Sam: Welcome back to the Mustache Multiverse, your one stop shot for superheroes, movies, and more. Once again, I'm Sam.
Alex: And I'm Alex.
Sam: And today we've got a treat. We have been blessed with content.
Alex: Yes we have. And there's so much more content to come. We're just getting getting a taste. But the content you're referring to here is the San Diego Comic Con this weekend. Sunday night when we're recording this, so it's all wrapped up. We got things to talk about, let me tell ya.
Sam: It's my favorite time of year. We get all the cool stuff, and and there was some lull years where we weren't getting a ton of Marvel content. We're fully back on board.
Alex: Yeah, and you know what's really interesting is I think there could have been more from Marvel, but I think they're saving some things because D twenty three is like a month away. So like this was an epic, epic panel. Lots of great announcements from Disney and Marvel. But like I think there's gonna be something even bigger coming for D twenty three. They wanna save the big stuff for themselves.
Sam: Completely agree. And like we're gonna be post Spider-Man at that point. So like whatever we learn from there will probably be maybe reflected in whatever new trailer we get for Doomsday, potentially at D twenty three. And I also think that Disney needs good press right now. They've had a slew of like firings throughout the company through multiple organizations of the company. So they're saving for some like really good press at D twenty three.
Alex: Yeah. Well, let's see if any of this news that we got today can kinda distract from their tough, tough quarter that they've been having right now. let's start with the casting news that was announced. officially Ryan Gosling coming to the MCU after all this time as ghost writer in his own movie, I believe twenty twenty seven, twenty twenty-eight. Yeah. Summer twenty twenty eight, I think.
Sam: It is tango.
Alex: No, February. February?
Sam: On dude, that's really good.
Alex: One of the greatest actors of our generation coming to the MCU after all this time.
Sam: I really like that.
Alex: Amaze, amaze, amaze.
Sam: Shut up shout out in the comments.
Alex: You know what? Fist my bump for that one, dude.
Sam: yeah, I couldn't
Alex: Anyway.
Sam: agree more. I think that he's riding high right now. I think that Project Tail Mary was huge for him. I've heard that Star Wars Starfighters or whatever the new Star Wars movie that he's gonna be in. I think that's him, right?
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: Receiving a lot of praise. yeah, why don't you double check that back?
Alex: Check. But yeah, yeah, I believe you're right.
Sam: But he he is just gaining in this like action superhero esque world right now. I mean he's always been kind of a a titan in the field, obviously, of acting. But he's gained such mo
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: All this momentum recently, I think this is the perfect time to get Ryan Gausling in the MCU.
Alex: Yeah, like he's done all these projects where he's like really shown off his range from earlier in the career being the rom com guy. Now he's starting to transition into like sci-fi kind of blockbuster movies, like we saw him in The Fall Guy, Project Hail Mary, Barbie, now Star Wars coming up, and then of course the MCU.
Sam: I it it's a very similar playbook to like Ryan Reynolds, right? Do the rom coms get really good, really well known at that, and then continue to flex into kind of the comedy world, but also in this action here.
Alex: Yeah, absolutely. I love the casting. Super excited. I loved him in Project Hail Mary, one of the best movies of the year this year. Can't wait to see what he does with the character of Ghost Rider, someone who I feel like seems like a bit of a more of a darker character than maybe we're used to Ryan Reynolds playing Ryan Gosling playing, excuse me. But he did have a movie Drive a few years ago where he showed his range where he can play more of a darker, violent, more gritty character, so
Sam: I think it opens up the MCU too. I think as we continue to dive into kind of the magic side of the MCU, it's going to continue to explore characters like Ghost Rider that lean a little bit more into that space. I couldn't
Alex: Yes.
Sam: be more excited. I think he's gonna do great. And I'm calling it right now. Time stamp it, come back to this podcast in three, two, two years when you're listening to this. Nick Cage is having a cameo.
Alex: he's got it, right?
Sam: Not as Superman. I want that to be clear.
Alex: Dude hasn't been in a dude hasn't been in a what? Dude, come on, that was such a good such good KBO with the Flash.
Sam: Que bem.
Alex: Dude. Man, poor Nick Cage. He hasn't done a move too many movies in a while. He probably needs scratch that itch. I feel like he does a movie every year.
Sam: And then so we'll yeah, well he'll come into this movie and then Ryan Gosling, National Treasure Fond.
Alex: Whoa, now we're talking. You know what my my prediction coming out of this announcement is I think this is gonna be another step towards building to a future Midnight Suns movie from Marble, which is
Sam: Sure.
Alex: if we get there someday, Moon Knight, Blade, Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange teaming up to fight some cosmic dark threat like Dormammu from the first Doctor Strange movie, like
Sam: all in on that and I I love I I think every time we we stretch the genre a little bit so like we lean a little bit more into horror, I think we can go further in, right? Like multiverse of madness was supposed to be this big like the leap into horror. It it really wasn't. I I think that it it pushed us
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: a little bit may outside of our bounds. But let's keep going. Right. Let's if if that was
Alex: Right.
Sam: palatable to this audience, take it another step.
Alex: Yeah, that was kind of a big let down for a lot of people from Multiverse of Madness is we wanted it to get dark and a take a different direction, but it kind of ended up feeling more generic Marvel movies. So
Sam: Right, give me a Constantine like movie where it's a kind of dark
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: and gritty and it's really it is kind of scary, but it's still a superhero.
Alex: Yeah. Moving on to the next casting news. It was announced we got David I wanna say Jo Johnson. Yes, David Johnson has been cast as T'Challa's son in the third Black Panther movie coming in twenty twenty eight, December, I believe.
Sam: He is going to rock this role. I I loved him in the long walk. I thought he was phenomenal.
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: What a great movie. He really carried a lot of kind of the emotional weight of that movie in a big way. And so for him to
Alex: Yeah. And
Sam: cause you gotta know you're stepping into an emotionally dense character right now, right?
