.365 --> 00:15:47.551
And that was before I was tracking keywords.
00:15:47.551 --> 00:15:53.591
Now I recommend everybody track their organic keywords and see what's going on.
00:15:53.591 --> 00:16:09.490
If you're losing sales, it's either you lost organic placement or there was a keyword that you were sponsoring or something that you were sponsoring and you were getting a lot of sales from it and for some reason you're not spending as much on it, or your maybe your cost per clicks.
00:16:09.590 --> 00:16:12.394
But on the listing and the organic part of it.
00:16:12.394 --> 00:16:19.427
Is it that they need to revamp their listing to get the word more words in there, to work on their SEO?
00:16:19.427 --> 00:16:20.129
What?
00:16:20.129 --> 00:16:22.769
What's going on in the listing that's having them lose the organic?
00:16:23.919 --> 00:16:25.706
Sometimes it could be that they need to.
00:16:25.706 --> 00:16:28.078
They need to freshen up their listing.
00:16:28.078 --> 00:16:35.991
Maybe there's new words or different trending phrases that they should, because the search volumes change on different words and different long tail phrases.
00:16:35.991 --> 00:16:40.769
But most of the time what I see is that they're just not tracking their keywords.
00:16:40.769 --> 00:16:47.332
And there was a keyword they thought okay, I'm getting a lot of sales, let me just run ads and it'll continue.
00:16:47.332 --> 00:16:50.013
But they don't realize that something.
00:16:50.013 --> 00:16:54.032
Maybe their ads cannibalize their organic placement or whatever it is.
00:16:54.032 --> 00:16:58.466
Maybe just the competitor is converting better and getting more sales organically for that keyword.
00:16:58.967 --> 00:17:04.009
Somebody took their spot and Amazon's not adding another spot for them.
00:17:04.009 --> 00:17:06.300
Amazon, if somebody goes up, somebody needs to go down.
00:17:06.300 --> 00:17:09.266
A lot of times it's just they're not looking at the data.
00:17:09.266 --> 00:17:11.329
They're not looking at like where are my sales coming?
00:17:11.329 --> 00:17:12.011
And usually it's.
00:17:12.011 --> 00:17:23.390
You know, if you're looking at five to 10 keywords max, you should be able to maintain your business Like these are the five, six, seven keywords that I'm in the top 10 for I need to make sure that I'm.
00:17:23.390 --> 00:17:24.613
I stay in the top 10.
00:17:47.539 --> 00:17:51.711
Yeah, no, that makes, that makes sense, and one of the big issues these days is it seems to me, and it seems to most, that if you're not spending money on advertising on Amazon, you're going to lose share.
00:17:51.711 --> 00:17:53.316
But what's your philosophy on advertising and PPC on Amazon versus organic?
00:17:53.316 --> 00:17:54.479
So when launching a product, you definitely need ads.
00:17:54.479 --> 00:18:10.548
Obviously there's some exceptions to the rule where you could just kill the price and drive outside traffic, but ads help so much during the honeymoon period and during a launch so that you get shown for so many different keywords and on other people's listings.
00:18:10.548 --> 00:18:14.940
Down the road you might be able to lower your ads.
00:18:16.825 --> 00:18:25.289
On one of my listings, one of my biggest competitors basically shut off his ads about six months ago and he's still killing it.
00:18:25.289 --> 00:18:44.465
He's still doing unbelievable, but what he's doing is he's doing every single lightning deal and seven-day deal available, which is a great strategy, and also he lowered his price and added a coupon code.
00:18:44.465 --> 00:18:57.876
So there has to be something that you're doing to drive the sales either lightning deals, 7-day deals, more competitive pricing, something to push it.
00:18:57.876 --> 00:19:16.409
I don't think shutting off the ads where you have your organic rank, because sometimes the ads will also catabolize your sales and all of a sudden it'll hurt the organic rank.
00:19:16.409 --> 00:19:25.050
So I think finding a sweet spot in the middle PPC is important, but you don't want to rely completely on it where, all of a sudden, your ads just shut off.
00:19:25.050 --> 00:19:26.173
You run out of budget, that's it.
00:19:26.173 --> 00:19:27.115
Now your sales are gone.
00:19:28.261 --> 00:19:31.541
But start heavy with a new product and then moderate over time.
00:19:31.541 --> 00:19:37.074
You want to get that cost per acquisition down, I guess, over time.
00:19:37.074 --> 00:19:39.624
But don't stop, don't stop.
00:19:39.624 --> 00:19:49.351
But you need to always be doing something with regard to PPC on Amazon, I would think 100%, especially in the beginning.
00:19:49.391 --> 00:19:59.500
A lot of people they'll say, oh, let me just spend very little in the beginning, the first few months, and they're killing the whole honeymoon period and they're spending nothing in the beginning and down the road.
00:19:59.500 --> 00:20:01.269
Now Amazon sees that it's just.
00:20:01.269 --> 00:20:02.515
You know what I mean.
