ABOUT THIS EPISODE
You can have a roof over your head and still feel unwanted in your own home, and that kind of rejection doesn’t stay in childhood. It can quietly train you to chase approval, overachieve, and then carry that same hunger for acceptance into every relationship and every room you walk into.
I’m joined by Aisha Berry, a prophetess, author, coach, and speaker, for an honest conversation about childhood trauma, family rejection, and the long road to real self-worth. We talk about how perfectionism can be a survival strategy, why people pleasing feels safer than boundaries, and what it looks like when you start seeing partners as “projects” because you’re addicted to proving you can make something work. Aisha also shares the moment she accepted a painful truth: some families don’t have the capacity to give the love you deserve, and peace begins when you stop fighting for what they refuse to offer.
We go deeper into spiritual healing and emotional healing, including the role of forgiveness, asking hard questions about your triggers, and refusing to live inside boxes people assign to you. If you’ve ever been labeled the black sheep, the problem child, or “too different,” this will help you rethink the label and reclaim your identity with clarity and courage.
Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find these conversations. What part of your old narrative are you ready to challenge today?

00:00:02.240 --> 00:00:15.039
MindShift Power Podcast This is Mind Shift Power Podcast, the number one critically acclaimed podcast where we have raw, unfiltered conversations that shape tomorrow.
00:00:15.039 --> 00:00:19.359
I'm your host, Fatima Bey, the Mind Shifter.
00:00:19.359 --> 00:00:22.320
And welcome everyone.
00:00:22.320 --> 00:00:24.800
Today we have with us Aisha Berry.
00:00:24.800 --> 00:00:26.960
She is in Maryland in the USA.
00:00:26.960 --> 00:00:31.519
She is a prophetess, an author, a coach, and a speaker.
00:00:31.519 --> 00:00:34.000
And I'm really looking forward to this conversation.
00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:39.759
I've been looking forward, I've been looking to have this conversation for a while, and I finally found the right guest for it.
00:00:39.759 --> 00:00:47.439
So today's conversation is for every young person out there who's ever felt unwanted in their own home.
00:00:47.439 --> 00:00:49.679
How are you doing today, Aisha?
00:00:49.679 --> 00:00:52.320
I'm doing excellent, Fatima.
00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:53.600
Thank you for having me.
00:00:53.600 --> 00:00:54.719
How are you?
00:00:54.719 --> 00:00:55.759
Hey, thank you.
00:00:55.759 --> 00:00:56.240
Good.
00:00:56.240 --> 00:00:57.679
Thank you for agreeing to come on.
00:00:57.679 --> 00:00:59.920
Well, I like to dive right into the conversation.
00:00:59.920 --> 00:01:04.000
So you grew up feeling unwanted in your own family.
00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:06.159
What does that do to a child?
00:01:07.439 --> 00:01:22.319
It brings on a lot of trauma and a lot of compensating because you wonder why they don't like you and you try to win their approval like love and acceptance at any cost.
00:01:22.319 --> 00:01:26.319
And for me, it turned into overperformance in school.
00:01:26.319 --> 00:01:29.519
I always I was addicted to straight A's.
00:01:29.519 --> 00:01:43.200
I was addicted to being the best student, to being my best in hopes that that maybe they will be kinder to me, maybe they will be more humane towards me, maybe they will show me respect, affection, and love.
00:01:45.519 --> 00:01:46.400
And you know what?
00:01:46.400 --> 00:01:47.439
You're so right.
00:01:47.439 --> 00:01:55.439
In your it's see, that lack of wanting to be loved and wanting to be accepted, it manifests itself in many different ways.
00:01:55.439 --> 00:02:01.200
But for you're saying for you, it was addiction to success and being noticed.
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:08.240
Unfortunately, for some people, it's addiction to other things uh or they try to fill in that void with other things.
00:02:08.240 --> 00:02:11.280
Um, but yeah, that's what it produces.
00:02:11.280 --> 00:02:19.199
So tell me, how did that rejection follow you into adulthood, into every room that you walked into?
00:02:20.400 --> 00:02:25.439
So when entreated and healed, it will manifest in other ways.
00:02:25.439 --> 00:02:35.759
In adulthood, it manifested as me in relationships, let's dive into that, accepting less than what I knew was worth.
00:02:35.759 --> 00:02:41.520
Even knowing inside that that's not what just going, you know, oh that's what I can get, let me take that.
00:02:41.520 --> 00:02:45.120
Because I was still in that mode where I wanted to please.
00:02:45.120 --> 00:02:47.199
I was in the people pleaser.
00:02:47.199 --> 00:02:54.479
So I found myself with projects in relationship, it met that I needed to build up.
00:02:54.479 --> 00:02:57.120
Can you give us some examples?
00:02:58.560 --> 00:02:59.120
Some examples.
00:02:59.120 --> 00:03:05.039
I'm asking you that because I want the audience to see what that actually looks like, not just understand the concept.
00:03:05.919 --> 00:03:07.360
Okay, an example.
00:03:07.360 --> 00:03:16.479
So I was married for six years, and to be honest, I should have gotten separated and eventually divorced way earlier.
00:03:16.479 --> 00:03:25.840
So I got married to somebody, and as soon as I got my footing into the corporate world, they decided I didn't no longer wanted to work.
00:03:25.840 --> 00:03:30.879
And I was the one looking for jobs for them, and they never wanted to take it.
00:03:30.879 --> 00:03:34.479
It was either they were overqualified or underqualified.