Alex: Yeah, for sure. And he did a similar thing in Alien Omulus. He was like the emotional core of that movie as well. Another fantastic movie that he was in. And like you said, MCU, the Black Panther character, is kind of in a very emotional kind of I don't know how to how would you phrase it, but obviously with Chad McBosan dying, then in the storyline, T'Challa passes away too. Instead of recasting him, this is the direction that they've gone with. So it's gonna be They needed someone in that role who could carry that emotional weight.
Sam: And he is like the best way that I can describe him is magnetic. Like when you watch him, I can't take my eyes off of him, like in the long walk. He carried the entire story. There's like twelve characters, and you every time he was there, I wanted to hear what he was saying, watch what he was doing. I know that that's part of that character in that movie, but he carried it so well.
Alex: Yeah. And that's a that being a movie as well where it's like it's just them walking. It's not like this big action movie. It's not all these different elaborate set pieces. They're just walking down the road and like he's carrying that movie. Imagine what he can do in one of these big like action movies with a lot of different factors playing into it as well.
Sam: Completely agree. I and I think the biggest question mark a lot of us have, I know you and I have talked about it, is like, how do we get there? Right? He is
Alex: Yes.
Sam: clearly much older than where we saw the Black Panther son at the end of
Alex: Yes.
Sam: Wolconda Forever.
Alex: Correct. And now somehow he'll be like the same age or close to the same age looking as like Shuri and Mbaku. So
Sam: Right. How do we get there?
Alex: So I'm thinking potentially in Doomsday, we know Doom is probably gonna be trying to get the Fantastic Four's kid, Franklin. I feel like he might go after other children of the MCU as well. Thor has a kid, Captain America, Steve Rogers potentially having children, Wanda having children, and maybe something happens with whatever his plan is with the children that it's like a time dilation effect where they grow up a bit. While everyone else stays the same age, whether it's because of Battle World or resetting the multiverse, something like that. That way we can get a young Avengers movie in the future with these characters that we've seen as really young kids so far, but they're aged up a little bit, but they're not like all the other characters have aged as well.
Sam: I completely agree with you. Something's gonna happen because we need to build towards young Avengers. I know that's not really like formally been announced as like a big thing that they're gonna do, as far as I'm aware, but
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: like Young Avengers is on the horizon. They've been setting the pieces of it for a long time, and they keep saying that this next series of or saga, if you will, of like the MCU is gonna focus on like bringing everybody together, including younger generations, right? And we've grown up with this cast of the MCU that we're getting. Again in Doomsday. We didn't think we'd see a lot of them again, but we are going to get a lot of them again. How are you going to take us and the next generation into the next saga? I think you have to introduce characters that they will grow up.
Alex: And I think that was more of the plan for the Kang Dynasty
Sam: I think so too.
Alex: when they were going down that road. I think they had to pivot a little bit, obviously, with everything that happened with Jonathan Majors, and that's how we got to this current phase of the MCU. So I think that stuff got pushed down the pipeline a little bit. But I do think, like you said, we are building to it. We got the pieces in place. Let's capitalize on it somehow.
Sam: It's exciting. Like I want to see it. I think he's gonna do excellent. I think a lot of these players can do really well in this. I think he just i it's not clear exactly yet.
Alex: Yeah. And then one more piece of news before we get to all the doomsday stuff. Vision Quest announced coming out October. does this do anything for you? It's been so long since we've seen where Vision was left off. It kinda is like, okay.
Sam: Well what's he gonna do, right? Like we haven't seen anything in Doomsday about Vision. We haven't really like
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: where is this story going? Are are we are we gonna bring it back in? 'Cause we already kinda had our emotional end with him and now we've brought him back, but for what purpose? So like you're really gonna have to sell me to watch that show.
Alex: And interestingly, I think Kevin Feige did say when he was announcing it at Comic Con that it's gonna be kind of like the end of the trilogy for the Wanda vision arc, so to speak. So like Infinity War, kind of the start of this arc, the Wanda Vision, now the Vision Quest. So maybe Wanda plays a role in this and that we see her getting brought back somehow, that brings her back into the fold before Doomsday or Secret Wars. I don't know.
Sam: Yeah, 'cause she's gotta be somewhere, right, doing something. So that's in October, you said?
Alex: Yeah. Correct.
Sam: So that's before doomsday. So like it it it it may be our last thing before doomsday.
Alex: Yeah, and I mean, speaking of Wanda coming back, I talked about this on socials over the weekend. Did you see the Latvarian witches that were
Sam: I did.
Alex: in the costume section? I don't know if today they ever revealed a red one, but there was a witch costume that was changing colors, could represent different characters that we're gonna see aligning with Doom, potentially Wanda being one of those characters. So if she's gonna align with Doom at some point, she's gotta be brought back in this somehow. And I believe she died. The end of multiverse of madness. We didn't like see it officially happen, but like the big rock crushed
Sam: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Alex: wishy was. I mean, if a character doesn't die on screen in a Marvel movie, probably not dead, but we'll see.
Sam: Agreed. Yeah. And I think that that raises the stakes, which is something that we need with Doom. So I was thinking about this is that, you know, we had so much time to ponder the idea of Thanos, right? Is like every end credit scene for like 10
Alex: Yes. Uh-huh.
Sam: years was like, What is this big bad? It's unimaginably bad. Now we see him, and even just the sight of him at first, you're like, This is bad. Right. Everything in the movies is telling me to prepare for this. People are scared without even knowing what it is. All of that has taken place off screen for Doomsday. We are we we we see him obviously in Fantastic Four as the first time and the only time we've seen him. But all of this hype around like this is a big bad that we really need to be afraid of has happened in the real world, right? And it's because of Robert Downey Jr. It's because we've talked about him like San Diego Comic Cons, but like it it is not quite there, maybe if you're a casual fan. You know what I mean?
Alex: Yeah, it's totally, totally so funny that you said that because Kevin Feige actually said something this weekend to kinda quell those fears that you're having. So let me read you his quote and see if it makes you feel better about all those things you just mentioned.
Sam: I feel like Kevin hears me. I feel like I have a direct line.
Alex: Yeah, Kevin Feige, he he's the director of all things Marvel, right? He probably knows a thing or two about what's going on, so let's hear it.
