00:00:18.882 --> 00:00:22.852
Dr Joseph DiRuzzo and the Optimal Human Experience Podcast.
00:00:23.480 --> 00:00:31.013
Welcome to episode 15 of the Optimal Human Experience Podcast with Dr Joseph DiRuzzo.
00:00:31.013 --> 00:00:36.107
I'm Paul, andrew, and today, what are we going to talk about, joe?
00:00:37.320 --> 00:00:45.854
We're going to talk about neurohormones serotonin, adopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins and kephalins.
00:00:47.204 --> 00:00:51.603
I was just about to say that, I was just thinking that Easy for you to say.
00:00:53.862 --> 00:00:56.389
You know, these are big things in the news these days.
00:00:56.389 --> 00:01:03.451
People are depressed and they take drugs that are called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
00:01:03.451 --> 00:01:21.207
Yes, and what that does is it concentrates serotonin in the inner synaptic cleft, and if you don't have proper balance, if you don't have the Optimal Human Experience, the people walk around and they look so sad.
00:01:21.207 --> 00:01:39.740
So I was thinking about these neurohormones and I decided let's do a presentation on each and every one of them, one at a time, and let's talk about dopamine today, and it has to do with rewards, satisfaction, motivation and dopamine.
00:01:39.740 --> 00:01:44.632
If the system is not working optimally, people have problems.
00:01:44.632 --> 00:01:48.608
Apparently, it's easy to get addicted to your own dopamine.
00:01:48.608 --> 00:01:57.706
People who play computer games are constantly looking for a way to make the bells ring and the buzzers go off, and so they can have a reward.
00:01:58.207 --> 00:02:02.986
Do you know, crush that candy, crush that candy, crush it.
00:02:03.167 --> 00:02:09.503
Crush it and they get a reward, and then they go back for more, and they go back for more, and they go back for more.
00:02:09.503 --> 00:02:22.108
And you know, in rats they figured out how to put an electrode in a rat's brain in such a way that if it touched a lever it got a little electricity into the pleasure center in the brain.
00:02:22.108 --> 00:02:28.980
So you see that, with kids sitting in front of their computers for hour after hour after hour.
00:02:28.980 --> 00:02:35.772
So I thought, you know, there's possible that I had a disturbance in my dopamine system.
00:02:35.772 --> 00:02:41.132
So I just thought about all right, so how could we rectify the dopamine system?
00:02:41.132 --> 00:02:48.746
Well, first of all we would have to elicit a response that hopefully would have to do with dopamine secretion.
00:02:48.746 --> 00:02:49.742
So I thought about it.
00:02:49.742 --> 00:02:58.633
I came up with three experiences that I had, but they were for somebody else.
00:02:58.819 --> 00:03:15.131
My little Italian grandmother used to roll out dough and she would make it just the right thickness and she would slice that dough into noodles and she would cook the noodles, and then she cleaned the house and she just absolutely loved being in the kitchen.
00:03:15.131 --> 00:03:17.525
The kitchen was her domain.
00:03:17.525 --> 00:03:18.147
She loved it.
00:03:18.147 --> 00:03:23.532
She made all kinds of wonderful food and that was like a dopamine palace for her.
00:03:23.532 --> 00:03:26.902
She loved it, and my mother.
00:03:26.902 --> 00:03:28.989
She used to love to make ceramics.
00:03:28.989 --> 00:03:45.302
In the sixties there was a period of time when making ceramics was a fad and she got a kiln and she fired, she made, poured clay into molds and made cookie jars and salt and pepper shakers.
00:03:45.302 --> 00:03:54.228
I was probably eight or 10 years old at the time and I remember the reward that she got, the reward that she got.
00:03:54.228 --> 00:03:56.271
She did this for a reward.
00:03:57.300 --> 00:04:16.088
My father was a bit of an engineer and he was a carpenter and there was a creek that ran behind our house and the creek had eroded the bed, the creek bed on one side, and so he got a bunch of railroad ties.
00:04:16.088 --> 00:04:20.908
Railroad ties are big, thick pieces of lumber.
00:04:20.908 --> 00:04:33.365
He made a bank, he back filled it in with rock and dirt and he just had a wonderful time exercising his dopamine circuit.
00:04:33.365 --> 00:04:37.569
So I thought about various things and I came up with a few for myself.
00:04:37.569 --> 00:04:44.052
These are individual and I decided to anchor those.
00:04:44.052 --> 00:04:46.848
Now let me let's talk a little bit about anchoring.
00:04:46.848 --> 00:04:50.170
Okay, just just just to review.
00:04:50.439 --> 00:05:09.168
So the your, your thought process here is hey, there are all these kids out here, dopamine and adults doing these video things on their computers, their phones, seeking this dopamine hit after dopamine, hit after dopamine hit.
00:05:09.168 --> 00:05:23.545
You looked into yourself and thought because I can't imagine you sitting and playing a video game for any length of time no, I don't do that, homie, homie, don't play that.
00:05:23.545 --> 00:05:28.509
No, so so so you're thinking all right, but there's something here.
00:05:28.509 --> 00:05:40.547
And looking for, what you found were examples from other people's lives that you had experienced them, getting extreme satisfaction.
00:05:40.547 --> 00:05:47.326
And that's what the dopamine comes from completing something or doing something that provides extreme satisfaction.
00:05:47.326 --> 00:05:48.002
Is that the idea?
00:05:48.660 --> 00:06:01.437
It's satisfaction, it's motivation, it's feelings of success and if you're if you're good at modeling, you can look at a person who's experiencing a given internal emotional state and you can hallucinate.
00:06:01.437 --> 00:06:05.024
How would I feel if I was this person?
00:06:05.024 --> 00:06:08.899
How would I feel if I was this person experiencing this in this way?
00:06:08.899 --> 00:06:11.625
What would it be like for me?
00:06:12.065 --> 00:06:12.987
to experience that.
00:06:12.987 --> 00:06:19.452
So essentially every action movie, that's what the action movie is doing.
00:06:19.452 --> 00:06:27.829
Is you're thinking, oh, if I were Spider-Man, I would squirt the web onto that building and swing through?
00:06:27.829 --> 00:06:29.858
So you're imagining that this is you.
00:06:30.841 --> 00:06:32.345
And that sells more movies.
00:06:32.345 --> 00:06:42.007
I mean the comment most men lead lives of quiet desperation until they watch Spider-Man and then, or Thor, they become Thor.
00:06:42.007 --> 00:06:53.244
So yeah, you have a library in your endocrine system of all these various neurohormones and you can elicit them and bring them out.
00:06:53.244 --> 00:06:55.254
But let's talk a little bit about anchoring.
00:06:55.254 --> 00:06:59.923
One time John Gender said to me, one of the founders of NLP.
00:06:59.923 --> 00:07:06.644
He said you can achieve almost any behavioral gain with anchoring, kinesthetic anchoring he was talking about.
00:07:06.644 --> 00:07:19.779
So when Pavlov had the dogs in the laboratory and he put food in front of them and they salivated and he rang a bell in the background, his timing was just right.
00:07:19.779 --> 00:07:23.487
The dogs were in full salivation mode.
00:07:23.487 --> 00:07:30.706
Then when he rang the bell, they pop right back into full salivation mode.
00:07:30.706 --> 00:07:39.630
So in order to do a proper anchor Pavlovian stimulus response reflects arc you have to, number one, elicit the response.
