Speaker 1: Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. Good Morning Football. Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper Beef Turkey. We're live in New York City. It's Friday, December twenty third. I'm Jamie Yurdall. It's Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager and the Grin. Yes, I'm here, Eyhood the whole nine. I shall have the Grinch as well. I can't prepare today. Christmas is around the corner. Yeah. Is this how you feel when you return from MetLife Stadium to see a Jets game? As you feel like that? This is how every Jets fan stadium last night. But we're going crazy for Chris Travelers. Yeah yeah, I mean one, mister Wilson's let's go out with the lead block, how shall we and the chock of the program. Let's go to beautiful Northern New Jersey. No offense for the Jets, nothing now. Yeah, so Jason, we get in. Definitely buy those booze. You were there on the radio call. Even Edd's not happy. A few people that were there in the stands were extremely loud to get those boozer. Called you. People that were there So guys, that's Robert Slick action. Jack Wilson, hold, Hey, but you know what, Chap, David Lawrence. Baby, the Jacks can't lose. Break up the Jaguars. They go to New Jersey and they win. The Jacks are seven and eight. They're on fuego nineteen to three. Oh my god, the Jets just zilch on offense. Let's hear from the top two picks in the twenty twenty one NFL Draft. Starting with the winning quarterback was very festive and then get to the other guy. Just a big win and just shows that this team is growing and you know, we can win however it takes. You know, we don't have to put up forty points to win. We don't have to have all these yards and throw the ball every you know what I mean. It's just whatever it as to win. You know, we're able to do and to be able to adjust like this was really good for us. You know. Right now, the feeling is I just gotta put my head down and just try and get better, you know, for these guys. And you know that's kind of my message to them out there, is, you know, I'm trying to give them everything I got I'm trying to lay it out there for you guys, and it's not good enough. And I gotta put them in a better position. He's got to keep working. We haven't seen the last of them, but right now we just he just got to focus on finding ways to get better. We gotta find ways to help them. Okay, this is really getting interesting now. With the win, the Jags move up one spot in that ever present lurking column to the nine seat, now ahead of the Jets. The Jags just need to win their last two games against the Texans and the Titans to win their division and boost themselves into the playoffs. The Bengals got what they needed last night without even playing with the Jets lost. Incinnati has now clinched a playoff berth So in Jason mccordy's honor to quote the Grinch, maybe Christmas, you thought, doesn't even come from a store. Maybe it comes with a win at MetLife Stadium. What do you think about that? For the one Jacksonville Jet last I know they're fired up, but Trevor Lawrence was kind of playing the Grinch last night. Comes into New Jersey and he just snatches some of the Jets playoff hopes, and he also reminds Jets fans, hey, I was the first overall. They not this guy that you drafted. And he went out there and it wasn't about the three hundred yards passing and three or four touchdowns. It was about doing what the team needed to get it win. A gritty performance from Trevor Lawrence and it didn't start great. First third down of the game, they're going for Quinnin Williams comes in with the sag, knocks the ball loose and gives the Jets the ball right there with an opportunity to put points on the board. But he rebounded. And the way they went about it last night, rain and win in those conditions, a lot of quick passes. We saw Evan Ingram show up back in MetLife Stadium back in New Jersey. He had himself a game. But I was most impressed by Trevor's lawrence ability to tuck the ball and run with him. He's running, he's not going down, he's not sliding. A gritty performance and saying, hey, you know what, we have our playoff hopes. They're alive and well, revolling, and I'm gonna do whatever it takes to win the game. You heard him say that each game is different. And in those conditions last night, did Jacksonville Jaguars say, Hey, we know what we need to do and we know how to play playoff football. We're handing the ball off to Travis ATM and Trevor Lawrence. Hey, I get outside to pocket. I'm gonna use my athleticism and make the Jets Bay Jacks played great. Jacks played greats long drive, Doug Peterson gets to win. I wouldn't be myself if I wasn't gonna