00:03:34.479 --> 00:03:42.800
And um, I kept making excuses for it until I got pregnant with baby number two, and finally I was like, no, this is too much.
00:03:42.800 --> 00:03:46.879
I can't be raising three kids, and one of them being older than me.
00:03:46.879 --> 00:03:47.520
Oh.
00:03:47.520 --> 00:03:51.039
So he had a child older than you on top of that?
00:03:51.039 --> 00:03:53.520
I'm talking about him, my ex-husband.
00:03:53.840 --> 00:03:54.960
Oh, I got you.
00:03:54.960 --> 00:03:55.520
Okay.
00:03:55.520 --> 00:03:59.919
I'm not even gonna edit that out.
00:04:01.199 --> 00:04:05.919
So I couldn't be raising a men's child, and those were my words before I got separated.
00:04:05.919 --> 00:04:07.680
I cannot date and raise you.
00:04:07.680 --> 00:04:08.639
I'm not your mom.
00:04:08.639 --> 00:04:10.240
Mom is not sexy.
00:04:10.639 --> 00:04:11.360
You know what?
00:04:11.360 --> 00:04:11.919
You're right.
00:04:11.919 --> 00:04:17.920
And that is one of the things that happens when we don't take care of that issue.
00:04:17.920 --> 00:04:25.279
Um, we end up making decisions that are lifelong decisions that really affect us, trying to be accepted.
00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:33.120
So, do you think that if you had been wanted, um, if you felt wanted or loved, you do you think you would have accepted staying with him?
00:04:33.439 --> 00:04:36.079
No, because I saw him again as a project.
00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:38.160
You know, it I was addicted to success.
00:04:38.160 --> 00:04:44.160
So I'm like, for me, it was like I can build him up, I can break him down, I can Ah, okay.
00:04:44.160 --> 00:04:44.879
Mm-hmm.
00:04:44.879 --> 00:04:47.839
You're saying you saw so you saw him as a project.
00:04:47.839 --> 00:04:48.560
Yeah.
00:04:48.560 --> 00:04:55.680
So if I were healed, I would see all the baggages of because I have, you know, I had my own childhood trauma, but he had his trauma too.
00:04:55.680 --> 00:04:58.319
So trauma with trauma together is not good.
00:04:58.319 --> 00:05:04.160
And I was trying to get away from the trauma, whereas he had not even acknowledged his pain.
00:05:04.160 --> 00:05:10.399
When we don't acknowledge part of healing, the first step to healing is acknowledging that there's a problem.
00:05:10.399 --> 00:05:11.759
Yes, it is.
00:05:12.079 --> 00:05:19.199
And sometimes that's the hardest, actually, honestly, sometimes that's the hardest part, is just admitting that there's an issue.
00:05:19.199 --> 00:05:21.839
I don't need nobody, I don't need nothing, I'm just fine.
00:05:21.839 --> 00:05:23.839
And that's what we tell ourselves, right?
00:05:23.839 --> 00:05:25.120
Especially men.
00:05:26.240 --> 00:05:26.879
Yes.
00:05:27.199 --> 00:05:30.399
Um, so let me ask you this.
00:05:30.399 --> 00:05:35.040
So we got the general background, but I really want to focus on this part of the conversation.
00:05:35.040 --> 00:05:40.560
What did healing actually look like for you on an emotional level?
00:05:40.959 --> 00:05:54.959
And when did that make it look like walking it from a family that never approved of me, that never accepted me, and no longer having to cry myself to sleep because I didn't know what was wrong with me.
00:05:54.959 --> 00:05:57.519
I learned and found that I was different.
00:05:57.519 --> 00:06:00.560
I understood that I was the black sheep of the family.
00:06:00.560 --> 00:06:10.639
And the black sheep is the one who goes against the grind, the one who rewrites tradition, rewrites bloodlines, because that's the one who understands that there's a different way to do things.
00:06:10.639 --> 00:06:18.079
And I understood that they could not only give me what they knew, they lacked the capacity to love me in the first place.
00:06:20.720 --> 00:06:23.439
So you you understood that on an emotional level.
00:06:23.439 --> 00:06:26.240
Take us through the journey of what did that look like for you?
00:06:26.240 --> 00:06:28.160
Like when did that process start?
00:06:28.160 --> 00:06:33.600
What create what made that process happen inside you on an emotional level?
00:06:33.920 --> 00:06:42.800
On an emotional level, it's when I graduated with my associates because I moved to the US for college and I called my father, I was so excited and proud of myself.
00:06:42.800 --> 00:06:46.560
And he's like, oh, okay, you you have to talk to my wife.
00:06:46.560 --> 00:06:51.199
That's the stepmom who wanted me dead from the day she met me.
00:06:51.199 --> 00:06:53.920
Um so, and I was like, okay, you know what?
00:06:53.920 --> 00:06:55.279
That's fine.
00:06:55.279 --> 00:06:56.879
He that's his reality.
00:06:56.879 --> 00:07:00.720
He has chosen to live in fear and not freedom.
00:07:00.720 --> 00:07:02.480
And that's fine.
00:07:02.480 --> 00:07:07.279
This is this was the moment where I realized that they really don't care about me.
00:07:07.279 --> 00:07:09.199
And I was like, you know what, that's fine.
00:07:09.199 --> 00:07:19.360
I'm walking away, not in anger, not in bitterness, but with understanding that we are not on the same page and we want different things, which is absolutely fine.
00:07:19.360 --> 00:07:21.600
That was the first step.
00:07:21.600 --> 00:07:31.040
The next step was um later on, you know, I went through another healing because healing, I believe healing is continual.
