Intrusive Thoughts, Coping with Anxiety and the Importance of Being Silly with Lauren Ruth Martin

Welcome back to Not Your Basic Influencers Podcast! Elyce and Leah here, two (kinda) basic women and licensed mental health professionals influencing you on the sh*t that really matters.
Today we chat with Lauren Ruth Martin, LPC-MHSP about anxiety and what it actually means to have intrusive thoughts. Lauren shares her own experiences with anxiety, perfectionism and learning how to manage her intrusive thoughts. We discuss navigating relationships when you struggle with anxiety and the importance of informing partners and loved ones of how they can best respond and support you when you are going through it. Lauren shares some of the techniques and tools that she uses personally and with her own clients to cope with their anxiety. She discuses the importance of being silly as an adult and how that helps us to re-wire both our brain and body to be more comfortable with triggers and threat.