be the resident New Yorker pig style last night. This is the headline in the post Christmas Chris mess christ Chris Messers another one where they said, Felice Navidad all about Zach Wilson. You will over it. Cole By Wilson never make it. I have my friends in my texts and my buddy Matt, who's a you know, Jet season ticket holder. We've lost to the Lions and the Jaguars at home and back to back weeks in Detroit. This is so. Why is Zach Wilson still in the game. Great, Zach Wilson's out in the game. Oh, we have Streveler and this is terrible, unwatchable, good night now, I mean this is where it is. I like you clean those up with anybody responding in between. Yeah, Wilson was so terrible and the offense was so bad. And Tsalo's point, it's not just Wilson, They're all awful last night. The offensive line was was not stopping anything. The receivers were dropping past is Corey Davis dropped a very easy pass from Chris Streveler late in the game that could have advanced things. Wilson looks like a kid who's you know, completely lost his way and has no confidence. And yet they might have the offensive and rookie defensive rookie of the year. They've got Garrett Wilson and they've got Sauce Gardner. So it just shows me in this league, if you don't have a quarterback, you get that wrong, you're gonna be lurking in the playoff thing. You're gonna be in the hunt. You're gonna be call me maybe like in the playoff hunt. You're not going to be in the playoff. You need a quarterback in twenty twenty two, and for Salid to come out there and like he said, everything he could possibly say this season, there's only so many ways he can spend. Brought up the Hope Potato Bowl to try to hype this week. He also said, you know this is not instant coffee, Well it should be number here. If you're Robert Slid at this point, like, I don't know what you could possibly do other than try to just you know, face the music. And they tried. They put a four string quarterback in, they putting Chris Streveler, and they just had him running student body right and student body left, and the fans were finally excited. It's a shame because this Jets team was a really good story. They're a really good team, but I think the quarterback positions holding them back, and it's been the storyline all along, and it seems like it was never addressed and unfortunately they're gonna be on the outside looking in. How do you feel exasperated? That was a disgusting game. I mean, al Michaels is on the call and I want to go out there just give him a hug. At one point, Alan Herbie were saying, maybe if Zach Wills just just throws one long, just tries it, just throw it up. I mean, they were literally saying that maybe just chuck one up and maybe they make Yeah, and I hear you. We all were and the Jets fans were too. Something on Jacksonville. By the way, give me the playoff picture again. This is why, this is why it's exciting for the Jaguars, is that they're not only reeling off wins. Give me those playoffs scenarios. They're in the lurking category. They're by far playing the best of any of them. Pick any team you want, New England. Obviously the Jets, but I'll be one better. They're playing better than anybody in the wildcard column, anybody. Baltimore weird loss, Miami can't get a win. Chargers, Chargers like the Jaguars should be there based on how they're playing. There's not there because a math. This is not an optics thing. We're not giving letter grades. This is only math. If this was English, believe me, they're sliding over to the left. Colm Jacksonville, really great, whim New York Jets. You know what, all that bleeping draft is so hard. That NFL draft is so hard. It is so and that is why we talk about it for months, and that is why millions of people devote that not only their jobs, with their entire careers and lives to analyze in it. I was pulling up the quotes man Big Joe Douglass talked about after they took Zach Wilson, Why why why this kid, the dimple faced assassin from BYU. And it's just like, listen, he checks all the boxes we get in our meetings. We love them. Someone says, yeah, but you know, the competition wasn't that good. He literally says, that's not his fault, no more than it was Steve McNair's fault. At Alcorn State, we brought up McNair, the late McNair to yeah, to try like one of the toughest players of all time an MVP, and Salas said the same thing. He does everything, armstrang actors and makes plays. He's fearless in the pocket. He's a leader. And it's just that was like twenty minutes ago. That was that was less than two years ago, and it's like now we're benching him for us. The struggler dude, it's a tough, tough thing. It looks like