Packers Total Access: Packer Fans Sound Off With Their Approval Ratings! Do The Packers Have An ELITE Edge Room?
Three weeks ago, Packers fan confidence was at rock bottom. Acme Packing Company’s weekly confidence index sat at just 11 percent after the 35-14 Falcons loss, climbed to 24 percent after the win in Tampa, and has now jumped to 59 percent after the Bears blowout and the Cowboys win. Two-thirds of the readers surveyed now expect the Packers to make the playoffs, and Green Bay currently holds the #5 seed in the early NFC picture. The Packers also sit at the top of Next Gen Stats’ pressure rate list through Week 6 at 41.2 percent, all while Micah Parsons is still on the PUP list. So fans have clearly changed their minds. The bigger question is whether the edge group carrying that pressure rate is actually elite.
In this complete fan approval rating and edge room breakdown, we dive into:
- The Approval Ratings, Week By Week: Acme Packing Company’s confidence index went from 11 percent to 24 percent to 59 percent in three weeks. SB Nation Reacts had 58.6 percent of 191 voters answering “yes” when asked if they are confident in the Packers, with 41.4 percent saying “no.” Before the Bears game, 60 percent of fans expected a losing divisional record, and only 12 percent expected a winning one.
- Fans Versus The Oddsmakers: FanDuel had Green Bay’s playoff odds at +156 after the Bears win. Before Week 1 they were around -150, and they bottomed out near +240 during the early slump. In the Arrowhead Pride power rankings, the Packers jumped ten spots, from 26th to 16th. Fans are more optimistic than the books right now, and the gap between them is what makes this poll fun to track.
- The Edge Room Case, Starting With Lukas Van Ness: Van Ness had three tackles, a sack, and five pressures per Next Gen Stats against Dallas, and PFF credited him with a team-high six. He played a unit-high 43 snaps, lined up as both an edge and a three-technique to cover for the depth issues inside, and dropped into coverage seven times. Back in Week 2 he had a career-high nine pressures against the Jets, and Green Bay already picked up his 2027 fifth-year option at $13.8 million.
- Dani Dennis-Sutton, Barryn Sorrell, And Brenton Cox Jr.: Dennis-Sutton had a team-high six pressures per Next Gen Stats, a 22.7 percent pressure rate that is 8.56 percent above the NFL average, and a 2.67-second average time to pressure. Sorrell had a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits after entering the game with the fewest pressures of any Packers edge, and Cox played 39 snaps. The snap split was Van Ness 43, Sorrell 40, Cox 39, and Dennis-Sutton 36, which is a true rotation with no single player carrying the group.
- Gannon’s Scheme Plus The Numbers On Dak Prescott: Prescott was pressured 21 times, a 37.5 percent pressure rate, and hit seven times. The Packers blitzed on 35.71 percent of snaps and pressured 41.07 percent of dropbacks. The honest caveat is that Van Ness had the only sack, and a roughing-the-passer call on him wiped out an interception.
- So Is It Elite? The pressure rate, the depth, and the way four different edges contributed all point to a strong group. The sack numbers and a lot of the blitz-driven pressure are what keep it from the elite label for now. Micah Parsons, who is still not practicing, is the piece that would move this group from very good to feared.
