WEBVTT
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.620
All right everybody.
00:00:01.620 --> 00:00:04.919
It is onscreen offscreen back with another episode.
00:00:05.219 --> 00:00:11.490
We've got Justice Josh, just so great at everything.
00:00:11.669 --> 00:00:19.289
He's constantly honoring and like if he were in the Ages, he would be that night in Shining Armor.
00:00:19.385 --> 00:00:23.039
And then we've got lovely, luxurious, lyrical Lauren.
00:00:27.213 --> 00:00:29.884
Sorry, Conlin, or sorry, audience con's.
00:00:29.884 --> 00:00:30.934
Having a stroke.
00:00:31.594 --> 00:00:31.864
Uh.
00:00:44.054 --> 00:00:46.454
Lauren is the greatest like in the entire world.
00:00:46.575 --> 00:00:50.475
There's very, very few people ever get to be just as good as she is.
00:00:51.314 --> 00:00:54.854
We are gonna start off this episode after my great introduction.
00:00:56.054 --> 00:01:02.594
Best introduction ever our basically other shared topic, my hero, academia.
00:01:04.394 --> 00:01:07.165
Josh, I would like to hear your thoughts first.
00:01:09.453 --> 00:01:09.933
Okay.
00:01:09.993 --> 00:01:14.224
Um, season one, I absolutely love this show.
00:01:14.554 --> 00:01:16.024
I think it's phenomenal.
00:01:16.233 --> 00:01:22.474
It gives very sky high vibes, um, but as an enemy, um, and I love Sky High.
00:01:22.474 --> 00:01:24.813
This is something that's right up my alley.
00:01:25.444 --> 00:01:33.334
Um, I was actually originally rooting for him to get gadgets and like become a hero.
00:01:35.269 --> 00:01:36.858
Not through magical means.
00:01:37.429 --> 00:01:44.358
Um, yeah, a Batman or a sidekick from season two, I really love her.
00:01:44.989 --> 00:01:52.218
Um, but he does become a hero through magical means, and I wasn't mad at it actually.
00:01:52.308 --> 00:01:54.588
I thought it was very good what they decided to do.
00:01:55.368 --> 00:01:58.759
Um, I love the villain arc in season one.
00:01:59.569 --> 00:02:02.509
It was a little bit simpler, but they were doing like.
00:02:04.099 --> 00:02:04.789
Set up.
00:02:05.239 --> 00:02:08.868
So I'm, I was to, I was very satisfied with it.
00:02:09.649 --> 00:02:16.368
Um, URIs and MAD's friendship is like so awesome.
00:02:16.429 --> 00:02:17.929
I absolutely love them two.
00:02:17.929 --> 00:02:19.278
I'm totally shipping them.
00:02:19.368 --> 00:02:24.199
Those two, those two should be together for sure.
00:02:24.498 --> 00:02:27.468
Um, so I gave season one an 8.3 out of 10.
00:02:28.848 --> 00:02:30.709
Um, season two.
00:02:30.769 --> 00:02:34.758
I love the sports, um, stuff.
00:02:34.938 --> 00:02:37.248
Uh, very cool.
00:02:37.308 --> 00:02:38.688
Introdu introduction.
00:02:38.688 --> 00:02:42.468
I love how they, he did a different kind of villain.
00:02:43.038 --> 00:02:49.158
Um, staying is one of the greatest anime villains, plain and simple.
00:02:50.913 --> 00:02:58.713
He was such a good villain for this and it, they did the Vader thing where they didn't really talk about it too much.
00:02:58.713 --> 00:03:10.174
They just kind of showed you a couple of things and left it for you to just understand like, that dude is terrifying and a totally paid off.
00:03:10.264 --> 00:03:11.854
Uh, so I gave season two.
00:03:12.394 --> 00:03:12.723
Um.
00:03:13.489 --> 00:03:21.229
At 8.2 outta 10, uh, I wasn't as high on it'cause I, I still don't get why Bgo hates Madia so much.
00:03:21.679 --> 00:03:30.739
I understand why Madia wants to beat Bgo so much, but the fact that it's reversed and he just hates him so much, I just, I don't get that.
00:03:31.158 --> 00:03:39.049
Um, especially since Madia has been just like praising and loving him and talking him up for so long.
00:03:41.899 --> 00:03:42.528
I get it.
00:03:42.528 --> 00:03:50.778
If you, if he had beaten you at something, but he never has, you got no reason to outshine him.
00:03:50.778 --> 00:03:55.549
He's a little bug that is an irritant and I just, he absolutely hates it.
00:03:55.549 --> 00:03:57.408
And I don't, I don't get that at all.
00:03:57.949 --> 00:04:07.699
Um, season three, uh, also what they do with the villains, how they basically merge season one and season two in a very.
00:04:09.558 --> 00:04:10.878
It makes total sense.
00:04:10.878 --> 00:04:12.528
It evolves into that.
00:04:12.588 --> 00:04:13.998
I absolutely love that.
00:04:14.508 --> 00:04:21.108
Um, and once again, URI and MAD's relationship is getting even better, better, better.
00:04:21.108 --> 00:04:22.548
I shipped them so hard.
00:04:23.509 --> 00:04:27.889
Um, I gave it an 8.1 out of 10 so far.
00:04:27.889 --> 00:04:30.439
This show is absolutely fantastic.
00:04:30.528 --> 00:04:31.548
It is so good.
00:04:32.059 --> 00:04:33.204
I'm excited to watch more.
00:04:34.668 --> 00:04:41.449
I have gotten some information that ruins it a little bit for me, but I'm still loving the show.
00:04:41.959 --> 00:04:47.869
It's still a fantastic show and, um, I, I wanna watch more for sure.
00:04:49.399 --> 00:04:49.689
Cool.
00:04:49.694 --> 00:04:49.754
Cool.
00:04:51.074 --> 00:04:51.524
All right.
00:04:51.615 --> 00:04:53.384
What about you, Lauren?
00:04:54.649 --> 00:04:57.560
Um, I'm absolutely obsessed, uh, with the show.
00:04:57.560 --> 00:04:59.540
As you can see, I have a razor head.
00:04:59.540 --> 00:05:07.040
I have aka I have all my madia and I'm so mad.
00:05:07.040 --> 00:05:08.269
I forget his name.
00:05:09.709 --> 00:05:13.019
but, uh, I know his rival Tetsu Tetsu.
00:05:13.100 --> 00:05:14.629
Why can I not think of his name?
00:05:15.829 --> 00:05:17.180
Anyway, but I have him.
00:05:17.209 --> 00:05:18.230
That's, uh.
00:05:19.644 --> 00:05:32.964
So I have like, uh, and then I have all of the manga because I started watching this when I think there was only four seasons out and I finished two, four seasons of the anime.
00:05:32.964 --> 00:05:39.295
And I was like, I can't wait for them to make more anime, so I'm just gonna go buy all of the books.
00:05:39.295 --> 00:05:46.435
And then I read up to where the Mongo was being released and then was reading each chapter each week.
00:05:48.819 --> 00:05:50.889
Yeah, I absolutely love this series.
00:05:50.889 --> 00:05:53.350
I love Madia as a character.
00:05:53.649 --> 00:06:14.439
Normally those type of characters annoy me because he is, um, he's like the cinnamon role that he, he's smart in the way that he analyzes everything and everyone, so he like knows their, their weaknesses where they can, uh, do better and things like that.
00:06:14.709 --> 00:06:16.360
Which, um.
00:06:17.199 --> 00:06:32.709
I've seen all of the movies and I don't like the movies as much as I like the seasons because they don't stay true to MAD's like analytically, how do I work around a problem?
00:06:33.519 --> 00:06:35.379
they're always like, I got a punch.
00:06:35.470 --> 00:06:36.160
Harder.
00:06:38.069 --> 00:06:39.874
He does that in the show too, to be fired.
00:06:40.089 --> 00:06:41.589
does, he does.
00:06:41.860 --> 00:06:44.019
Which, um, but he.
00:06:44.500 --> 00:07:01.189
Like not to the extent of, and I can't remember which one it specifically is, but I actually went and saw it in theaters the villain's superpower is whatever you do to him, he just reflects it and it.
00:07:02.050 --> 00:07:03.310
Hits you twice as hard.
00:07:03.759 --> 00:07:10.120
Um, and so he's like, I just, he's like, I have to push through my boundaries and hit him even harder.
00:07:10.509 --> 00:07:13.689
Like, no, I'm like, think around the problem.
00:07:15.699 --> 00:07:17.199
Oh, it made me so angry.
00:07:17.589 --> 00:07:19.569
Um, because yeah, he just.
00:07:21.144 --> 00:07:44.064
And one thing that makes me laugh about this series is when he does, uh, when he punches, they'll say like, SMASH, or like, and it's always like, um, US cities or like, or if it's a really big one and it's like Texas smash, it kills me.
00:07:44.064 --> 00:07:45.144
I think it's hilarious.
00:07:45.394 --> 00:07:46.564
Clobber.
00:07:47.035 --> 00:08:00.115
Well, it's always smash no matter what, but it's like there's different, uh, cities and, and like states and stuff that they'll put in.
00:08:00.834 --> 00:08:12.355
Um, but yeah, I agree with Josh with staying as one of my favorite, villains and I love how he, um.
00:08:13.180 --> 00:08:16.600
That's one of my favorite arcs in the My Hero universe.
00:08:16.930 --> 00:08:22.149
Um, followed up with,'cause you guys are only reviewing seasons one, two, and three.
00:08:22.569 --> 00:08:25.060
My next favorite arc is coming up for you guys.
00:08:25.300 --> 00:08:30.519
So, um, yeah, I, I really like it.
00:08:30.519 --> 00:08:34.779
I think eraser head's one of my favorite characters.
00:08:34.779 --> 00:08:35.740
I think he's just.
00:08:36.100 --> 00:08:37.389
Absolutely hilarious.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:43.125
Um, I love how he like shows up to class in a sleeping bag and
00:08:43.239 --> 00:08:44.229
Do with it yourselves.
00:08:44.229 --> 00:08:44.798
You're adults.
00:08:44.798 --> 00:08:45.053
I don't care.
00:08:47.034 --> 00:08:47.934
so freaking funny.
00:08:48.754 --> 00:08:53.379
Um, and, uh, yeah, he's one of my favorite characters.
00:08:53.409 --> 00:08:56.049
I also really like all my, um.
00:08:57.190 --> 00:08:59.320
He's just like trying to be a symbol of hope.
00:08:59.679 --> 00:09:08.649
Um, and like how stain, uh, if anybody has watched, hasn't watched the series.
00:09:09.129 --> 00:09:16.899
Uh, stain has an ideology that heroes are just being heroes for the money of it and aren't actually being heroic.
00:09:17.350 --> 00:09:18.879
Um, other than almight.
00:09:19.360 --> 00:09:19.539
Um.
00:09:20.289 --> 00:09:26.500
And so he is like, he feels like the only person who can actually put him behind bars would be Almight.
00:09:26.919 --> 00:09:36.309
And they call him Heroes Killer Stain because he is going around and killing all of the heroes that he doesn't think, fit up to what a hero should be.
00:09:36.789 --> 00:09:45.730
Um, and I, yeah, it's, and his power is like, it, it's so frightening because if he gets like, um.
00:09:45.774 --> 00:09:48.565
If he tastes your blood, he can freeze you.
00:09:48.985 --> 00:09:58.284
Uh, so he goes around with like these knives and stuff and he cuts, people, licks their blood and then, um, yeah, makes'em freeze and they can kill'em.
00:09:58.764 --> 00:10:09.174
Uh, but yeah, I absolutely love how the in this anime like it is in an ensemble.
00:10:09.625 --> 00:10:13.764
Uh, and, but every single character I feel like is given.
00:10:14.125 --> 00:10:21.325
Attention and love with their backstory, with their arcs, like even just the smallest of them.
00:10:21.684 --> 00:10:28.164
Uh, and it's like, it's shown in the, in the manga, and I think it shines through in the anime as well.
00:10:28.524 --> 00:10:31.014
I absolutely love this series.
00:10:32.304 --> 00:10:34.225
I would rank it as.
00:10:37.345 --> 00:10:39.205
I'm trying to give it a reason not to be a 10.
00:10:40.658 --> 00:10:41.828
You can give tens.
00:10:42.024 --> 00:10:43.884
I think it's a 10 for me.
00:10:44.139 --> 00:10:46.928
Everybody on this podcast gives tens.