00:20:02.515 --> 00:20:05.845
It's so important in the beginning for Amazon to see that this is a strong listing.
00:20:05.845 --> 00:20:18.892
That's why a lot of people will just put it at a low price in the beginning, blast it with ads and every single person that's seeing their ad is like, wow, this is an amazing price, I'm going to buy it.
00:20:18.892 --> 00:20:23.365
And Amazon's seeing an amazing conversion rate and they just want to show you now for everything.
00:20:23.506 --> 00:20:26.633
So what's Hymie's secret sauce for PPC advertising for success?
00:20:26.633 --> 00:20:35.131
Is it more like it's the long tail or is it focusing on a few words, like when you go into an account, what's your thoughts, how do you attack it?
00:20:37.079 --> 00:20:40.165
So there's really no set rule.
00:20:40.165 --> 00:20:46.123
I do both long tail, I definitely do long tail, and I also do just short.
00:20:46.123 --> 00:20:47.545
Main keyword it depends on.
00:20:47.545 --> 00:20:52.074
It either has to be making us money or improving the rank.
00:20:52.074 --> 00:20:57.864
So I'll look at every search term that we're advertising on and I'll see is this profitable for us?
00:20:57.864 --> 00:20:59.888
Are we making money off this?
00:20:59.888 --> 00:21:03.723
If we're not making money, it could still be very useful.
00:21:03.723 --> 00:21:07.540
If, of course, you have to be tracking your organic keywords and seeing.
00:21:07.540 --> 00:21:07.922
You know what?
00:21:07.922 --> 00:21:13.700
We're getting a lot of sales now from this keyword because he's advertising it and now we see it improving.
00:21:13.700 --> 00:21:15.624
Last week it was in the 20th spot.
00:21:15.624 --> 00:21:17.127
This week it's in the 10th spot.
00:21:17.127 --> 00:21:18.832
That that's value.
00:21:18.832 --> 00:21:22.848
That means it's worth it to lose money on the edge because now you're, you're ranking it organically.
00:21:22.848 --> 00:21:30.132
But if you're just spending on something and you're not making money and you're not even ranking the ranks, rank's not improving.
00:21:30.132 --> 00:21:34.220
What's the long-term strategy with that?
00:21:34.220 --> 00:21:37.230
It doesn't seem like there's a plan there.
00:21:37.230 --> 00:21:40.650
You just spend to make sales that you're losing on completely.
00:21:41.880 --> 00:21:44.710
Do you use software to manage your PPC or are you doing it all manually?
00:21:46.521 --> 00:21:48.409
I do use a little bit of software.
00:21:48.409 --> 00:21:53.653
I have a custom API where I change some bids and things like that.
00:21:53.653 --> 00:22:01.000
Most of it's manual, though A lot of times I like to bulk create things, bulk create a lot of listings.
00:22:01.000 --> 00:22:15.332
You know, single keyword campaigns, yeah, but I'll use some softwares and I'll use some, uh google sheets that I built out, that have like automation tools to just put everything together nicely.
00:22:15.332 --> 00:22:22.430
I don't rely I don't recommend anyone uh rely completely on software, especially on software.
00:22:22.430 --> 00:22:23.192
That's just.
00:22:23.192 --> 00:22:23.813
Oh, you know what?
00:22:23.813 --> 00:22:36.547
I'm going to get you a low, the lowest ACOS, and because then they're it'll either slow down the sales or they're not looking at the organic rank, like it needs a manual.
00:22:36.547 --> 00:22:43.810
It needs a real life person with a brain to look at and to see like, okay, how is this campaign affecting everything else?
00:22:43.810 --> 00:22:48.286
And also, a lot of times the listing will change.
00:22:48.326 --> 00:22:53.795
What happens if you were at a four and a half star and then you got a few bad reviews and now you went to a four star?
00:22:53.795 --> 00:22:56.209
Your ad strategy might totally be different now.
00:22:56.209 --> 00:23:00.171
It doesn't mean it's the same thing as it was before.
00:23:00.171 --> 00:23:02.689
Let's say, you change your price, you adjust your price.
00:23:02.689 --> 00:23:05.142
Now you need to adjust your ads Everything.
00:23:05.142 --> 00:23:08.270
You have to adjust your ads based on stock also.
00:23:08.270 --> 00:23:09.133
Am I going to sell out, Am I not?
00:23:09.133 --> 00:23:09.990
You have to adjust your ads based on stock also.
00:23:09.990 --> 00:23:10.497
Am I gonna sell out, am I not?
00:23:10.497 --> 00:23:14.236
Like there's so many different things I don't recommend anyone.
00:23:14.256 --> 00:23:16.660
So manual is, uh, the old, the old-fashioned way.
00:23:16.660 --> 00:23:21.319
I mean, I talked to a lot of folks and they they used to spend a lot of time using software.
00:23:21.319 --> 00:23:22.625
Now they went back to manual.