00:07:39.630 --> 00:07:44.908
I got a feeling of satisfaction thinking about my little Italian grandmother.
00:07:44.908 --> 00:07:51.048
I got a feeling of satisfaction thinking about my mom and a feeling of satisfaction and what they were experiencing.
00:07:51.048 --> 00:07:53.877
That's eliciting the response.
00:07:53.877 --> 00:07:58.995
The stronger the you elicit the response, the better you're going to have in terms of success.
00:07:58.995 --> 00:08:04.024
The second thing is you have to insert a discrete stimulus.
00:08:04.024 --> 00:08:09.418
In Pavlov's laboratory it was the ringing of the bell.
00:08:09.418 --> 00:08:18.098
And then the third thing is you have to replicate the stimulus precisely to get the response.
00:08:18.098 --> 00:08:30.805
So Pavlov held the bell three feet away and four feet off the floor and he rang the bell from exactly the same direction and the dogs.
00:08:30.805 --> 00:08:36.504
Then that would constitute a good anchor and you can use that.
00:08:36.504 --> 00:08:38.270
You can use the ringing of the bell.
00:08:38.831 --> 00:08:46.249
One of the best things that I use and help people with is I say get ready to hold your thumb, get ready to squeeze your thumb.
00:08:46.249 --> 00:08:51.203
The thumb has got a huge representation neurologically in the brain.
00:08:51.203 --> 00:08:54.316
So I'll say get a feeling of being happy.
00:08:54.316 --> 00:09:07.285
Once they get into that feeling of being happy, I have them squeeze their thumb and hold it and then I say let your thumb go before you get out of the feeling of happiness.
00:09:07.285 --> 00:09:11.057
Why, you want the timing to be right.
00:09:11.057 --> 00:09:14.345
You want them to get into the feeling of happiness.
00:09:14.345 --> 00:09:22.677
Squeeze their thumb, let that squeeze go before they get out of the feeling, so that you have a discrete identifier.
00:09:22.677 --> 00:09:23.619
So all right.
00:09:23.619 --> 00:09:27.668
So get a feeling of a time when you felt motivated, successful.
00:09:27.668 --> 00:09:31.003
You know you've been playing video games and you won.
00:09:32.206 --> 00:09:33.792
I crushed the candy.
00:09:33.792 --> 00:09:34.934
I crushed the candy.
00:09:35.817 --> 00:09:38.927
And you get that feeling, squeeze your thumb and let go.
00:09:38.927 --> 00:09:54.004
You have identified, you make you would make a diagram of a plateau before, during and then after, and make sure you squeeze your thumb while you're fully in that emotional state.
00:09:54.004 --> 00:09:55.828
Okay, all right.
00:09:55.828 --> 00:09:58.095
And then the for dopamine.
00:09:58.095 --> 00:10:00.701
It's feelings of motivation, satisfaction.
00:10:00.701 --> 00:10:03.407
It's a very powerful hormone.
00:10:03.407 --> 00:10:12.186
Serotonin is more about happiness and dopamine is more about accomplishment and success.
00:10:13.649 --> 00:10:19.826
So what I did for myself and I've had people say to me you're never satisfied, you're never satisfied.
00:10:19.826 --> 00:10:29.188
Well, you can take that as a compliment, but you can also take it as a less than optimal functioning of the dopamine circuit.
00:10:29.188 --> 00:10:46.291
So I got a good anchor for dopamine and then I put my head down and I put my arms up near my face I assumed the prenatal pattern took a deep breath, let it out and fired off the anchor for dopamine secretion.
00:10:46.291 --> 00:10:52.047
And I can tell you it just gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.
00:10:52.047 --> 00:10:57.346
But it seemed to take an edge off of my personality.
00:10:58.898 --> 00:11:09.083
I have in the past always been striving, striving, striving, striving, striving, tremendous motivation, but I did not ever really have a sense of success.
00:11:09.083 --> 00:11:21.783
I've had people say to me well, you should do so and so, and I'd say, well, I'm not quite ready yet, and they say you're the most accomplished person we know in this category, but I didn't have an adequate feeling of success.
00:11:21.783 --> 00:11:31.758
Now I believe that with this technique I have developed a more optimal function of my dopamine circuit so that I can feel success.
00:11:31.758 --> 00:11:36.682
I can feel satisfaction, I can feel motivation and it's a good, healthy feeling.
00:11:36.682 --> 00:11:42.126
It's I'm feeling dopamine and I'm feeling it all in a good way.
00:11:42.126 --> 00:11:43.698
Does that make sense to you?
00:11:44.115 --> 00:12:03.899
Yeah, and so and so the process was you set for each of the situations that you remembered, your grandmother with the homemade, handmade, hand cut spaghetti your mother with, and she went sounds like she went full bore with this.
00:12:03.899 --> 00:12:05.424
I mean she had her own kiln.
00:12:05.424 --> 00:12:11.864
She had all of the stuff and she's doing all of this stuff at home and this is her source of extreme happiness.
00:12:11.864 --> 00:12:16.326
So she saw this, she made she made great big cookie jars.
00:12:16.414 --> 00:12:19.465
You know they were probably a foot tall and 12 inches across.
00:12:19.465 --> 00:12:28.325
She made Christmas trees that you could put a light inside and it had little holes and you put little plastic stars in the holes.
00:12:28.325 --> 00:12:34.327
I mean she made a prior tuck, salt and pepper shakers, all kinds of stuff.
00:12:34.327 --> 00:12:38.014
It was about 1965, I'd say or 1960 ish.
00:12:38.014 --> 00:12:41.184
It was a fan and women went crazy over it.
00:12:41.184 --> 00:12:45.746
They opened ceramic shops and she was right in there doing ceramic.
00:12:45.835 --> 00:12:49.198
She loved it, she loved it, you saw this, and so you.
00:12:49.198 --> 00:13:00.360
You brought this emotional state back, and at the peak of that emotional state, you were using the thumb as an anchor for setting the anchor on these.
00:13:00.735 --> 00:13:01.820
Yes, same thing with them.
00:13:02.235 --> 00:13:03.240
Same thing with your father.
00:13:03.240 --> 00:13:12.769
So you have these three separate instances that brought this extreme sense of satisfaction and reward.
00:13:14.174 --> 00:13:32.187
And then you said you went into the prenatal position in the prenatal state and, like, just imagined yourself Floating gently in the, in the, in the, in the amniotic fluid, and I fired off the anchor and my experiences I have just it, it, it healed.
00:13:32.187 --> 00:13:36.366
It was a healing, and I don't usually use that word.
00:13:36.366 --> 00:13:39.554
My mother had, you know, a terrible sense of not being satisfied.
00:13:39.554 --> 00:13:41.342
But here's a question for you.
00:13:41.342 --> 00:13:50.628
Imagine a person is prenatal little embryo floating in the amniotic fluid and they are not receiving enough glucose.
00:13:50.628 --> 00:13:56.715
Their mother has gotten distracted, she's not eating, she's watching TV or she's making ceramics.
00:13:57.625 --> 00:13:58.515
She's made whatever, whatever.
00:13:59.960 --> 00:14:07.379
And and so this little embryo sends a signal up the in, up the umbilical cord, says Mom, send me some glucose, send me some to eat.
00:14:07.740 --> 00:14:07.921
Hey.
00:14:07.961 --> 00:14:19.447
Ma, what happens if this, if the, if she is paying attention to something else, and that cry for a little nutrition is goes unheeded?