they badly, badly historically whiffed, and it'd be one thing for that Jets, Jess who cares. The rest of the team is awesomely got lamemakers and they got people. But they're in a marriage. Was Zach Wilson. It's not they're not dating him. They got married to that sob. They did it and he's doing the best he can, but he can't make any plays, and it's just like, we can't wait any longer. It's terrible. I have nothing good to say for at least now he did the post is cooking with gas this morning, But I wish it was going the opposite way. You know, you're talking all about this the Jags thing with the playoff picture they did with the Titans. Yeah, that's it. They went into Vision and they have a whole playoff. Oh my gosh, that's pretty cool. Pretty cool, right, Yes, if it was like Zach Wilson tricked the Jets, like a couple of years ago, he was in those meetings, he showed well in the combine he played against non competition in college. Not his fault, I guess, but he tricked him. You know who didn't get tricked It was the Jacksonville Jaguars when they picked Trevor Lawrence. And this was a one verse two. This was supposed to be this battle of comparison. This was not even a comparison. This was not a battle. Trevor Lawrence looked like the better quarterback far and wide last night, time and time again. He gets hit early, He gets the ball taken away early by another top draft pick, doesn't even flinch, doesn't care. Rain's not bothering his hair, Rain's not bothering his play. He looked really good. I cannot stop talking about how Doug Peterson has transformed this team. But this quarterback another thing too. Young quarterbacks that get drafted to systems in teams, Guys, we've seen this story. A lot. Quarterbacks in particular can get ruined by coaches, and we see the story play on a lot. Oh, this guy would have been really good. He was really talented. But man, that coach fill in the blank, ruined him. Oh he could have been great, but he got ruined. He didn't let it. He did not let it happen to him. He did not let it happen to him. But that's how good he is, that's how much talent. Trevor Lawrence had. Eight and a half minute drive, ninety six yard drive doesn't Flinch just keeps marching down the field with his arm, with his legs, getting everybody involved. His team is really good. They're really fun to watch. Last year two and six, this year seven and eight. That's a really good team. That's a really good turnaround. It's huge. And I think for Lawrence to play like that in MetLife Stadium, Yeah, can you imagine a worst night at the ballpark for Jets fans than that? With the weather, the performs and everything. It's like and then Lawrence comes in, You're like, oh, that was the one. It's like all a kid wants for Christmas is he wants a red bicycle. It's all he wants. And in morning he opens up and he gets a sweater, and as he looks through the window into his neighbor's house, his little bratt neighbor has got the most beautiful red bicycle you've ever seen in your life. And it's got tassels on it, it's got a banana seat. And this is like, I got the sweater. That's where they are this morning. It's terrible. I feel free, all right, Ian Rapport, good morning, You've got the late from around the league. As our NFL Networking Cider is going to join us. Now, please enlighten us as thurs a night football dead and done. Now we're gonna move on to Saturday, Sunday full of football. Den and done is about right. Let's start with the quarterback position for the Tennessee Titans. Ryan Tannehill injuries to both ankles this season. It has been it has been quite a season for Tannehill, as tough as they come, but does not look like he is going to make it on Saturday. He has already been declared out with that ankle injury. We'll see what the future holds him. If if this is in fact situation where he has made his last start for the season, not sure yet. They have not said it, but we shall see perhaps later today. Meanwhile, Malik Willis ends up starting for the Tennessee Titans and really what has become a huge, huge stretch for them. For the Baltimore ravens Lamar Jackson is also out, missing his third straight game. He's got a PCL spring that is supposed to be a one to three week injury. He is there. It is three weeks. He is not going to play. So Snoop Punley, the backup, was played the last two weeks. He is expected to be out there. Meanwhile, for the Philadelphia Eagles, Gardner minshow gets his first start of the season. Believed to be one of the better backups in the NFL. The Eagles famously traded from haven't got to play him much, are going to play him against the Dallas Cowboys as Jalen Hurts, the potential MVP