00:23:22.625 --> 00:23:31.712
So, um, they like, like you said, they used, they used the software a little bit to help them organize, but they're going through every campaign manually, day by day.
00:23:31.712 --> 00:23:34.407
So it seems like a winning strategy to me.
00:23:34.407 --> 00:23:35.704
Just a lot of work.
00:23:37.560 --> 00:23:39.445
Definitely a lot of work, but you can't rely only on ads.
00:23:39.445 --> 00:23:47.732
We're not at that point where you need to use your brain a little bit and see what's going on.
00:23:48.500 --> 00:23:50.640
What's your thoughts on off Amazon advertising?
00:23:50.640 --> 00:24:01.195
I mean, I've been seeing off Amazon Google becoming more important, or am I just being sold a bill of goods by the new guys that are out there selling this stuff?
00:24:02.940 --> 00:24:08.607
So with Google, I play around with Google a little bit.
00:24:08.607 --> 00:24:23.351
I like it because when you send traffic to listings, even if there's no sales, it'll help you rank a little bit, just because Amazon sees that external traffic.
00:24:23.351 --> 00:24:36.528
But the truth is, if I have a limited ad budget, I would prefer to spend it on amazon, where the person is ready to buy something.
00:24:36.528 --> 00:24:43.150
A lot of times on google the person's just looking for information and things like that, but, like on amazon, that's where they're buying it.
00:24:43.150 --> 00:24:43.791
So I want to.
00:24:43.791 --> 00:24:48.527
Unless you have unlimited budget, I like to put most of my money on Amazon.
00:24:49.146 --> 00:24:50.249
Yeah, I mean.
00:24:50.249 --> 00:24:58.019
So Amazon likes off Amazon traffic, so they help with the ranking, but you're getting higher conversion rates on Amazon with Amazon advertising.
00:24:58.019 --> 00:25:07.246
That makes sense, except, I think people are trying everything at this point to try and get more sales on Amazon, but they do give you a discount.
00:25:07.246 --> 00:25:13.867
From what I understand, if you're doing it through your brand registry, you're the brand owner, I believe you get 10% off.
00:25:15.240 --> 00:25:16.884
That can add up also a lot.
00:25:17.446 --> 00:25:19.531
Yeah, no, it's pretty pretty helpful.
00:25:20.361 --> 00:25:31.070
I had a person make a Tik TOK video of one of my listings and it's like an unbelievable video and I'm spending on that a lot now and it's doing amazing.
00:25:31.632 --> 00:25:31.873
Really.
00:25:32.140 --> 00:25:34.087
But also it's because of the content.
00:25:34.087 --> 00:25:35.963
It's a great video that somebody made.
00:25:38.048 --> 00:25:38.650
Big one for me.
00:25:38.650 --> 00:25:39.191
That's great.
00:25:39.191 --> 00:25:43.640
I could use a couple of those and then going back, just staying with the advertising for a second.
00:25:43.640 --> 00:25:50.253
So when I think about, first of all, I hate that you have to spend money, but you have to spend money in advertising.
00:25:50.253 --> 00:25:53.750
And then there's some of the listings with the keywords that you're losing money on.
00:25:53.750 --> 00:25:59.932
But if you have like a subscribe and save product, I mean, to me it really comes down to what's going to be the repeat buy.
00:25:59.932 --> 00:26:09.609
You know not that you own all these customers Amazon kind of owns them but you could see what the repeat is on your products and that would help me and make me want to advertise more and more.
00:26:09.609 --> 00:26:13.454
I think I don't know what's your thoughts on subscribe and save and advertising on that stuff.
00:26:20.819 --> 00:26:21.079
You know what?
00:26:21.079 --> 00:26:21.961
I completely didn't mention that Great call.
00:26:21.961 --> 00:26:24.827
If you're selling an item that people repurchase, that you could set up a subscribe and save.
00:26:24.827 --> 00:26:34.453
That's another factor, another reason why you would want to lose money in the beginning on the ads to get that customer, and now that's it.
00:26:34.453 --> 00:26:37.711
Now you have a customer who's repeatedly purchasing.
00:26:37.711 --> 00:26:40.589
So that's yeah, I love subscribe and save.
00:26:40.750 --> 00:26:41.374
So do I.
00:26:41.374 --> 00:26:42.519
I mean it's an annuity.
00:26:42.519 --> 00:26:50.473
I mean to me, if I was going to go try and find a new product to sell on Amazon, unless I was selling gold bars or something.
00:26:50.473 --> 00:26:53.278
I think it has to be something that people buy over and over again.
00:26:55.323 --> 00:26:58.751
I subscribe and save to all my products that are subscribable.
00:27:00.122 --> 00:27:00.784
No, it's great.
00:27:00.784 --> 00:27:01.888
Yeah, no, we do too.
00:27:01.888 --> 00:27:11.853
No, so pretty interesting, and I think it's a powerful feature that Amazon has and people should think about that in their advertising strategy.