00:14:19.447 --> 00:14:21.541
Well, somebody's not too happy.
00:14:21.541 --> 00:14:25.259
Well, that lead us to a sense of frustration.
00:14:25.259 --> 00:14:30.345
How about if there is not enough Oxygen in the blood?
00:14:30.345 --> 00:14:37.236
It's the less than the optimal level, and a little signal is sent up the umbilical cord.
00:14:37.236 --> 00:14:39.481
Mom, take a deep breath, move around a little bit.
00:14:39.481 --> 00:14:41.787
I've got blood stagnation down here in.
00:14:41.787 --> 00:14:45.193
The cry for a little more oxygen goes unheeded.
00:14:45.193 --> 00:14:49.912
Would that person tend to develop a set point for dopamine?
00:14:49.912 --> 00:14:53.200
That was less than optimal.
00:14:54.643 --> 00:14:54.984
Okay.
00:14:54.984 --> 00:15:09.452
So what you're saying is there are set points for well really we were discussing earlier really for just about anything, but especially emotional states or even physical state, there's some set point.
00:15:09.452 --> 00:15:09.913
That's the.
00:15:09.913 --> 00:15:13.844
That's where you're building from.
00:15:13.844 --> 00:15:16.530
So the embryo wants some.
00:15:16.530 --> 00:15:18.856
Hey, ma, send me some glucose.
00:15:18.856 --> 00:15:26.553
And she's busy Making her ceramics and doesn't eat, and and the baby's like okay, I'm not too happy here.
00:15:27.221 --> 00:15:28.663
What happens to the reward.
00:15:28.663 --> 00:15:34.073
You know the baby attempted to do something and did not receive a reward.
00:15:34.073 --> 00:15:48.552
That will tend to establish a set point, and if it occurs in blood glucose and it occurs in blood oxygen levels, that seems to me to be an ideal situation to develop a disturbance in the dopamine system.
00:15:49.422 --> 00:15:50.423
It makes perfect sense.
00:15:50.423 --> 00:15:54.472
Okay, we're about halfway through about 15 minutes in this.

00:16:11.346 --> 00:16:42.519
I, however, right now want to get rewarded by getting back into this discussion about dopamine, because Now it seems like what you did with your process, with your memories of your mother and your grandmother and your father and other things you've done, that you'd felt a sense of satisfaction by using the prenatal technique, imagining yourself floating in the amniotic fluid, firing off those anchors.
00:16:42.519 --> 00:16:47.663
It shifted your current experience.
00:16:47.663 --> 00:16:49.166
Did I hear that right?
00:16:50.028 --> 00:16:51.269
It is the darndest thing.
00:16:51.269 --> 00:16:53.693
You know, we talk about set points.
00:16:53.693 --> 00:17:02.767
But you have a person who's 65 years old and I'll say to them you know what's your biggest problem?
00:17:02.767 --> 00:17:09.724
They'll say I feeling feelings of inadequacy, or I don't feel I'm adequately Rewarded, or I'm always dissatisfied.
00:17:09.724 --> 00:17:14.273
And I'll say, all right, well, it's probably something having to do with your prenatal experience.
00:17:14.273 --> 00:17:18.590
Put your head down and let's see if we can retrieve a prenatal memory.
00:17:18.590 --> 00:17:22.517
And of course they go no, that was 60 years ago, that was, that was a lie.
00:17:22.517 --> 00:17:23.279
I've forgotten all of it.
00:17:23.279 --> 00:17:24.223
I can't remember that.
00:17:24.223 --> 00:17:27.619
I'll say, all right, well, put your head down and try it anyways.
00:17:27.619 --> 00:17:30.599
And they go well, all right, but this is crazy, it's not gonna work.
00:17:30.599 --> 00:17:31.663
I know it's not gonna work.
00:17:31.663 --> 00:17:32.688
The mini.
00:17:32.748 --> 00:17:45.247
And they, the minute they put their head down and lowered their head so that their eyes go below the horizon, they'll go oh, my mother doesn't want the pregnancy and she's in denial and she's not thinking about me and it's in it.
00:17:45.247 --> 00:17:48.883
And that is a set point for report.
00:17:48.883 --> 00:17:50.548
Deprivation sickness.
00:17:50.548 --> 00:17:52.983
Report deprivation syndrome.
00:17:52.983 --> 00:18:16.992
They develop the complex generalization inside of the deepest Levels of the nervous system, way down in the reptilian brain the thalamus, the hypothalamus, the brain stem, the lenticular nucleus, the amygdala, all of those phylogenetic, ancient, ancient, ancient Neurological structures, and they'll get the complex generalization that I'm not wanted.
00:18:16.992 --> 00:18:25.344
And and if the mother is really in denial about being pregnant, they'll get they'll.
00:18:25.344 --> 00:18:27.248
That is their set point.
00:18:27.248 --> 00:18:30.193
They will go through life feeling like they're not wanted.
00:18:31.320 --> 00:18:38.310
So one of the easiest ways to deal with this Is to reset that set point Mm-hmm.
00:18:38.310 --> 00:18:43.105
And one of the ways I'll do it is I'll say tell me, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:18:43.105 --> 00:18:46.685
That's one of the common ones Mm-hmm, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:18:46.685 --> 00:18:48.270
And they'll say, oh, I'm not supposed to be it.
00:18:48.270 --> 00:18:48.941
They'll cry.
00:18:48.941 --> 00:19:00.553
People will cry, especially if they're really into the emotions that they were experiencing way back During that, that period of their life, the prenatal period, and they'll say I'm not supposed to be here.
00:19:00.553 --> 00:19:04.068
And I'll say say it three times, right, to convince your mechanism.
00:19:04.068 --> 00:19:07.346
They'll say I'm not supposed to be here, I'm not supposed to be here, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:19:07.346 --> 00:19:16.435
And then I say Say, but as long as I'm here, I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:16.435 --> 00:19:31.220
And they'll say a Big sigh will come out as they blow off carbon dioxide and the sympathetic and the Parasympathetic nervous systems begin to normalize and they'll say as long as I'm here, I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:31.220 --> 00:19:37.384
I'm not supposed to be here, but as long as I'm here I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:37.724 --> 00:19:52.324
And for many, many, many people, that is a turning point, that is a pivotal moment and they begin to accept their, their humanity, the fact that they're here, that they're alive, that they have a wonderful life or an opportunity To have a wonderful life.
00:19:52.324 --> 00:19:55.961
And for many people you know people talk about Healing.
00:19:55.961 --> 00:20:01.920
They're right and this is a form of healing and it's consistent, reliable.
00:20:01.920 --> 00:20:10.944
It is in my experience, if I do my job right, mother nature and their body will go into a healing mode and They'll.
00:20:10.944 --> 00:20:16.508
They will shake and shiver for a couple minutes and when they come out of it, they're a different person I.
00:20:16.508 --> 00:20:44.385
So we have some marvelous tools this prenatal re-imprinting is only one of them but understanding pavlovian stimulus response reflexes and utilizing anchors deliberately to reeducate your nervous system so that you become more likely to experience the optimal human experience.
00:20:44.385 --> 00:21:00.320
You have good friends, you go after things and you get them, you're rewarded, you have status, you have freedom, self-expression, you have resources, you have all good things, you have a balance in your life, the optimal human experience.
