00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:02.160
Zero miles, weeks happen.
00:00:02.479 --> 00:00:04.000
Market shifts happen.
00:00:04.240 --> 00:00:05.280
Life happens.
00:00:05.440 --> 00:00:14.160
But with a resilient spirit and a strong foundation, strategy is how you adapt and thrive in what you do next.
00:00:53.759 --> 00:00:57.840
Because had I not, I would definitely be feeling it right now.
00:00:58.000 --> 00:01:08.879
But instead, despite everything that has been thrown at me the last few weeks, I am even more focused, inspired, and encouraged.
00:01:09.120 --> 00:01:18.480
So that said, let's get into my journey to 50 Marathon Training Week 7 Debrief.
00:01:18.799 --> 00:01:27.439
So as I briefed last week, October the 16th through the 18th, I spent the weekend celebrating my father's 70th.
00:01:27.519 --> 00:01:29.439
And of course I couldn't miss that.
00:01:29.840 --> 00:01:45.280
Well, that led right into last week where my husband started his first day on his new career journey, which also happens to be two hours away in one of my favorite cities, Savannah, Georgia.
00:01:45.519 --> 00:01:50.079
So last Monday I was up early to see him off.
00:01:50.319 --> 00:01:51.920
Then my week started.
00:01:52.079 --> 00:02:18.400
And this included standing team meetings, facilitating and providing technical assistance for two professional training programs that I manage, a speaking engagement to workforce health and wellness leaders, and simultaneously identified identifying, separating, and consolidating household items, I would be taking to our second home in Georgia.
00:02:18.719 --> 00:02:29.360
And so as I reviewed an increasingly full calendar, I knew I had to find a way for training.
00:02:29.520 --> 00:02:30.319
And I did.
00:02:30.560 --> 00:02:42.560
Amidst all of the responsibilities that I managed, I was able to get in a solid, moderate distance run on Tuesday.
00:02:42.719 --> 00:02:47.120
And a good thing because I literally the rest of the week was a bust.
00:02:47.520 --> 00:02:57.919
However, because of all of the things that I had to accomplish over the course of that week, I ended up logging a ton of walking miles.
00:02:58.400 --> 00:03:02.240
So that week flies by, comes and goes.
00:03:02.479 --> 00:03:15.919
And Friday morning, I am once again up early, packing up the car to then drive the two hours down to Savannah, Georgia to move into and organize our second home.
00:03:16.159 --> 00:03:25.120
And this included lots of walking around, shopping for cleaning supplies, furniture, food, and so on and so forth.
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:29.520
So did it impact my planned training schedule?
00:03:30.080 --> 00:03:31.439
Absolutely.
00:03:31.759 --> 00:03:42.719
But being highly active, um, supporting my husband and creating unforgettable memories was worth every single minute.
00:03:43.919 --> 00:03:58.960
So as I think back, let's examine how this past week impacted my eight dimensions of wellness and then the strategic solutions that I applied to navigate them.
00:03:59.840 --> 00:04:06.800
So first and foremost, travel and moving squeezed out all of my planned long runs.
00:04:07.280 --> 00:04:16.399
And so this was an initial threat to physical conditioning, you know, that was planned for my marathon prep.
00:04:16.639 --> 00:04:28.480
However, one of the things that I took a moment to think about was seeing how easy that run felt compared to the first time that I ran that distance.
00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:33.600
And what this did was it gave me a measurement of progress.
00:04:34.319 --> 00:04:49.680
Needing to recalibrate running volume without risking overuse or injury, I also analyzed training volume and adjusted upcoming long running progression more intelligently.
00:04:49.839 --> 00:04:57.920
And so, though on deviation from strict training, targets could have induced anxiety or feelings of falling behind.
00:05:06.720 --> 00:05:14.480
And so for this one, it was focusing on creating memories which far outweighed temporary schedule adjustments.
00:05:14.800 --> 00:05:37.920
I also maximized my two focus training days, which was the middle distance run as well as core strength training, and then you know, really um leaned in on accumulating high step counts through moving, organizing, and I even had an opportunity for a nice relaxing stroll downtown Savannah.