00:27:11.853 --> 00:27:16.970
So we talked about advertising and organic, but is there any way?
00:27:16.970 --> 00:27:25.823
I mean, do you know any of these brands that are able to rank in the top five, that aren't spending money or they could do it all organically, or is that just crap?
00:27:27.165 --> 00:27:33.885
That aren't spending any money, even through yeah, even through, like Google ads and things like that.
00:27:33.885 --> 00:27:37.333
It's, it's, it's hard right, Very, very hard.
00:27:37.333 --> 00:27:39.816
You know you definitely could get ranked, definitely could get ranked right, Very, very hard.
00:27:39.816 --> 00:27:42.026
You definitely could get ranked, Definitely could get ranked.
00:27:42.026 --> 00:27:58.973
But either you're going to have to spend on ads or I'm in the middle of the page organically.
00:27:58.973 --> 00:28:09.593
I'm sure if I cut my price in half, even if I'm losing money now, all the people that see me in the middle of the page are going to start to buy me and then I'll start moving up and up and up.
00:28:09.593 --> 00:28:12.288
I'm saying you're taking money from one place to another.
00:28:12.559 --> 00:28:14.684
It's about finding You're spending it anyway.
00:28:14.684 --> 00:28:17.626
Yeah, yeah, no, that makes sense.
00:28:17.626 --> 00:28:22.726
And then there's always the should I buy my competitors brand names?
00:28:22.726 --> 00:28:38.801
Like you know, that happens on google, happens on amazon, and if somebody's looking for you know, I'm going to say I sell a lot of technology products and I remember talking to the Epson people and they have this receipt printer and it's really popular, really well known in the real world.
00:28:39.343 --> 00:28:42.547
But you go on Amazon and you punch in Epson receipt printer and it's really popular, really well known in the real world.
00:28:42.547 --> 00:28:48.715
But you go on Amazon and you punch in Epson receipt printer and you'll see 10 other receipt printers before you get to theirs, from brands you've never heard of in your life.
00:28:48.715 --> 00:28:54.512
And so should you be buying the Epson brand?
00:28:54.512 --> 00:28:56.539
Should Epson be buying their own brand?
00:28:56.539 --> 00:28:58.026
What would your thoughts be?
00:28:58.026 --> 00:29:08.070
And I just throw Epson out because I remember this situation where they're, you know, outside of Amazon, they're the number one in that area, but inside Amazon there's 10 other guys.
00:29:11.023 --> 00:29:13.049
Basically like arbitrage, like buying.
00:29:13.460 --> 00:29:14.982
They're buying the Epson brand.
00:29:14.982 --> 00:29:23.666
So you punch in Epson label printer or receipt printer and brands you've never heard of just show up and Epson's somewhere at the bottom.
00:29:23.666 --> 00:29:26.201
So they're buying the brand name Epson.
00:29:26.201 --> 00:29:31.212
When they buy the keywords, they're buying Epson receipt printer, Epson printer, Epson this.
00:29:31.980 --> 00:29:37.262
Are you saying four keywords like advertising on the keywords yeah, oh, I do that.
00:29:37.262 --> 00:29:39.172
Yeah, yeah, I do that all the time so.
00:29:39.333 --> 00:29:51.909
So buying a competitor's brand name on ppc is a is something you should try or want to try yeah, if you're comparable, especially if you're, if you're a comparable item and you're cheaper, for sure.
00:29:51.949 --> 00:29:57.144
A lot of times I'll even I'm saying it should be done with big brands and also small brands.
00:29:57.144 --> 00:30:09.229
You know, it's very important to if a lot of times you'll look at, you'll look at the competitors that are selling well and let's say they have four stars and you have four and a half star, you should definitely be advertising on their listing.
00:30:09.229 --> 00:30:18.852
Or if you see a guy who's selling, you know selling an item and you have a very similar item and you're a couple of dollars cheaper, for sure, advertise on their listing.
00:30:20.240 --> 00:30:21.182
Okay, I mean.
00:30:21.182 --> 00:30:22.104
So that's good.
00:30:22.104 --> 00:30:30.551
I mean, sometimes I see, when I buy somebody else's brand, it's just the cost to acquire is so high, because I think they're really looking for that.
00:30:30.551 --> 00:30:31.761
And I get lucky once in a while.
00:30:31.761 --> 00:30:38.967
But I think you're right, if I'm cheaper, if I have better reviews, maybe I'm going to get a bigger share.
00:30:38.967 --> 00:30:40.932
So I think that's pretty good advice.
00:30:41.540 --> 00:30:42.585
It's worth a test.
00:30:42.585 --> 00:30:43.387
Worth a test.
00:30:43.387 --> 00:30:46.669
If you don't try it out, you won't know.
00:30:48.141 --> 00:30:53.680
So give us Hymie's top few reasons or ways to increase your conversion rate.
00:30:53.680 --> 00:31:01.334
I have something that I'm selling on Amazon, but I really think that I got great traffic but I'm just not converting enough.
