DeForest Buckner Is BACK! 49ers Fall to 6-1 | Niners Talk Episode 100

It's a milestone edition of Niners Talk, as John, Tim, and Brian break down the San Francisco 49ers' first loss of the season — a frustrating 29-20 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons that sends the Niners into their bye week at 6-1.

But just when Niners Nation needed some good news, John Lynch delivered.

The 49ers have traded a fourth-round pick to bring Buckner back to San Francisco, adding a massive piece to the defensive line. The guys discuss what Buckner's return means for Raheem Morris's defense, the possibilities of a front featuring Nick Bosa, Mykel Williams, Osa, Keon White, and Buckner, and whether the 49ers have another move coming before the trade deadline.

The Niners jumped out to a 14-3 lead behind Christian McCaffrey and rookie Kaelon Black's first NFL touchdown. Then everything fell apart.

Four turnovers. Costly penalties. Another missed extra point. No pass rush. And a Falcons offense that dominated time of possession while keeping Brock Purdy and the 49ers offense on the sidelines.

The guys break down the back-to-back fumbles that changed the game, Purdy's two interceptions, and the controversial overturned Jordan Watkins touchdown that left Niners fans furious.

Was it a catch? Should New York have overturned the ruling on the field? And why does NFL officiating seem more inconsistent than ever?

At 6-1, San Francisco enters the bye week as the NFC's No. 2 seed, with one of the league's highest-scoring offenses and a defense that has exceeded expectations despite significant injuries.

But the warning signs are growing.

Eight turnovers in three games. Twenty-six penalties. Special teams mistakes.
And a receiving corps desperately in need of reinforcements.

With Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and Nick Bosa potentially returning after the bye, can San Francisco get healthy and make another championship run?

And should John Lynch go all-in on another trade?

The guys debate Garrett Wilson, Calvin Ridley, DeVonta Smith, and the possibility of adding another pass rusher like Khalil Mack.