00:21:02.050 --> 00:21:32.839
And you have to conclude that resetting, adjusting that set point for dopamine response, for example, doing that naturally from that beginning state, even though it's imagined, even though it's 60, 70 years later, or 20 or 30 or however long it's been since the person was prenatal, it's got to be better than crushing the candy on the phone.
00:21:34.832 --> 00:21:37.298
You know, when all else fails, take thorazine.
00:21:37.298 --> 00:21:41.337
You know it won't feel better, you just won't feel as bad.
00:21:41.337 --> 00:21:51.057
But, what comes up over and over again in my mind is the memory of that biker guy who had all leather and anything.
00:21:51.057 --> 00:21:56.041
We did a prenatal session and then after he said, can I give you a hug?
00:21:56.041 --> 00:21:58.436
That was the last thing I expected.
00:22:00.090 --> 00:22:07.249
Yeah that was the amazing thing about the prenatal technique is the memories.
00:22:07.249 --> 00:22:14.464
Whenever we have the opportunity to confirm or deny a memory, invariably I'll send people.
00:22:14.464 --> 00:22:20.653
I'll say who would know what your mother was going through at this time in her life when you were prenatal?
00:22:20.653 --> 00:22:30.522
And they'll say, well, my aunt or my uncle or my neighbor, and they'll go and talk to them and they'll come back and they will usually be shaken right to their core, right to their toenails.
00:22:30.522 --> 00:22:32.073
They'll say that is actually.
00:22:32.073 --> 00:22:46.176
I had a psychologist say to me this is not a metaphor, this is not a parable, a simile, a story, and as if this is actually what happened during this person's prenatal experience.
00:22:46.176 --> 00:23:07.076
And, remarkable as it is, the material, the information is in there and you can identify and elicit these prenatal memories and you can alter the complex generalizations of physiology and you end up with the more happiness and more joy, more satisfaction in your life, the optimal human experience.
00:23:07.971 --> 00:23:26.895
Well, and I can, I've said this before you did a session with one of my daughters and she related something that was going on and recounted an argument that I hadn't thought of and what I think.
00:23:26.895 --> 00:23:29.020
She was around 18 or 19 at the time.
00:23:29.020 --> 00:23:44.622
I hadn't thought of it in 18, 19 years, but it was an argument that her mother and I had when she was prenatal, around two, three months old, maybe four, two, three months old.
00:23:44.622 --> 00:23:50.701
I remembered the argument because she recounted some of the specific things that were said.
00:23:50.701 --> 00:23:52.451
I'm thinking.
00:23:52.451 --> 00:23:56.702
I'm thinking, hold on a minute, you weren't there.
00:23:56.702 --> 00:24:03.355
Oh yeah, I guess you were there and it was, you know.
00:24:03.355 --> 00:24:09.996
Yet another shocking, shocking example of okay, I guess there is maybe something to this stuff here.
00:24:10.829 --> 00:24:16.131
If we take as a formal dogma the prenatal concept, you know, a sperm meets an unfertilized egg.
00:24:16.131 --> 00:24:26.539
They come together, make a fertilized ovum that divides into two cells, four cells, eight cells, 16 cells, and when it reaches the 32 cell stage it's called a blastula.
00:24:26.539 --> 00:24:33.680
The blastula begins to spread out toward what will be the head and what will be the feet and immediately forms the neural plate.
00:24:33.680 --> 00:24:37.799
The first differentiated tissue of the human body is nervous tissue.
00:24:37.799 --> 00:25:01.134
At that point personality structure begins to be laid down as a series of simple Pavlovian stimulus response reflexes, and all of the problems that we have later on in life, without exception, are the end result of maladaptive reflexes established in the prenatal period under conditions of maternal or fetal distress.
00:25:01.134 --> 00:25:04.938
And that is roughly the truth.
00:25:04.938 --> 00:25:15.417
It seems like we have some kind of extremely primitive pre-conscious consciousness even before the formation of the neural plate.
00:25:16.410 --> 00:25:30.680
And there's a tremendous amount of research that needs to be done, but the bottom line is that the prenatal period and the early childhood, the prenatal period and the early childhood development, are most, most influence.
00:25:30.680 --> 00:25:35.712
They really establish the direction, the trajectory for your life.
00:25:35.712 --> 00:25:40.936
So prenatal re-imprinting uber-olus.
00:25:42.058 --> 00:25:47.388
Well, when you think about it, you've got these cells that you started out with.
00:25:47.388 --> 00:25:58.421
One cell and it's dividing, and each of those cells have these cell receptor sites that are looking for something to dock in there.
00:25:58.421 --> 00:26:00.868
Okay, neurotransmitters, come on.
00:26:00.868 --> 00:26:01.369
Come on.
00:26:01.369 --> 00:26:01.832
Come on.
00:26:01.832 --> 00:26:04.300
You want the happy ones or you want the sad ones?
00:26:04.300 --> 00:26:05.163
Well, what do we got?
00:26:05.826 --> 00:26:07.292
Well, mom, and dad are fighting.
00:26:07.334 --> 00:26:08.036
Yeah, what's there?
00:26:08.036 --> 00:26:16.528
So there and it's not just the negative things that are plugged in at that point.
00:26:16.528 --> 00:26:45.904
I mean, with the Wonder Baby program that you developed, it's very possible to create a situation where the baby, the embryo, has installed the good neurotransmitters, the happy feelings, as opposed to I am no one I remember that.
00:26:45.904 --> 00:26:47.227
Oh, I remember that.
00:26:47.227 --> 00:26:47.949
Oh, my gosh.
00:26:49.570 --> 00:27:03.907
So we have a wonderful set of tools and I invite people to use them and learn and have fun and redesign your life, reconfigure your life, make your life the best that you can make it, make it the optimal human experience for you.
00:27:07.077 --> 00:27:47.326
Yeah, and just from personal experience I go back to that initial situation where the presentation I went to the guys next to me he's wheezing, sounds like he just came out of the coal mines in West Virginia with black lung disease and you did a little meditation with him and and on my mother, he stops wheezing, he stops wheezing.
00:27:49.148 --> 00:27:51.811
So you know all of these set points.
00:27:51.811 --> 00:28:01.537
What goes on inside of the bones when some people become osteoporotic and get osteoporosis, other people don't?
00:28:01.537 --> 00:28:06.208
What happens when people have kidney failure early in life and other people don't?
00:28:06.208 --> 00:28:17.986
How many of these internal set points are there and right for all these different systems, all the different systems for all the different systems.
00:28:17.986 --> 00:28:20.234
This is ongoing research that we need to do.
00:28:21.376 --> 00:28:32.739
Well, and you know, people poo poo anecdotal evidence, but when it's your anecdote, it can't get much more personal than that.
00:28:32.739 --> 00:28:39.133
And so if it works for you, then hey, god bless.
00:28:39.714 --> 00:28:45.188
You know I haven't had many people who were suicidally depressed.
00:28:45.188 --> 00:28:50.404
I mean I've had not a huge number, but every, every one of them, without exception.
00:28:50.404 --> 00:28:51.770
I'll have them.
00:28:51.770 --> 00:28:57.686
I will anchor the feeling, have them put their head down and they will say my mother and father don't want this pregnancy.
00:28:57.686 --> 00:29:04.053
And the complex generalization is things would be better for everybody if I wasn't here.
00:29:04.053 --> 00:29:06.358
And then it's so consistent.
00:29:06.358 --> 00:29:32.357
And the amazing thing is, once you change that complex generalization, if they get done crying and I don't blame them the least they come out of this prenatal experience and they're a different human being with a different neuro-psychiatric history, and then they're free to live their life without the haunting suicidal depression and always in the back, it just goes away.