00:31:01.334 --> 00:31:03.585
What are some of your tips and tricks?
00:31:03.585 --> 00:31:04.268
What do we do?
00:31:06.000 --> 00:31:08.185
One of the biggest things is making sure that your image.
00:31:08.185 --> 00:31:11.153
I know everyone says images are so important.
00:31:11.153 --> 00:31:12.626
They really are so important.
00:31:12.626 --> 00:31:16.230
The customer they can't touch your product.
00:31:16.230 --> 00:31:17.946
They have to see something.
00:31:17.946 --> 00:31:20.705
Every image is important.
00:31:20.705 --> 00:31:29.665
First of all, you need an amazing main image to improve the click-through rate so that when people see you in the search results they're going to click into your listing.
00:31:29.665 --> 00:31:38.210
And then every other image has to be like so vivid and 3D I just close up to where they can see.
00:31:38.210 --> 00:31:46.881
You know if you're selling clothing, they can see the quality they can like, feel it, basically through the image where they don't have any questions.
00:31:46.881 --> 00:31:48.464
And then also the image.
00:31:48.987 --> 00:31:50.711
A lot of people go back to clothing.
00:31:50.711 --> 00:31:58.482
For example, if your size chart, if you don't have a size chart, you know it's over and if you have a size chart, that's a little bit confusing.
00:31:58.482 --> 00:32:03.492
People don't really want to waste their time and start buying things that they're not sure of.
00:32:03.492 --> 00:32:05.944
Like you want to remove any doubt.
00:32:05.944 --> 00:32:12.048
And then if you're selling, you know, let's say, you're selling car accessories like you should be putting in fit.
00:32:12.048 --> 00:32:24.105
If it's made for a certain thing, you should be fits this model, this model, this model like you should be convincing them and removing any sort of doubt from the buyer when they're on your page.
00:32:24.105 --> 00:32:30.126
If they're on your page it's worth so much money you don't want to get them off your page now.
00:32:30.126 --> 00:32:38.852
So if it's waterproof, make sure you have it waterproof in big letters in the beginning of the bullet, in big letters on the image, whatever it is.
00:32:38.920 --> 00:32:44.053
You need to make sure that any question they have about your listing is answered.
00:32:44.053 --> 00:32:53.755
And then to help with the conversion rate, I like playing around with coupons also, playing around with prices.
00:32:53.755 --> 00:33:01.076
Like, let's say I'll add a 5% off clip coupon or I'll adjust the price or sale price.
00:33:01.076 --> 00:33:06.909
I'll look at the conversion rate for like a week straight and see how is that affecting my listing.
00:33:06.909 --> 00:33:09.663
And also the same thing with the image.
00:33:09.663 --> 00:33:15.986
Let's say I'm changing an image, I'm changing a main image or I'm changing a secondary image how is it affecting my listing?
00:33:15.986 --> 00:33:25.008
But the most important thing is to not do everything at the same time, because if you're not do everything at the same time, because if you're changing your price at the same time as you're changing your image, you don't know what's going on.
00:33:25.008 --> 00:33:27.030
You don't know what's improving anything or what's hurting it.
00:33:27.652 --> 00:33:35.319
So those are two very big things, do you?
00:33:36.948 --> 00:33:39.618
do the photography for your clients, or are they doing it and they're giving you the content?
00:33:39.618 --> 00:33:44.727
So we do all the secondary images, uh, lifestyle size chart, storefront, evc, things like that.
00:33:44.727 --> 00:33:58.568
Um, they send us a main image, a couple main images, and then we just have our graphic designers who make up, you know, beautiful images from that do you ever do renderings, or is it like do you do 3d renderings and they work out?
00:33:58.608 --> 00:33:58.868
We do.
00:33:59.471 --> 00:34:04.883
Yes, it depends on the product, but a lot of times there'll be great.
00:34:04.903 --> 00:34:08.552
We started, we started doing that and sometimes they're better than the photography.
00:34:08.552 --> 00:34:12.425
Yeah, you get that shine to them and all that you know.
00:34:12.425 --> 00:34:23.961
It just looks, it pops, sure Cool, so you know, sure, so you know, is video that important or not?
00:34:24.003 --> 00:34:35.849
I mean, I, I love when there's a video, but I just hate when it doesn't tell me anything exactly if it's, if it's a product that you're not sure of how to use, or or all the benefits videos are so important.
00:34:35.849 --> 00:34:36.492
You know what I mean.
00:34:36.492 --> 00:34:45.661
Like you need to have a video showing the difference between you and your competitor, what your product has like a certain feature that other people don't have, or how to.
00:34:45.661 --> 00:34:48.027
You know how easily you know this thing opens up.
00:34:48.027 --> 00:34:50.701
Like you have to show how, how it is to use.
00:34:50.701 --> 00:34:56.132
Um, if it's something like you're selling socks, I don't know if you need a video.