00:10:46.928 --> 00:10:47.974
It's totally okay.
00:10:48.629 --> 00:10:52.799
No, no, I made a, I had a brain hemorrhage.
00:10:54.950 --> 00:10:55.240
yeah.
00:10:55.240 --> 00:10:56.720
At the beginning of this episode.
00:10:58.049 --> 00:11:01.019
No, I give a 10 to the, but whatcha talking about I would give tens?
00:11:01.259 --> 00:11:02.309
Tens don't exist.
00:11:03.490 --> 00:11:13.509
Um, but yeah, I, I, think of a reason not to give it a 10, um, except for later, so 9.5.
00:11:14.679 --> 00:11:18.309
So, but I don't wanna ruin anything for you guys.
00:11:19.539 --> 00:11:23.799
the anime, I would say Monga stays a 10.
00:11:25.904 --> 00:11:26.174
Okay.
00:11:27.225 --> 00:11:27.495
Okay.
00:11:29.115 --> 00:11:32.924
I, um, really, really, really like this show.
00:11:33.345 --> 00:11:34.664
Like a lot, actually.
00:11:35.325 --> 00:11:37.904
did hit my, I'm kind of done with anime.
00:11:38.595 --> 00:11:42.914
tried to watch a little bit more of season four and I was like, I can't do it right now.
00:11:42.975 --> 00:11:44.024
I just can't.
00:11:45.044 --> 00:11:53.595
Um, one of the most impressive things about this anime, honestly, every single one of these always has one creepy pervert character.
00:11:53.835 --> 00:11:55.125
Every single one of them.
00:11:55.245 --> 00:11:58.004
And they're always the most annoying character in the anime.
00:11:58.004 --> 00:12:01.184
And most of the time they ruin the show.
00:12:02.250 --> 00:12:07.110
Like demon Slayer has the yellow haired freak and he is awful.
00:12:07.470 --> 00:12:11.159
I skip parts with him in it'cause he is such a terrible character.
00:12:11.759 --> 00:12:15.299
This one has the purple haired guy who throws the goblets.
00:12:15.299 --> 00:12:16.320
I can't remember his name,
00:12:17.190 --> 00:12:17.610
Mineta.
00:12:18.375 --> 00:12:24.014
He's, he's still a creepy freak and I wish that they wouldn't put that in the animes, but he is by far the best one.
00:12:24.014 --> 00:12:25.394
Like it is not even close.
00:12:25.394 --> 00:12:27.284
He is by miles the best one.
00:12:27.975 --> 00:12:39.674
there's the part where they're going through the, the like tournament, the, the challenges where they're facing the teachers and they literally have him develop as a character based on him being a pervert.
00:12:40.274 --> 00:12:41.835
That is a miracle in anime.
00:12:41.894 --> 00:12:43.424
Anime has never done that.
00:12:43.595 --> 00:12:45.245
I have never seen anything like that.
00:12:45.304 --> 00:12:46.294
That's insane.
00:12:46.534 --> 00:12:50.434
They actually made a storyline that didn't suck with one of those characters.
00:12:50.585 --> 00:12:51.455
Hallelujah.
00:12:51.634 --> 00:12:52.625
Praise this show.
00:12:53.225 --> 00:12:58.414
Um, I, I think the, I think everything in this anime is really good.
00:12:58.715 --> 00:13:07.654
I think there are better aspects other animes, but it's hardly ever done in the, in a solid package as well.
00:13:08.315 --> 00:13:11.284
So like demon slayer, I think the fights are just better.
00:13:12.450 --> 00:13:14.340
I think they, the animation is better.
00:13:14.340 --> 00:13:20.220
I, I think the fights are better, but the fights are really good in this, soul eater.
00:13:20.220 --> 00:13:28.259
I like the power sets that are in soul eater better, but all of the powers are good in this, uh, black clover.
00:13:28.259 --> 00:13:28.320
I.
00:13:29.700 --> 00:13:33.450
think the world is more interesting, but the world in this is good.
00:13:33.779 --> 00:13:36.360
So everything they, they just do everything really well.
00:13:36.539 --> 00:13:38.700
The villains are absolutely excellent in this.
00:13:39.090 --> 00:13:47.129
My biggest negative to this show is I love seeing characters develop and watching how their power sets are going to improve.
00:13:47.519 --> 00:13:52.830
So like demon slayer, I'm really interested in what he will learn and how he will get stronger.
00:13:53.549 --> 00:13:56.850
this one, I'm kind of like, well, we see almight.
00:13:57.644 --> 00:13:58.995
And he's gonna become that.
00:13:59.924 --> 00:14:01.904
So, okay.
00:14:02.745 --> 00:14:03.674
And that doesn't ruin the show.
00:14:03.674 --> 00:14:16.934
I still really enjoy the show, but I wish his powers kind of shifted and were a little bit different than Almight, where now it just kind of feels like, oh, his body can't handle all the power and his body's getting stronger.
00:14:18.585 --> 00:14:19.095
Cool.
00:14:19.840 --> 00:14:22.389
are gonna be very happy when you keep watching.
00:14:23.355 --> 00:14:24.164
That makes me very happy.
00:14:24.164 --> 00:14:24.794
'cause that's my.
00:14:25.544 --> 00:14:28.634
Biggest ne by far, biggest negative of the show.
00:14:29.080 --> 00:14:29.440
Yeah.
00:14:30.075 --> 00:14:31.335
I don't care how you develop.
00:14:31.365 --> 00:14:33.914
Oh, you got a little bit more powerful, cool, whatever.
00:14:34.335 --> 00:14:37.575
And I love, I love the progression fantasy.
00:14:37.575 --> 00:14:43.154
It is, I probably like it too much'cause it's often the exact same thing.
00:14:43.904 --> 00:14:48.554
But I, I just love that and I'm not getting, getting that aspect quite as much.
00:14:48.764 --> 00:14:50.894
Even with, um, what, what's the fire and ice guy's name?
00:14:51.700 --> 00:14:52.240
Oh, uh.
00:14:53.205 --> 00:14:56.115
Showed up really cool power set, like, I really like it.
00:14:56.115 --> 00:14:57.794
It's cool how it affects his body.
00:14:57.794 --> 00:14:59.534
I was like, that is awesome.
00:15:00.284 --> 00:15:05.235
the same time, it's like, oh, he just puts more ice and more fire out.
00:15:06.465 --> 00:15:06.585
Okay,
00:15:07.495 --> 00:15:11.995
I love how the fandom has, just call him Icy Hot.
00:15:12.794 --> 00:15:13.485
really?
00:15:13.820 --> 00:15:14.110
Yeah,
00:15:14.144 --> 00:15:14.565
they do.
00:15:14.745 --> 00:15:15.735
Of course they do.
00:15:15.894 --> 00:15:17.365
because that's what Baca go calls him.
00:15:19.215 --> 00:15:19.875
That's awesome.
00:15:20.274 --> 00:15:33.955
Oh, there's, um, so I, I can't remember if this is the point where they're like picking hero names and things, but there was like a big thing of like, Bako hadn't chosen his, uh, hero name yet.
00:15:33.955 --> 00:15:35.815
And it, he was like the last one or whatever.
00:15:36.054 --> 00:15:41.335
So like the fandom was going crazy about, they're like, what, what is he gonna name his hero and stuff?
00:15:41.335 --> 00:15:42.835
And I was like, it should be F-bomb.
00:15:44.850 --> 00:15:48.019
Zero name should be fbo like.
00:15:48.235 --> 00:15:50.304
People are like, no, I think it should be caught on.
00:15:50.304 --> 00:15:51.774
I was like, wait, no.
00:15:51.774 --> 00:15:53.664
I think we moved too fast from fbo,
00:15:54.889 --> 00:15:55.110
Fbo.
00:15:55.725 --> 00:15:56.054
Great.
00:15:58.524 --> 00:16:08.940
like a whole lineup of all of these different things and I was like, the author should look at my suggestions please, but.
00:16:09.044 --> 00:16:11.654
Um, anyway, this show's really, really good.
00:16:11.684 --> 00:16:15.134
I do, this is a side thing, but um.
00:16:15.735 --> 00:16:24.554
You've got how it should have ended, and they have the villain pub and every single time the villains are in the pub, in this anime, I just think to myself, someone had to have copied this.
00:16:24.674 --> 00:16:26.684
This has to have come from somewhere.
00:16:26.804 --> 00:16:27.615
'cause that is insane.
00:16:27.674 --> 00:16:29.294
It looks the exact same.
00:16:29.445 --> 00:16:35.115
It's like they copied the villain pub from, from the other, uh, YouTube show.
00:16:35.115 --> 00:16:36.495
If you guys haven't seen it, it's really good.
00:16:37.575 --> 00:16:38.440
uh, yeah, those are.
00:16:38.754 --> 00:16:42.294
Kind of my thoughts, but still highly enjoyable.
00:16:42.325 --> 00:16:45.384
Still really will continue watching it.
00:16:45.445 --> 00:16:47.875
I think for me it's like an eight.
00:16:48.205 --> 00:16:48.684
It's an eight.
00:16:48.894 --> 00:16:49.524
I'll give it an eight.
00:16:52.975 --> 00:16:53.274
Yeah.
00:16:53.695 --> 00:16:56.154
With that, let's go to our next one.
00:16:56.184 --> 00:17:01.315
Um, I guess I'm kind of the only one in the world with a topic, the substance.
00:17:01.315 --> 00:17:02.215
Have you guys heard of this?
00:17:05.484 --> 00:17:05.875
Nope.
00:17:06.234 --> 00:17:06.684
No.
00:17:07.075 --> 00:17:08.214
This movie is brilliant.
00:17:08.759 --> 00:17:10.829
It's really, really freaking good.
00:17:11.519 --> 00:17:14.700
Um, Moore, do you guys know who Demi Moore is?
00:17:16.259 --> 00:17:16.500
Okay.
00:17:16.500 --> 00:17:17.910
She is a aging actress.
00:17:17.910 --> 00:17:21.240
Like she basically plays herself in her, her life.
00:17:21.599 --> 00:17:25.980
Um, she is getting older, so.
00:17:26.369 --> 00:17:36.509
The executives at the place that she works, the studio that she works, just kinda wanna kick her out and replace her with somebody younger and talented and they bring up an advertisement.
00:17:36.509 --> 00:17:43.140
It's like we want the young Demi Moore and someone lets her know about this thing that's called the substance.
00:17:43.920 --> 00:17:44.880
the substance.
00:17:45.150 --> 00:17:55.079
You can shoot yourself up and out of your back, splits a younger version of you, but you can only stay that younger version for a week, and then you have to go back to the older version.
00:17:56.039 --> 00:17:56.880
And it's working for'em.
00:17:56.880 --> 00:18:03.960
They're going back and forth and back and forth, and it says a lot about like we view aging women in our society.
00:18:03.960 --> 00:18:05.309
That was really interesting.
00:18:06.299 --> 00:18:21.210
says a lot about how we view beauty standards, like the waste of youth, all of these different topics that are largely talked about but explored very well very often, and they did a good job with it.
00:18:21.210 --> 00:18:24.839
In this story, the.
00:18:25.859 --> 00:18:29.430
and the younger version kind of starts splitting off more and more and more.
00:18:29.460 --> 00:18:35.369
They get more and more of a different personality, a different way of living.
00:18:36.029 --> 00:18:42.329
And the younger version resents the older version basically for being old, not being able to do all these fun things.
00:18:42.599 --> 00:18:50.130
And the older version resents the younger version for being so like flamboyant and flippant and.
00:18:50.789 --> 00:18:52.859
Not learning from the lessons that she learned.
00:18:52.859 --> 00:18:54.869
They both originally shared memories.
00:18:54.869 --> 00:18:58.140
They should grow, they should become something more.
00:18:58.440 --> 00:19:03.329
And it's, it says a lot about do you act the way that you act?
00:19:03.779 --> 00:19:08.339
Do you act more mature because you are more mature or because you've just aged?
00:19:08.579 --> 00:19:10.079
There's a lot of good questions there.
00:19:10.920 --> 00:19:14.339
So you have this horror movie that has so many different layers to it.
00:19:15.795 --> 00:19:21.134
As the movie goes along, the younger version doesn't want to go back to the older person's body.
00:19:21.134 --> 00:19:23.984
They don't want to have to switch back and forth.
00:19:23.984 --> 00:19:25.244
They just don't want to do it.
00:19:25.545 --> 00:19:36.525
So they start stealing from the older Demi Moore and when they go a week in one day, the older Demi Moore's leg starts to run a little bit.