Sam: Shut out Kevin.
Alex: This is this is a quote. The Thanos buildup has built up in people's heads over the years. He sat on a chair at the end, he pulled out a gauntlet and said, I'll do it myself, and he yelled at Ronan on video screen briefly, and that was kind of it. I remember the memes making fun of Thanos for just sitting on a chair. With Infinity War, we said, This is really the introduction to Thanos to the people. That's how the movie was built. That's what we're doing with Doctor Doom. Thoughts?
Sam: That's gonna seem staged because those are the ballots. But no, I so like I agree.
Alex: Like he's he's minimalizing all the stuff that we learned about Thanos building up to 'cause like he was a big player in Avengers One. He sent Loki to New York, right?
Sam: Agreed. And I think that that's a very like casual viewer way of thinking about it. It's like, maybe I heard his voice or like saw a little bit of him. But like for those of us watching about all the kind of breadcrumbs that Marvel had been laying out the whole time, which we saw this bigger picture unfolding in this big bad that we should be afraid of. It it happened behind the scenes and all the little details that they were hiding. All the Easter eggs are pointing towards this. So it kind of minimalizes what the journey that we were going on. The same has not been done with.
Alex: Right, you can't you can't compare the two. There's been no we've had one post credit scene of Doom and that's that's it. So for Kevin Feige to well, Thanos didn't really do much in the MCU before Infinity War. Really? Sure about that? Sure about that, Kevin?
Sam: I feel like maybe he did.
Alex: And also you have to think with Thanos, it wasn't just about him, it was about the infinity stones as well. And think about how much groundwork was laid for the infinity stones, right?
Sam: Completely agree. Like the Infinity saga just had all these later, like because
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: the first couple of end credits were just like, how do you build a team of like Avengers, right? Then it's the stones,
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: then it's him, right? We haven't had we've had so many storylines that we've picked up and dropped and put back down throughout this kind of second and third phase, but like it it's just not quite there. I think the hype is there. I'm excited. But I think that like when we talk
Alex: Yeah, so they're gonna have to do a lot of heavy lifting. Yeah. I'm excited. I'm getting excited.
Sam: about these witches, it adds credibility or like bigger forces
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: at play on the bad side that I think we need for stakes.
Alex: Yeah. I d it just doesn't I still have the fears in the back of my head and like is this actually going to be can it be up to the level of Infinity War and Endgame? And I don't I don't know. Especially if you look at like Age of Ultron, Ultron's another villain that like could have been this like big threat that was built up to for multiple series of movies and then they just kinda wasted him and his age, so to speak, was like two or three days. So it's like Is there an or is Doom gonna be the next version of that where we're like, Wow, we just wasted one of the biggest villains of the MCU?
Sam: And I completely agree with you, it's really difficult. I just think if they mess this like who's bigger, you know what I mean? It's like that's the biggest name that we have. So like there's gonna be they what did they say? They planned out to like 2042 of like Marvel movies. There's gonna have to be bigger, badder villains and story arcs, which there are, which we all know, right? Especially with X-Men. There are some incredible story arcs with X-Men that really have to play with just X-Men. So you don't really need a bigger threat. Like they are just interconnected X-Men stories, but You have to nail doom. That's what Marvel does.
Alex: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. So let's break down. There was some footage shown at Comic Con of Doomsday, a bit more than we got in the trailer last week. So I'm gonna go over the highlights if you don't want to hear these potential spoilers for a future trailer. Cut away now, but we're gonna be talking about the footage from Comic Con that was shown at Hall H just for those people. Sam, are you ready?
Sam: I haven't seen it yet, so I'm very excited. Paint me a picture in my mind.
Alex: Okay, so it opens with some shots of doom.
Sam: Where am I? What am I wearing?
Alex: You're sitting in the movie theater wearing the same thing you're wearing right now.
Sam: I it would have changed, probably gonna get cold. But yeah, go ahead.
Alex: So it opens up, Shots of Doom, and we get some voiceover from Sue Storm saying He used to be different. Everything he loved was taken. I knew Victor was lost, but I didn't know he was this broken.
Sam: Confirm they know each other.
Alex: So yeah, that confirms they know each other. There's backstory there that we don't haven't seen yet. And I think it also confirms that the post credit scene from Fantastic Four. is gonna be a bit of a bait and switch. It's not gonna be he's there as a threat. I think it's gonna be Doom is showing up to Fantastic Four as a potential ally.
Sam: It's really difficult because I I agree. I I love an emotional tie-in. So like him being friends of theirs is exactly what Doom is really good at and why it's a huge threat. Especially why would you show us Fantastic Four and Doom around the same time without talking about how they know each other? Really good. But I s the only part that I struggle with with that is like why show up in the Doom mask, right? Like if you've gone evil and you show up to my house in a cape, I'm gonna have concerns.
Alex: Yeah, and there d doesn't he wear the mask because his face has been disfigured in some way?
Sam: I think it depends on the storyline, but yeah, I mean, yeah.
Alex: In some stories. I feel like 'cause people also speculate that his face is defigured. He shows up to the Fantasy Four mansion and like hopes that Franklin can repair his damaged face. Which is why we see him with the mask off. You see Franklin kind of reach up to his face. Maybe that's what he's doing there, so we can actually get just like RDJ looking RDJ.
Sam: That would be great. Because I think that's the biggest part of it. We want RDJ to be RDJ. I also think that like it's tying in a lot of these things. 'Cause I've heard like we we keep thinking and theorizing, maybe you've got more information on this now about that picture that he saw that could be potentially like his wife and child or his mother. Is he looking to Franklin
Alex: yeah, that
Sam: to like bring them back? Does he believe the power cosmic can do that?
Alex: He all we know we got in that regard is that everything he loved was taken is a line that Sue Storm says. So
Sam: So obviously loved ones, yeah.
Alex: Yeah. going back to the connection between Mr. Fantastic and Victor, there's a scene where he's like grabbing Doom and being like, Victor, did you do this? Victor, did you do this? So like obviously they
Sam: Do what?