candidate is dealing with a right shoulder spring. If the Philadelphia Eagles win, they get the number one seat and a bias. Obviously a lot riding on it there in that game. Micah parsons they do everything linebacker listed is questionable because he's in dealing with it. Has been out of the building for two days this week, did return yesterday, was a limited participant, at least trending in the right direction. Guys, that's a lot of names. That's a lot of news for a lot of teams that have an important stretch of football coming down the pipe and rapport. Thank you very much. We'll talk to you in a little bit on Good Morning Football. A lot to come on the show. It's gonna be We just heard it from rap sheet Minshew Mania and Dallas. Did you see those quick NFL cookies. Do I feel like a plate of those? Please? Yeah? Saturday night, Minshewana, will the Cowboys hand the Eagles their second lot to the season or will the mustache prevail? You? Guys, we do Mad Minute on Fridays. Well, let's cover all the games. But guess what, jingle bells Gridge over here very minute, in the spirit of giving, we are going to add Oh did you guys know this an extra thirty seconds to the clock to talk about these games. So get your takes ready on these Kyle, is we take away thirty seconds? Wait? This wasn't brought up in the production meeting or at all? Is not gather right? I know, but Kyle, you know everything. It's fine. Starry Dallas, the Cowboys playing host to Gardner Mintshew and the Eagles. Peter, We'll start with you with that electric sweatshirt you have on we talked about yet today. What are you most excited for in this oh, this whole thing? Yeah, sometimes I just like to blend in and be a wallflower. The Minshew thing is fascinating here because you go to Gardner Minshew and it's this like Christmas Eve game with all the country watching and I think Minshew's gonna deliver. Like this isn't this giant step back where you're gonna put in some guy and it says where'd he come from? Story? Mitche has already had the where'd he come from story when he went in for Jacksonville and then he went in for the Eagles last year and played really well at MetLife, lightening up the Jets in a game. Minshe's gonna be fine. And here's the other part with the Minshew He's going to be a free agent at the end of this season, Like this is his audition. Da Mitchell could make five million dollars this this same day, you know, like we Mint, you could come out there, throw them all over the yard, and a team's like, we should have Minshew as our quarterback this year or Mint she should be our backs. Who's gonna say, do we want Baker and do we want Minshew? Yeah? Minshew. It's a wild week obviously, you know he spoke at Mike Leach's memorial service earlier this week. He's now playing on Christmas Eve. I can't wait for the Minshew experience. I think he's gonna show up. Okay, for anyone who's concerned about the ninety seconds. Remember you're playing the game with Peter. Yeah, you're gonna have he carries for you today, I have you carrious. I don't think we're gonna like y versus game. Yeah. I'm looking at Dak Prescott. He has seven interceptions in the last four games. And you're watching sports media and you're watching TV, and you hear former players calling them now, calling them names within it. Dak Prescott is a good quarterback. It may not be of the elites, but he is a good quarterback on a franchise that is popular and well known. Dak Prescott has to go out there and have a game. You're just talking about Gardner Minshew. He can't let him on the other side, the backup quarterback where the Eagles come out there and outplay him. Kyle, do not go We are done. We are moving. Yeah, well you have to go first in the next round. Okay. I had thoughts about the NFL's collaboration with Fortnite, but they'll have to wait. They have for merry minute three point. The last time the Vikings were at home, it was a beautiful site. They pulled off the biggest comeback in NFL history. You don't have to be so frustrated with it. That game was against the Colts. Now the Giants are in town. Jason. It says, you're supposed to go first, but we're gonna make Kyle Ico. It literally says minute on the screen of the lower turn Mary ninety seconds, who got drunken then decided to change this into ninety seconds. Daniel Jones, this is the game for him. You know. We had Shan O'Hara here and he's like, Oh, I think he's coming back next year. They're gonna sign an extent. They are, that's just a done deal, and they're gonna take some sort of bargain or discount. Why would they. The only reason I bring Daniel Jones is if he turns it on over the next month and this is your life, this