00:19:37.424 --> 00:19:45.224
And she might start getting like weird humps places, eventually if they don't switch back and forth, the younger version will die.
00:19:46.095 --> 00:19:47.325
has to switch.
00:19:47.984 --> 00:19:59.025
So she has to switch, the older version is now getting more and more deformed and mutated, and she can't go out in public anymore, and she's literally losing her life.
00:19:59.894 --> 00:20:06.105
And because she's losing her life, she's losing her beauty, she's losing all of these different aspects that.
00:20:06.450 --> 00:20:08.039
Have given her so much value.
00:20:10.319 --> 00:20:17.285
feels like she can't go outside anymore and she misses when she's her younger self being.
00:20:18.224 --> 00:20:20.625
some guy look at her and be like, wow, look at that girl.
00:20:21.015 --> 00:20:22.214
And she doesn't get that anymore.
00:20:22.244 --> 00:20:23.505
So she doesn't wanna go outside.
00:20:24.255 --> 00:20:31.154
eventually the depression just pushes her and pushes her and pushes her until she decides, okay, I'm gonna be my younger self again.
00:20:31.575 --> 00:20:38.865
And then the younger self steals from the older self again and again and again, and it becomes this perpetual loop is extremely sad.
00:20:39.525 --> 00:20:41.174
acting is phenomenal.
00:20:42.345 --> 00:20:46.605
it's a, it's a slow burn movie, but the entire time I was just like glued to the screen.
00:20:47.694 --> 00:20:51.539
I, I've never seen anything like this movie, ever.
00:20:51.900 --> 00:20:52.890
I've never seen anything like it.
00:20:53.369 --> 00:20:57.930
It's, uh, it was kind of haunting to me.
00:20:58.170 --> 00:20:59.670
And the ending is, is gruesome.
00:20:59.670 --> 00:21:02.640
Like the ideas are so interesting.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:05.400
I wanna recommend it to you, but the ending is gruesome.
00:21:05.460 --> 00:21:12.029
Like it is, it's like it's some body horror, some very intense body horror, but.
00:21:12.809 --> 00:21:26.009
Part of the body horror makes the point that the movie is trying to make, everything is moving towards these ideas and these points that are, are, are larger than a typical horror movie would be.
00:21:26.009 --> 00:21:31.470
These are the kind of things that I like in horrors, like it's exploring the darker parts of ourselves.
00:21:32.039 --> 00:21:33.450
These are these darker ideals.
00:21:34.380 --> 00:21:40.619
I think this movie is absolutely brilliant and I would, I would genuinely give it a 9.5, like I think it's that good.
00:21:43.119 --> 00:21:43.990
So close to a.
00:21:44.910 --> 00:21:46.049
So close to a 10.
00:21:46.950 --> 00:21:47.759
So close.
00:21:48.630 --> 00:21:51.269
uh, I haven't watched it a second time.
00:21:51.539 --> 00:21:53.730
I'm wondering if it holds up as well.
00:21:53.849 --> 00:21:56.160
'cause I was so glued to like, what happens next?
00:21:56.160 --> 00:22:00.990
What happens next where would I be That invested a second time?
00:22:01.259 --> 00:22:02.009
I don't know.
00:22:02.279 --> 00:22:06.450
I think so, but it, it's just, just so good.
00:22:06.450 --> 00:22:06.990
It's so good.
00:22:07.170 --> 00:22:07.799
Such a good movie.
00:22:10.470 --> 00:22:17.730
Um, Josh, I'd be interested in what you think about this one if you ever watch it, but it is, uh, there is, there's quite a bit of nudity unfortunately.
00:22:18.210 --> 00:22:24.059
Um, but the ideas are just super interesting when they switch places.
00:22:24.059 --> 00:22:32.369
Both the older and younger version are, are naked and they used the older body versus the younger body to also make this point.
00:22:33.000 --> 00:22:34.140
But none of it felt like.
00:22:36.359 --> 00:22:44.849
Uh, all of it felt like you were watching somebody create art who wanted to convey an idea versus shoving a message, if that makes sense.
00:22:46.230 --> 00:22:53.309
Anyway, with that, we'll go on to our other shared topic, practical magic.
00:22:54.295 --> 00:23:01.109
And Lauren, you are the one who originally brought this up, so tell us what you think about this movie.
00:23:02.634 --> 00:23:09.714
Okay, so Practical Magic follows, um, oh, why can't I think of her name?
00:23:09.744 --> 00:23:10.974
Miss Congeniality,
00:23:12.269 --> 00:23:13.079
Sandra book
00:23:13.434 --> 00:23:14.035
Sandra Bullock.
00:23:14.035 --> 00:23:14.545
Thank you.
00:23:15.329 --> 00:23:17.845
and the really, really, really attractive redhead, what's her name?
00:23:19.464 --> 00:23:20.454
oh, I have no idea.
00:23:20.724 --> 00:23:21.295
Um.
00:23:21.345 --> 00:23:22.144
also super famous.
00:23:23.244 --> 00:23:23.815
Yeah.
00:23:24.265 --> 00:23:28.105
Uh, so it's following, uh, Sandra Bullock's character.
00:23:28.164 --> 00:23:38.875
Um, when they're little, uh, there's like this curse that if their family here is like this Beatle, then like their husband's gonna die or going to happen.
00:23:40.015 --> 00:23:45.924
so the younger girl's like, oh, well then I'm gonna cast a spell.
00:23:46.134 --> 00:23:47.694
So that, um.
00:23:48.640 --> 00:23:55.359
My husband's gonna be somebody who doesn't exist because I'm gonna come up with all these wild ideas so that that never happens to me.
00:23:55.779 --> 00:23:59.049
Um, so it's like he has two different colored eyes.
00:23:59.049 --> 00:24:03.339
His favorite, uh, his favorite shapes a star.
00:24:03.700 --> 00:24:10.599
Uh, all these like things that she can think of, um, and family are witches.
00:24:11.349 --> 00:24:14.470
It's like this family of witches in, uh, modern days.
00:24:14.950 --> 00:24:15.849
And so.
00:24:16.779 --> 00:24:23.230
grows up, she ends up marrying somebody, but then tragedy befalls him and she's like, I'm done with everything.
00:24:23.230 --> 00:24:24.099
I'm done with magic.
00:24:24.099 --> 00:24:24.519
I'm done.
00:24:24.519 --> 00:24:26.890
Like, guys couldn't bring him back.
00:24:26.890 --> 00:24:36.130
Like, um, so she was like, she was really angry at her aunts for like not bringing him back, uh, for a while.
00:24:36.130 --> 00:24:44.049
And um, so it's very interesting, um,'cause.
00:24:45.295 --> 00:25:01.134
I think Sandra Bullock has a very niche set of movies that these circumstances all happen in where she's trying to save somebody from dying and like knows the future and like the, like it would be weird if it happened twice.
00:25:01.164 --> 00:25:01.734
It's really weird.
00:25:01.734 --> 00:25:02.424
It happened three times.
00:25:04.644 --> 00:25:12.625
Um, but anyways, so, uh, her sister is kind of more of like a wild child and, um.
00:25:13.404 --> 00:25:21.295
goes off with this abusive guy and ends up killing him, uh, on accident in self-defense.
00:25:23.125 --> 00:25:23.454
Yeah.
00:25:23.694 --> 00:25:27.115
So she brings back the body and she's like, what do I do with this?
00:25:27.505 --> 00:25:41.065
Um, and so the, they end up burying him and, and then the, uh, the sheriff that's like looking for this guy ends up coming into town and is exactly what she had.
00:25:41.065 --> 00:25:41.125
Um.
00:25:42.805 --> 00:25:48.325
Said who she would fall in love with and like, be her husband when she was a kid.
00:25:48.355 --> 00:25:51.144
His favorite color, his favorite thing's a star.
00:25:51.174 --> 00:25:52.855
'cause he's a, he's a sheriff.
00:25:53.305 --> 00:25:54.265
Different colored eyes.
00:25:54.625 --> 00:26:02.184
Um, anyway, so you have like this whole thing of where Vanderbilt is trying to like, cover up for her sister.
00:26:02.515 --> 00:26:09.505
Um, and like all this intense shenanigans and there's like little bits of, uh, magic in.
00:26:09.894 --> 00:26:13.075
This movie that like, I find very charming.
00:26:14.694 --> 00:26:23.005
and then there's like the quote that I have in my kitchen that's like, plant lavender for luck or keep lavender by your garden gate.
00:26:23.244 --> 00:26:26.214
Uh, I can't remember the quote exactly.
00:26:26.214 --> 00:26:27.595
And fall in love whenever you can.
00:26:28.224 --> 00:26:32.815
Um, I mean this is, I know this has like a cult following.
00:26:33.144 --> 00:26:34.585
I, I'm like a.
00:26:35.275 --> 00:26:39.325
casual watcher of this when it's, sometimes I'll watch it.
00:26:39.325 --> 00:26:41.904
It's not quite my yearly watch.
00:26:43.644 --> 00:26:47.365
it's like every other year I'll watch this in the fall.
00:26:48.474 --> 00:26:55.009
Um, but yeah, uh, I, I would probably give it like.
00:26:56.634 --> 00:26:57.684
7.5.
00:26:58.164 --> 00:26:59.934
Um, I enjoy it.
00:27:00.325 --> 00:27:01.644
Uh, I like Sandra Bullock.
00:27:01.644 --> 00:27:04.345
I like the, one of the aunts.
00:27:04.345 --> 00:27:05.275
I love her.
00:27:05.335 --> 00:27:10.255
I can't think of, um, she said so many things, but I like her as well.
00:27:10.644 --> 00:27:12.535
Um, yeah.
00:27:12.805 --> 00:27:16.224
Um, yeah, 7.5.
00:27:17.184 --> 00:27:17.394
it.
00:27:18.609 --> 00:27:18.900
cool.
00:27:19.005 --> 00:27:19.244
Cool.
00:27:20.190 --> 00:27:24.359
All right, Josh, I'm curious, what do you think I'm gonna rate this movie.
00:27:26.163 --> 00:27:27.483
Uh, 7.5.
00:27:28.589 --> 00:27:29.039
Okay.
00:27:31.349 --> 00:27:33.660
I do not like this movie.
00:27:35.910 --> 00:27:37.920
I don't, and I wish I did.
00:27:38.250 --> 00:27:39.750
The things that I like about this movie.
00:27:39.930 --> 00:27:42.480
One, I think the Sheriff Star thing is actually really cool.
00:27:42.630 --> 00:27:45.630
I legitimately was like, I like that idea.
00:27:45.839 --> 00:27:48.089
The idea of the different talismans can mean different things.
00:27:48.134 --> 00:27:49.785
I thought that was a cool idea.
00:27:50.535 --> 00:27:58.035
Um, two, this is the most attractive Sandra Bullock has ever been in any movie, ever.
00:27:59.234 --> 00:28:03.494
very, very good looking in this movie to the point where I was like, wow.
00:28:04.845 --> 00:28:06.224
Uh, the ants are funny.
00:28:06.704 --> 00:28:07.815
I did enjoy the ants.
00:28:08.535 --> 00:28:17.595
The thing that I don't like about this movie at all is you have the, father character who dies to this old curse, right?
00:28:18.555 --> 00:28:21.494
And he dies.
00:28:21.494 --> 00:28:24.015
And then all of a sudden these sheriff's here and they're like in love.
00:28:24.015 --> 00:28:26.744
And I wasn't this love at all.
00:28:26.744 --> 00:28:28.244
I was not going for this love at all.
00:28:28.365 --> 00:28:29.384
I don't think it's cute.
00:28:29.835 --> 00:28:36.855
The fact that it feels all magically for, uh, forced, like it feels magically forced is icky to me.
00:28:36.914 --> 00:28:38.295
I don't enjoy it at all.
00:28:40.019 --> 00:28:41.940
And you could say it's like fate or whatever.
00:28:41.940 --> 00:28:43.529
I did not think it was like fate or whatever.
00:28:43.529 --> 00:28:46.799
It feels like magical, like rape in my mind.
00:28:47.039 --> 00:28:48.000
I don't like it at all.
00:28:48.359 --> 00:28:58.559
Uh, I found the thing to be, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
00:28:58.589 --> 00:29:00.750
Like sisterhood of traveling pants does not work.
00:29:00.900 --> 00:29:01.740
This felt like that.
00:29:02.190 --> 00:29:02.880
Didn't really like it.