00:34:56.132 --> 00:34:58.003
It could be.
00:34:58.003 --> 00:34:59.748
It can't hurt having a video.
00:34:59.748 --> 00:35:04.068
It depends on the person's budget, but some products need videos.
00:35:04.068 --> 00:35:08.552
Like you need a video for this product, some products don't.
00:35:09.219 --> 00:35:12.289
Have you been doing any of the AB testing that they do on Amazon?
00:35:12.289 --> 00:35:12.971
They let you do new.
00:35:15.541 --> 00:35:23.112
Most of the AB testing that I do, I do it on third party websites just because I get quicker results and quicker answers.
00:35:23.112 --> 00:35:27.246
So you are testing content.
00:35:28.280 --> 00:35:29.144
Testing for sure.
00:35:29.144 --> 00:35:33.103
Yeah, okay, that's great, that's great, okay.
00:35:33.103 --> 00:35:38.648
And then going back to Amazon, do they really care about the content when they're looking at your ranking?
00:35:38.648 --> 00:35:45.317
We talked about the reviews and we know they're important, but is the content important to where you show up in rankings?
00:35:47.420 --> 00:35:48.469
Explain content.
00:35:48.469 --> 00:35:49.458
What do you mean by content?
00:35:49.840 --> 00:35:57.925
The images, the video, the words, all that Is that part of the algorithm Is that part of the algorithm.
00:35:57.945 --> 00:36:00.793
First of all, the amount of images you have are part of the algorithm.
00:36:00.793 --> 00:36:06.324
Whether the image is zoomable, part of the algorithm.
00:36:06.344 --> 00:36:07.045
Oh really, White background.
00:36:07.085 --> 00:36:07.807
Whether it's zoomable.
00:36:07.807 --> 00:36:17.208
Yeah, of course they're looking at everything, the alt text in the back of the images, like I have a little extension on my Chrome browser.
00:36:17.208 --> 00:36:19.726
I can look at any competitor and see what keywords they're putting in the back of the images.
00:36:19.726 --> 00:36:25.483
Like I have a little extension on my Chrome browser I can look at, like any competitor and see, like what keywords they're putting in the back of their images, supposed to put Spanish misspellings, things like that.
00:36:25.483 --> 00:36:31.902
And yeah, of course they're looking at all the words that you have there.
00:36:31.902 --> 00:36:33.967
You know long tail, short tail.
00:36:33.967 --> 00:36:34.409
They want to see.
00:36:34.409 --> 00:36:37.324
That's how the algorithm works.
00:36:39.273 --> 00:36:39.876
A lot of thought.
00:36:39.876 --> 00:36:41.563
Certain things are hurt the listings.
00:36:41.563 --> 00:36:46.159
Like I've seen html in the, in the descriptions, hurt the listings.
00:36:46.159 --> 00:36:53.338
Um, people putting a lot of emojis I've seen that hurt listings and it doesn't.
00:36:53.338 --> 00:36:56.384
It's not like a rule like if you put emojis your listing is gonna get.
00:36:56.384 --> 00:37:12.827
But I've seen the bots catch on to some listings that have emojis and HTML all bold in the beginning and you know sometimes the bots will just penalize it and just you know it'll hurt the rankings and then when you fix that you'll see all of a sudden it starts indexing again.
00:37:15.072 --> 00:37:15.512
Amazing.
00:37:15.512 --> 00:37:22.043
So let's talk about just SEO in general.
00:37:22.043 --> 00:37:24.045
I know that you used to spend and you still keywords.
00:37:24.045 --> 00:37:25.827
They're ranked for in the top 10 spots.
00:37:44.039 --> 00:38:01.791
So I'll use a tool like Helium 10 and I'll just put in their ASINs and I'll come up with thousands of words that they're in the top 10 for, and then I'll sort by search volume and then, of course, the highest search volume words that they're ranked very well for, and then, of course, the highest search volume words that they're ranked very well for, those will go into my title.
00:38:01.791 --> 00:38:09.143
The title is the most important and then after that I'll put the main keywords in the title.
00:38:09.143 --> 00:38:17.094
You have to really craft something nice, because you have to try to put the main keyword in the title, but then you can try to turn it into a long tail.
00:38:17.094 --> 00:38:20.789
The beginning of the long tail is the main keyword.
00:38:20.789 --> 00:38:27.509
So, really playing around with all different versions of the title and then the bullets and putting everything in the right order.
00:38:28.380 --> 00:38:30.226
What I'm trying to accomplish is I'm trying to.
00:38:30.226 --> 00:38:32.788
Obviously I don't want it to be too spammy.
00:38:32.788 --> 00:38:40.206
I want there to be readability and that the buyer understands what they're getting and answers any questions.
00:38:40.206 --> 00:38:48.831
But I really want amazon's algorithm to favor me over the competition and to see okay, this guy has this word over here in the beginning of the title.
00:38:48.831 --> 00:38:51.204
This must be the main thing, or he has this over here.