is your time as a New York Giant. I would say the same thing for number twenty six in the running back position. They might both be gone after this year. If if this season just completely fades away, you need to win. You need to win bad. I'm looking at the Minnesota Vikings. On the other side, we have our resident Minnesota Vikings fan and Jamie and she's still talking about the comeback. So for them, there's a ton of emotions that go into a game like that this past Saturday, where you're down thirty three points at half time, you storm all the way back. How do you get up for the next game with so many people ask you about that game the talk of the town. Now you have to turn the dial, turn the page and get ready for the New York Giants, who are coming off a big win or fighting for their playoff hosts. So for the Minnesota Vikings, which team are we going to see? The first half team that I played against the Indianapolis Colts or the second half team. That's what I'm looking forward. As you know, Vikings are in an interesting spot and we get these a lot in the last few weeks this season, like they're in the playoffs, they clinched division, they know they got a home game. But now you're talking about seatings and it's like where do we put this? And if we're at the two seats, are we better off than the three seats? Giants are playing for everything, Like the Giants to me are coming in and this is their playoff lives. If the Giants can just hold I think the New York Giants are gonna come in. I think they're gonna beat the Vikings. That's nothing against the Vikings. I did. I did a poll on Twitter the other day and I just said, the Vikings are going to the playoffs. Do you think they're gonna win zero playoff games? One or multiple? It had the fifteen thousand votes or something like sixty percent of people on zero playoff games. That's still zero, just one and done. That's what the people think. I'll voted. I'll voted zero. Did you vote zero? I saw that. I'm gonna need that. It's great Jamie's honor. Yeah, the Lions head to Carolina to take on the Panthers. Be a professional and move on, Jimmie. Can the Lions keep this playoff train rolling? Peter, We're gonna start with you. I'm just gonna keep changing up the order here. Lions Panthers, let's go. You know, I was truly all in on like the Panthers coming into last week, and then they gave up nine of twelve third down conversions to a Steelers team and Deante Johnson ran circles around that defense. The Lions are a house on fire and now are going down to Carolina. The weather is not going to be good. They're saying it's gonna be twenty degrees in Charlotte. It's gonna be windy, it's gonna be all the stuff. This is gonna be a tea game that's decided on the ground. And I think that Detroit's ground game is actually far superior than what people think. I think the Lions take care of business, and they went in a different style. Then the Ben Johnson draw up all these different kind of plays and let's have some aerial attack. I like the Lions on the road. They're hot. I'm gonna have the roll with them the season with Peter Steger Seeve Cornackiania talk playoffs, the Panthers have any pulse at all in that NFC sells. What's their deal right now? They're at four percent to make the playoffs, But if the Bucks lose and they win, it like jumps to like fifty percent. Deals like they have a real shot because they've won games within their division. I just I feel like us as a show, or maybe I'm on an island. I want to really throw in with someone the NFC South, and I've been going around the horn like I'm almost ready to go to the Andy Dalton Saints because at least they won a game last week, but no one else wants to The Panthers won this game, Jay, and it actually is still alive. And I think it says five and nine next to their logo. There five and nine. I'm gonna read it right here, says can clinch NFC South going host a playoff game what they win in each of the final three games. Okay, that's you can say that about the NFC salth each and everywhere. This is the only one that controls their destiny, so they only need help. If the Panthers went out they just went out there. How many weeks have we said that? And then they go out there and losing. Now we're talking, Oh, but the Buccaneers are still in control. Blah blah blah. Kind of tired of this division. Yeah, you know, Kyle Production has made a decision. We're gonna move on from every minute and next one it's just going to be grouchy two minutes and you have to do the entire two minutes. He see you later, guys, I know right, No, no, no, not at all. Tomorrow on Christmas Eve, it's a special edition of NFL Red Zone. Yes, Scott