ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome back to PaddyTalks Golf, powered by ForeGolf Custom.
This week I sat down with Patrick Keeling, the 2026 Flogas Irish Men's Amateur Open Champion, plays out of Roganstown, currently on a golf scholarship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
He flew home on a Monday, teed it up on a Thursday, shot a course record 62 on the Friday and holed the winning putt on Sunday afternoon. His name is now on a trophy alongside Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley. Then he drove straight to Portrush the next morning and finished top ten at the North of Ireland. Some week.
We got into the full story and there is a lot in this one. The 62, the faith, Louisville, the family and a dinner table guest list you will not see coming.
In this episode:
⛳ The course record 62 and what was actually going on in his head as the numbers came up on the board
🙏 His faith in Christ and what it looked like standing over a 12 foot putt to win a national championship, including a parable from the Bible that has become his entire framework on the course
🇺🇸 The real story of adjusting to college golf in America, a broken wrist in year one, a rude awakening in competition and what Louisville has genuinely done to his game and his head
🏆 Sitting at the kitchen table with the Irish Amateur trophy and running his finger over those names
🏌️ Driving straight to Portrush the morning after winning and what it takes to reset when there is no time to breathe
👨👩👦 The Keeling family, brother Sean on scholarship at Texas Tech, sister Alanna competing at Grand Prix showjumping level
🍳 The sourdough, scrambled eggs and black pudding breakfast that won a national championship