00:29:33.179 --> 00:29:39.669
Yeah, yeah, fascinating, and it by gosh.
00:29:39.669 --> 00:29:41.932
It just makes sense.
00:29:41.932 --> 00:29:52.769
All right, that's that's it for episode 15 of the optimal human experience podcast with Dr Joseph DiRuzzo.

Dr Joseph DiRuzzo and the Optimal Human Experience Podcast.
00:00:23.480 --> 00:00:31.013
Welcome to episode 15 of the Optimal Human Experience Podcast with Dr Joseph DiRuzzo.
00:00:31.013 --> 00:00:36.107
I'm Paul, andrew, and today, what are we going to talk about, joe?
00:00:37.320 --> 00:00:45.854
We're going to talk about neurohormones serotonin, adopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins and kephalins.
00:00:47.204 --> 00:00:51.603
I was just about to say that, I was just thinking that Easy for you to say.
00:00:53.862 --> 00:00:56.389
You know, these are big things in the news these days.
00:00:56.389 --> 00:01:03.451
People are depressed and they take drugs that are called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
00:01:03.451 --> 00:01:21.207
Yes, and what that does is it concentrates serotonin in the inner synaptic cleft, and if you don't have proper balance, if you don't have the Optimal Human Experience, the people walk around and they look so sad.
00:01:21.207 --> 00:01:39.740
So I was thinking about these neurohormones and I decided let's do a presentation on each and every one of them, one at a time, and let's talk about dopamine today, and it has to do with rewards, satisfaction, motivation and dopamine.
00:01:39.740 --> 00:01:44.632
If the system is not working optimally, people have problems.
00:01:44.632 --> 00:01:48.608
Apparently, it's easy to get addicted to your own dopamine.
00:01:48.608 --> 00:01:57.706
People who play computer games are constantly looking for a way to make the bells ring and the buzzers go off, and so they can have a reward.
00:01:58.207 --> 00:02:02.986
Do you know, crush that candy, crush that candy, crush it.
00:02:03.167 --> 00:02:09.503
Crush it and they get a reward, and then they go back for more, and they go back for more, and they go back for more.
00:02:09.503 --> 00:02:22.108
And you know, in rats they figured out how to put an electrode in a rat's brain in such a way that if it touched a lever it got a little electricity into the pleasure center in the brain.
00:02:22.108 --> 00:02:28.980
So you see that, with kids sitting in front of their computers for hour after hour after hour.
00:02:28.980 --> 00:02:35.772
So I thought, you know, there's possible that I had a disturbance in my dopamine system.
00:02:35.772 --> 00:02:41.132
So I just thought about all right, so how could we rectify the dopamine system?
00:02:41.132 --> 00:02:48.746
Well, first of all we would have to elicit a response that hopefully would have to do with dopamine secretion.
00:02:48.746 --> 00:02:49.742
So I thought about it.
00:02:49.742 --> 00:02:58.633
I came up with three experiences that I had, but they were for somebody else.
00:02:58.819 --> 00:03:15.131
My little Italian grandmother used to roll out dough and she would make it just the right thickness and she would slice that dough into noodles and she would cook the noodles, and then she cleaned the house and she just absolutely loved being in the kitchen.
00:03:15.131 --> 00:03:17.525
The kitchen was her domain.
00:03:17.525 --> 00:03:18.147
She loved it.
00:03:18.147 --> 00:03:23.532
She made all kinds of wonderful food and that was like a dopamine palace for her.
00:03:23.532 --> 00:03:26.902
She loved it, and my mother.
00:03:26.902 --> 00:03:28.989
She used to love to make ceramics.
00:03:28.989 --> 00:03:45.302
In the sixties there was a period of time when making ceramics was a fad and she got a kiln and she fired, she made, poured clay into molds and made cookie jars and salt and pepper shakers.
00:03:45.302 --> 00:03:54.228
I was probably eight or 10 years old at the time and I remember the reward that she got, the reward that she got.
00:03:54.228 --> 00:03:56.271
She did this for a reward.
00:03:57.300 --> 00:04:16.088
My father was a bit of an engineer and he was a carpenter and there was a creek that ran behind our house and the creek had eroded the bed, the creek bed on one side, and so he got a bunch of railroad ties.
00:04:16.088 --> 00:04:20.908
Railroad ties are big, thick pieces of lumber.
00:04:20.908 --> 00:04:33.365
He made a bank, he back filled it in with rock and dirt and he just had a wonderful time exercising his dopamine circuit.
00:04:33.365 --> 00:04:37.569
So I thought about various things and I came up with a few for myself.
00:04:37.569 --> 00:04:44.052
These are individual and I decided to anchor those.
00:04:44.052 --> 00:04:46.848
Now let me let's talk a little bit about anchoring.
00:04:46.848 --> 00:04:50.170
Okay, just just just to review.
00:04:50.439 --> 00:05:09.168
So the your, your thought process here is hey, there are all these kids out here, dopamine and adults doing these video things on their computers, their phones, seeking this dopamine hit after dopamine, hit after dopamine hit.
00:05:09.168 --> 00:05:23.545
You looked into yourself and thought because I can't imagine you sitting and playing a video game for any length of time no, I don't do that, homie, homie, don't play that.
00:05:23.545 --> 00:05:28.509
No, so so so you're thinking all right, but there's something here.
00:05:28.509 --> 00:05:40.547
And looking for, what you found were examples from other people's lives that you had experienced them, getting extreme satisfaction.
00:05:40.547 --> 00:05:47.326
And that's what the dopamine comes from completing something or doing something that provides extreme satisfaction.
00:05:47.326 --> 00:05:48.002
Is that the idea?
00:05:48.660 --> 00:06:01.437
It's satisfaction, it's motivation, it's feelings of success and if you're if you're good at modeling, you can look at a person who's experiencing a given internal emotional state and you can hallucinate.
00:06:01.437 --> 00:06:05.024
How would I feel if I was this person?
00:06:05.024 --> 00:06:08.899
How would I feel if I was this person experiencing this in this way?
00:06:08.899 --> 00:06:11.625
What would it be like for me?
00:06:12.065 --> 00:06:12.987
to experience that.
00:06:12.987 --> 00:06:19.452
So essentially every action movie, that's what the action movie is doing.
00:06:19.452 --> 00:06:27.829
Is you're thinking, oh, if I were Spider-Man, I would squirt the web onto that building and swing through?
00:06:27.829 --> 00:06:29.858
So you're imagining that this is you.
00:06:30.841 --> 00:06:32.345
And that sells more movies.
00:06:32.345 --> 00:06:42.007
I mean the comment most men lead lives of quiet desperation until they watch Spider-Man and then, or Thor, they become Thor.
00:06:42.007 --> 00:06:53.244
So yeah, you have a library in your endocrine system of all these various neurohormones and you can elicit them and bring them out.
00:06:53.244 --> 00:06:55.254
But let's talk a little bit about anchoring.
00:06:55.254 --> 00:06:59.923
One time John Gender said to me, one of the founders of NLP.
00:06:59.923 --> 00:07:06.644
He said you can achieve almost any behavioral gain with anchoring, kinesthetic anchoring he was talking about.
00:07:06.644 --> 00:07:19.779
So when Pavlov had the dogs in the laboratory and he put food in front of them and they salivated and he rang a bell in the background, his timing was just right.