Hanson get every touchdowne from every game on a Saturday afternoon. Head the NFL dot com slash red Zone to get red Zone today. Has everybody seen them behind the scenes video that they did of Scott Hanson's work day. Go to social media, look it up. It is so awesome. Peter go ahead, just talk over the bumper coming up. Josh Allen Ahead, he's so serious, he's so lovable. At Hampton is talking about his breakfast routine and there's like dramatic NFL films music minding, and then he talks about not peeing for seven hours a lot yep. And his fantasy team is called the Iron Bladder. There is. It's time for us to say who will deliver? Brought to you by the United States Postal Service. There is one person who is sure to deliver in week sixteen. Spoiler alert, It's time for us here, Santa here to our viewers, Sailor Swift here. Okay, Kyle, take it away. What am I doing talk about talking about a football memory? Alright, so Santa didn't come. I don't know if that's a coincidence. Oh no, When I was in my adolescence. I don't know if I was obsessed with Dean Sanders. Obsessed is my favorite athlete by far. I had every jersey that he had, guys. I had the Falcons jersey's obviously. I had the Yankees jersey, the Braves jersey. I had a Cincinnati Reds Dion Sanders jersey. So in nineteen ninety five, after winning a Super Bowl being defensive player the year, he joins the Cowboys, and I'm like, I gotta get a cowboyschers, you gotta get a Cowboys jersey. This week my dad sent me a photograph from nineteen ninety five. It is me just short of turning sixteen years old. Broa, you were hot. They don't look at guy. I can get a hair. I was very pleased to get that jersey. That's what's important here, Peter, not my personal sat it's the football December of nineteen ninety five that pictures from, and it was my latest Dan Sanders jersey. I've since met Dion. I was very nervous. I misspoke. I loved you at Colorado, yes, and there was way before that. I met him, like the NFL talent summits, and he's come a long way. What do you guys, Jamie m eight years ago today, which was really fun. When we were asked this question. I got a phone call. I was working at CBS, already doing college football in college basketball, was doing a college basketball game in Vegas. Get a phone call, Hey, we need you to cover a week seventeen NFL game. My first ever NFL game. I was my life was changed, and it got to be a Ravens home game. So here is one little Jamie yar at all at my very first NFL game on the sideline talking to a Baltimore Ravens quarterback December twenty nine, twenty fourteen. But it was eight years ago today that I received said first assignment and put us on this path to me standing next to a grinch and talking football every morning with a man with a thirty two team sweatscher and Dion Sanders biggest fan. Incredible. I have no story. I didn't have the Chimney York Fires. Thank you Santa, and Jamie saying Joe, how's it gonna feel in eight years to still be the best quarterback on your team? Nice dry Christmas, everybody, next guys. This weekend, it'll be five months of us the other on this show, eight months together. How does that make you feel? Their thirty two team Sweatcher. I love it. I'm the happiest I've been with the show. We're doing a great job. And I gotta tell you something. All these teams are basically still live for playoffs going into week sixteen, so we're in a good place as an NFL hend. You have a Christmas cookie over your should, over my shoulder. I'll eat it later. Yes, I took beautiful five months, five months together this weekend, So a long committed relationship right there for months. The first day on the set, you guys, we shot a Jeopardy appearance. Yeah, appear on Jeopards and unbelievable. It's like a lifetime ago. Yeah. Now that the dust has settled, on Thursday night, we're gonna hang in the AFC. What interests us most about the AFC playoff picture with three weekends remaining, It doesn't have to be a team that's in. It doesn't have to be a team with the X or the wire or whatever. Aten Like, what are you watching there, Peter, I'm watching my New York Post this morning because I want to go through some of the headlines after this Jets loss. This was a Kuta graph from the post. You will never make it y u l e okay, sleigh ride s lay to their season? Okay, how about philis Navi dud? Is there all headlines in the post this morning? And then of course Chris mess Jeer, you know, hold that up. The fans has a signment. All I want for twenty twenty three is for Zach not to be r QB. That's rhy. This market was alive and like like a month ago, they've lost four straight games, and I'm looking at the Jets and how they