00:07:31.040 --> 00:07:32.319
We have not healed.
00:07:32.319 --> 00:07:35.279
You are healing from something, but we are always healing.
00:07:35.279 --> 00:07:36.560
Should we do the work?
00:07:36.560 --> 00:07:38.720
So I went to the stage.
00:07:38.720 --> 00:07:45.759
For me, it was that prompting in my heart to just cut my hair off and start over.
00:07:45.759 --> 00:07:48.319
And do you know we carry a lot of stress in our hair?
00:07:48.319 --> 00:07:57.600
I'll look back, I'm like, all those decades from childhood trauma, from uh to adolescence, looking for myself, finding myself, being married, and getting divorced, it's too much.
00:07:57.600 --> 00:08:02.560
So I understood why I had that prompting to just go for the big shop and start over.
00:08:03.519 --> 00:08:14.959
So what I'm hearing from you is you had to go through the process of accepting that you would never be accepted.
00:08:16.879 --> 00:08:17.439
Yes.
00:08:17.439 --> 00:08:18.480
Yes.
00:08:18.480 --> 00:08:27.600
It didn't make it any less painful, but it gave me peace, knowing that I was not the problem because I was made to be the problem all the time.
00:08:27.600 --> 00:08:36.000
And now one, and also I think in my case, what really helped me is moving away from that family, not being there, you know, they're all the way in another continent.
00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:37.120
I'm here in the US.
00:08:37.120 --> 00:08:39.840
So that space really helped me, you know.
00:08:39.840 --> 00:08:42.879
And I believe I was brought here to to drown.
00:08:42.879 --> 00:08:46.960
Let's see, the US is a sea, I'm at the sea and I don't know how to drive.
00:08:46.960 --> 00:08:54.799
Uh, I was thrown here without them knowing that I superior, superior uh swimming skills.
00:08:54.799 --> 00:09:00.080
It's here that I found myself, that I uncovered the truth of my identity.
00:09:00.080 --> 00:09:02.960
And uh I just exposed the lies.
00:09:03.279 --> 00:09:10.320
So did you, when you said you exposed the lies, you just fell into that, or did you intentionally seek out a way to heal from it?
00:09:12.000 --> 00:09:15.039
Uh I intentionally I saw that.
00:09:15.039 --> 00:09:20.320
You know, when the when the teacher student is ready, the teacher shows up, right?
00:09:20.320 --> 00:09:21.120
For me.
00:09:21.120 --> 00:09:22.000
Yes, yes, yes.
00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:25.600
It was uh an invitation to church.
00:09:25.600 --> 00:09:29.279
And I took that invitation and it just started opening the door.
00:09:29.279 --> 00:09:35.039
And as I accepted that invitation to go to church, I was riding the bus from college home.
00:09:35.039 --> 00:09:37.759
The bus driver happened to be a pastor.
00:09:37.759 --> 00:09:41.519
And one day, every we every every day he would talk to me, minister to me.
00:09:41.519 --> 00:09:42.720
He gave me a Bible.
00:09:42.720 --> 00:09:49.440
And the last time I saw him, I'm like, I know that usually you start a book from the beginning to the end, but where do I start in this book?
00:09:49.440 --> 00:09:50.960
He's like, great question.
00:09:50.960 --> 00:09:52.320
Start with the book of John.
00:09:52.320 --> 00:09:55.120
And he told me, my assignment is over.
00:09:55.120 --> 00:09:57.039
Fatima, I didn't know what he meant.
00:09:57.039 --> 00:09:58.639
I never saw that man again.
00:09:58.879 --> 00:10:00.960
Ah, his assignment was to get you started.
00:10:00.960 --> 00:10:04.559
So let's let's go jump into my next question that I was going to ask you anyway.
00:10:04.559 --> 00:10:12.720
So we talked about a little bit, you gave us a little bit of background about what it actually looked like at an emotional level for you to heal.
00:10:12.720 --> 00:10:22.159
And I think the biggest thing, part of that, is the acceptance because I think a lot of times people, and I have counseled people and seen this personally, so I know what you mean.
00:10:22.159 --> 00:10:28.240
The hardest part is accepting that the person will not admit that they mistreated you.
00:10:28.240 --> 00:10:31.519
They will not accept that you are who you are.
00:10:31.519 --> 00:10:36.159
They won't accept, and you have to be okay with not being accepted.
00:10:36.159 --> 00:10:43.360
But let's talk about what made you feel accepted because a large part of your story is the spiritual healing that took place.
00:10:43.360 --> 00:10:44.559
So take us into that.
00:10:44.559 --> 00:10:49.679
You just started it with the Bible, with him giving you the Bibles, but tell us more about your experience with that.
00:10:50.000 --> 00:10:55.440
So, my experience after that, on my way to the church, I was invited to it, was a bigger church.
00:10:55.440 --> 00:10:56.720
I stumbled.
00:10:56.720 --> 00:10:57.600
I was pushed.
00:10:57.600 --> 00:10:58.960
That's beyond my explanation.
00:10:58.960 --> 00:11:01.039
At the time, I didn't know it was the Holy Spirit.
00:11:01.039 --> 00:11:03.279
I was pushed into a smaller church.
00:11:03.279 --> 00:11:07.279
And as I got into that church, the pastor was talking about a 40 days fast.
00:11:07.279 --> 00:11:08.799
I'm like, 40 days?
00:11:08.799 --> 00:11:10.559
I grew up Muslim.