00:05:38.160 --> 00:05:42.639
I also took this time to really hone in on my nutrition.
00:05:42.720 --> 00:05:54.800
So focusing on hydration and meal prep for the road instead of stopping for fast food and even preparing meals that I could take to our second home.
00:05:57.120 --> 00:06:07.759
And so for corporate translation, think about when schedules shift, adapt the delivery method rather than abandoning physical health initiatives.
00:06:07.920 --> 00:06:15.199
Um, leverage analytical problem solving rather than brute force when project timelines shift.
00:06:15.839 --> 00:06:22.480
Many times you'll find that staying flexible actually sustains momentum.
00:06:22.879 --> 00:06:34.639
Additional, having that psychological safety allows for teams to embrace adjustments, which will happen without that feel of panic or burnout.
00:06:36.879 --> 00:06:48.240
And so, as you can imagine, uh establishing a second home required significant time, energy, and administrative focus.
00:06:48.480 --> 00:06:55.360
Navigating a new city and setting up, you know, residence required immediate, immediate spatial structure.
00:06:55.519 --> 00:07:10.399
And so as I unpacked, structured, and organized our Savannah location, I kept in mind the value of creating a supportive, stress-free environment for us both.
00:07:16.319 --> 00:07:31.920
Supporting my husband's transition and moving into our Savannah home reduced structured training availability, but it provided valuable moments of presence and personal connection.
00:07:32.160 --> 00:07:48.480
And so I just fully embraced supporting my husband during this time without guilt, knowing that being present and nurturing would fuel our bond as well as long-term relational vitality.
00:07:51.040 --> 00:08:06.720
And so for the corporate translation, ensuring that you create healthy, well-structured physical and remote work environments has been shown to directly boost productivity and reduce operational friction.
00:08:07.839 --> 00:08:19.360
Actively preparing and supporting employees through career and life transitions and growth also fosters long-term organizational loyalty.
00:08:19.600 --> 00:08:31.600
It can build strong interpersonal cohesion, trust, and long-term engagement, and can even improve performance measures.
00:08:34.080 --> 00:08:58.080
And so this experience, you know, reinforced my ability to balance and re-prioritize high-level personal goals with my family needs at the time and has allowed me the opportunity to also operate within my value system as I realigned priorities around love, unity, and partnership.
00:08:58.480 --> 00:09:09.840
For the corporate translation, remember mission-driven organizations flourish when core values guide decisions through unpredictable times.
00:09:10.000 --> 00:09:21.120
So it's important for companies to establish company culture of such that attracts and retains top performers and long-term talent.
00:09:21.600 --> 00:09:29.120
So while I only got two structured training days in that week, staying active kept my body moving and my spirit refreshed.
00:09:29.279 --> 00:09:36.159
Plus, I created memories I could reflect on during those 26.2 miles in December.
00:09:36.480 --> 00:09:39.200
What happened that week wasn't failure.
00:09:47.600 --> 00:09:53.679
Once again, you design a master strategy, set the timeline, and then life happens.
00:09:53.840 --> 00:10:08.639
But planning early, communicating consistently, and accounting for the inevitable, establishing a rock solid foundation and reprioritizing what truly matters when setbacks demanded, that is what builds true resilience.
00:10:08.799 --> 00:10:10.879
Zero miles, weeks happen.
00:10:11.200 --> 00:10:12.720
Market shifts happen.
00:10:12.960 --> 00:10:14.000
Life happens.
00:10:14.240 --> 00:10:22.879
But with a resilient spirit and a strong foundation, strategy is how you adapt and thrive in what you do next.
00:10:23.279 --> 00:10:35.679
So if your organization needs help building resilient teams that can pivot through unexpected disruptions without breaking down, head over to Fit for Life and let's talk strategy.
00:10:36.320 --> 00:10:38.879
Once again, I'm Takita Stewart.
00:10:39.279 --> 00:10:44.879
Stay sharp, stay focused, stay healthy, and I'll see you at the finish line.