Alex: know each other. I think this is gonna be the way the turn happens. I think this is gonna be where it's revealed that Doom. killed Loki is my guess because we know Thor's coming after him with some heat at some point. I think this is where we find out somehow, I don't know how, but it's revealed. He killed Loki. Yeah, it's using his powers. Thor figures it out and Thor just snaps.
Sam: I mean, I love it, right? I I love that
Alex: we get some other shots. Yeah.
Sam: idea. And I I also think that like right he he can kill Loki, that gets Thor mad. I also think he's probably starting to cause those incursions that we've seen on the screens, so that like
Alex: Yes. Yep.
Sam: that's where Reed can get upset because like he would understand the magnitude of these incursions immediately.
Alex: Yeah, he's like, Did you cause these incursions to destroy
Sam: It's this year.
Alex: all these worlds? Yeah. Yep. 'Cause like you have to think they probably destroyed their homeworld at this point in the movie. I'm assuming that's why they left Fantastic Four's universe because an incursion happens.
Sam: I completely agree. Like the i there's something that happened where he's maybe potentially ended that world and they're off flying to the next and Reed may be blaming him for either the con the incursions or the death of his world, which would be I mean, what an
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: emotional punch.
Alex: Yep, yep. We see other shots in this trailer just of various characters that we've seen in the Doomsday trailer already reacting to things happening. Nothing crazy. Holding each other. You see the Cassie and Scott Lang shot. you see I think Johnny holding somebody with like a son behind him. So like probably an incursion happening. And then we get a little bit more to the Thor striking at Doom. Where Thor says, probably one of the hardest lines Thor has ever said in his life, as he's charging up to attack Doom, he says, You will beg for hell long before I grant it.
Sam: Incredible.
Alex: Incredible. But Duob stops Stormbreaker. We see a bit more to this. He flings Stormbreaker away with his two fingers and then he says, Hell answers to me. my god, dude.
Sam: First off, be prepared. I'm dropping that every time that we hop on a game in the mic in the chat. I'm gonna be dropping that constantly.
Alex: that's yeah, it's my new cat phrase. Insane.
Sam: That is awesome.
Alex: It's so sick. And then the last shot we see is Doom raising the sentinels from the ground. These just giant robots that he's gonna be controlling. And we see him rising all these giant robots from the ground to like help them attack the Avengers and X-Men. We see Avengers and X-Men assembling all around, kinda like the circular shot from the first Avengers movie where we see all the heroes in a circle, you know? It's kinda like that scene, but for this movie with all these giant robots coming out of the ground.
Sam: Dude. So like I'm just trying to think of like
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: the implications of saying that hell answers to me, right? To me, that says like sorcery. I think it says dark magic. I think it could like
Alex: Yeah. There's definitely dark magic at play.
Sam: So like in Hell is a very
Alex: And where does
Sam: specific thing to say, especially for Thor, whose sister was Hella, right? Like she
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: was Hell. And so like is is Hella now gonna be one of the witches that like we get there? Because if Hella answers
Alex: Could be.
Sam: to me, like is Hella part of the team now? Well, 'cause it's a very specific
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: term to use just for Thor.
Alex: Yeah, that's really interesting. I kind of forgot about like where Hello was after Thor Ragnarok. That she doesn't get killed, so like she's still somewhere.
Sam: It it it to me like they don't put coincidences like that. It's a super cool line. But you could have said a couple of different things and you said hell to Thor or Th Thor used it to
Alex: Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Yeah.
Sam: him.
Alex: Thor used it and then he responded with that. So yeah, so cool. I wish they just released this as the trailer rather than what we got. Like the cap return in the Doomsday trailer that we saw doesn't hit as hard because we knew he was coming back 'cause of the other footage they showed us. So like give us this trailer, Disney.
Sam: So do you think this will launch to the public then like at D twenty three or when do we get in this? Or is this gonna be Spider Man brand new
Alex: Probably
Sam: day?
Alex: I doubt that they put it in the brand new day just 'cause they want to give the trailer that they actually released that spotlight. I'm guessing they show it again at D twenty three for another small group of people and then after that they'll release it to the public potentially.
Sam: I want more Doom content right now. I'm just like so hungry for it.
Alex: I know, I wanna yeah, I just I want more of what's going on with him. I want more of his backstory, I want more of the connections, more of the story that's being built. I don't know.
Sam: Which is so funny because like I'm so hyped for Spider Man brand new day, but like seemingly it has little to nothing to do with Doomsday. At least right now.
Alex: Yeah. Yeah. Which there might be there's potentially a c tie in with the post credit scene. I think that's all we're gonna get. I think this brand new day is really about friendly neighborhood Spider Man to a degree. And I think a ground level story that's yeah.
Sam: And r that's all we're gonna get is brand new day, potentially vision quest now, and then doomsday.
Alex: Vision Quest. Yeah, we're we're there, right? So this is we're not gonna get any more Doom content that you're looking for until Doomsday.
Sam: We should play Marvel's Ultimate Alliance.
Alex: We should absolutely play Marvel's Ultimate Alliance, dude. That game was so good.
Sam: Like Emrax.
Alex: All right. Any other thoughts from Comic Con? Do we talk about Deadpool? Deadpool showed up.
Sam: Cinco? He's covered in jeans.
Alex: He was wearing he was just wearing his gray X Force outfit.
Sam: I don't think so.
Alex: D I'm sorry. Do you think Deadpool showed up just wearing like a jean jacket? A Canadian tuxedo?
Sam: I'm pretty sure that he's posted Ryan Reynolds posted Gene Pool.
Alex: I didn't see it. look.
Sam: Go ahead. Who's gonna have denim on their face now? You, my friend. Go ahead. You can say it. For everybody.
Alex: I think that's just the X Force suit.
Sam: dude, it's Gene Pool. If I'm right about this, you show up to doomsday head to toe denim.
Alex: I already know that you're right though.
Sam: Then wear it.
Alex: All right, I'll I will show up to do is a head to toe denim. All right, whatever.
Sam: And bleach tips.
Alex: Well, that's if we get a thousand subscribers, I'll do the bleach tips as well.
Sam: On you now, people.