00:11:10.559 --> 00:11:17.440
So we would fast during Ramadan, which is um one month, and also from sundown to sun up, 12 hours.
00:11:17.440 --> 00:11:23.039
But this man went 40 days without food, without water, and he told me it's in the Bible.
00:11:23.039 --> 00:11:25.600
And after that, he started to pray.
00:11:25.600 --> 00:11:30.480
And I saw with my own eyes the manifestation of evil spirits.
00:11:30.480 --> 00:11:36.559
My shoes that were tied flew off on their own, off my feet.
00:11:36.559 --> 00:11:37.759
I felt fire.
00:11:37.759 --> 00:11:44.720
And this guy proceeded to talk to me in privacy, revealing the deepest secrets of my life, and I felt naked.
00:11:44.720 --> 00:11:47.759
I was really intrigued and impressed.
00:11:47.759 --> 00:11:50.320
And to be honest with you, it doesn't happen a lot.
00:11:50.320 --> 00:11:52.399
I grew up the father, the daughter of a diplomat.
00:11:52.399 --> 00:11:53.200
We traveled a lot.
00:11:53.200 --> 00:11:57.279
I lived all over the world, speak a few languages, but I was really impressed.
00:11:57.279 --> 00:11:59.519
I was intrigued, but I was scared.
00:11:59.519 --> 00:12:01.120
I went with what was comfortable.
00:12:01.120 --> 00:12:04.000
I hurried up and went to that church where I was invited.
00:12:04.000 --> 00:12:05.600
And I saw that it was a bigger church.
00:12:05.600 --> 00:12:07.919
I'm like, here, at least I can fit in, you know.
00:12:07.919 --> 00:12:11.279
You learn to, you learn those survival habits.
00:12:11.279 --> 00:12:14.639
I can just hide myself without taking up space.
00:12:14.639 --> 00:12:16.080
Nobody's gonna notice me.
00:12:16.080 --> 00:12:20.399
I was getting, I was choosing comfort over growth.
00:12:21.600 --> 00:12:22.240
Mmm.
00:12:22.240 --> 00:12:24.720
You were choosing comfort over growth.
00:12:24.720 --> 00:12:29.519
And what made you make uh a decision to start working towards growth?
00:12:29.840 --> 00:12:33.360
What made me, it's just that that small church, that's the thing.
00:12:33.360 --> 00:12:35.679
Don't be deceived.
00:12:35.679 --> 00:12:42.639
The Bible tells us that even the very elect shall be deceived because it's all glamorous, it's a mega church, but there was no power.
00:12:42.639 --> 00:12:45.039
At the other place, I saw healing.
00:12:45.039 --> 00:12:48.960
I saw healing, I saw miracle signs and wonders, you know.
00:12:48.960 --> 00:12:54.320
And I got deeper because I heard about Prophet Muhammad growing up and I was questioning.
00:12:54.320 --> 00:13:05.600
I was 10 years old then, back in Libya, which is a Muslim country in North Africa, and I was asking, uh-because my name is Muslim name Aisha, I was forced into a class called Quran.
00:13:05.600 --> 00:13:07.679
I'll bring my red mat and pray.
00:13:07.679 --> 00:13:09.039
Do all my five prayers.
00:13:09.039 --> 00:13:13.759
Up to today, I know the surat by heart because it never leaves you somewhere in your back of your head.
00:13:13.759 --> 00:13:17.279
So I asked my teacher, Miss Muslim, I'm like, what am I saying?
00:13:17.279 --> 00:13:18.240
Why am I doing that?
00:13:18.240 --> 00:13:23.440
She said, Aisha, Muslim ladies and girls are doing, are doing what they're told.
00:13:23.440 --> 00:13:24.480
They don't ask questions.
00:13:24.480 --> 00:13:26.000
You're being defiant.
00:13:26.000 --> 00:13:29.279
So it was revelation then.
00:13:29.279 --> 00:13:33.039
And here I have freedom and I just put the Bible to test.
00:13:33.039 --> 00:13:36.639
If I do X, Y, and Z, I'm gonna get these results.
00:13:36.639 --> 00:13:38.720
It was tested and proven.
00:13:38.720 --> 00:13:42.480
And I've seen the manifestation, the tangible proof in my own life.
00:13:42.960 --> 00:13:55.600
Okay, so what you're saying is what you experienced is you experienced some actual spiritual results and a difference, and you saw a difference in yourself and not just a bunch of rules and religion.
00:13:55.600 --> 00:13:56.639
Yes.
00:13:56.639 --> 00:13:59.759
And that helped you to heal.
00:13:59.840 --> 00:14:01.200
How did that help you to heal?
00:14:01.200 --> 00:14:04.320
It helped me to heal on a deeper level.
00:14:04.320 --> 00:14:07.440
First, I accepted that there was nothing wrong with me.
00:14:07.440 --> 00:14:14.639
But back in 2020, the Lord took me through a 30-day fast by his grace and for his glory.
00:14:14.639 --> 00:14:22.159
And at the end of that fast, I was um, I was what is the word?
00:14:22.159 --> 00:14:27.759
I was uh ordered to go and ask for forgiveness to my offenders.
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:29.440
I'm like, why, Lord?
00:14:29.440 --> 00:14:33.919
I'm the one here who was mistreated and saying, no, this is nothing to do with you.
00:14:33.919 --> 00:14:37.440
We fight not against flesh and blood, but against principalities.
00:14:37.440 --> 00:14:41.600
So there's no loophole, there's no way the enemy can attack you.
