ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Work with me: https://neurovisionedge.lovable.app
Stop repeating reps. Coach the intention, not the action. You cannot motivate your kid. In this episode of the NeuroVision Edge Podcast, Dr. Aakash Shah sits down with the founder of ActionTypes to break down how fluidity, natural movement and adaptability are actually built in young athletes, and why most practice design works against them.
ABOUT THE GUEST
Bertrand Théraulaz is the co-founder of ActionTypes, an approach to individualized movement and motivation he has been developing since 1989. He started on a volleyball court as a coach in Switzerland, and the work has since spread into roughly 30 sports, into companies and into therapy rooms. He spent six years with the England and Wales Cricket Board educating their coaches. He is a friend and collaborator of Wolfgang Schöllhorn, the researcher behind differential learning, and he has just released his work in English for the first time. He joins us from Switzerland alongside Mathis, a basketball coach who runs the ActionTypes courses for the English speaking world.

Bertrand's work is now available in English for the first time. Get the book, explore the ActionTypes approach and find the English language courses run by Coach Mathis here:

If this changed how you think about practice design, subscribe and turn on notifications, because part two with Bertrand is already on the way. Then do one thing for me. Go to your next session, run three or four reps, and change one variable. The angle, the hand, the target, the tempo. Tell me in the comments what you changed and what happened, because that is where the real learning starts.
At the professional level we do not guess this. We test it. Baseline, retest, and a warm up built off your numbers instead of a template. If you want to see where your visual system is actually holding you back, apply through the link in the description.