00:29:02.880 --> 00:29:04.019
They're both great actresses.
00:29:04.200 --> 00:29:09.000
I really buy the whole sister bonding thing, which is really important to buy into this movie.
00:29:09.990 --> 00:29:14.519
whole idea of them having to murder this guy, they've done magic their entire life.
00:29:14.519 --> 00:29:20.009
You don't know how much magic to put in to be able to like, put the guy asleep or get, uh, get him to go somewhere else.
00:29:20.009 --> 00:29:21.720
Like you can't do anything.
00:29:22.109 --> 00:29:22.769
Really.
00:29:23.670 --> 00:29:24.180
Why?
00:29:24.869 --> 00:29:25.589
don't get it.
00:29:26.069 --> 00:29:31.769
Um, I really like Sandra Bullock like a lot.
00:29:32.654 --> 00:29:33.855
I think she's a great actress.
00:29:34.305 --> 00:29:35.505
I was excited for this movie.
00:29:36.494 --> 00:29:39.494
I do not like this movie.
00:29:39.944 --> 00:29:52.424
Um, the, the guy comes back as a haunted spirit or whatever, and then enters, uh, de colt, kidman's body, and it's like, again, just unappealing.
00:29:53.025 --> 00:29:54.644
And it wasn't like horrifying.
00:29:54.644 --> 00:29:55.875
It was just unappealing.
00:29:56.954 --> 00:30:00.779
It's just got a lot of stuff in it that I was like, I don't like that.
00:30:01.650 --> 00:30:02.339
don't like that.
00:30:02.609 --> 00:30:12.299
I don't like that there's good in it, but there's a lot I do not like, and I would give it a three, maybe a four.
00:30:12.420 --> 00:30:19.619
I might be convinced for a four, but I'm not a fan of this movie, Josh, what do you think?
00:30:21.334 --> 00:30:29.644
Uh, I hate to be this guy, but I kind of gotta agree with Conlan.
00:30:29.973 --> 00:30:30.423
Um.
00:30:31.624 --> 00:30:33.394
I also hate this movie.
00:30:34.233 --> 00:30:38.193
Um, I think the acting is bad.
00:30:38.253 --> 00:30:39.784
There's no world building.
00:30:39.784 --> 00:30:42.153
There are no rules to this magic.
00:30:42.574 --> 00:30:48.723
Um, I wasn't mad that she didn't know how much to give him because like, it was a panic situation.
00:30:48.723 --> 00:30:52.263
She was driving and she was just freaking out'cause her sister was being attacked.
00:30:52.983 --> 00:30:54.663
Like it felt, not like,
00:30:54.775 --> 00:30:55.285
there's the
00:30:55.294 --> 00:30:56.973
I don't know how much to give her.
00:30:57.295 --> 00:30:57.535
and
00:30:57.589 --> 00:30:57.880
Okay.
00:30:58.134 --> 00:30:59.305
could have driven away.
00:30:59.484 --> 00:31:01.194
They could have driven away
00:31:01.564 --> 00:31:04.354
I agree with you there, but with the poisoning, right?
00:31:04.354 --> 00:31:05.884
Like she's just freaking out.
00:31:05.884 --> 00:31:07.144
She's just doing whatever.
00:31:07.683 --> 00:31:24.993
Um, the reason I personally hate this movie so much is I feel like the message is, no matter how unrealistic your list is, ladies, you'll find everything you're looking for.
00:31:25.140 --> 00:31:26.339
also agree with that
00:31:26.733 --> 00:31:32.493
And also men don't matter at all, uh, because the dad dies.
00:31:32.493 --> 00:31:41.703
And the only reason the dad ever matters is when Sandra Bullock and her sister are laying in the bed and they say, did you ever forgive mom?
00:31:41.703 --> 00:31:42.634
And she says, sometimes.
00:31:42.963 --> 00:31:44.134
And that is it.
00:31:44.403 --> 00:31:49.564
And then the new little girls die, dad dies.
00:31:49.653 --> 00:31:51.723
And they're like, oh man, that's a bummer.
00:31:52.054 --> 00:31:53.763
Anyway, and.
00:31:54.169 --> 00:31:58.759
Then the end of this movie happens and they're like, and Sandra Bullock falls in love again.
00:31:59.598 --> 00:32:01.638
And I'm like, okay, so that guy's a goner.
00:32:01.638 --> 00:32:02.808
He is gonna die too.
00:32:03.199 --> 00:32:05.689
They didn't do anything to solve this curse.
00:32:05.808 --> 00:32:08.209
They didn't, there's no rules to this magic.
00:32:08.209 --> 00:32:09.858
I don't get what's going on.
00:32:10.219 --> 00:32:12.108
Um, it felt very.
00:32:13.189 --> 00:32:14.179
Back and forth.
00:32:14.179 --> 00:32:16.578
Like they didn't know what movie they were making.
00:32:16.969 --> 00:32:19.578
'cause it was originally like, it's a movie about sisterhood.
00:32:19.578 --> 00:32:20.898
No, it's a movie about love.
00:32:20.898 --> 00:32:22.189
No, it's a movie about abuse.
00:32:22.189 --> 00:32:23.898
No, it's a movie about sisterhood again.
00:32:24.348 --> 00:32:27.558
And it, there was no flow to this movie.
00:32:28.038 --> 00:32:30.348
Uh, there was no plot to this movie.
00:32:30.739 --> 00:32:36.048
It literally was like, Hey, let's make a Halloween hate man movie.
00:32:36.874 --> 00:32:41.374
And we're gonna make men be either abusive or just not matter the end.
00:32:41.703 --> 00:32:42.663
Yay us.
00:32:42.663 --> 00:32:46.923
That's literally what it felt like to be, uh, total, total crap.
00:32:46.923 --> 00:32:47.433
I'm sorry.
00:32:48.095 --> 00:32:51.785
Even the children don't care that their dad just died.
00:32:51.994 --> 00:32:54.305
Like I don't even remember a part where they were sad.
00:32:55.023 --> 00:32:55.864
There wasn't a part.
00:32:55.864 --> 00:32:57.699
It immediately cuts to Sandra Bullock.
00:32:57.795 --> 00:32:59.055
he's a sheriff.
00:32:59.509 --> 00:32:59.730
Yay.
00:33:01.179 --> 00:33:01.709
Well, no.
00:33:01.773 --> 00:33:04.308
'cause they do show up the one time before that.
00:33:05.959 --> 00:33:11.868
Cassandra Bullock is sad not getting out of bed, and she, the daughter shows up and says, stop being sad, mom.
00:33:11.868 --> 00:33:12.469
Get up
00:33:15.404 --> 00:33:16.424
Oh man.
00:33:16.755 --> 00:33:18.795
I, I did not enjoy this movie.
00:33:20.234 --> 00:33:20.595
Oh.
00:33:22.125 --> 00:33:23.265
What is your rating, Josh?
00:33:24.288 --> 00:33:25.578
negative six.
00:33:26.069 --> 00:33:26.789
Okay.
00:33:27.809 --> 00:33:28.710
Uh, there were a few.
00:33:29.369 --> 00:33:31.859
I don't, I, I want to be generous and give a three.
00:33:31.950 --> 00:33:40.230
I wanna be generous and give a three'cause there are a few things, a few things that I liked a few, but I did not like this movie.
00:33:40.289 --> 00:33:41.039
I'm sorry, Lauren.
00:33:42.289 --> 00:33:43.250
Uh, I feel bad.
00:33:43.250 --> 00:33:48.740
I've been, uh, recommending all the crap stuff this past couple of days.
00:33:49.308 --> 00:33:53.808
Genuinely, like am so sorry that I hate this movie so much.
00:33:53.838 --> 00:33:56.269
'cause I really love Sandra Bullock.
00:33:56.509 --> 00:33:58.909
Uh, like, I love Miss Congeniality.
00:33:59.479 --> 00:34:01.969
I love the proposals.
00:34:01.969 --> 00:34:04.128
One of my favorite rom-coms,
00:34:04.454 --> 00:34:04.934
Ever.
00:34:05.239 --> 00:34:16.338
like, I would love to love this movie, but when I feel like it's just giving a bad message to women and hating men, I.
00:34:19.309 --> 00:34:21.619
I, I don't see redeeming qualities in it.
00:34:21.619 --> 00:34:23.599
I don't see anything good in this movie.
00:34:23.958 --> 00:34:26.329
Uh, there's no consistency in this movie.
00:34:26.599 --> 00:34:28.789
Are the townspeople afraid of the witches?
00:34:29.088 --> 00:34:30.199
I don't know.
00:34:30.378 --> 00:34:34.458
Because they treat'em like crap until they say, Hey, come do this, spell with me.
00:34:34.608 --> 00:34:36.378
Then they're all like, what?
00:34:36.409 --> 00:34:37.489
That's so cool.
00:34:37.518 --> 00:34:38.358
Let's go do that.
00:34:38.358 --> 00:34:41.778
And then this demon sister starts wigging out.
00:34:42.329 --> 00:34:44.849
and they're just like, whoa, that's so
00:34:44.974 --> 00:34:46.054
so cool.
00:34:46.534 --> 00:34:51.213
Yeah, it's, uh, I, I have no positive notes for this movie.
00:34:51.273 --> 00:34:53.463
It's, it's not good.
00:34:53.463 --> 00:34:54.063
I'm sorry.
00:34:55.184 --> 00:34:59.085
Yeah, I'm dropping my score'cause Josh is right.
00:34:59.085 --> 00:34:59.505
I tried it.
00:34:59.534 --> 00:35:00.554
I'm trying to be nice.
00:35:00.769 --> 00:35:02.625
I don't, I did not like this movie.
00:35:03.375 --> 00:35:04.275
I did not like this movie.
00:35:04.394 --> 00:35:07.724
This gets a two because Sandra Bullock is so attractive.
00:35:10.514 --> 00:35:14.565
I know, like be nice to this.
00:35:14.565 --> 00:35:15.675
I do not like this movie.
00:35:16.375 --> 00:35:17.695
You should just drop it to a one.
00:35:18.554 --> 00:35:19.635
I just dropped to a one.
00:35:19.695 --> 00:35:19.934
It's a
00:35:20.005 --> 00:35:20.215
Yeah.
00:35:20.835 --> 00:35:21.494
This is a one.
00:35:21.945 --> 00:35:22.784
I don't like this movie.
00:35:23.655 --> 00:35:29.000
And this is, unfortunately, this is my least favorite cinder blogs movie, I can't think of one I don't like.
00:35:29.159 --> 00:35:29.864
I like this.
00:35:31.855 --> 00:35:32.664
Bird box.
00:35:33.344 --> 00:35:35.250
like Bird Box more than I like this, and I don't think it's a very good movie.
00:35:36.153 --> 00:35:36.784
Gravity.
00:35:36.784 --> 00:35:38.818
I haven't seen it, but I've heard it's pretty bad.
00:35:39.255 --> 00:35:40.755
I actually think Gravity is a decent movie.
00:35:41.568 --> 00:35:41.858
Okay.
00:35:42.405 --> 00:35:43.065
It's a fun time.
00:35:43.695 --> 00:35:44.835
It's not great, but it's a fun time.
00:35:46.784 --> 00:35:49.965
Um, it's just, yeah, this is my least favorite one.
00:35:49.994 --> 00:35:53.835
Even mis Congeniality two is better than this movie that's not a good movie.
00:35:55.974 --> 00:35:56.545
Take that back.
00:35:58.335 --> 00:35:59.954
Do you like mis congeniality too?
00:36:00.775 --> 00:36:02.635
I mean, like I don't have any problems with it,
00:36:04.215 --> 00:36:04.485
Yeah.
00:36:04.489 --> 00:36:06.474
but I haven't seen it in years, so.
00:36:07.304 --> 00:36:07.574
either.
00:36:07.635 --> 00:36:09.255
Maybe that should be one of our topics.
00:36:09.614 --> 00:36:11.114
Anyway, guys, that's gonna be our episode.
00:36:11.114 --> 00:36:12.824
Sorry I ended on a bummer.
00:36:12.824 --> 00:36:19.485
No, if we're all completely wrong and you think practical magic is fantastic, you're wrong and that's okay.
00:36:19.724 --> 00:36:22.454
But you can tell us why we're wrong and that's also okay.
00:36:22.905 --> 00:36:26.175
I hope that you guys have a better tomorrow than today and just keep going forward.
00:36:26.175 --> 00:36:28.695
We appreciate y'all like, subscribe, all that good stuff.