00:14:41.600 --> 00:14:44.480
Because the Bibles tells you to respect your parents.
00:14:44.480 --> 00:14:45.600
Parent figure.
00:14:45.600 --> 00:14:54.080
Any anyone who is a parent figure in your life, you still have to respect and honor them for you to reach the fullness of all the blessings that he has in store for you.
00:14:54.080 --> 00:15:01.679
Again, through that fast, also, I was saw that my dad was held in bondage through witchcraft, and I could see clearly what was going on.
00:15:01.679 --> 00:15:16.960
Another dream that I got also, I was in a room without a window or a door, and uh, my childhood best friend, again from Libya, was telling me, get on this red mat, you're a Muslim, you will never be a Christian, come back.
00:15:16.960 --> 00:15:18.399
So the Lord opened my eye.
00:15:18.399 --> 00:15:25.679
What it looked like physically as asthma was spiritual bondage from my Muslim background holding me back.
00:15:25.919 --> 00:15:27.919
Oh, let's talk about that right now.
00:15:27.919 --> 00:15:33.840
So let's take a deeper dive because there are people whose details may be different than yours, but they can relate.
00:15:33.840 --> 00:15:38.159
Um, there's some Muslim people out there right now who can actually relate to a lot of what you're saying.
00:15:38.159 --> 00:15:43.759
So what you're saying, what there's a couple different things I'm hearing that I want to talk about.
00:15:43.759 --> 00:15:46.480
Number one, forgiveness.
00:15:46.480 --> 00:15:52.639
You you said it real quick, but it's not a minor detail.
00:15:52.639 --> 00:16:00.480
Forgiveness, and I'm saying this for the audience, not to you really, forgiveness is not about the jerk who hurt you.
00:16:00.480 --> 00:16:02.720
It's not about the person who did you wrong.
00:16:02.720 --> 00:16:09.919
Forgiveness is about releasing it for yourself so that you don't build ulcers and stress and other spiritual things within yourself.
00:16:09.919 --> 00:16:14.480
But the other thing is, people kept putting you in a box.
00:16:14.480 --> 00:16:19.440
You are Aisha, you are a Muslim, so you must do this.
00:16:19.440 --> 00:16:29.919
And many listeners right now, and it might not be about religion, it might be about something else, but they keep being put in a box because there's a label on them.
00:16:29.919 --> 00:16:32.080
I mean, you could say the same thing about me.
00:16:32.080 --> 00:16:35.440
My name is my name is one of the most famous Muslim names in the world.
00:16:35.440 --> 00:16:39.039
I'm a Christian now, but I have one of some people could do that.
00:16:39.039 --> 00:16:40.399
I don't let anybody put in a box.
00:16:40.399 --> 00:16:42.559
I'm real quick to let you know I'm climbing out.
00:16:42.559 --> 00:16:55.679
So, you know, but but uh, but there are there are young people out there right now, and even some adults listening right now, who people keep putting them inside a box saying, you have to be this because you're a label.
00:16:55.679 --> 00:17:04.960
You have to act this way because you're autistic, you must be this way because you're black, you must be this way because you're Muslim, you must be blah, blah, name a detail.
00:17:04.960 --> 00:17:09.039
And it's and you you have to fight past that.
00:17:09.039 --> 00:17:20.960
And what I'm hearing from you, Aisha, is that is a part of your journey, is your journey, your story as well, is you made a decision, not a feeling, but a decision that you weren't gonna let that hold you back.
00:17:20.960 --> 00:17:23.839
No, I don't belong in that box, and that's not where I'm sitting, right?
00:17:24.240 --> 00:17:24.880
Yes.
00:17:25.200 --> 00:17:28.960
And I think that is awesome and a really awesome message.
00:17:28.960 --> 00:17:38.880
Um, everybody's story is gonna be different on how they healed, and yours is different than anybody else I've had on here, mostly anyway.
00:17:38.880 --> 00:17:43.920
Um, and that is that the spiritual aspect combining with actual healing.
00:17:43.920 --> 00:17:47.359
And I want to point that out for a couple different reasons.
00:17:47.359 --> 00:17:55.759
A lot of times, as we're both Christians, so as Christians, a lot of times people say, Jesus is all you need, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
00:17:55.759 --> 00:18:06.960
And they don't deal with the actual healing part or dealing with the spiritual healing and the spiritual and the emotional healing because both of those work together.
00:18:06.960 --> 00:18:08.400
It's not one or the other.
00:18:08.400 --> 00:18:10.240
You really honestly need both.
00:18:10.240 --> 00:18:22.480
And I love the fact that you bring, um, that you're bringing together the fact that you need both, because there's too many people in in in religious settings who say, well, you you just need, you just need the religion.
00:18:22.480 --> 00:18:23.200
That's all you need.
00:18:23.200 --> 00:18:26.559
You just need Jesus, you just need Allah, you just need religion.
00:18:26.559 --> 00:18:27.839
No, you don't.
00:18:27.839 --> 00:18:30.880
You need actual spiritual healing and then the emotional healing.
00:18:30.880 --> 00:18:37.039
When they're coupled together, you now have a superpower person who can get on here and talk about this stuff without crying, like Aisha is right now.
00:18:37.039 --> 00:18:42.960
There's many of you listening right now who cannot talk about it without crying because you haven't arrived there yet.
00:18:42.960 --> 00:18:45.039
Now we both want to see you get there.
00:18:45.039 --> 00:18:55.759
But I just want to point that out because I I just, it's just so important to point out that there's it's never just one thing alone.