00:07:19.779 --> 00:07:23.487
The dogs were in full salivation mode.
00:07:23.487 --> 00:07:30.706
Then when he rang the bell, they pop right back into full salivation mode.
00:07:30.706 --> 00:07:39.630
So in order to do a proper anchor Pavlovian stimulus response reflects arc you have to, number one, elicit the response.
00:07:39.630 --> 00:07:44.908
I got a feeling of satisfaction thinking about my little Italian grandmother.
00:07:44.908 --> 00:07:51.048
I got a feeling of satisfaction thinking about my mom and a feeling of satisfaction and what they were experiencing.
00:07:51.048 --> 00:07:53.877
That's eliciting the response.
00:07:53.877 --> 00:07:58.995
The stronger the you elicit the response, the better you're going to have in terms of success.
00:07:58.995 --> 00:08:04.024
The second thing is you have to insert a discrete stimulus.
00:08:04.024 --> 00:08:09.418
In Pavlov's laboratory it was the ringing of the bell.
00:08:09.418 --> 00:08:18.098
And then the third thing is you have to replicate the stimulus precisely to get the response.
00:08:18.098 --> 00:08:30.805
So Pavlov held the bell three feet away and four feet off the floor and he rang the bell from exactly the same direction and the dogs.
00:08:30.805 --> 00:08:36.504
Then that would constitute a good anchor and you can use that.
00:08:36.504 --> 00:08:38.270
You can use the ringing of the bell.
00:08:38.831 --> 00:08:46.249
One of the best things that I use and help people with is I say get ready to hold your thumb, get ready to squeeze your thumb.
00:08:46.249 --> 00:08:51.203
The thumb has got a huge representation neurologically in the brain.
00:08:51.203 --> 00:08:54.316
So I'll say get a feeling of being happy.
00:08:54.316 --> 00:09:07.285
Once they get into that feeling of being happy, I have them squeeze their thumb and hold it and then I say let your thumb go before you get out of the feeling of happiness.
00:09:07.285 --> 00:09:11.057
Why, you want the timing to be right.
00:09:11.057 --> 00:09:14.345
You want them to get into the feeling of happiness.
00:09:14.345 --> 00:09:22.677
Squeeze their thumb, let that squeeze go before they get out of the feeling, so that you have a discrete identifier.
00:09:22.677 --> 00:09:23.619
So all right.
00:09:23.619 --> 00:09:27.668
So get a feeling of a time when you felt motivated, successful.
00:09:27.668 --> 00:09:31.003
You know you've been playing video games and you won.
00:09:32.206 --> 00:09:33.792
I crushed the candy.
00:09:33.792 --> 00:09:34.934
I crushed the candy.
00:09:35.817 --> 00:09:38.927
And you get that feeling, squeeze your thumb and let go.
00:09:38.927 --> 00:09:54.004
You have identified, you make you would make a diagram of a plateau before, during and then after, and make sure you squeeze your thumb while you're fully in that emotional state.
00:09:54.004 --> 00:09:55.828
Okay, all right.
00:09:55.828 --> 00:09:58.095
And then the for dopamine.
00:09:58.095 --> 00:10:00.701
It's feelings of motivation, satisfaction.
00:10:00.701 --> 00:10:03.407
It's a very powerful hormone.
00:10:03.407 --> 00:10:12.186
Serotonin is more about happiness and dopamine is more about accomplishment and success.
00:10:13.649 --> 00:10:19.826
So what I did for myself and I've had people say to me you're never satisfied, you're never satisfied.
00:10:19.826 --> 00:10:29.188
Well, you can take that as a compliment, but you can also take it as a less than optimal functioning of the dopamine circuit.
00:10:29.188 --> 00:10:46.291
So I got a good anchor for dopamine and then I put my head down and I put my arms up near my face I assumed the prenatal pattern took a deep breath, let it out and fired off the anchor for dopamine secretion.
00:10:46.291 --> 00:10:52.047
And I can tell you it just gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction.
00:10:52.047 --> 00:10:57.346
But it seemed to take an edge off of my personality.
00:10:58.898 --> 00:11:09.083
I have in the past always been striving, striving, striving, striving, striving, tremendous motivation, but I did not ever really have a sense of success.
00:11:09.083 --> 00:11:21.783
I've had people say to me well, you should do so and so, and I'd say, well, I'm not quite ready yet, and they say you're the most accomplished person we know in this category, but I didn't have an adequate feeling of success.
00:11:21.783 --> 00:11:31.758
Now I believe that with this technique I have developed a more optimal function of my dopamine circuit so that I can feel success.
00:11:31.758 --> 00:11:36.682
I can feel satisfaction, I can feel motivation and it's a good, healthy feeling.
00:11:36.682 --> 00:11:42.126
It's I'm feeling dopamine and I'm feeling it all in a good way.
00:11:42.126 --> 00:11:43.698
Does that make sense to you?
00:11:44.115 --> 00:12:03.899
Yeah, and so and so the process was you set for each of the situations that you remembered, your grandmother with the homemade, handmade, hand cut spaghetti your mother with, and she went sounds like she went full bore with this.
00:12:03.899 --> 00:12:05.424
I mean she had her own kiln.
00:12:05.424 --> 00:12:11.864
She had all of the stuff and she's doing all of this stuff at home and this is her source of extreme happiness.
00:12:11.864 --> 00:12:16.326
So she saw this, she made she made great big cookie jars.
00:12:16.414 --> 00:12:19.465
You know they were probably a foot tall and 12 inches across.
00:12:19.465 --> 00:12:28.325
She made Christmas trees that you could put a light inside and it had little holes and you put little plastic stars in the holes.
00:12:28.325 --> 00:12:34.327
I mean she made a prior tuck, salt and pepper shakers, all kinds of stuff.
00:12:34.327 --> 00:12:38.014
It was about 1965, I'd say or 1960 ish.
00:12:38.014 --> 00:12:41.184
It was a fan and women went crazy over it.
00:12:41.184 --> 00:12:45.746
They opened ceramic shops and she was right in there doing ceramic.
00:12:45.835 --> 00:12:49.198
She loved it, she loved it, you saw this, and so you.
00:12:49.198 --> 00:13:00.360
You brought this emotional state back, and at the peak of that emotional state, you were using the thumb as an anchor for setting the anchor on these.
00:13:00.735 --> 00:13:01.820
Yes, same thing with them.
00:13:02.235 --> 00:13:03.240
Same thing with your father.
00:13:03.240 --> 00:13:12.769
So you have these three separate instances that brought this extreme sense of satisfaction and reward.
00:13:14.174 --> 00:13:32.187
And then you said you went into the prenatal position in the prenatal state and, like, just imagined yourself Floating gently in the, in the, in the, in the amniotic fluid, and I fired off the anchor and my experiences I have just it, it, it healed.
00:13:32.187 --> 00:13:36.366
It was a healing, and I don't usually use that word.
00:13:36.366 --> 00:13:39.554
My mother had, you know, a terrible sense of not being satisfied.
00:13:39.554 --> 00:13:41.342
But here's a question for you.
00:13:41.342 --> 00:13:50.628
Imagine a person is prenatal little embryo floating in the amniotic fluid and they are not receiving enough glucose.
00:13:50.628 --> 00:13:56.715
Their mother has gotten distracted, she's not eating, she's watching TV or she's making ceramics.
00:13:57.625 --> 00:13:58.515
She's made whatever, whatever.
