Packers Total Access: 🏈 It's On Now! The Comments That Just Took The Packers vs. Bears Rivalry To The Next Level!

The greatest and most heated rivalry in professional football history just got turned up to an entirely new level — and the comments flying between Green Bay and Chicago this week are the most entertaining, most revealing, and most championship-defining pre-game storyline of the entire 2026 NFL season! Ben Johnson went viral after the January Wild Card game with the most inflammatory coaching speech in recent NFL history — posted directly to the Bears' own official X account — screaming "F*** the Packers! F*** them! Bleeping hate those guys!" in the locker room celebration after Chicago erased an 18-point halftime deficit to beat Green Bay in the Wild Card round. When asked about it afterward, Johnson refused to back off: "There's a rivalry that exists between these two teams, something that I fully recognize and I'm a part of. And, yeah, I just, I don't like that team." LaFleur was asked Monday why he doesn't engage in rivalry trash talk publicly the way Ben Johnson does — and his response was the most diplomatically pointed thing he has said all season: "Because this game is about players, and so we'll keep it about the players. I'm not the one out there. They're playing. Don't get me wrong. I love the rivalry. It's awesome, it's great, it's intense." NFL fans immediately ripped LaFleur as "soft" and said "Ben Johnson ruined him." And then the most perfect individual subplot of the entire Packers-Bears Week 5 build-up arrived: Caleb Williams — the injured Bears quarterback sitting on his couch watching Packers Twitter — LIKED the Matt Schneidman post that included LaFleur's quote. Packers insider Schneidman's reaction: "I certainly took it as the latter. I kinda respect that Caleb Williams is just one of us. On Packers Twitter during his downtime."

In this complete it's-on-now rivalry comments breakdown and full Week 5 stakes evaluation, we dive into:

• Ben Johnson's "F* The Packers" — The Comment That Changed Everything:** Johnson became the most talked-about coach in the entire NFC North when the Bears posted his Wild Card locker room speech to their own official X account — screaming "F*** the Packers! F*** them! Bleeping hate those guys!" after erasing an 18-point halftime deficit to end Green Bay's 2025 season. When asked about the backlash, Johnson refused to apologize or walk it back: "There's a rivalry that exists between these two teams, something that I fully recognize and I'm a part of. I just don't like that team." Bears wide receiver Luther Burden said of Johnson heading into Week 5: "I feel like he wants to beat them really bad, like everybody else in the room, every Chicago fan." Eight months later, Johnson is on the exact same page — and the most emotionally charged coaching rivalry in the NFC North is coming to Lambeau Field on Sunday morning.
• LaFleur's Subtle Jab — The High Road Is Still A Jab: LaFleur's response was not nearly as innocent as the national media is portraying it. When asked why he doesn't engage in public trash talk like Ben Johnson, LaFleur said "because this game is about the players, and so we'll keep it about the players. I'm not the one out there. They're playing." That is a direct, pointed, and dismissive reference to Johnson's approach — the coaching equivalent of saying "I'll let my players do the talking" while staring directly at the opponent. LaFleur also made sure to note: "They're the defending North champions. So what a great opportunity, great challenge for us in our home stadium to play against the defending champs." The needle is being used. It is just being used more subtly.
• Caleb Williams On Packers Twitter — The Most Entertaining Individual Storyline Of The Week: Williams was seen liking a post on X from Packers insider Matt Schneidman that featured LaFleur's quote about avoiding public trash talk — and Schneidman's observation that the injured Bears quarterback was browsing Packers Twitter during his downtime may be the most humanizing and perfectly timed social media moment of the entire 2026 rivalry. Whether Williams liked the post because he found LaFleur's answer amusing, because he respects the high road, or because he was trolling the Packers from his couch with a Grade 2 hamstring — we will never know. But the image of the NFL's most famous injured quarterback spending his recovery time on Packers Twitter is the most perfect encapsulation of how deeply this rivalry runs for everyone involved.
• The Bears Are 3-2 And Riding Momentum: The Bears won 23-12 over the New York Jets in Week 4 with Bagent starting — the second consecutive convincing win for a Chicago team that Ben Johnson has clearly not allowed to drift despite losing its franchise quarterback. The Bears enter Lambeau at 3-2 as the defending NFC North champions — with an offensive line that is one of the best in the conference, a defense that held the Jets to 12 points, and a head coach who has made it unmistakably clear how much this game means to him personally. The Packers are 2-2 and coming off a survival win at Tampa Bay. This is not a game between equals on paper right now — but it is a rivalry, and rivalries make paper irrelevant.
• Why Sunday Is The Most Important Game Of The Packers' Season: A Packers win at Lambeau against the defending NFC North champions with Kevin Zeitler starting his first game in green and gold, with Caleb Williams watching from the couch, and with Ben Johnson's "I hate those guys" energy filling the entire week would be the single most character-defining victory of the Matt LaFleur era. The championship window is 2-2, angry, and about to play the most important home game since the 2023 NFC North clincher. LaFleur says this game is about the players. Jordan Love says "give me some time to pick the defense apart." And Ben Johnson says he hates these guys. Sunday at Lambeau. Noon CT. The oldest rivalry in professional football. It's on.