00:18:55.759 --> 00:18:57.440
You have to have both.
00:18:57.440 --> 00:19:03.039
You can't just say all you need is religion and never go see a therapist or get some kind of therapy.
00:19:03.039 --> 00:19:09.519
Therapy comes in many forms, but you you've got to deal with the emotional aspect or it will still eat away at you.
00:19:09.519 --> 00:19:15.839
Say, let's say, let's say, Aisha, let's say you just kept going to church and going to Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, but you never actually forgave.
00:19:15.839 --> 00:19:17.440
How do you think that would have affected you?
00:19:17.680 --> 00:19:25.680
Oh no, it's a poison I was dying slowly inside because when you hold on to resentment and forgiveness, people are living in your head of entry.
00:19:25.680 --> 00:19:28.640
They've moved on from their wicked ways to other people.
00:19:28.640 --> 00:19:32.319
They have new targets and you know, they're preying on new people.
00:19:32.319 --> 00:19:34.559
They don't even think about you anymore.
00:19:34.559 --> 00:19:38.559
Meanwhile, you're rotting inside, and that shows up as anger.
00:19:38.559 --> 00:19:41.759
When the Lord showed me that I had anger in me, I'm like, how could I, Lord?
00:19:41.759 --> 00:19:44.000
And he showed me that what my anger could do.
00:19:44.000 --> 00:19:48.880
And that brought me to my knees and to tears because I'm like, this is not who I am.
00:19:48.880 --> 00:19:51.920
But life had hardened my heart.
00:19:51.920 --> 00:19:53.359
And I made that decision.
00:19:53.359 --> 00:19:55.839
I refuse to be what I have been through.
00:19:55.839 --> 00:19:57.680
I refuse to be defined by that.
00:19:57.680 --> 00:20:14.240
And the Lord told me, Aisha, because again, the perfectionist, I was always putting up that perfect persona, perfect marriage until it ended in divorce, person, perfect mom wearing my six inch eels, and people, you know, the problem when you put yourself on the pedestal, people keep you there.
00:20:14.240 --> 00:20:16.880
People would tell me, uh, I get my hair done that often.
00:20:16.880 --> 00:20:17.759
I'm like, what?
00:20:17.759 --> 00:20:23.279
Well, we went from that to the hair being completely shopped off.
00:20:23.279 --> 00:20:26.400
So you have to really be naked with yourself.
00:20:26.400 --> 00:20:28.559
You don't have to do that for the word, with yourself.
00:20:28.559 --> 00:20:32.079
Sit down with yourself and ask yourself, why am I feeling this way?
00:20:32.079 --> 00:20:34.319
What is triggering me?
00:20:34.319 --> 00:20:39.119
Why does what they're saying mean so much to me?
00:20:40.240 --> 00:20:42.880
And those are questions that a healing person asks.
00:20:43.039 --> 00:20:43.519
Yes.
00:20:43.759 --> 00:20:45.920
And those are good, healthy questions.
00:20:45.920 --> 00:20:56.720
And healing doesn't take place in five minutes in in like a seminar or a ceremony or uh a session, right?
00:20:57.119 --> 00:20:57.759
Yes.
00:20:58.319 --> 00:21:00.000
Now, let me ask you this.
00:21:00.000 --> 00:21:07.440
Did you have anybody um that pastor handed you a Bible, but did you have other people around you that helped support your journey?
00:21:07.440 --> 00:21:16.960
Like, did you have people around you that um that helped to praise you when you're doing good, to help you feel good about yourself, to build your self-esteem and confidence?
00:21:17.279 --> 00:21:24.400
Yes, I would, the Lord would always send one or two men, two of his people, men or women of God, to confirm his word over my life.
00:21:24.400 --> 00:21:28.160
We'd be like, oh, you're on the bright path, you know, you are doing good.
00:21:28.160 --> 00:21:33.920
This is gonna bring fruit here and there, but there's not been anybody like consistently.
00:21:33.920 --> 00:21:38.799
My teacher is and will always remain the Holy Spirit, that nudging inside.
00:21:40.400 --> 00:21:47.519
So, what I'm hearing from that, and the reason I'm asking you that is for the young Ayas that are out there right now, who are where you were.
00:21:47.680 --> 00:21:47.920
Yes.
00:21:48.079 --> 00:21:51.359
And maybe they don't have people around them that they can confide in and trust.
00:21:51.359 --> 00:21:56.000
And what I like actually about your answer is that it wasn't just one person.
00:21:56.000 --> 00:21:57.759
And that's actually okay.
00:21:57.759 --> 00:21:59.680
Everybody's not gonna have the one person.
00:21:59.680 --> 00:22:02.000
That was consistently there their whole life.
00:22:02.000 --> 00:22:03.759
I mean, it's great if you can have that.
00:22:03.759 --> 00:22:06.799
But everybody's experience is not going to be like that.
00:22:06.799 --> 00:22:22.000
And the fact that you're able to heal and we can hear the healthier talking from you now, um, the fact that you're able to heal and you didn't have one consistent person that was your partner the whole time, that means that other people out there can do that too.
00:22:22.720 --> 00:22:23.440
You can do that too.
00:22:23.440 --> 00:22:25.119
So I put God to the test.
00:22:25.119 --> 00:22:31.759
When I went to that church where I was invited to, I heard somebody talking about an internship in my field of study.
00:22:31.759 --> 00:22:40.960
And I just said in my heart, you know, innocently, in my adolescent self, but I always believed, you know, before even before I was a Christian.