00:36:28.695 --> 00:36:29.114
See you guys.
00:36:29.114 --> 00:36:29.175
Bye.
00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:01.620
All right everybody.
00:00:01.620 --> 00:00:04.919
It is onscreen offscreen back with another episode.
00:00:05.219 --> 00:00:11.490
We've got Justice Josh, just so great at everything.
00:00:11.669 --> 00:00:19.289
He's constantly honoring and like if he were in the Ages, he would be that night in Shining Armor.
00:00:19.385 --> 00:00:23.039
And then we've got lovely, luxurious, lyrical Lauren.
00:00:27.213 --> 00:00:29.884
Sorry, Conlin, or sorry, audience con's.
00:00:29.884 --> 00:00:30.934
Having a stroke.
00:00:31.594 --> 00:00:31.864
Uh.
00:00:44.054 --> 00:00:46.454
Lauren is the greatest like in the entire world.
00:00:46.575 --> 00:00:50.475
There's very, very few people ever get to be just as good as she is.
00:00:51.314 --> 00:00:54.854
We are gonna start off this episode after my great introduction.
00:00:56.054 --> 00:01:02.594
Best introduction ever our basically other shared topic, my hero, academia.
00:01:04.394 --> 00:01:07.165
Josh, I would like to hear your thoughts first.
00:01:09.453 --> 00:01:09.933
Okay.
00:01:09.993 --> 00:01:14.224
Um, season one, I absolutely love this show.
00:01:14.554 --> 00:01:16.024
I think it's phenomenal.
00:01:16.233 --> 00:01:22.474
It gives very sky high vibes, um, but as an enemy, um, and I love Sky High.
00:01:22.474 --> 00:01:24.813
This is something that's right up my alley.
00:01:25.444 --> 00:01:33.334
Um, I was actually originally rooting for him to get gadgets and like become a hero.
00:01:35.269 --> 00:01:36.858
Not through magical means.
00:01:37.429 --> 00:01:44.358
Um, yeah, a Batman or a sidekick from season two, I really love her.
00:01:44.989 --> 00:01:52.218
Um, but he does become a hero through magical means, and I wasn't mad at it actually.
00:01:52.308 --> 00:01:54.588
I thought it was very good what they decided to do.
00:01:55.368 --> 00:01:58.759
Um, I love the villain arc in season one.
00:01:59.569 --> 00:02:02.509
It was a little bit simpler, but they were doing like.
00:02:04.099 --> 00:02:04.789
Set up.
00:02:05.239 --> 00:02:08.868
So I'm, I was to, I was very satisfied with it.
00:02:09.649 --> 00:02:16.368
Um, URIs and MAD's friendship is like so awesome.
00:02:16.429 --> 00:02:17.929
I absolutely love them two.
00:02:17.929 --> 00:02:19.278
I'm totally shipping them.
00:02:19.368 --> 00:02:24.199
Those two, those two should be together for sure.
00:02:24.498 --> 00:02:27.468
Um, so I gave season one an 8.3 out of 10.
00:02:28.848 --> 00:02:30.709
Um, season two.
00:02:30.769 --> 00:02:34.758
I love the sports, um, stuff.
00:02:34.938 --> 00:02:37.248
Uh, very cool.
00:02:37.308 --> 00:02:38.688
Introdu introduction.
00:02:38.688 --> 00:02:42.468
I love how they, he did a different kind of villain.
00:02:43.038 --> 00:02:49.158
Um, staying is one of the greatest anime villains, plain and simple.
00:02:50.913 --> 00:02:58.713
He was such a good villain for this and it, they did the Vader thing where they didn't really talk about it too much.
00:02:58.713 --> 00:03:10.174
They just kind of showed you a couple of things and left it for you to just understand like, that dude is terrifying and a totally paid off.
00:03:10.264 --> 00:03:11.854
Uh, so I gave season two.
00:03:12.394 --> 00:03:12.723
Um.
00:03:13.489 --> 00:03:21.229
At 8.2 outta 10, uh, I wasn't as high on it'cause I, I still don't get why Bgo hates Madia so much.
00:03:21.679 --> 00:03:30.739
I understand why Madia wants to beat Bgo so much, but the fact that it's reversed and he just hates him so much, I just, I don't get that.
00:03:31.158 --> 00:03:39.049
Um, especially since Madia has been just like praising and loving him and talking him up for so long.
00:03:41.899 --> 00:03:42.528
I get it.
00:03:42.528 --> 00:03:50.778
If you, if he had beaten you at something, but he never has, you got no reason to outshine him.
00:03:50.778 --> 00:03:55.549
He's a little bug that is an irritant and I just, he absolutely hates it.
00:03:55.549 --> 00:03:57.408
And I don't, I don't get that at all.
00:03:57.949 --> 00:04:07.699
Um, season three, uh, also what they do with the villains, how they basically merge season one and season two in a very.
00:04:09.558 --> 00:04:10.878
It makes total sense.
00:04:10.878 --> 00:04:12.528
It evolves into that.
00:04:12.588 --> 00:04:13.998
I absolutely love that.
00:04:14.508 --> 00:04:21.108
Um, and once again, URI and MAD's relationship is getting even better, better, better.
00:04:21.108 --> 00:04:22.548
I shipped them so hard.
00:04:23.509 --> 00:04:27.889
Um, I gave it an 8.1 out of 10 so far.
00:04:27.889 --> 00:04:30.439
This show is absolutely fantastic.
00:04:30.528 --> 00:04:31.548
It is so good.
00:04:32.059 --> 00:04:33.204
I'm excited to watch more.
00:04:34.668 --> 00:04:41.449
I have gotten some information that ruins it a little bit for me, but I'm still loving the show.
00:04:41.959 --> 00:04:47.869
It's still a fantastic show and, um, I, I wanna watch more for sure.
00:04:49.399 --> 00:04:49.689
Cool.
00:04:49.694 --> 00:04:49.754
Cool.
00:04:51.074 --> 00:04:51.524
All right.
00:04:51.615 --> 00:04:53.384
What about you, Lauren?
00:04:54.649 --> 00:04:57.560
Um, I'm absolutely obsessed, uh, with the show.
00:04:57.560 --> 00:04:59.540
As you can see, I have a razor head.
00:04:59.540 --> 00:05:07.040
I have aka I have all my madia and I'm so mad.
00:05:07.040 --> 00:05:08.269
I forget his name.
00:05:09.709 --> 00:05:13.019
but, uh, I know his rival Tetsu Tetsu.
00:05:13.100 --> 00:05:14.629
Why can I not think of his name?
00:05:15.829 --> 00:05:17.180
Anyway, but I have him.
00:05:17.209 --> 00:05:18.230
That's, uh.
00:05:19.644 --> 00:05:32.964
So I have like, uh, and then I have all of the manga because I started watching this when I think there was only four seasons out and I finished two, four seasons of the anime.
00:05:32.964 --> 00:05:39.295
And I was like, I can't wait for them to make more anime, so I'm just gonna go buy all of the books.
00:05:39.295 --> 00:05:46.435
And then I read up to where the Mongo was being released and then was reading each chapter each week.
00:05:48.819 --> 00:05:50.889
Yeah, I absolutely love this series.
00:05:50.889 --> 00:05:53.350
I love Madia as a character.
00:05:53.649 --> 00:06:14.439
Normally those type of characters annoy me because he is, um, he's like the cinnamon role that he, he's smart in the way that he analyzes everything and everyone, so he like knows their, their weaknesses where they can, uh, do better and things like that.
00:06:14.709 --> 00:06:16.360
Which, um.
00:06:17.199 --> 00:06:32.709
I've seen all of the movies and I don't like the movies as much as I like the seasons because they don't stay true to MAD's like analytically, how do I work around a problem?
00:06:33.519 --> 00:06:35.379
they're always like, I got a punch.
00:06:35.470 --> 00:06:36.160
Harder.
00:06:38.069 --> 00:06:39.874
He does that in the show too, to be fired.
00:06:40.089 --> 00:06:41.589
does, he does.
00:06:41.860 --> 00:06:44.019
Which, um, but he.
00:06:44.500 --> 00:07:01.189
Like not to the extent of, and I can't remember which one it specifically is, but I actually went and saw it in theaters the villain's superpower is whatever you do to him, he just reflects it and it.
00:07:02.050 --> 00:07:03.310
Hits you twice as hard.
00:07:03.759 --> 00:07:10.120
Um, and so he's like, I just, he's like, I have to push through my boundaries and hit him even harder.
00:07:10.509 --> 00:07:13.689
Like, no, I'm like, think around the problem.
00:07:15.699 --> 00:07:17.199
Oh, it made me so angry.
00:07:17.589 --> 00:07:19.569
Um, because yeah, he just.
00:07:21.144 --> 00:07:44.064
And one thing that makes me laugh about this series is when he does, uh, when he punches, they'll say like, SMASH, or like, and it's always like, um, US cities or like, or if it's a really big one and it's like Texas smash, it kills me.
00:07:44.064 --> 00:07:45.144
I think it's hilarious.
00:07:45.394 --> 00:07:46.564
Clobber.
00:07:47.035 --> 00:08:00.115
Well, it's always smash no matter what, but it's like there's different, uh, cities and, and like states and stuff that they'll put in.
00:08:00.834 --> 00:08:12.355
Um, but yeah, I agree with Josh with staying as one of my favorite, villains and I love how he, um.
00:08:13.180 --> 00:08:16.600
That's one of my favorite arcs in the My Hero universe.
00:08:16.930 --> 00:08:22.149
Um, followed up with,'cause you guys are only reviewing seasons one, two, and three.
00:08:22.569 --> 00:08:25.060
My next favorite arc is coming up for you guys.
00:08:25.300 --> 00:08:30.519
So, um, yeah, I, I really like it.
00:08:30.519 --> 00:08:34.779
I think eraser head's one of my favorite characters.
00:08:34.779 --> 00:08:35.740
I think he's just.
00:08:36.100 --> 00:08:37.389
Absolutely hilarious.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:43.125
Um, I love how he like shows up to class in a sleeping bag and
00:08:43.239 --> 00:08:44.229
Do with it yourselves.
00:08:44.229 --> 00:08:44.798
You're adults.
00:08:44.798 --> 00:08:45.053
I don't care.
00:08:47.034 --> 00:08:47.934
so freaking funny.
00:08:48.754 --> 00:08:53.379
Um, and, uh, yeah, he's one of my favorite characters.
00:08:53.409 --> 00:08:56.049
I also really like all my, um.
00:08:57.190 --> 00:08:59.320
He's just like trying to be a symbol of hope.
00:08:59.679 --> 00:09:08.649
Um, and like how stain, uh, if anybody has watched, hasn't watched the series.
00:09:09.129 --> 00:09:16.899
Uh, stain has an ideology that heroes are just being heroes for the money of it and aren't actually being heroic.
00:09:17.350 --> 00:09:18.879
Um, other than almight.
00:09:19.360 --> 00:09:19.539
Um.
00:09:20.289 --> 00:09:26.500
And so he is like, he feels like the only person who can actually put him behind bars would be Almight.
00:09:26.919 --> 00:09:36.309
And they call him Heroes Killer Stain because he is going around and killing all of the heroes that he doesn't think, fit up to what a hero should be.
00:09:36.789 --> 00:09:45.730
Um, and I, yeah, it's, and his power is like, it, it's so frightening because if he gets like, um.
00:09:45.774 --> 00:09:48.565
If he tastes your blood, he can freeze you.
00:09:48.985 --> 00:09:58.284
Uh, so he goes around with like these knives and stuff and he cuts, people, licks their blood and then, um, yeah, makes'em freeze and they can kill'em.
00:09:58.764 --> 00:10:09.174
Uh, but yeah, I absolutely love how the in this anime like it is in an ensemble.
00:10:09.625 --> 00:10:13.764
Uh, and, but every single character I feel like is given.
00:10:14.125 --> 00:10:21.325
Attention and love with their backstory, with their arcs, like even just the smallest of them.
00:10:21.684 --> 00:10:28.164
Uh, and it's like, it's shown in the, in the manga, and I think it shines through in the anime as well.
00:10:28.524 --> 00:10:31.014
I absolutely love this series.
00:10:32.304 --> 00:10:34.225
I would rank it as.
00:10:37.345 --> 00:10:39.205
I'm trying to give it a reason not to be a 10.
00:10:40.658 --> 00:10:41.828
You can give tens.
00:10:42.024 --> 00:10:43.884
I think it's a 10 for me.
