ABOUT THIS EPISODE
On this episode, we went live following Saturday’s game four of the first-round series between the Arizona Coyotes and the Colorado Avalanche. We get into our immediate reactions to the game right off the hop. Darcy Kuemper has been putting in an absolute goaltending clinic, and has a lot to do with the ‘Yotes win on Saturday. In fact, he’s had a hell of a lot to do with keeping his team in the series. We knew that he would be a huge factor.
On Friday’s game three, the Avs took a late lead in the third and held onto the victory. We go through our thoughts on both game three and four, and what this series has shown us, so far. Penalties have been an issue, but the penalty kill has been superb. The Coyotes haven’t been able to generate much with the man-advantage. The Avs powerplay has had some lackluster showings, but in game four, they looked very dangerous, and were creating energy. Special teams has been an important factor. Depth scoring has continued through the playoffs, and everyone has been stepping up at times. The fourth line for the Avs has also been fantastic in their role, with heavy fore-checking and a direct approach of getting pucks to the net. Veteran defensemen, Erik Johnson, has also caught our attention as playing a huge role as a steady presence, and hasn’t shied away from rushing opportunities.
The series continues on Monday. Let’s see if the Avs can bounce back, and finish off the Coyotes this week.