00:22:40.960 --> 00:22:48.400
I said, Lord, if you give me that internship, I will never stop serving you because I was working three jobs to put myself to college.
00:22:48.400 --> 00:22:54.079
And with the income of that internship, I was able to quit one job and only work two jobs.
00:22:54.079 --> 00:22:58.079
I'm like, Lord, if you make this happen, I will never ever stop serving you.
00:22:58.079 --> 00:23:02.160
I put him to the test early on in my faith, and that's when I found out I'm like, you know what?
00:23:02.160 --> 00:23:03.200
You're my friend.
00:23:03.200 --> 00:23:04.880
I'm gonna stick with you.
00:23:05.680 --> 00:23:06.480
You know what?
00:23:06.480 --> 00:23:08.319
I I gotta be honest with you.
00:23:08.319 --> 00:23:24.720
I have heard so many stories like that from people on this podcast, um, a few people on this podcast, actually, a few people in person, and a lot of famous people, quite a few famous people, who are just like, I made this promise to God, and then I got everything I'd asked for, and I'm still keeping my promise.
00:23:24.720 --> 00:23:27.200
I'm re-rewording all of it.
00:23:27.200 --> 00:23:29.839
But um, I absolutely love that.
00:23:29.839 --> 00:23:37.519
So, Aisha, what would you say to teens who feel like there's a problem, the problem child or the black sheep in their family, their own home?
00:23:37.519 --> 00:23:39.200
Everything we've been talking about.
00:23:39.200 --> 00:23:44.160
I want you to speak to the young Aishas who are where you were right now.
00:23:44.799 --> 00:23:53.039
You are so much uh you are you are so much worth what you're leaving behind because you cannot heal in the place that wounded you.
00:23:53.039 --> 00:23:58.000
You need this distance, whether it means emotional or physical, get away from that.
00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:05.519
You are not accepted, you are not valued because they have recognized something in you that you yourself might not recognize or acknowledge yet.
00:24:05.519 --> 00:24:10.960
For me, I have always had my gift of the prophetic, is the ability to see things past, present, or future.
00:24:10.960 --> 00:24:14.160
In dreams, I would see things, I would see things before they come to pass.
00:24:14.160 --> 00:24:19.359
And when I would bring that up to uh grown-ups, they would tell me, no, I don't think so.
00:24:19.359 --> 00:24:21.359
I think your mind is playing tricks on you.
00:24:21.359 --> 00:24:24.079
But behind my back, they would be like, How does she know these things?
00:24:24.079 --> 00:24:29.839
So I learned at the young age, make myself small, and kind of suffocated my gift.
00:24:29.839 --> 00:24:34.240
I kind of pushed my gift away because I'm like, no, I don't want to get in any more trouble, you know?
00:24:34.240 --> 00:24:36.559
But they see your light.
00:24:36.559 --> 00:24:42.880
You were born into that dark family, into that toxic family to be a beacon of light.
00:24:42.880 --> 00:24:52.559
Don't you stop shining because you are the one who's trusted to bring your whole lineage and bloodline out of darkness into his marvelous light.
00:24:53.680 --> 00:24:55.039
Girl, I love you.
00:24:55.039 --> 00:24:56.240
I'm just saying.
00:24:56.240 --> 00:25:04.400
So I you that I just I don't even have anything to put on top of what you just said.
00:25:04.400 --> 00:25:08.480
I just think it was so incredibly power powerful what you just said.
00:25:08.480 --> 00:25:11.519
Um, and uh, they do have value.
00:25:11.519 --> 00:25:18.400
And I would love to see every single one of them get to a point where they actually believe it for themselves.
00:25:18.400 --> 00:25:21.839
Not just us telling them that, but for them to believe it for themselves.
00:25:21.839 --> 00:25:26.160
But unfortunately, we can't just like reach into everybody's home and magically make that happen.
00:25:26.160 --> 00:25:27.920
I try, but it doesn't work.
00:25:27.920 --> 00:25:34.319
So we all have to go on our own journeys to arrive, you know, where you are.
00:25:34.319 --> 00:25:44.480
And I just want to reiterate to the audience, to those listening, and especially if we're talking about you, Aisha's story is her version of how she did it.
00:25:44.480 --> 00:25:50.720
You'll hear other people's story, and it might not be like yours, and that's okay, but listen to the principles behind everything that she's saying.
00:25:50.720 --> 00:25:53.279
If she can do it, so can you.
00:25:53.279 --> 00:25:57.920
And there are those of us out there who actually do care.
00:25:57.920 --> 00:26:07.519
We want to help you, and some of you don't let us, and some of you just need to reach out to us once you see that we're a person who honors our word and we care.
00:26:07.519 --> 00:26:09.839
I mean, those are the things you need to look for.
00:26:09.839 --> 00:26:13.359
And when you see that, uh you know, reach out to us.
00:26:13.359 --> 00:26:16.640
We're willing to help you, even if it's only for a season.
00:26:16.640 --> 00:26:19.200
I mean, listen to what Aisha just said.
00:26:19.200 --> 00:26:25.279
It's only she had different people in different seasons of her life, but that works for a lot of us.
00:26:25.279 --> 00:26:27.839
It doesn't have to be one consistent person.
00:26:27.839 --> 00:26:31.599
So there are different ways for all of us to heal.
00:26:31.599 --> 00:26:40.640
And I don't always talk about the spiritual aspect on here a lot because everybody's got different beliefs, but it's important.
00:26:40.640 --> 00:26:46.799
Even if you're not a Christian, spirituality is a major part of who you are as a human.