00:10:44.139 --> 00:10:46.928
Everybody on this podcast gives tens.
00:10:46.928 --> 00:10:47.974
It's totally okay.
00:10:48.629 --> 00:10:52.799
No, no, I made a, I had a brain hemorrhage.
00:10:54.950 --> 00:10:55.240
yeah.
00:10:55.240 --> 00:10:56.720
At the beginning of this episode.
00:10:58.049 --> 00:11:01.019
No, I give a 10 to the, but whatcha talking about I would give tens?
00:11:01.259 --> 00:11:02.309
Tens don't exist.
00:11:03.490 --> 00:11:13.509
Um, but yeah, I, I, think of a reason not to give it a 10, um, except for later, so 9.5.
00:11:14.679 --> 00:11:18.309
So, but I don't wanna ruin anything for you guys.
00:11:19.539 --> 00:11:23.799
the anime, I would say Monga stays a 10.
00:11:25.904 --> 00:11:26.174
Okay.
00:11:27.225 --> 00:11:27.495
Okay.
00:11:29.115 --> 00:11:32.924
I, um, really, really, really like this show.
00:11:33.345 --> 00:11:34.664
Like a lot, actually.
00:11:35.325 --> 00:11:37.904
did hit my, I'm kind of done with anime.
00:11:38.595 --> 00:11:42.914
tried to watch a little bit more of season four and I was like, I can't do it right now.
00:11:42.975 --> 00:11:44.024
I just can't.
00:11:45.044 --> 00:11:53.595
Um, one of the most impressive things about this anime, honestly, every single one of these always has one creepy pervert character.
00:11:53.835 --> 00:11:55.125
Every single one of them.
00:11:55.245 --> 00:11:58.004
And they're always the most annoying character in the anime.
00:11:58.004 --> 00:12:01.184
And most of the time they ruin the show.
00:12:02.250 --> 00:12:07.110
Like demon Slayer has the yellow haired freak and he is awful.
00:12:07.470 --> 00:12:11.159
I skip parts with him in it'cause he is such a terrible character.
00:12:11.759 --> 00:12:15.299
This one has the purple haired guy who throws the goblets.
00:12:15.299 --> 00:12:16.320
I can't remember his name,
00:12:17.190 --> 00:12:17.610
Mineta.
00:12:18.375 --> 00:12:24.014
He's, he's still a creepy freak and I wish that they wouldn't put that in the animes, but he is by far the best one.
00:12:24.014 --> 00:12:25.394
Like it is not even close.
00:12:25.394 --> 00:12:27.284
He is by miles the best one.
00:12:27.975 --> 00:12:39.674
there's the part where they're going through the, the like tournament, the, the challenges where they're facing the teachers and they literally have him develop as a character based on him being a pervert.
00:12:40.274 --> 00:12:41.835
That is a miracle in anime.
00:12:41.894 --> 00:12:43.424
Anime has never done that.
00:12:43.595 --> 00:12:45.245
I have never seen anything like that.
00:12:45.304 --> 00:12:46.294
That's insane.
00:12:46.534 --> 00:12:50.434
They actually made a storyline that didn't suck with one of those characters.
00:12:50.585 --> 00:12:51.455
Hallelujah.
00:12:51.634 --> 00:12:52.625
Praise this show.
00:12:53.225 --> 00:12:58.414
Um, I, I think the, I think everything in this anime is really good.
00:12:58.715 --> 00:13:07.654
I think there are better aspects other animes, but it's hardly ever done in the, in a solid package as well.
00:13:08.315 --> 00:13:11.284
So like demon slayer, I think the fights are just better.
00:13:12.450 --> 00:13:14.340
I think they, the animation is better.
00:13:14.340 --> 00:13:20.220
I, I think the fights are better, but the fights are really good in this, soul eater.
00:13:20.220 --> 00:13:28.259
I like the power sets that are in soul eater better, but all of the powers are good in this, uh, black clover.
00:13:28.259 --> 00:13:28.320
I.
00:13:29.700 --> 00:13:33.450
think the world is more interesting, but the world in this is good.
00:13:33.779 --> 00:13:36.360
So everything they, they just do everything really well.
00:13:36.539 --> 00:13:38.700
The villains are absolutely excellent in this.
00:13:39.090 --> 00:13:47.129
My biggest negative to this show is I love seeing characters develop and watching how their power sets are going to improve.
00:13:47.519 --> 00:13:52.830
So like demon slayer, I'm really interested in what he will learn and how he will get stronger.
00:13:53.549 --> 00:13:56.850
this one, I'm kind of like, well, we see almight.
00:13:57.644 --> 00:13:58.995
And he's gonna become that.
00:13:59.924 --> 00:14:01.904
So, okay.
00:14:02.745 --> 00:14:03.674
And that doesn't ruin the show.
00:14:03.674 --> 00:14:16.934
I still really enjoy the show, but I wish his powers kind of shifted and were a little bit different than Almight, where now it just kind of feels like, oh, his body can't handle all the power and his body's getting stronger.
00:14:18.585 --> 00:14:19.095
Cool.
00:14:19.840 --> 00:14:22.389
are gonna be very happy when you keep watching.
00:14:23.355 --> 00:14:24.164
That makes me very happy.
00:14:24.164 --> 00:14:24.794
'cause that's my.
00:14:25.544 --> 00:14:28.634
Biggest ne by far, biggest negative of the show.
00:14:29.080 --> 00:14:29.440
Yeah.
00:14:30.075 --> 00:14:31.335
I don't care how you develop.
00:14:31.365 --> 00:14:33.914
Oh, you got a little bit more powerful, cool, whatever.
00:14:34.335 --> 00:14:37.575
And I love, I love the progression fantasy.
00:14:37.575 --> 00:14:43.154
It is, I probably like it too much'cause it's often the exact same thing.
00:14:43.904 --> 00:14:48.554
But I, I just love that and I'm not getting, getting that aspect quite as much.
00:14:48.764 --> 00:14:50.894
Even with, um, what, what's the fire and ice guy's name?
00:14:51.700 --> 00:14:52.240
Oh, uh.
00:14:53.205 --> 00:14:56.115
Showed up really cool power set, like, I really like it.
00:14:56.115 --> 00:14:57.794
It's cool how it affects his body.
00:14:57.794 --> 00:14:59.534
I was like, that is awesome.
00:15:00.284 --> 00:15:05.235
the same time, it's like, oh, he just puts more ice and more fire out.
00:15:06.465 --> 00:15:06.585
Okay,
00:15:07.495 --> 00:15:11.995
I love how the fandom has, just call him Icy Hot.
00:15:12.794 --> 00:15:13.485
really?
00:15:13.820 --> 00:15:14.110
Yeah,
00:15:14.144 --> 00:15:14.565
they do.
00:15:14.745 --> 00:15:15.735
Of course they do.
00:15:15.894 --> 00:15:17.365
because that's what Baca go calls him.
00:15:19.215 --> 00:15:19.875
That's awesome.
00:15:20.274 --> 00:15:33.955
Oh, there's, um, so I, I can't remember if this is the point where they're like picking hero names and things, but there was like a big thing of like, Bako hadn't chosen his, uh, hero name yet.
00:15:33.955 --> 00:15:35.815
And it, he was like the last one or whatever.
00:15:36.054 --> 00:15:41.335
So like the fandom was going crazy about, they're like, what, what is he gonna name his hero and stuff?
00:15:41.335 --> 00:15:42.835
And I was like, it should be F-bomb.
00:15:44.850 --> 00:15:48.019
Zero name should be fbo like.
00:15:48.235 --> 00:15:50.304
People are like, no, I think it should be caught on.
00:15:50.304 --> 00:15:51.774
I was like, wait, no.
00:15:51.774 --> 00:15:53.664
I think we moved too fast from fbo,
00:15:54.889 --> 00:15:55.110
Fbo.
00:15:55.725 --> 00:15:56.054
Great.
00:15:58.524 --> 00:16:08.940
like a whole lineup of all of these different things and I was like, the author should look at my suggestions please, but.
00:16:09.044 --> 00:16:11.654
Um, anyway, this show's really, really good.
00:16:11.684 --> 00:16:15.134
I do, this is a side thing, but um.
00:16:15.735 --> 00:16:24.554
You've got how it should have ended, and they have the villain pub and every single time the villains are in the pub, in this anime, I just think to myself, someone had to have copied this.
00:16:24.674 --> 00:16:26.684
This has to have come from somewhere.
00:16:26.804 --> 00:16:27.615
'cause that is insane.
00:16:27.674 --> 00:16:29.294
It looks the exact same.
00:16:29.445 --> 00:16:35.115
It's like they copied the villain pub from, from the other, uh, YouTube show.
00:16:35.115 --> 00:16:36.495
If you guys haven't seen it, it's really good.
00:16:37.575 --> 00:16:38.440
uh, yeah, those are.
00:16:38.754 --> 00:16:42.294
Kind of my thoughts, but still highly enjoyable.
00:16:42.325 --> 00:16:45.384
Still really will continue watching it.
00:16:45.445 --> 00:16:47.875
I think for me it's like an eight.
00:16:48.205 --> 00:16:48.684
It's an eight.
00:16:48.894 --> 00:16:49.524
I'll give it an eight.
00:16:52.975 --> 00:16:53.274
Yeah.
00:16:53.695 --> 00:16:56.154
With that, let's go to our next one.
00:16:56.184 --> 00:17:01.315
Um, I guess I'm kind of the only one in the world with a topic, the substance.
00:17:01.315 --> 00:17:02.215
Have you guys heard of this?
00:17:05.484 --> 00:17:05.875
Nope.
00:17:06.234 --> 00:17:06.684
No.
00:17:07.075 --> 00:17:08.214
This movie is brilliant.
00:17:08.759 --> 00:17:10.829
It's really, really freaking good.
00:17:11.519 --> 00:17:14.700
Um, Moore, do you guys know who Demi Moore is?
00:17:16.259 --> 00:17:16.500
Okay.
00:17:16.500 --> 00:17:17.910
She is a aging actress.
00:17:17.910 --> 00:17:21.240
Like she basically plays herself in her, her life.
00:17:21.599 --> 00:17:25.980
Um, she is getting older, so.
00:17:26.369 --> 00:17:36.509
The executives at the place that she works, the studio that she works, just kinda wanna kick her out and replace her with somebody younger and talented and they bring up an advertisement.
00:17:36.509 --> 00:17:43.140
It's like we want the young Demi Moore and someone lets her know about this thing that's called the substance.
00:17:43.920 --> 00:17:44.880
the substance.
00:17:45.150 --> 00:17:55.079
You can shoot yourself up and out of your back, splits a younger version of you, but you can only stay that younger version for a week, and then you have to go back to the older version.
00:17:56.039 --> 00:17:56.880
And it's working for'em.
00:17:56.880 --> 00:18:03.960
They're going back and forth and back and forth, and it says a lot about like we view aging women in our society.
00:18:03.960 --> 00:18:05.309
That was really interesting.
00:18:06.299 --> 00:18:21.210
says a lot about how we view beauty standards, like the waste of youth, all of these different topics that are largely talked about but explored very well very often, and they did a good job with it.
00:18:21.210 --> 00:18:24.839
In this story, the.
00:18:25.859 --> 00:18:29.430
and the younger version kind of starts splitting off more and more and more.
00:18:29.460 --> 00:18:35.369
They get more and more of a different personality, a different way of living.
00:18:36.029 --> 00:18:42.329
And the younger version resents the older version basically for being old, not being able to do all these fun things.
00:18:42.599 --> 00:18:50.130
And the older version resents the younger version for being so like flamboyant and flippant and.
00:18:50.789 --> 00:18:52.859
Not learning from the lessons that she learned.
00:18:52.859 --> 00:18:54.869
They both originally shared memories.
00:18:54.869 --> 00:18:58.140
They should grow, they should become something more.
00:18:58.440 --> 00:19:03.329
And it's, it says a lot about do you act the way that you act?
00:19:03.779 --> 00:19:08.339
Do you act more mature because you are more mature or because you've just aged?
00:19:08.579 --> 00:19:10.079
There's a lot of good questions there.
00:19:10.920 --> 00:19:14.339
So you have this horror movie that has so many different layers to it.
00:19:15.795 --> 00:19:21.134
As the movie goes along, the younger version doesn't want to go back to the older person's body.
00:19:21.134 --> 00:19:23.984
They don't want to have to switch back and forth.
00:19:23.984 --> 00:19:25.244
They just don't want to do it.