00:13:59.960 --> 00:14:07.379
And and so this little embryo sends a signal up the in, up the umbilical cord, says Mom, send me some glucose, send me some to eat.
00:14:07.740 --> 00:14:07.921
Hey.
00:14:07.961 --> 00:14:19.447
Ma, what happens if this, if the, if she is paying attention to something else, and that cry for a little nutrition is goes unheeded?
00:14:19.447 --> 00:14:21.541
Well, somebody's not too happy.
00:14:21.541 --> 00:14:25.259
Well, that lead us to a sense of frustration.
00:14:25.259 --> 00:14:30.345
How about if there is not enough Oxygen in the blood?
00:14:30.345 --> 00:14:37.236
It's the less than the optimal level, and a little signal is sent up the umbilical cord.
00:14:37.236 --> 00:14:39.481
Mom, take a deep breath, move around a little bit.
00:14:39.481 --> 00:14:41.787
I've got blood stagnation down here in.
00:14:41.787 --> 00:14:45.193
The cry for a little more oxygen goes unheeded.
00:14:45.193 --> 00:14:49.912
Would that person tend to develop a set point for dopamine?
00:14:49.912 --> 00:14:53.200
That was less than optimal.
00:14:54.643 --> 00:14:54.984
Okay.
00:14:54.984 --> 00:15:09.452
So what you're saying is there are set points for well really we were discussing earlier really for just about anything, but especially emotional states or even physical state, there's some set point.
00:15:09.452 --> 00:15:09.913
That's the.
00:15:09.913 --> 00:15:13.844
That's where you're building from.
00:15:13.844 --> 00:15:16.530
So the embryo wants some.
00:15:16.530 --> 00:15:18.856
Hey, ma, send me some glucose.
00:15:18.856 --> 00:15:26.553
And she's busy Making her ceramics and doesn't eat, and and the baby's like okay, I'm not too happy here.
00:15:27.221 --> 00:15:28.663
What happens to the reward.
00:15:28.663 --> 00:15:34.073
You know the baby attempted to do something and did not receive a reward.
00:15:34.073 --> 00:15:48.552
That will tend to establish a set point, and if it occurs in blood glucose and it occurs in blood oxygen levels, that seems to me to be an ideal situation to develop a disturbance in the dopamine system.
00:15:49.422 --> 00:15:50.423
It makes perfect sense.
00:15:50.423 --> 00:15:54.472
Okay, we're about halfway through about 15 minutes in this.
00:15:54.472 --> 00:16:01.264

That's optimal human experience.
00:16:03.789 --> 00:16:04.331
com.
00:16:04.331 --> 00:16:05.594
There's videos on there.
00:16:05.594 --> 00:16:11.346
You'll see the latest course offerings, all of that kind of stuff.
00:16:11.346 --> 00:16:42.519
00:16:42.519 --> 00:16:47.663
It shifted your current experience.
00:16:47.663 --> 00:16:49.166
Did I hear that right?
00:16:50.028 --> 00:16:51.269
It is the darndest thing.
00:16:51.269 --> 00:16:53.693
You know, we talk about set points.
00:16:53.693 --> 00:17:02.767
But you have a person who's 65 years old and I'll say to them you know what's your biggest problem?
00:17:02.767 --> 00:17:09.724
They'll say I feeling feelings of inadequacy, or I don't feel I'm adequately Rewarded, or I'm always dissatisfied.
00:17:09.724 --> 00:17:14.273
And I'll say, all right, well, it's probably something having to do with your prenatal experience.
00:17:14.273 --> 00:17:18.590
Put your head down and let's see if we can retrieve a prenatal memory.
00:17:18.590 --> 00:17:22.517
And of course they go no, that was 60 years ago, that was, that was a lie.
00:17:22.517 --> 00:17:23.279
I've forgotten all of it.
00:17:23.279 --> 00:17:24.223
I can't remember that.
00:17:24.223 --> 00:17:27.619
I'll say, all right, well, put your head down and try it anyways.
00:17:27.619 --> 00:17:30.599
And they go well, all right, but this is crazy, it's not gonna work.
00:17:30.599 --> 00:17:31.663
I know it's not gonna work.
00:17:31.663 --> 00:17:32.688
The mini.
00:17:32.748 --> 00:17:45.247
And they, the minute they put their head down and lowered their head so that their eyes go below the horizon, they'll go oh, my mother doesn't want the pregnancy and she's in denial and she's not thinking about me and it's in it.
00:17:45.247 --> 00:17:48.883
And that is a set point for report.
00:17:48.883 --> 00:17:50.548
Deprivation sickness.
00:17:50.548 --> 00:17:52.983
Report deprivation syndrome.
00:17:52.983 --> 00:18:16.992
00:18:16.992 --> 00:18:25.344
And and if the mother is really in denial about being pregnant, they'll get they'll.
00:18:25.344 --> 00:18:27.248
That is their set point.
00:18:27.248 --> 00:18:30.193
They will go through life feeling like they're not wanted.
00:18:31.320 --> 00:18:38.310
So one of the easiest ways to deal with this Is to reset that set point Mm-hmm.
00:18:38.310 --> 00:18:43.105
And one of the ways I'll do it is I'll say tell me, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:18:43.105 --> 00:18:46.685
That's one of the common ones Mm-hmm, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:18:46.685 --> 00:18:48.270
And they'll say, oh, I'm not supposed to be it.
00:18:48.270 --> 00:18:48.941
They'll cry.
00:18:48.941 --> 00:19:00.553
People will cry, especially if they're really into the emotions that they were experiencing way back During that, that period of their life, the prenatal period, and they'll say I'm not supposed to be here.
00:19:00.553 --> 00:19:04.068
And I'll say say it three times, right, to convince your mechanism.
00:19:04.068 --> 00:19:07.346
They'll say I'm not supposed to be here, I'm not supposed to be here, I'm not supposed to be here.
00:19:07.346 --> 00:19:16.435
And then I say Say, but as long as I'm here, I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:16.435 --> 00:19:31.220
And they'll say a Big sigh will come out as they blow off carbon dioxide and the sympathetic and the Parasympathetic nervous systems begin to normalize and they'll say as long as I'm here, I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:31.220 --> 00:19:37.384
I'm not supposed to be here, but as long as I'm here I'm going to have a wonderful time.
00:19:37.724 --> 00:19:52.324
And for many, many, many people, that is a turning point, that is a pivotal moment and they begin to accept their, their humanity, the fact that they're here, that they're alive, that they have a wonderful life or an opportunity To have a wonderful life.
00:19:52.324 --> 00:19:55.961
And for many people you know people talk about Healing.
00:19:55.961 --> 00:20:01.920
They're right and this is a form of healing and it's consistent, reliable.
00:20:01.920 --> 00:20:10.944
It is in my experience, if I do my job right, mother nature and their body will go into a healing mode and They'll.
00:20:10.944 --> 00:20:16.508
They will shake and shiver for a couple minutes and when they come out of it, they're a different person I.
00:20:16.508 --> 00:20:44.385
So we have some marvelous tools this prenatal re-imprinting is only one of them but understanding pavlovian stimulus response reflexes and utilizing anchors deliberately to reeducate your nervous system so that you become more likely to experience the optimal human experience.
00:20:44.385 --> 00:21:00.320
You have good friends, you go after things and you get them, you're rewarded, you have status, you have freedom, self-expression, you have resources, you have all good things, you have a balance in your life, the optimal human experience.