00:38:51.204 --> 00:38:52.547
He doesn't have these key.
00:38:52.547 --> 00:38:55.342
If you're missing keywords, why are they going to want to show you?
00:38:56.965 --> 00:38:58.168
so Makes sense.
00:38:58.188 --> 00:39:00.193
Yeah, my main thing is really just with the organic.
00:39:01.400 --> 00:39:07.974
So I don't want to date this podcast too much, but we have, although we're kind of a little bit past the date to set up your promos.
00:39:07.974 --> 00:39:25.085
We have Prime Day coming up in July and any words of wisdom for folks that are going to be trying to increase their sales during this huge day or days be trying to increase their sales during this huge day or days.
00:39:25.106 --> 00:39:33.447
Okay, so we are past the date for setting up Prime Day deals, lightning deals and the best deals that was May 3rd but you can still set up Prime exclusive Prime Day deals.
00:39:33.447 --> 00:39:39.547
So if you go to Prime exclusive discounts and then you click create, it'll say is this a Prime Day deal?
00:39:39.547 --> 00:39:41.271
It's a little checkbox and you just click that.
00:39:41.271 --> 00:39:43.726
I recommend everybody does that.
00:39:43.726 --> 00:39:51.532
If a lot of people in the past were not eligible for the other type of Prime Day deals, we did those.
00:39:51.532 --> 00:39:53.226
The sales are unbelievable.
00:39:53.226 --> 00:39:56.168
So definitely everyone should set that up.
00:39:56.168 --> 00:39:59.929
If you change your mind later down the road, for whatever reason, you can cancel it.
00:39:59.929 --> 00:40:00.992
And there's no fee.
00:40:00.992 --> 00:40:02.646
There's no fee for that deal.
00:40:02.646 --> 00:40:05.489
There's no, you know, it's free to run.
00:40:05.489 --> 00:40:07.226
So I recommend everyone do that.
00:40:07.226 --> 00:40:09.427
And then also, you got to start getting your goods in.
00:40:09.427 --> 00:40:18.027
I don't know the exact date Sometime in June I think it's maybe mid-June where your goods have to be sent to Amazon.
00:40:18.027 --> 00:40:20.090
So we need to send it.
00:40:20.090 --> 00:40:23.215
I don't know when this podcast is going to be published hopefully before then.
00:40:27.260 --> 00:40:30.186
But everyone needs to start sending their goods in to Amazon right away.
00:40:30.186 --> 00:40:33.733
Yeah, it sounds like Amazon also relaxed their new overstock understock rules.
00:40:33.733 --> 00:40:34.054
Is that?
00:40:35.981 --> 00:40:36.702
am I got that right.
00:40:36.702 --> 00:40:37.702
What do you mean by that?
00:40:37.762 --> 00:40:42.489
Because they have these new rules where they're going to charge you if you have too much and they're going to charge you if you have too little.
00:40:42.489 --> 00:40:44.411
It's kind of the Goldilocks program.
00:40:44.411 --> 00:40:49.235
You got to have it just right and I think that they just recently relaxed that it's not going to hit yet.
00:40:51.940 --> 00:40:53.123
I think it's not until later in the year.
00:40:53.123 --> 00:40:54.447
Yeah, I don't know the exact dates.
00:40:54.447 --> 00:41:01.764
On that, I wasn't really too upset about that.
00:41:01.764 --> 00:41:07.862
People are going to think I'm crazy, but I think it's so important for everyone to have a good amount of stock, not overstocked and not understocked.
00:41:07.862 --> 00:41:18.005
If you're understocked, you're hurting your listing because Amazon's not going to want to show you because, first of all, they're going to see, let's say, you have three weeks worth of stock or two weeks worth of stock.
00:41:18.005 --> 00:41:19.891
You're not going to be in all the fulfillment centers.
00:41:20.574 --> 00:41:24.266
So somebody in California is going to try to buy it and it's going to say two day shipping.
00:41:24.266 --> 00:41:26.340
Some guy in New York is going to try to buy it.
00:41:26.340 --> 00:41:30.492
It's going to say seven day shipping or 10 day shipping, like, like I think every.
00:41:30.492 --> 00:41:37.228
I was a little bit excited when I said wow, you know what, and this will get everyone a little bit on their feet to make sure that we have enough stock in amazon.
00:41:37.228 --> 00:41:45.978
And then also, people leave aging inventory in amazon for so long they think it's like a, just like a storage facility.
00:41:45.978 --> 00:41:51.068
No, like, you have aging inventory in amazon, you need to lower your prices a little bit.
00:41:51.068 --> 00:41:51.610
You need to.
00:41:51.990 --> 00:41:58.800
You can't just let it sit there right yeah, but yes, I don't know the exact dates of how, what dates they pushed it off to.
00:41:58.800 --> 00:42:02.284
There definitely was an update that I'm not sure of.
00:42:02.284 --> 00:42:02.563
That.