00:19:25.545 --> 00:19:36.525
So they start stealing from the older Demi Moore and when they go a week in one day, the older Demi Moore's leg starts to run a little bit.
00:19:37.424 --> 00:19:45.224
And she might start getting like weird humps places, eventually if they don't switch back and forth, the younger version will die.
00:19:46.095 --> 00:19:47.325
has to switch.
00:19:47.984 --> 00:19:59.025
So she has to switch, the older version is now getting more and more deformed and mutated, and she can't go out in public anymore, and she's literally losing her life.
00:19:59.894 --> 00:20:06.105
And because she's losing her life, she's losing her beauty, she's losing all of these different aspects that.
00:20:06.450 --> 00:20:08.039
Have given her so much value.
00:20:10.319 --> 00:20:17.285
feels like she can't go outside anymore and she misses when she's her younger self being.
00:20:18.224 --> 00:20:20.625
some guy look at her and be like, wow, look at that girl.
00:20:21.015 --> 00:20:22.214
And she doesn't get that anymore.
00:20:22.244 --> 00:20:23.505
So she doesn't wanna go outside.
00:20:24.255 --> 00:20:31.154
eventually the depression just pushes her and pushes her and pushes her until she decides, okay, I'm gonna be my younger self again.
00:20:31.575 --> 00:20:38.865
And then the younger self steals from the older self again and again and again, and it becomes this perpetual loop is extremely sad.
00:20:39.525 --> 00:20:41.174
acting is phenomenal.
00:20:42.345 --> 00:20:46.605
it's a, it's a slow burn movie, but the entire time I was just like glued to the screen.
00:20:47.694 --> 00:20:51.539
I, I've never seen anything like this movie, ever.
00:20:51.900 --> 00:20:52.890
I've never seen anything like it.
00:20:53.369 --> 00:20:57.930
It's, uh, it was kind of haunting to me.
00:20:58.170 --> 00:20:59.670
And the ending is, is gruesome.
00:20:59.670 --> 00:21:02.640
Like the ideas are so interesting.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:05.400
I wanna recommend it to you, but the ending is gruesome.
00:21:05.460 --> 00:21:12.029
Like it is, it's like it's some body horror, some very intense body horror, but.
00:21:12.809 --> 00:21:26.009
Part of the body horror makes the point that the movie is trying to make, everything is moving towards these ideas and these points that are, are, are larger than a typical horror movie would be.
00:21:26.009 --> 00:21:31.470
These are the kind of things that I like in horrors, like it's exploring the darker parts of ourselves.
00:21:32.039 --> 00:21:33.450
These are these darker ideals.
00:21:34.380 --> 00:21:40.619
I think this movie is absolutely brilliant and I would, I would genuinely give it a 9.5, like I think it's that good.
00:21:43.119 --> 00:21:43.990
So close to a.
00:21:44.910 --> 00:21:46.049
So close to a 10.
00:21:46.950 --> 00:21:47.759
So close.
00:21:48.630 --> 00:21:51.269
uh, I haven't watched it a second time.
00:21:51.539 --> 00:21:53.730
I'm wondering if it holds up as well.
00:21:53.849 --> 00:21:56.160
'cause I was so glued to like, what happens next?
00:21:56.160 --> 00:22:00.990
What happens next where would I be That invested a second time?
00:22:01.259 --> 00:22:02.009
I don't know.
00:22:02.279 --> 00:22:06.450
I think so, but it, it's just, just so good.
00:22:06.450 --> 00:22:06.990
It's so good.
00:22:07.170 --> 00:22:07.799
Such a good movie.
00:22:10.470 --> 00:22:17.730
Um, Josh, I'd be interested in what you think about this one if you ever watch it, but it is, uh, there is, there's quite a bit of nudity unfortunately.
00:22:18.210 --> 00:22:24.059
Um, but the ideas are just super interesting when they switch places.
00:22:24.059 --> 00:22:32.369
Both the older and younger version are, are naked and they used the older body versus the younger body to also make this point.
00:22:33.000 --> 00:22:34.140
But none of it felt like.
00:22:36.359 --> 00:22:44.849
Uh, all of it felt like you were watching somebody create art who wanted to convey an idea versus shoving a message, if that makes sense.
00:22:46.230 --> 00:22:53.309
Anyway, with that, we'll go on to our other shared topic, practical magic.
00:22:54.295 --> 00:23:01.109
And Lauren, you are the one who originally brought this up, so tell us what you think about this movie.
00:23:02.634 --> 00:23:09.714
Okay, so Practical Magic follows, um, oh, why can't I think of her name?
00:23:09.744 --> 00:23:10.974
Miss Congeniality,
00:23:12.269 --> 00:23:13.079
Sandra book
00:23:13.434 --> 00:23:14.035
Sandra Bullock.
00:23:14.035 --> 00:23:14.545
Thank you.
00:23:15.329 --> 00:23:17.845
and the really, really, really attractive redhead, what's her name?
00:23:19.464 --> 00:23:20.454
oh, I have no idea.
00:23:20.724 --> 00:23:21.295
Um.
00:23:21.345 --> 00:23:22.144
also super famous.
00:23:23.244 --> 00:23:23.815
Yeah.
00:23:24.265 --> 00:23:28.105
Uh, so it's following, uh, Sandra Bullock's character.
00:23:28.164 --> 00:23:38.875
Um, when they're little, uh, there's like this curse that if their family here is like this Beatle, then like their husband's gonna die or going to happen.
00:23:40.015 --> 00:23:45.924
so the younger girl's like, oh, well then I'm gonna cast a spell.
00:23:46.134 --> 00:23:47.694
So that, um.
00:23:48.640 --> 00:23:55.359
My husband's gonna be somebody who doesn't exist because I'm gonna come up with all these wild ideas so that that never happens to me.
00:23:55.779 --> 00:23:59.049
Um, so it's like he has two different colored eyes.
00:23:59.049 --> 00:24:03.339
His favorite, uh, his favorite shapes a star.
00:24:03.700 --> 00:24:10.599
Uh, all these like things that she can think of, um, and family are witches.
00:24:11.349 --> 00:24:14.470
It's like this family of witches in, uh, modern days.
00:24:14.950 --> 00:24:15.849
And so.
00:24:16.779 --> 00:24:23.230
grows up, she ends up marrying somebody, but then tragedy befalls him and she's like, I'm done with everything.
00:24:23.230 --> 00:24:24.099
I'm done with magic.
00:24:24.099 --> 00:24:24.519
I'm done.
00:24:24.519 --> 00:24:26.890
Like, guys couldn't bring him back.
00:24:26.890 --> 00:24:36.130
Like, um, so she was like, she was really angry at her aunts for like not bringing him back, uh, for a while.
00:24:36.130 --> 00:24:44.049
And um, so it's very interesting, um,'cause.
00:24:45.295 --> 00:25:01.134
I think Sandra Bullock has a very niche set of movies that these circumstances all happen in where she's trying to save somebody from dying and like knows the future and like the, like it would be weird if it happened twice.
00:25:01.164 --> 00:25:01.734
It's really weird.
00:25:01.734 --> 00:25:02.424
It happened three times.
00:25:04.644 --> 00:25:12.625
Um, but anyways, so, uh, her sister is kind of more of like a wild child and, um.
00:25:13.404 --> 00:25:21.295
goes off with this abusive guy and ends up killing him, uh, on accident in self-defense.
00:25:23.125 --> 00:25:23.454
Yeah.
00:25:23.694 --> 00:25:27.115
So she brings back the body and she's like, what do I do with this?
00:25:27.505 --> 00:25:41.065
Um, and so the, they end up burying him and, and then the, uh, the sheriff that's like looking for this guy ends up coming into town and is exactly what she had.
00:25:41.065 --> 00:25:41.125
Um.
00:25:42.805 --> 00:25:48.325
Said who she would fall in love with and like, be her husband when she was a kid.
00:25:48.355 --> 00:25:51.144
His favorite color, his favorite thing's a star.
00:25:51.174 --> 00:25:52.855
'cause he's a, he's a sheriff.
00:25:53.305 --> 00:25:54.265
Different colored eyes.
00:25:54.625 --> 00:26:02.184
Um, anyway, so you have like this whole thing of where Vanderbilt is trying to like, cover up for her sister.
00:26:02.515 --> 00:26:09.505
Um, and like all this intense shenanigans and there's like little bits of, uh, magic in.
00:26:09.894 --> 00:26:13.075
This movie that like, I find very charming.
00:26:14.694 --> 00:26:23.005
and then there's like the quote that I have in my kitchen that's like, plant lavender for luck or keep lavender by your garden gate.
00:26:23.244 --> 00:26:26.214
Uh, I can't remember the quote exactly.
00:26:26.214 --> 00:26:27.595
And fall in love whenever you can.
00:26:28.224 --> 00:26:32.815
Um, I mean this is, I know this has like a cult following.
00:26:33.144 --> 00:26:34.585
I, I'm like a.
00:26:35.275 --> 00:26:39.325
casual watcher of this when it's, sometimes I'll watch it.
00:26:39.325 --> 00:26:41.904
It's not quite my yearly watch.
00:26:43.644 --> 00:26:47.365
it's like every other year I'll watch this in the fall.
00:26:48.474 --> 00:26:55.009
Um, but yeah, uh, I, I would probably give it like.
00:26:56.634 --> 00:26:57.684
7.5.
00:26:58.164 --> 00:26:59.934
Um, I enjoy it.
00:27:00.325 --> 00:27:01.644
Uh, I like Sandra Bullock.
00:27:01.644 --> 00:27:04.345
I like the, one of the aunts.
00:27:04.345 --> 00:27:05.275
I love her.
00:27:05.335 --> 00:27:10.255
I can't think of, um, she said so many things, but I like her as well.
00:27:10.644 --> 00:27:12.535
Um, yeah.
00:27:12.805 --> 00:27:16.224
Um, yeah, 7.5.
00:27:17.184 --> 00:27:17.394
it.
00:27:18.609 --> 00:27:18.900
cool.
00:27:19.005 --> 00:27:19.244
Cool.
00:27:20.190 --> 00:27:24.359
All right, Josh, I'm curious, what do you think I'm gonna rate this movie.
00:27:26.163 --> 00:27:27.483
Uh, 7.5.
00:27:28.589 --> 00:27:29.039
Okay.
00:27:31.349 --> 00:27:33.660
I do not like this movie.
00:27:35.910 --> 00:27:37.920
I don't, and I wish I did.
00:27:38.250 --> 00:27:39.750
The things that I like about this movie.
00:27:39.930 --> 00:27:42.480
One, I think the Sheriff Star thing is actually really cool.
00:27:42.630 --> 00:27:45.630
I legitimately was like, I like that idea.
00:27:45.839 --> 00:27:48.089
The idea of the different talismans can mean different things.
00:27:48.134 --> 00:27:49.785
I thought that was a cool idea.
00:27:50.535 --> 00:27:58.035
Um, two, this is the most attractive Sandra Bullock has ever been in any movie, ever.
00:27:59.234 --> 00:28:03.494
very, very good looking in this movie to the point where I was like, wow.
00:28:04.845 --> 00:28:06.224
Uh, the ants are funny.
00:28:06.704 --> 00:28:07.815
I did enjoy the ants.
00:28:08.535 --> 00:28:17.595
The thing that I don't like about this movie at all is you have the, father character who dies to this old curse, right?
00:28:18.555 --> 00:28:21.494
And he dies.
00:28:21.494 --> 00:28:24.015
And then all of a sudden these sheriff's here and they're like in love.
00:28:24.015 --> 00:28:26.744
And I wasn't this love at all.
00:28:26.744 --> 00:28:28.244
I was not going for this love at all.
00:28:28.365 --> 00:28:29.384
I don't think it's cute.
00:28:29.835 --> 00:28:36.855
The fact that it feels all magically for, uh, forced, like it feels magically forced is icky to me.
00:28:36.914 --> 00:28:38.295
I don't enjoy it at all.
00:28:40.019 --> 00:28:41.940
And you could say it's like fate or whatever.
00:28:41.940 --> 00:28:43.529
I did not think it was like fate or whatever.
00:28:43.529 --> 00:28:46.799
It feels like magical, like rape in my mind.
00:28:47.039 --> 00:28:48.000
I don't like it at all.
00:28:48.359 --> 00:28:58.559
Uh, I found the thing to be, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
00:28:58.589 --> 00:29:00.750
Like sisterhood of traveling pants does not work.
00:29:00.900 --> 00:29:01.740
This felt like that.
