ABOUT THIS EPISODE
WELCOME BACK MAC! (EPISODE 3) Missed last week due to more McKenry Tech Malfunctions and a trip to Vegas. We have a lot to catch up on, from thoughts on the new rules after about a dozen games in spring, the first couple waves of cuts, the Pirates’ potential starting rotation, missing bats and the magical double play ball. Also their Opening Day lineup and Michael’s thoughts on how the Pirates could have the best left side in baseball ... but at what cost? That’s just a taste of what’s in this episode of Pitching In. Hope you enjoy it. Please send thoughts, comments and reviews.
Overview
This Podcast is a Pittsburgh Pirates- and baseball-themed podcast started by Michael McKenry and Jason Mackey. One with a unique and charitable drive behind it. McKenry and Mackey come at the sport with somewhat opposite perspectives. A catcher with the Rockies, Pirates and Cardinals during a seven-year big league career, plus another five in the minors, McKenry brings the perspective of a former player at the most cerebral position on the field. He also works as a color analyst with AT&T SportsNet as he shifted into a post-playing media role. Mackey, a failed former baseball player who topped out playing NCAA Division III, has covered the Pirates for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since May 2019. He previously spent five years covering the Penguins and has been in journalism since 2007. Pitching In features plenty of in-depth analysis, with at least one host on-site, along with a light-hearted humor about the uniqueness of living a baseball lifestyle. Instead of typical sponsorships, advertisers are featured by making donations to various charities around the Pittsburgh area.