salvage this season going into next season, but also potentially still make the playoffs. They weren't eliminated last night. Now do they have a rallying cry around them? Let's look at the jets remaining schedule. The New York Jets at Seahawks at Dolphins. Could beat the Seahawks. Who starts for it next week? Doesn't They could beat the Seahawks, it doesn't matter. Go in the Seattle and beat the Seahawks and then the Dolphins on the Dolphins. They might already have everything locked up, or it could be a winning in for both teams. Dolphins yet I don't know the truth the matter is this, This Jets season was supposed to go differently. That roster is absolutely loaded except for one position on the quarterback spot. And I look at Zach Wilson now because this could go down as one of the greatest draft misfires in the history of the sport. That sounds like I'm being hyperbole, and I've seen JaMarcus Russell, seen Riyanley, But to draft a quarterback to overall and build so well around him and then to not have the most important possession hit, it would be crushing. And I look at the Jets from a local perspective here in New York because if they don't make the playoffs, they might have to get rid of or replace a second overall pick before his rookie contract is even up. If they do make the playoffs and Zach does get back on the field, they can salvage this thing. I find it a fascinating scenario because I mentioned earlier Joe Douglas possibly could be the GM of the year. He's drafted Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, that could be the offensive and defensive rookie that he could be the GM of the year and also be the same guy who has this on his resume. This is so fast that it just shows me in the NFL on roster building, you need to get the quarterback right. It didn't draft Justin Fields, it in draft Mac Jones, adn't draft Trey Lance. They drafted Zach Wilson and they drafted him second overall. And I'm curious see how the final few weeks go because to me, it's a bigger picture than just getting in the playoffs getting out the playoffs. It's what do you make of this franchise and what do you make of that young man in their center? Because last night he just didn't have the goods. It sounds like you're asking for a Christmas miracle. Jets in a playoffs? Been in Seattle, Yeah, it's like, well, that team is awesome. Do you know what our American cousin is? That's the play that Lincoln was seen the Joco. Other than that, how was the play, missus Lincoln? Other than the quarterback? How's the team? Mister Douglas. It's it's all I don't you have a great cornerback. We need we need the kid to play. It's tough. I'm gonna go somewhere in the AFC that I feel like you could any month, any week of the year, you could see this. Does anybody want to play the Kinds City Chiefs right now right at home? I don't see it. I don't think so. I know the Bills own the head to head the tiebreaker, they're still the top spot in the AFC. But my goodness, what the Chiefs I've been doing the last couple of weeks. Patrick Mahomes talk about nailing the quarterback spot when we're in graft pick. Yeah, trading up to get him. He is unbelievable. He's continuing to be on Blue bull He's leaving the league in touchdown passes right now with thirty five Isaiah Pacheco how to ruck or something. Everyone at the table here loves the way he wrote. Obsessed with his high knees and he gets out, he avoids tackles. Travis Pelty is at the top of his game, potentially for his position in history. And then just casual Juju Smith, shoes, Schuster Smith and the wide receivers a plenty, and the defense is great. Chris Jones defense telling his team he made stay off Twitter or you know, people criticize no day of Twitter, So your head doesn't get too big. Because like Chiefs, people are loving them. They're playing so well, there's an argument that they're not being loved. A lot of people are saying the Chiefs are being taken for granted and mL health being for granted. So take it from that angle because I think it's interesting we don't want to see the Chiefs and yet every other show is doing a hype segment on the Bills, right and the Bengals. Do we take the Chiefs for granted? But why is Chris Jones saying that? As my point, why is he telling his teammates to stay off Twitter. I think the normal lesson is because like, oh, don't see the hate, don't see them whatever. I think if you're easily the Chiefs are one of the most rapid fan bases, Like you don't want to see I don't think you want to see the adoration that you're seeing because it could get to your head. Yeah, And I think for them, you said like they're kind of flying under the radar. If you