ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Pedagotech For English Teachers - Season 1 Episode 5
In 2006, my first salary as an English teacher was the equivalent of about six dollars an hour. Last week, I found out that one of the most respected language schools in my city is currently offering new teachers around seven dollars. One dollar difference over twenty years — and that dollar buys less today than the six did back then.
This episode isn’t a complaint. It’s a calculation. And what the numbers reveal goes far beyond wages — it speaks to how the market understands, or fails to understand, the value of teaching expertise.