Alex: But like
Sam: I see your like brain working trying to figure this out. Just accept what is
Alex: I've looked I I see the post that you saw, right? And like, yes, it looks like Denim. It looks like and he it does say G and Poole in Ryan Reynolds post. I'll give you that. But I think it just looks like
Sam: Boom.
Alex: it. I think it's the X-Force. I think it's the X Force
Sam: Bang. G hey, chalk one up for this guy. Woo.
Alex: But I think it's the X Force suit, it just looks like denim, dog.
Sam: If it looks like denim and talks like denim, dude, I I think it's denim.
Alex: All right. Whatever, dude.
Sam: I'm excited to see you wear I mean just I'm talking head to toe, hat, goggles.
Alex: No hat, no goggles. Jeans,
Sam: Okay. Well
Alex: denim jacket. Canadian tuxedo.
Sam: Which tips?
Alex: For a thousand subscribers. I had bleached it. You know what you have to do now.
Sam: Excited.
Alex: All right, let's get away from all this 'cause I was right and you were wrong. Let's move on to Spider Man. Brand new day. This is it. We're in the home stretch. Right? We're in the end game now. For brand new day, if you will.
Sam: Yeah, we're far from home, but to homecoming it now. Right out here supplying bangers.
Alex: It was good, like the far from home part, but like the homecoming part really lost me.
Sam: Yeah, I'm bored.
Alex: We are days away. I'm so excited for Brand New Day. I don't know about you, but I think this could be one of the best movies, if not the best movie of the year. Which Project So Mary's up there right now. It's a high bar. We know Dune's coming out. Dune three. We know Doom's Day is coming out. I think Brand New Day could be better than all of them.
Sam: I think that this is It it it it I completely agree with you. It has a high potential ceiling for this movie because we've really come to know Tom Holland, Spider-Man, and now we finally get the Tom Holland show. Right? We are not I feel like in some of the other movies we really had to rely on a supporting cast of characters, especially large
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: cameos like Iron Man, for example. I know
Alex: Which we are getting those.
Sam: we get the Punisher and we get Hulk, but it feels like to me this time. They are receiving the spotlight getting to be with Spider Man. Instead of Spider Man receiving the spotlight by
Alex: Ooh yeah.
Sam: being with those characters.
Alex: I mean it definitely feels that way for Punisher, right? 'Cause
Sam: Right.
Alex: he's fr he's a T V show character, right? In the Netflix shows. Hulk never really gets his own movies.
Sam: Only a side character.
Alex: Always been a side character, yeah. He gets the Spider Man
Sam: Always a bridesmaid.
Alex: exposure. Never the bride, dude.
Sam: Really good pickup.
Alex: Nice. Alright. I'll give you my bold prediction for this. I think this movie makes over two billion dollars. Easy.
Sam: Two billi excuse me, two billion dollars.
Alex: I think it clears two billion worldwide. Easy. I think we're talking potential
Sam: I'd like that to be true.
Alex: top five earning movie of all time.
Sam: Goodness gracious.
Alex: 'Cause like if you look at that, that's what Avengers, Endgame, Avatar, Second Avatar. So to get into the top five, it's gotta just break two point two six. Easy. Two point five easy. But I'm gonna set it at
Sam: Okay. I'll I'll be fair. I'll take Go ahead, go ahead, set it.
Alex: I'm gonna set I'm gonna set the line at over two billion.
Sam: All right, I'm gonna set it anything up to one hundred and ninety or one ninety nine billion.
Alex: could just say under two billion.
Sam: I like to have a little gray bit grayer.
Alex: Okay, so gentlemen's agreement. I will be right, you will be wrong again. And then you will show up to doomsday in an all denom outfit.
Sam: All right, but we've agreed no goggles, no hats.
Alex: No goggles, no hat. All right, so let's break down everything that needs to be known or talked about that we haven't talked about yet before Spider Man brand new day comes out this Friday. Number one. We still don't know who Sadie Sink is. And it's kind of frustrating.
Sam: It's right, we do and we don't, right? I think that it's all but been confirmed
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: that she's Gene Grey. We just can't say it. And that's where I think that D twenty three I think that D twenty three,
Alex: Wha why? That's my big thing though. Why don't they say it? Yes.
Sam: because we're gonna lead into this mutant saga, we can't talk about it. You see what I'm saying?
Alex: I see where you I yep. I know where you're going. Yep, we're gonna announce the X Men at D twenty three, so they don't wanna announce it now because they don't wanna take steam away from that announcement. Yeah.
Sam: There's gonna be a Exactly. There's gonna be a big lineup of mutant saga. We're gonna next maybe potentially like the next form of movies or at least the next saga, maybe drop a title or two, but it's gonna be Mutant D twenty three.
Alex: Yeah, I think you're I think you're spot on with that. So they're just keeping that. And also the mystery, the intrigue adds to people wanting to see this movie. I think it worked for No Way Home, not revealing the Spider Man. Made you want to go see are they actually in it? I need to find out.
Sam: And I think, yeah, it's really difficult because like she brings a lot of star power to this, especially off the back of Stranger Things. So it's difficult
Alex: Mm, off of Stranger Things.
Sam: not showing her face, right? You y the reason you hire big stars sometimes is to put their face in the commercial, sells tickets to casuals, right? Like people who don't know about the story,
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: they want to see famous people.
Alex: True. And they have been revealing her a little bit more and more as we get closer to like she's been on all the press tours with the cast and things like that. So it's not like they're hiding Sadie Sink. They're just hiding Jean Grey from us.
Sam: Which is difficult. I I maybe I understand why they're doing it with D twenty three on the horizon here. But she is Jean Grey. I feel like everybody's in agreement here.
Alex: Okay, so let's say this then. How disappointed would you be if she's not? Like what if she's just a starfire or the main villain is like Jackal and G he's just controlling another mutant who has these powers but it's not Jean Grey?
Sam: You say Starfire from the D C universe?
Alex: Isn't there a marble? Firestar, my bad.
Sam: Hey, that's hey, that's fine. That's all right.