00:21:02.050 --> 00:21:32.839
00:21:34.832 --> 00:21:37.298
You know, when all else fails, take thorazine.
00:21:37.298 --> 00:21:41.337
You know it won't feel better, you just won't feel as bad.
00:21:41.337 --> 00:21:51.057
But, what comes up over and over again in my mind is the memory of that biker guy who had all leather and anything.
00:21:51.057 --> 00:21:56.041
We did a prenatal session and then after he said, can I give you a hug?
00:21:56.041 --> 00:21:58.436
That was the last thing I expected.
00:22:00.090 --> 00:22:07.249
Yeah that was the amazing thing about the prenatal technique is the memories.
00:22:07.249 --> 00:22:14.464
Whenever we have the opportunity to confirm or deny a memory, invariably I'll send people.
00:22:14.464 --> 00:22:20.653
I'll say who would know what your mother was going through at this time in her life when you were prenatal?
00:22:20.653 --> 00:22:30.522
And they'll say, well, my aunt or my uncle or my neighbor, and they'll go and talk to them and they'll come back and they will usually be shaken right to their core, right to their toenails.
00:22:30.522 --> 00:22:32.073
They'll say that is actually.
00:22:32.073 --> 00:22:46.176
I had a psychologist say to me this is not a metaphor, this is not a parable, a simile, a story, and as if this is actually what happened during this person's prenatal experience.
00:22:46.176 --> 00:23:07.076
And, remarkable as it is, the material, the information is in there and you can identify and elicit these prenatal memories and you can alter the complex generalizations of physiology and you end up with the more happiness and more joy, more satisfaction in your life, the optimal human experience.
00:23:07.971 --> 00:23:26.895
Well, and I can, I've said this before you did a session with one of my daughters and she related something that was going on and recounted an argument that I hadn't thought of and what I think.
00:23:26.895 --> 00:23:29.020
She was around 18 or 19 at the time.
00:23:29.020 --> 00:23:44.622
I hadn't thought of it in 18, 19 years, but it was an argument that her mother and I had when she was prenatal, around two, three months old, maybe four, two, three months old.
00:23:44.622 --> 00:23:50.701
I remembered the argument because she recounted some of the specific things that were said.
00:23:50.701 --> 00:23:52.451
I'm thinking.
00:23:52.451 --> 00:23:56.702
I'm thinking, hold on a minute, you weren't there.
00:23:56.702 --> 00:24:03.355
Oh yeah, I guess you were there and it was, you know.
00:24:03.355 --> 00:24:09.996
Yet another shocking, shocking example of okay, I guess there is maybe something to this stuff here.
00:24:10.829 --> 00:24:16.131
If we take as a formal dogma the prenatal concept, you know, a sperm meets an unfertilized egg.
00:24:16.131 --> 00:24:26.539
They come together, make a fertilized ovum that divides into two cells, four cells, eight cells, 16 cells, and when it reaches the 32 cell stage it's called a blastula.
00:24:26.539 --> 00:24:33.680
The blastula begins to spread out toward what will be the head and what will be the feet and immediately forms the neural plate.
00:24:33.680 --> 00:24:37.799
The first differentiated tissue of the human body is nervous tissue.
00:24:37.799 --> 00:25:01.134
At that point personality structure begins to be laid down as a series of simple Pavlovian stimulus response reflexes, and all of the problems that we have later on in life, without exception, are the end result of maladaptive reflexes established in the prenatal period under conditions of maternal or fetal distress.
00:25:01.134 --> 00:25:04.938
And that is roughly the truth.
00:25:04.938 --> 00:25:15.417
It seems like we have some kind of extremely primitive pre-conscious consciousness even before the formation of the neural plate.
00:25:16.410 --> 00:25:30.680
And there's a tremendous amount of research that needs to be done, but the bottom line is that the prenatal period and the early childhood, the prenatal period and the early childhood development, are most, most influence.
00:25:30.680 --> 00:25:35.712
They really establish the direction, the trajectory for your life.
00:25:35.712 --> 00:25:40.936
So prenatal re-imprinting uber-olus.
00:25:42.058 --> 00:25:47.388
Well, when you think about it, you've got these cells that you started out with.
00:25:47.388 --> 00:25:58.421
One cell and it's dividing, and each of those cells have these cell receptor sites that are looking for something to dock in there.
00:25:58.421 --> 00:26:00.868
Okay, neurotransmitters, come on.
00:26:00.868 --> 00:26:01.369
Come on.
00:26:01.369 --> 00:26:01.832
Come on.
00:26:01.832 --> 00:26:04.300
You want the happy ones or you want the sad ones?
00:26:04.300 --> 00:26:05.163
Well, what do we got?
00:26:05.826 --> 00:26:07.292
Well, mom, and dad are fighting.
00:26:07.334 --> 00:26:08.036
Yeah, what's there?
00:26:08.036 --> 00:26:16.528
So there and it's not just the negative things that are plugged in at that point.
00:26:16.528 --> 00:26:45.904
I mean, with the Wonder Baby program that you developed, it's very possible to create a situation where the baby, the embryo, has installed the good neurotransmitters, the happy feelings, as opposed to I am no one I remember that.
00:26:45.904 --> 00:26:47.227
Oh, I remember that.
00:26:47.227 --> 00:26:47.949
Oh, my gosh.
00:26:49.570 --> 00:27:03.907
So we have a wonderful set of tools and I invite people to use them and learn and have fun and redesign your life, reconfigure your life, make your life the best that you can make it, make it the optimal human experience for you.
00:27:07.077 --> 00:27:47.326
00:27:49.148 --> 00:27:51.811
So you know all of these set points.
00:27:51.811 --> 00:28:01.537
What goes on inside of the bones when some people become osteoporotic and get osteoporosis, other people don't?
00:28:01.537 --> 00:28:06.208
What happens when people have kidney failure early in life and other people don't?
00:28:06.208 --> 00:28:17.986
How many of these internal set points are there and right for all these different systems, all the different systems for all the different systems.
00:28:17.986 --> 00:28:20.234
This is ongoing research that we need to do.
00:28:21.376 --> 00:28:32.739
Well, and you know, people poo poo anecdotal evidence, but when it's your anecdote, it can't get much more personal than that.
00:28:32.739 --> 00:28:39.133
And so if it works for you, then hey, god bless.
00:28:39.714 --> 00:28:45.188
You know I haven't had many people who were suicidally depressed.
00:28:45.188 --> 00:28:50.404
I mean I've had not a huge number, but every, every one of them, without exception.
00:28:50.404 --> 00:28:51.770
I'll have them.
00:28:51.770 --> 00:28:57.686
I will anchor the feeling, have them put their head down and they will say my mother and father don't want this pregnancy.
00:28:57.686 --> 00:29:04.053
And the complex generalization is things would be better for everybody if I wasn't here.
00:29:04.053 --> 00:29:06.358
And then it's so consistent.
00:29:06.358 --> 00:29:32.357
And the amazing thing is, once you change that complex generalization, if they get done crying and I don't blame them the least they come out of this prenatal experience and they're a different human being with a different neuro-psychiatric history, and then they're free to live their life without the haunting suicidal depression and always in the back, it just goes away.
00:29:33.179 --> 00:29:39.669
Yeah, yeah, fascinating, and it by gosh.
00:29:39.669 --> 00:29:41.932
It just makes sense.
00:29:41.932 --> 00:29:52.769