00:29:02.190 --> 00:29:02.880
Didn't really like it.
00:29:02.880 --> 00:29:04.019
They're both great actresses.
00:29:04.200 --> 00:29:09.000
I really buy the whole sister bonding thing, which is really important to buy into this movie.
00:29:09.990 --> 00:29:14.519
whole idea of them having to murder this guy, they've done magic their entire life.
00:29:14.519 --> 00:29:20.009
You don't know how much magic to put in to be able to like, put the guy asleep or get, uh, get him to go somewhere else.
00:29:20.009 --> 00:29:21.720
Like you can't do anything.
00:29:22.109 --> 00:29:22.769
Really.
00:29:23.670 --> 00:29:24.180
Why?
00:29:24.869 --> 00:29:25.589
don't get it.
00:29:26.069 --> 00:29:31.769
Um, I really like Sandra Bullock like a lot.
00:29:32.654 --> 00:29:33.855
I think she's a great actress.
00:29:34.305 --> 00:29:35.505
I was excited for this movie.
00:29:36.494 --> 00:29:39.494
I do not like this movie.
00:29:39.944 --> 00:29:52.424
Um, the, the guy comes back as a haunted spirit or whatever, and then enters, uh, de colt, kidman's body, and it's like, again, just unappealing.
00:29:53.025 --> 00:29:54.644
And it wasn't like horrifying.
00:29:54.644 --> 00:29:55.875
It was just unappealing.
00:29:56.954 --> 00:30:00.779
It's just got a lot of stuff in it that I was like, I don't like that.
00:30:01.650 --> 00:30:02.339
don't like that.
00:30:02.609 --> 00:30:12.299
I don't like that there's good in it, but there's a lot I do not like, and I would give it a three, maybe a four.
00:30:12.420 --> 00:30:19.619
I might be convinced for a four, but I'm not a fan of this movie, Josh, what do you think?
00:30:21.334 --> 00:30:29.644
Uh, I hate to be this guy, but I kind of gotta agree with Conlan.
00:30:29.973 --> 00:30:30.423
Um.
00:30:31.624 --> 00:30:33.394
I also hate this movie.
00:30:34.233 --> 00:30:38.193
Um, I think the acting is bad.
00:30:38.253 --> 00:30:39.784
There's no world building.
00:30:39.784 --> 00:30:42.153
There are no rules to this magic.
00:30:42.574 --> 00:30:48.723
Um, I wasn't mad that she didn't know how much to give him because like, it was a panic situation.
00:30:48.723 --> 00:30:52.263
She was driving and she was just freaking out'cause her sister was being attacked.
00:30:52.983 --> 00:30:54.663
Like it felt, not like,
00:30:54.775 --> 00:30:55.285
there's the
00:30:55.294 --> 00:30:56.973
I don't know how much to give her.
00:30:57.295 --> 00:30:57.535
and
00:30:57.589 --> 00:30:57.880
Okay.
00:30:58.134 --> 00:30:59.305
could have driven away.
00:30:59.484 --> 00:31:01.194
They could have driven away
00:31:01.564 --> 00:31:04.354
I agree with you there, but with the poisoning, right?
00:31:04.354 --> 00:31:05.884
Like she's just freaking out.
00:31:05.884 --> 00:31:07.144
She's just doing whatever.
00:31:07.683 --> 00:31:24.993
Um, the reason I personally hate this movie so much is I feel like the message is, no matter how unrealistic your list is, ladies, you'll find everything you're looking for.
00:31:25.140 --> 00:31:26.339
also agree with that
00:31:26.733 --> 00:31:32.493
And also men don't matter at all, uh, because the dad dies.
00:31:32.493 --> 00:31:41.703
And the only reason the dad ever matters is when Sandra Bullock and her sister are laying in the bed and they say, did you ever forgive mom?
00:31:41.703 --> 00:31:42.634
And she says, sometimes.
00:31:42.963 --> 00:31:44.134
And that is it.
00:31:44.403 --> 00:31:49.564
And then the new little girls die, dad dies.
00:31:49.653 --> 00:31:51.723
And they're like, oh man, that's a bummer.
00:31:52.054 --> 00:31:53.763
Anyway, and.
00:31:54.169 --> 00:31:58.759
Then the end of this movie happens and they're like, and Sandra Bullock falls in love again.
00:31:59.598 --> 00:32:01.638
And I'm like, okay, so that guy's a goner.
00:32:01.638 --> 00:32:02.808
He is gonna die too.
00:32:03.199 --> 00:32:05.689
They didn't do anything to solve this curse.
00:32:05.808 --> 00:32:08.209
They didn't, there's no rules to this magic.
00:32:08.209 --> 00:32:09.858
I don't get what's going on.
00:32:10.219 --> 00:32:12.108
Um, it felt very.
00:32:13.189 --> 00:32:14.179
Back and forth.
00:32:14.179 --> 00:32:16.578
Like they didn't know what movie they were making.
00:32:16.969 --> 00:32:19.578
'cause it was originally like, it's a movie about sisterhood.
00:32:19.578 --> 00:32:20.898
No, it's a movie about love.
00:32:20.898 --> 00:32:22.189
No, it's a movie about abuse.
00:32:22.189 --> 00:32:23.898
No, it's a movie about sisterhood again.
00:32:24.348 --> 00:32:27.558
And it, there was no flow to this movie.
00:32:28.038 --> 00:32:30.348
Uh, there was no plot to this movie.
00:32:30.739 --> 00:32:36.048
It literally was like, Hey, let's make a Halloween hate man movie.
00:32:36.874 --> 00:32:41.374
And we're gonna make men be either abusive or just not matter the end.
00:32:41.703 --> 00:32:42.663
Yay us.
00:32:42.663 --> 00:32:46.923
That's literally what it felt like to be, uh, total, total crap.
00:32:46.923 --> 00:32:47.433
I'm sorry.
00:32:48.095 --> 00:32:51.785
Even the children don't care that their dad just died.
00:32:51.994 --> 00:32:54.305
Like I don't even remember a part where they were sad.
00:32:55.023 --> 00:32:55.864
There wasn't a part.
00:32:55.864 --> 00:32:57.699
It immediately cuts to Sandra Bullock.
00:32:57.795 --> 00:32:59.055
he's a sheriff.
00:32:59.509 --> 00:32:59.730
Yay.
00:33:01.179 --> 00:33:01.709
Well, no.
00:33:01.773 --> 00:33:04.308
'cause they do show up the one time before that.
00:33:05.959 --> 00:33:11.868
Cassandra Bullock is sad not getting out of bed, and she, the daughter shows up and says, stop being sad, mom.
00:33:11.868 --> 00:33:12.469
Get up
00:33:15.404 --> 00:33:16.424
Oh man.
00:33:16.755 --> 00:33:18.795
I, I did not enjoy this movie.
00:33:20.234 --> 00:33:20.595
Oh.
00:33:22.125 --> 00:33:23.265
What is your rating, Josh?
00:33:24.288 --> 00:33:25.578
negative six.
00:33:26.069 --> 00:33:26.789
Okay.
00:33:27.809 --> 00:33:28.710
Uh, there were a few.
00:33:29.369 --> 00:33:31.859
I don't, I, I want to be generous and give a three.
00:33:31.950 --> 00:33:40.230
I wanna be generous and give a three'cause there are a few things, a few things that I liked a few, but I did not like this movie.
00:33:40.289 --> 00:33:41.039
I'm sorry, Lauren.
00:33:42.289 --> 00:33:43.250
Uh, I feel bad.
00:33:43.250 --> 00:33:48.740
I've been, uh, recommending all the crap stuff this past couple of days.
00:33:49.308 --> 00:33:53.808
Genuinely, like am so sorry that I hate this movie so much.
00:33:53.838 --> 00:33:56.269
'cause I really love Sandra Bullock.
00:33:56.509 --> 00:33:58.909
Uh, like, I love Miss Congeniality.
00:33:59.479 --> 00:34:01.969
I love the proposals.
00:34:01.969 --> 00:34:04.128
One of my favorite rom-coms,
00:34:04.454 --> 00:34:04.934
Ever.
00:34:05.239 --> 00:34:16.338
like, I would love to love this movie, but when I feel like it's just giving a bad message to women and hating men, I.
00:34:19.309 --> 00:34:21.619
I, I don't see redeeming qualities in it.
00:34:21.619 --> 00:34:23.599
I don't see anything good in this movie.
00:34:23.958 --> 00:34:26.329
Uh, there's no consistency in this movie.
00:34:26.599 --> 00:34:28.789
Are the townspeople afraid of the witches?
00:34:29.088 --> 00:34:30.199
I don't know.
00:34:30.378 --> 00:34:34.458
Because they treat'em like crap until they say, Hey, come do this, spell with me.
00:34:34.608 --> 00:34:36.378
Then they're all like, what?
00:34:36.409 --> 00:34:37.489
That's so cool.
00:34:37.518 --> 00:34:38.358
Let's go do that.
00:34:38.358 --> 00:34:41.778
And then this demon sister starts wigging out.
00:34:42.329 --> 00:34:44.849
and they're just like, whoa, that's so
00:34:44.974 --> 00:34:46.054
so cool.
00:34:46.534 --> 00:34:51.213
Yeah, it's, uh, I, I have no positive notes for this movie.
00:34:51.273 --> 00:34:53.463
It's, it's not good.
00:34:53.463 --> 00:34:54.063
I'm sorry.
00:34:55.184 --> 00:34:59.085
Yeah, I'm dropping my score'cause Josh is right.
00:34:59.085 --> 00:34:59.505
I tried it.
00:34:59.534 --> 00:35:00.554
I'm trying to be nice.
00:35:00.769 --> 00:35:02.625
I don't, I did not like this movie.
00:35:03.375 --> 00:35:04.275
I did not like this movie.
00:35:04.394 --> 00:35:07.724
This gets a two because Sandra Bullock is so attractive.
00:35:10.514 --> 00:35:14.565
I know, like be nice to this.
00:35:14.565 --> 00:35:15.675
I do not like this movie.
00:35:16.375 --> 00:35:17.695
You should just drop it to a one.
00:35:18.554 --> 00:35:19.635
I just dropped to a one.
00:35:19.695 --> 00:35:19.934
It's a
00:35:20.005 --> 00:35:20.215
Yeah.
00:35:20.835 --> 00:35:21.494
This is a one.
00:35:21.945 --> 00:35:22.784
I don't like this movie.
00:35:23.655 --> 00:35:29.000
And this is, unfortunately, this is my least favorite cinder blogs movie, I can't think of one I don't like.
00:35:29.159 --> 00:35:29.864
I like this.
00:35:31.855 --> 00:35:32.664
Bird box.
00:35:33.344 --> 00:35:35.250
like Bird Box more than I like this, and I don't think it's a very good movie.
00:35:36.153 --> 00:35:36.784
Gravity.
00:35:36.784 --> 00:35:38.818
I haven't seen it, but I've heard it's pretty bad.
00:35:39.255 --> 00:35:40.755
I actually think Gravity is a decent movie.
00:35:41.568 --> 00:35:41.858
Okay.
00:35:42.405 --> 00:35:43.065
It's a fun time.
00:35:43.695 --> 00:35:44.835
It's not great, but it's a fun time.
00:35:46.784 --> 00:35:49.965
Um, it's just, yeah, this is my least favorite one.
00:35:49.994 --> 00:35:53.835
Even mis Congeniality two is better than this movie that's not a good movie.
00:35:55.974 --> 00:35:56.545
Take that back.
00:35:58.335 --> 00:35:59.954
Do you like mis congeniality too?
00:36:00.775 --> 00:36:02.635
I mean, like I don't have any problems with it,
00:36:04.215 --> 00:36:04.485
Yeah.
00:36:04.489 --> 00:36:06.474
but I haven't seen it in years, so.
00:36:07.304 --> 00:36:07.574
either.
00:36:07.635 --> 00:36:09.255
Maybe that should be one of our topics.
00:36:09.614 --> 00:36:11.114
Anyway, guys, that's gonna be our episode.
00:36:11.114 --> 00:36:12.824
Sorry I ended on a bummer.
00:36:12.824 --> 00:36:19.485
No, if we're all completely wrong and you think practical magic is fantastic, you're wrong and that's okay.
00:36:19.724 --> 00:36:22.454
But you can tell us why we're wrong and that's also okay.
00:36:22.905 --> 00:36:26.175
I hope that you guys have a better tomorrow than today and just keep going forward.