Alex: Another red headed superhero from Marvel I was you know, that's what other people are speculating.
Sam: I think. My biggest problem is that like for me, Jean Gene Gray is a powerhouse in the MCU. You hired a powerhouse actress who's very
Alex: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Sam: young, who you can take with you for these next several years. And people really like the cat. Like it was responded to very positively. When people are like, she's probably Gene Gray, everyone's like, Okay, cool, I like that. So like if you've already got that, it can be disappointing then if you hire somebody else. I think Jean Gray is I mean, right, potentially the next big bad, not only a brand new day, but like good and bad of the next mutant saga. You know what I'm talking? Like no more mutants kind of thing. Right.
Alex: Yeah. If we get a if we get a proper dark phoenix. Yeah.
Sam: I think that you've hired a young powerhouse actor, actress, it could carry you through these next several years of the mutant saga.
Alex: I mean, I'm just saying, we did go down this road with Marvel hiring a young powerhouse actress off of the back of a big T V show to play Gene Gray, and then it didn't work out. Maybe Marvel has some fears that it's not gonna work out, they're not gonna do it again. Maybe they learned from the Dark Phoenix movie.
Sam: I hear you, I respect you, but this time Tom Holland's there.
Alex: It's great connection though. That was good. That's pretty good.
Sam: Yeah, it is pretty good. That's not bad.
Alex: Yeah. You're right. Tom Holland has that effect. I Sadie Sink, you're right. She's was fantastic in Stranger Things. I feel like in season five, the final season, she was one of the few of like the main cast of kids that really knocked it out of the park. Like I felt like a lot of the kids in that movie were really phoning it in for the last season. Not her.
Sam: To me it felt like she stepped up to the plate, right? It's like you were not necessarily a background character, but someone who needed a lot of like development by we didn't have the emotional tie at the beginning of that show to like come in a little bit later.
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: At the end there, like we were all super emotionally tied into like what's gonna happen with Max. So like she took us on that emotional journey. I think she can do so again.
Alex: Absolutely. All right. So she's sh it's Gene Cray. We know it. Let's move on. what do you think's the deal with the Department of Damage Control? Now obviously they're more of like a villain group in the comics, but it kind of appears that Spider Man's working with them at least in some ways in this movie.
Sam: They're terrible. I don't know. I mean, they're horrible. I d
Alex: There are no good, very bad people. But Yeah. 'Cause we see a shot
Sam: I would love
Alex: in the trailer. Yeah. We see in the trailer
Sam: I'd love to have like a twist. If I would hey, right Dave. Hey.
Alex: Tell me about the twist you'd love. Sorry, what would you love? I'll I'll start.
Sam: I I that guy who's part of succession that is like the that he interrogates Ned, you know what I'm talking about, where he's like, Can we get Ned some food, please? He's been here all day. I love that guy. I think he plays a great
Alex: Yes. Yeah. That guy was so good.
Sam: like dirt bag. And so like him, I want to see him again doing more of that.
Alex: Yeah, I wanna I wanna h definitely get him back. But we do see in the trailer Spider Man talking with the head of the damage control, at least we think, about Sadie Sink maybe after she's been released. So like, why would Spider Man be working with this bad group?
Sam: Right, 'cause you'd almost need them to like completely have changed ownership then, right? Like head
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: like top down reorganization.
Alex: Yeah, and I I think you're right. I think they're gonna be a a bad a bad acting group. I think they might be pretending that Sadie Sink's character is this big bad threat that they need to lock up. I just don't think I think they're gonna try to convince Spider Man to go along with that. I think it's not going to, and that's gonna get kinda lead the story from there.
Sam: Right, I I'm always interested when they toss in 'cause I like when it it helps develop the worlds a little bit more when you toss in like a government agency that we can then see again in another series. So I'm always excited when they're here. I just don't want them taking up too much real estate.
Alex: Yeah, I'd definitely like to see them show up in a future project or a T V show or something in the future as still this v villainous, shadowy organization. Kinda like the Valentina from Thunderbolts, who showed up in all the shows as like, you know, mysterious character recruiting people. She's a bad character, a bad person, but like she's recruiting the heroes to help with something.
Sam: And that character, can we just talk about Valentina is awesome and that's exactly the playbook to use is like basically the Thanos of like the TV shows of like keeps showing up doing bad things.
Alex: Right, exactly. Anything else we need to know? we've gotten more scenes
Sam: I think you gotta know
Alex: of yeah, go ahead.
Sam: so like the Punisher. I think it's important to know where everyone's like emotionally at before going into a movie like this because what I don't like is when you do all this emotional work for different TV shows and movies, you bring them into a movie and they're a completely different person to who I left them off to be. So I think I like to remember where people are so I can understand like
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: who I'm gonna get. So the Punisher, we just I think we talked about it very briefly, but it like Punisher, one last kill. Brutal movie, or do not watch it. But
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: He was in a very dark place and he's still there, but there was a he took to the streets again as the punisher at the end of
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: that show. So like he was coming back out to go help people. So I think that's where we find him is looking for redemption still.
Alex: And do we know Yeah. Do we know where that fits in, the one last kill short series in like the timeline? Because there's obviously like it's been a while since No Way Home. 'Cause Ned
Sam: Right.
Alex: and MJ talk about graduating from MIT.
Sam: Yeah. It's been four years.
Alex: So it's been at least three years, four years, right? So like, is the Punisher's thing right after it? Has he been on the streets for a while? Obviously, him and Spider Man have a rapport. So like that's been built up over the last three years. So maybe he's been on the street for like two years working on this.
Sam: I can get on board with that, right? Is that like I I would like to see us not I don't want to see them like bump into each other and like get to know each other. Like I like when they've got like an already
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: established.
Alex: Yeah. Yeah, but I think yeah, Punisher and Spider Man are both coming at this movie from a dark place. We're gonna see some very like emo heavy emotions from the two in this movie. A wide range.
Sam: Completely agree. And that's I so I think it's important to understand where those two are. I think it's important to understand like where Hulk is. Last time we saw
Alex: Mm-hmm.