00:26:46.799 --> 00:26:48.480
I don't care who you are.
00:26:48.480 --> 00:26:51.519
And so ignoring things doesn't make them better.
00:26:51.519 --> 00:26:56.799
And you know, it's like if you want to bake a cake, you need several ingredients.
00:26:56.799 --> 00:26:59.599
You can't just put flour and water together and call it cake.
00:26:59.599 --> 00:27:01.599
It'll be dough, but it won't be cake.
00:27:01.599 --> 00:27:07.920
You're gonna need sugar, you're gonna need bacon powder, you're gonna need uh flavor, you're gonna need eggs, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
00:27:07.920 --> 00:27:17.680
And when we only do one part of our healing, we can't wonder why we don't get a cake.
00:27:17.680 --> 00:27:20.160
We didn't add all the ingredients yet.
00:27:20.160 --> 00:27:23.119
I'm off my soapbox because I'll go on.
00:27:24.079 --> 00:27:26.319
I would like to add something else, Fatima.
00:27:26.319 --> 00:27:27.680
You know, it's not about us.
00:27:27.680 --> 00:27:35.119
We go through these the law, uh, we go through these experiences so that we can teach and lead the way and make it easier for others.
00:27:35.119 --> 00:27:41.359
So you have to say yes to your healing because people are always watching you for good or for bad.
00:27:41.359 --> 00:27:42.799
And they'll be the first one.
00:27:42.799 --> 00:27:48.480
The nonsayers, the critics will be the first to say, Yes, I knew him, I knew her when she was back.
00:27:48.480 --> 00:27:54.960
And then so you you owe it to yourself and the people that you are called to reach.
00:27:56.720 --> 00:27:59.200
And we're not always excellent.
00:27:59.599 --> 00:28:02.799
Yeah, when we heal, we give others the permission to heal.
00:28:04.000 --> 00:28:05.519
Yes, yes, so true.
00:28:05.519 --> 00:28:10.799
When people watch us, they people watch us and they are encouraged.
00:28:10.799 --> 00:28:21.599
And here's the thing: they may not say a word to you, but they're watching you and they see that you're dealing with it, they see the hurt and pain that you're still fighting through, that you're still working through, and that you're trying.
00:28:21.599 --> 00:28:32.319
And you have no idea how much that might mean to somebody around you who is this quietly discouraged, but quietly encouraged by watching you overcome.
00:28:32.319 --> 00:28:35.039
That is that is an excellent point, Aisha.
00:28:35.039 --> 00:28:39.519
So, Aisha, tell people uh more about what you do and where they can find you.
00:28:40.160 --> 00:28:44.880
So you can find me on my website, AishaBerrycoaching.com.
00:28:44.880 --> 00:28:49.839
My book is 2020 Vision, the perfect with fruitful dry fast.
00:28:49.839 --> 00:28:52.079
It's about the fast the Lord took me over to.
00:28:52.079 --> 00:28:56.160
And out of this fast, uh, the gift of healing was bestowed upon me.
00:28:56.160 --> 00:29:01.200
I would pray for people virtually and in person, and they will receive healing right away.
00:29:01.200 --> 00:29:11.440
So now I help born-again Christians just reconnect with God and find their true identity so they can let go of the lies and live in purpose.
00:29:11.839 --> 00:29:12.480
I love it.
00:29:12.480 --> 00:29:18.480
So her information will be in the um description in the show notes, and all of you can find her there.
00:29:18.480 --> 00:29:21.279
Well, Aisha, thank you so so much for coming on.
00:29:21.279 --> 00:29:23.759
I really enjoy talking to you on and off air.
00:29:23.759 --> 00:29:24.559
Thank you.
00:29:24.559 --> 00:29:25.759
Thank you.
00:29:25.759 --> 00:29:30.960
And now for a mind-shifting moment.
00:29:30.960 --> 00:29:37.200
I want you to take a moment and ask yourself some questions.
00:29:37.200 --> 00:29:42.960
What is the narrative that you believe about yourself?
00:29:42.960 --> 00:29:45.680
Were you different growing up?
00:29:45.680 --> 00:29:48.079
Are you different now?
00:29:48.079 --> 00:29:51.839
You think there's something wrong with you or you're weird?
00:29:51.839 --> 00:29:58.160
Chances are there's a lot right with you that someone else just didn't get.
00:29:58.160 --> 00:30:10.720
I want you to take a moment and I want you to question the narrative that you have about yourself, meaning what you believe about yourself, how you see yourself.
00:30:10.720 --> 00:30:16.240
And for those listening who feel unworthy, it came from somewhere.
00:30:16.240 --> 00:30:26.960
You were not born unworthy, but somewhere along the way, you were made to feel that way, and eventually you believed it.
00:30:26.960 --> 00:30:32.400
So, what I want you to do is to question why do I believe that?
00:30:32.400 --> 00:30:34.960
Where did that come from?
00:30:34.960 --> 00:31:01.680
Because once you begin to answer that question, you can begin the journey of changing your narrative, changing how you see yourself, and dispensing or dismantling, dissolving, breaking apart the lies that you have been repeatedly told over and over again.
00:31:01.680 --> 00:31:09.200
Maybe you're not weird, maybe you're gifted, and those around you didn't recognize your gift.
00:31:09.200 --> 00:31:12.640
Maybe there's nothing wrong with you.
00:31:12.640 --> 00:31:14.960
Maybe there's something wrong with them.
00:31:14.960 --> 00:31:18.720
I really want you to think about it.
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:31.359