00:42:02.563 --> 00:42:03.985
I'm not sure of the exact dates.
00:42:04.545 --> 00:42:10.632
Well, definitely, I think a lot of people were nervous about it because it is hard for people to manage it and I get being understocked.
00:42:10.632 --> 00:42:18.041
But I think things like Prime Day people want to jam inventory up there and I think people were a little nervous about it.
00:42:18.041 --> 00:42:21.286
So hopefully that quelled their fears and people are going to ship up there.
00:42:21.286 --> 00:42:34.673
So one of my favorite questions is simply like there's 2 million plus 3P sellers on Amazon today and that's a huge number.
00:42:34.673 --> 00:42:43.791
But I mean there's a small group that make up the you know kind of the tip of the spear but say there's 2 million people on Amazon selling stuff.
00:42:43.791 --> 00:42:51.211
Is it too late for somebody to break in and sell on Amazon and be successful, or do you think there's always room?
00:42:52.940 --> 00:42:54.664
It's definitely not too late.
00:42:54.664 --> 00:43:04.889
I want to put it out there that it's not just an easy passive income type of business where everyone says, throw your stuff up on Amazon, it's so easy, you'll get rich.
00:43:04.889 --> 00:43:05.981
It's not like that.
00:43:05.981 --> 00:43:08.565
It's a regular, it's a real business.
00:43:08.565 --> 00:43:09.588
It's a real business.
00:43:09.889 --> 00:43:11.652
Yep, most businesses fail.
00:43:11.652 --> 00:43:13.724
You have to do everything right.
00:43:13.724 --> 00:43:24.815
But I'll tell you something about Amazon I've never seen a way where somebody could so quickly get their product shown to the world and build up a brand.
00:43:24.815 --> 00:43:31.012
It's the easiest time that it's ever been to really build up a strong brand.
00:43:31.012 --> 00:43:36.067
I'm saying because of Amazon, so I love the Amazon model.
00:43:36.067 --> 00:43:37.646
It's not easy.
00:43:37.780 --> 00:43:39.400
You have to do everything right.
00:43:39.400 --> 00:43:41.061
You have to do all the right things.
00:43:41.061 --> 00:43:45.425
You can't cheapen out by not wanting to run ads.
00:43:45.425 --> 00:43:47.286
You can't cheapen out by saying you know what?
00:43:47.286 --> 00:43:53.429
I can't afford to keep my price a little bit lower in the beginning to show Amazon good conversion rates.
00:43:53.429 --> 00:43:56.692
Or cheapen out with getting crappy photography.
00:43:56.692 --> 00:43:59.673
With getting crappy photography, you need to do the right things.
00:43:59.673 --> 00:44:17.007
But if you do the right things, I really believe you can make so much money on Amazon and, like you said, so many sellers keep signing up and starting to sell on Amazon, but also so many sellers, are losing and closing their businesses every year.
00:44:17.007 --> 00:44:18.646
It's like a regular business.
00:44:18.646 --> 00:44:19.880
It's not too late at year.
00:44:19.880 --> 00:44:20.260
It's like a regular business.
00:44:20.260 --> 00:44:20.922
It's not too late at all.
00:44:21.744 --> 00:44:25.900
That's great, that's inspiring to me for sure, and I'm sure everybody else that's listening.
00:44:25.900 --> 00:44:27.306
So thanks for that.
00:44:27.306 --> 00:44:30.318
And then we're going to start to wrap it up here.
00:44:30.318 --> 00:44:37.331
Any other final words of wisdom for the audience and also a way that people could reach out to you if they need your help.
00:44:41.539 --> 00:44:42.822

00:44:46.947 --> 00:44:47.708
We'd love to chat.
00:44:47.708 --> 00:44:52.856
I just want to let everyone know that it's what we just spoke about a second ago.
00:44:52.856 --> 00:44:55.981
It's so possible to build something strong on Amazon.
00:44:55.981 --> 00:45:04.449
Amazon shares so much information with you on where the sales are coming from, on the conversion rates of your competition.
00:45:04.449 --> 00:45:16.710
They share so much data with you that if you really look at it, or if you have somebody on your team who could look at everything closely and do the right things, you could build a very strong business so quickly.
00:45:16.710 --> 00:45:24.867
And yeah, I wish everyone you know everyone will build up strong and really focus and, you know, scale their Amazon businesses.
00:45:24.867 --> 00:45:28.784
And if you need help, if you need any help, please reach out.
00:45:28.824 --> 00:45:29.688
Yeah, of course.
00:45:29.688 --> 00:45:30.751
Okay, awesome man.
00:45:30.751 --> 00:45:32.065
Well, thank you so much.
00:45:32.065 --> 00:45:33.304
Really good stuff today.
00:45:33.304 --> 00:45:35.045
We can go on forever and talk about this.
00:45:35.045 --> 00:45:39.329
I love this topic and obviously you do too, but time to say goodbye.
00:45:39.329 --> 00:45:42.186