Sam: him, he's got this device, right, that he can control more or less, like his human
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: form, banner form, which we haven't seen for a while. I it was he was in She Hulk, I believe, briefly, in banner form. So he's there. We just don't get a lot of banner.
Alex: Yeah. Yes. And in the in the Shang Chi post credit scene, I think he's in banner form as well.
Sam: Think you're right.
Alex: Think it's him, Captain Marvel, and Shang Chi are like looking at the rings and something happens. Which but also that post credit scene doesn't exist anymore because I think they dropped it. So let's forget about that. Just get out of there. So yeah, he's where it but I believe it only like he can alternate between himself, banner, and smart Hulk. I think he's
Sam: Okay.
Alex: like fully found a way to keep Savage Hulk or like Hulk Hulk.
Sam: Rage monster hole.
Alex: repressed. Which I think could be why he comes out as such a big bad rage monster in this, because he's been suppressed basically since Infinity War.
Sam: And I do like that because like it's a recurring theme in like comic books and everything is that like we don't just get to have the good without the bad with Hulk. It's like we get smart Hulk and he's great.
Alex: Yeah, we kick you the perfect, best of both worlds.
Sam: Exactly. Like he has to let loose sometimes. And I know we got a lot of that at the beginning of the Avengers, so maybe they've like calmed it down. I'm ready again to see Hulk let loose.
Alex: Yeah, absolutely. Gimme the thunderclap. Let me see him destroying buildings, get banned from New York, all these things.
Sam: Love it. Here for it.
Alex: speaking of that, we did get a bit more it does appear that Spider-Man and Punisher are gonna be fighting Smart Hulk at the start of the scene where Hulk fully unleashes. So maybe he's being controlled by Sadie Sink's character at that point, and then while being controlled, Hulk Hulk gets let out and goes on a rampage.
Sam: Very interested to see, like Sadie Singh's character, Gene Gray, probably, is becoming like
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: this Omega-level mutant, which she is. It's going to be very interesting to see how they like handle that with power scaling moving forward. Because you're introducing
Alex: Yeah. Yeah.
Sam: quite a character that can take over the Hulk, small Hulk. Right. And like Bruce Banner is
Alex: Yeah. Right.
Sam: supposed to be one of the smartest people on the planet. You would think that would come with some kind of like. mental barriers to something like this. Maybe not. He's not
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: magical, but I mean, she's now able to take him over.
Alex: And we see in the trailer as well, her energy like goes through like the whole city and like the whole city kinda gets like dazed by it. So like she's powerful enough to have an effect on the entire city, potentially.
Sam: I I just think like when you talk about mutants when compared to superheroes, you get these different power scales and these omega level mutants are a whole different story.
Alex: Absolutely. All right. That's all I got. Let's real quick, let's do some post credit scene predictions. What do you think we're gonna get as a post credit scene that will connect this movie somehow to Doomsday?
Sam: Take.
Alex: You give it to me.
Sam: Ooh, ow, it's so hot. So that's hot. This take is hot. Ooh. Ooh, I've got a sweet burn from that
Alex: Ooh ooh ouchie ooh ooh wee.
Sam: hot take. so this hot take is that we're bringing Loki. Sorry, yeah, go ahead and toss that in. and play the music if you could.
Alex: Brought to you by sorry. Yeah, the UN sponsorship.
Sam: thanks. Actually. so this hot take is that Loki is coming into this end credit scene. So I I think what they try to do is separate a little bit of like what happens in the shows and the movies, because you don't get mean you have a massive drop-off between those who watch the shows and those who watch the movies. So what they did with Loki in the shows was incredible and really set up this cool story, which we I think all agree is gonna really play heavily into Doomsday. But how do you bridge the gap between TV Loki that we saw had all this work done to him to now movie Loki? Where's that gap? We don't have a lot of opportunity between now and Doomsday. I think it happens here in some kind of end credit scene, but you have to tell the general public, the larger audience, where is located.
Alex: That is fair. It could even be like Loki showing up to Steve Rogers in his branch timeline. Cause we see a bit of that in the Doomsday trailer of him giving Steve Rogers a card. Maybe we see that full scene play out and he shows up and he's like, Hey, you've caused problems by being here. Like I'm here I'm good now, I'm here to I've made amends for my mistakes. I wanna help the multiverse or whatever, and you're causing a problem. We might have to like destroy your reality. And Steve's like, No thanks.
Sam: That feels very infinity saga to me is that like you have an end credit scene that now opens up questions, but the door to your next movie, right? We haven't had a lot of that recently. So I would love if they took this because we have one opportunity, one movie, one end credit scene before Doomsday.
Alex: Yeah, this is our only chance. Yep. Very good. I like it. My thought was kind of going the opposite direction and explaining why Spider Man is not in Doomsday, because we haven't seen him in any of the marketing. He
Sam: sure.
Alex: doesn't appear to be in this. I've talked about it on Twitter. I think I think Peter Parker dies in this movie. Only
Sam: It may be sad.
Alex: to be only to be brought back either at the end or in a post credit scene by the symbiote.
Sam: It's really cool.
Alex: We know damage control is playing a role, right? We know that damage control is the group that got a little bit of the symbiote when Venom came to our universe because of the No Way Home spell. There was a post-credit scene of Venom on a beach talking to Danny Rojas. And then Venom got sent or Tom Hardy got zinked back to his reality as the str strange spell went off, but a little bit of the Venom symbiote was left behind. And I think that could play a role in Secret Wars, because we know in part of Secret Wars, everybody gets brainwashed to forget who they are, essentially. But the symbiote attached to Peter Parker, he could wake up on Battle World. The symbiote has like multiversal, like intertwined web, basically.
Sam: You think he's the key then?
Alex: It might be the key to bringing everybody back. So I think it's gonna explain why
Sam: I mean, it's cool.
Alex: Spider Man's out of Doomsday and gonna be back in Secret Wars.
Sam: You have to explain it somehow because he's your biggest star. You've built him so big and now you won't use him. Like you have to have an explanation.
Alex: Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Right. He is he is the face of the MCU at this point. There's no bigger
Sam: Completely agree.