feel like we're not doing the Chiefs thing this year, like we maybe should. It's eight oh nine and we're talking about how excited, how exciting is that for them, like they've been to talk and all of this. Now you kind of get to be the under doors. Let everybody talk about you're just winning seven straight division titles, right, if they win the AFC, none of us even blink, Right, there's zero surprise. Zero. I just think it's it's not that we don't talk about him, just like we just they're understood. There's not a fresh angle on the Chiefs. We already did they in this Tyreek. They're the Chiefs. There is space between taking them for granted and just assuming it's going to happen. I don't think taking them for I don't think we're there yet. But I hear you because all offseason, all we talked about the Raiders, the Broncos, the Charges, how these teams all kind of put a billion dollars into the division to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. And here we are two three more games remaining in the season, and the Kansas City Chiefs are still in control of their division. So it was just like, my goodness. But I will say, we've talked about Patrick Mahomes as the MVP. Later I couldn't we're talking about Jeol and Hurts for the last Yeah, we're talking, but everybody's talking about Jalen Hurts as the MVP because they're saying, I think Patrick Mahomes is gonna be the guy. Hey is Jalen Hurts? Is he assistant quarterback? Is it the team around him? No one says that about Mahomes because in doing he deserves it. Because Tyreek Hill leaves and it's just like, is this often still gonna be good? Yeah? Patrick Mahomes is still there and he's still getting it done, spreading the ball all around. Of course, I was going to talk about the tight ends and Texans, but we got I mean, they did leaves to the Bills and the Bengals, Like that doesn't matter on the field, the idea that well they're amazing. They lost head to head to both those teams. Like it's it's you know, there's there's not basically on nothing. What do you got. There's a whole I'm in a whole other online war because I said, because I said, Jalen Hurts should still win the MVP despite getting hurt if he comes back next week and they finished the job and the Chiefs fans, I mean it is they feel really disrespected in this season because here they are. They win, they win the division seven years in a rout. We don't even show the highlights. On Monday, they do it again and then Mahomes is gonna break like the passing record and we just are like, all right, if it's not hurt, it's Burrow or Alan. Like, I feel like there's a feeling of amongst all the fatigue of talking about the Chiefs and chief stands. Don't don't appreciate that except that that's what happing great dominant right exactly, Just let that exist. Just swim in dominance for a second and don't go to the you're taking us for granted and you're taking advantage of us. Sorry, I Submarine the whole segment. It's really it's fascinating conversation. Well no, it's ironic though, because we had to do it to talk about the chiefs right just to Submarine. Yeah, we should just get the chief minutes on the jets. I apolished one end to the other. Literally. Ian Rappaport is joining us once again. Are at a full network insider, Ian m You've got the latest on teams that are set to face off tomorrow in a special Saturday showcase on a holiday weekend. We'll start with the Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson once again the third week in a row out for this game, dealing with a PCL sprain one to three week injury. This is the third week she'll presumably should be ready to come back to that he was actually come back this week was not to be Tyler's Snoop Hundley going to be the starting quarterback there for the Baltimore Ravens. Another quarterback issue. The Philadelphia Eagles are starting Gardner Minshew their backup and now let's see someone considered to be one of the better backups in the NFL. He is going to start because Jalen Hurts, the potential MVP. I'm with you, Schraeger, potential MVP is out with a sprained right shoulder, not considered to be a major injury. But you really do have to wonder if the Eagles win and clinch the number one seat and to buy do we see Jalen Hurts again in the regular season. Meanwhile, same game, Micah Parsons, the do everything linebacker Pro Bowl, are really one of the best players regardless of position missed two days of practice this week, dealing when the Nimeless was not even in the building. They kept him away. Did return yesterday to practice on a limited basis. Listed is questionable, but it does seem like he's trending in the right direction.