Alex: actor that we have besides like RDJ, but he's the bad guy now.
Sam: Right. I c I there has to be an explanation. I just don't know if that's gonna happen in a post credit scene or the end of the movie is so definitive that we understand. We're be like we we get it why he's not there.
Alex: Yeah. Okay. Here we I'll play it out for you. But Peter Parker dies in this movie. Post credit scene.
Sam: what am I where am I at? What am I wearing?
Alex: You're wearing all denim because this is gonna lead into doomsday.
Sam: Sucks. Okay, that's fine.
Alex: post credit scene. But we see like the symbiote either attached to his body and goes unnoticed, and then that's all we see is just see the symbiote attach onto him. Cut to black. Peter Parker will return in Secret Wars shows up on the screen. Then the doomsday post credit scene. You're in a graveyard, zooming in, zooming in, zooming in. Black suit Spider-Man hand comes out of the ground. Get that shot from the comics of him rising from his grave with the symbiote suit.
Sam: I like it. I can't say I don't like it, dude.
Alex: I don't know. I just kinda committed to this Peter Parker's dying thing. So like here we are. Gotta make it make sense somehow.
Sam: To me though, that's it. Like that to me is the end. Because then you would have Brand New Day, you would have him not in Doomsday, you'd have him in Secret Wars as this kind of dead zombie version of Venom. And then you really that'd probably be the end of the character.
Alex: I don't know if it like fully kills if the symbio takes him over. I think it like
Sam: So is he dead at the end of brand new day is
Alex: Brings him.
Sam: what I guess I'm asking for you with your theory.
Alex: I don't know how like the symbiote works. We see in like the symbiote can heal the host. Right? We see that in the Venom movies. So like if he's not dead, maybe he's close to dead. All right. He's close to dead, right? He's badly hurt by something. Well, he already has
Sam: Yeah.
Alex: healing powers. I don't know. Ha. The symbiote's gonna save his life.
Sam: Okay.
Alex: Whether he's dead or close to dead. I don't know if we can bring him back from the dead is my big thing.
Sam: But so then my question is, 'cause then to me it's this it doesn't matter. It's the same either way. If he's close to dead and then you take
Alex: Yeah.
Sam: him into battle world, he has to stay with the Sybil for probably the rest of his existence because if it leaves him, he may then die. Or you're saying it fully heals him, they
Alex: Well, I think it it heals him. Yeah. 'Cause like if the symbio left
Sam: I think of it.
Alex: Eddie Brock, it doesn't like if Eddie Brock breaks his arm, Symbio heals it, and then symbiote leaves, it doesn't like break his arm again.
Sam: I don't know, it it's different because a symbiotic relationship means we both need each other. You know what I mean?
Alex: Yeah, but like Toby McGuire was able to take off the suit.
Sam: Well, but Toby McGuire, your finger guns down the road. Think about that?
Alex: I don't know. I just really want it to happen.
Sam: It's cool. I get it.
Alex: I think yours is I think yours theory is more likely. More prob more makes more sense, but it'd be cool. It'd be so cool. I just want Venom in the MCU.
Sam: I hear ya. It's cool. I want more I want Tom Holland to
Alex: But I think we
Sam: a figure guns down the street.
Alex: I I do think we get at least two more Tom Holland Spider Man movies.
Sam: pure Tom Holland Spider Man movies. Or you're saying movies with Tom Holland in it?
Alex: Yeah. I think they want to do No, Tom Holland Spider Man movies. I think he's got another trilogy coming. As he should.
Sam: Okay. I would be more than happy for that. I I think that he should as well because that's what I'm saying is that like I think what you're saying could lead to the end of that character. I don't think that that's gonna happen and I don't want that to happen. I I I think that Tom Holland, like he said, face of Marvel right now, keep him for as long as you can.
Alex: Yeah. Yeah. I yeah. 'Cause I think we'll get a potential Venom Tom Holland story being told. And I do think we'll get a Sinister Six at some point. And the Sinister Six movie might be where Tom Holland starts to bring in the next generation of Spider Man, you know, Spider Gwen, Miles Morales, people like that.
Sam: 'Cause I do think that there is gonna be that handoff eventually. I think that he
Alex: And that can be his swan song. Yeah, absolutely.
Sam: will usher in Miles Morales.
Alex: Yeah. And Tom Holland spoke about that in interviews as well. He like he wants to be the guy that does what Downey did for him at some point for another young actor is past that torch essentially. And I think he will. I think he could
Sam: I think they'll give him the opportunity too.
Alex: I think he could do whatever he wants and Marvel will be like, You got it, sir.
Sam: What do we want, Tom?
Alex: He's the biggest star they have and it's gonna stay that way. Unless Timothy Chalamet somehow gets cast in DMCU.
Sam: Which I here's open, dude.
Alex: I'm so excited for a brand new day. I don't know about you, but this movie's gonna be amazing.
Sam: So let's talk about it. We are gonna go see it together as friends.
Alex: Yes, we are well, coworkers.
Sam: Interesting. I mean, don't love finding out this way, but that's fine.
Alex: Sorry. Well it yeah, we're we're co hosts. I w friends is a bit much. Pump the brakes. No. As friends, dude, I'd give you my blood. Remember? Call back to the amazing Spider Man episode. Everybody go watch that linked below, I'm sure.
Sam: Yeah, I like that.

Alex: big As friends, so as well on Friday, we're gonna be putting out our official mustache multiverse stash tradamus predictions for SummerSlam. I'm gonna walk save through every match on the card. We're both gonna make our picks, and there'll be some kind of bet that we have based on the results, and the loser will have to do something like wear an Haldinim suit to Doomsday, something along those lines. As friends
Sam: And if you don't watch WWE, you may be hearing these names for the first time along with me.
Alex: But if you don't watch WWE, it's a great way to get introduced. It's one of their biggest shows of the year. And it really does follow the hero heroes journey that we all love. Right? I'll break that all down for you this Friday on the channel. So subscribe down below if you want to hear all about SummerSlam.
Sam: And let and let's thwip on out of here. Did
Alex: And I'm Alex.
