Speaker 1: What is up?
00:00:10
Speaker 2: Mets fans? Welcome back to another episode of the Mets Stuff Podcast. We got a series win. As bad as it felt, feels a little bit better. Granted, Sunday's game frustrating, not great, but the first two games of the series down in Atlanta went shockingly well for the Mets. They took care of business, beat down the horrible, horrible, horrible Atlanta Braves. You know, the Braves only have two more wins than the Pittsburgh Pirates right now.
00:00:32
Speaker 3: Wow?
00:00:33
Speaker 2: And that alway, with winning today, the.
00:00:35
Speaker 3: Pirates are one hundred and twenty win team.
00:00:36
Speaker 2: I don't so that is true against five hundred teams since July. They've been unbelievable. But the Mets are playing a little bit better. Mark Fiento swinging the batrep baties, good baseball player. Francisco Indoors says hot. We're gonna talk about everything as well as Sunday's game in this episode. First off, how we feeling nice weekend? Beautiful weather out in the city this weekend? Perfect weather in the city, literally that perfect weather. You go outside like t shirt, jeans, You're like, oh, I don't feel anything, don't feel a thing. But this was this was like a tantalizing series by the Mets because you felt so good, you had a chance for a sweep, sweep, you really establish momentum. We just like barely can't twist it in, Like I don't want to be like kind of like beggars can't be choosers with well, how this team has played mostly so I'm not going to like to fame seeries win over an Atlanta team that is horrible and I don't like going to that ballpark no matter what. And they basically threw three minor league pitchers against us. But still just like having that win slip away from me on Sunday does lead like a teeny tiny bit of a bad taste in my mouth from the series. Yeah. No, I've seen a lot of people on Twitter blaming Mendoza a lot for this one. I think we probably get a little bit too happy trying to blame and point figures at it. Like sometimes a team like doesn't win a game even if you pitch well, which relatively the Mets did. You gave up four runs in the game. They just didn't score enough, a little bit of like the typical cat Braves just played better today. I don't think it's really as much on Mendoz as people are really trying to make it sound like it is.
00:02:12
Speaker 4: No but for the Devil's advocate with that, and like this has been also a situation where I don't know if there is a right answer. But when Peterson starts to fall apart in that sixth ending and fall apart is loose. It was two walks in two bloops, so like you know, if anything happens a little different like that Sean Murphy single was no, that was the one I was thinking of, the one the Greg Michael Harrin, but it was the one. The eighth inning one was like right in front of Cedric Mullins, like yeah, literally one literally one step slow on that. You don't know if you want to dive and let all the run score. But Devils go back to the sixth inning. It's just that in that not Chualvaz at bat like, you throw four straight balls in not Choualvarez, including his two lowest philosophy fast balls of the game.
00:02:47
Speaker 3: I get it. But also at that point, Brooks Railey was the guy who.
00:02:50
Speaker 4: Had gotten up in the bullpen, and I don't think I just don't think you're bringing Brooks Railey into face Sean Murphy in that situation.
00:02:55
Speaker 3: So that was that.
00:02:55
Speaker 4: And again he to that point in the game, David Peterson was amazing. This was one of the highest swinging miss game's entire career. Of twenty whiffs, I'll get I'll get staff here right now. How many times actually done next? I don't think as many times. But the Mets bats did have plenty of chances to find an extra couple of runs here and there.
00:03:10
Speaker 3: And it just didn't happen. That's kind of that's that's the story of the game.
00:03:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, Alonso, I know he had a good night on Saturday, but he still has been I feel like a little bit cold at the plate and zero for five when Soto and Lindor were getting on base a lot, and today, especially with Soto two walks and to hit. Lindor got on base twice. It is a little bit frustrating to see that, but again, this is the ebbs and flows of the season. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody in this one, Like, you know, you know what the pointing fingers is. You scored two runs against Bryce Elder. Again, I don't know how we can't hit this guy. He is horrible.
00:03:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, that is the problem. That's like, that's the one thing to look for.
00:03:42
Speaker 4: And again, there were chances, like there's guys on base most every inning, Fiano's hit that nice home run, third, that bat in a row at the time, with a home run in the second, So it just felt like you could have kind of let the floodgates open. And again they just didn't like And also it's not like the opportunities were great, like Elder did settle in really nicely.
00:03:58
Speaker 3: Baby put that ball to the running track.
00:04:00
Speaker 4: That was about the eighth inning, and then Nemo did one to begin the ninth inning.
00:04:04
Speaker 3: Two for I se glace.
00:04:05
Speaker 4: I think there were little moments here and there we felt like something could have happened. Also, I think so that was I sing still thinking the baby went to the one track in the eighth, but you just you had these kind of small opportunities and need the big hit here and need the big hit there.
00:04:17
Speaker 3: It just didn't come.
00:04:18
Speaker 2: No, Sometimes that happens. Yeah, I think that you know, to overblow this loss with how well things went earlier in the series, will be a little frustrated. I guess the only topic of conversation left from this game, in my opinion, is going to be how we keep going Cedric Mullins in centerfield, Tyrone Taylor and left when we're talking about defensive alignment, which is interesting because we know centerfield is more important defensively, Tyrone is a better defensive center fielder than Cedric Malins. Is not because Moullins is bad. Tyrone is that good out there. I wonder what the reasoning is. I believe Cedric Mallins hasn't played a lot of left field, so maybe that's the case, is that Tyrone can still be plus and left field in Cedric Mollens plus and center, where if you move him to left he might go down a bit. Cedric, But it did hurt at the end of the game when this was like a conversation that has been had all weekend and you hear Gary with how close Cedric Mallins was to that baseball being like, it's interesting that they keep going with this alignment.
00:05:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, especially when the day before there was it wasn't like a moment on the razor's edge. But I think the way the game ended Saturday is very easy to forget how close it was early where Cedric Mallins may I mean, where Tyrone Taylor makes that diving catch Cli Holmes to get through the sixth I thing, that was an amazing play. And this is probably something where our analysis lacked a little bit where I still believe. I know that Cedric Mallins is a good centerfield defender, and we've cited his OAA a lot of times, being like he's a plus defender there, he's a plus devender there, but OA doesn't segment for centerfield is a segment for all outfielders. In terms of all centerfielders, Cedric Mallins is towards the bottom with just a plus two OAA, where Tyrone Taylor is closer to the top middle, top of the middle with his I think plus six or plus evidence. So I do think that is something that we didn't say. But also if he's just not comfortable.
00:05:50
Speaker 3: In the corner. I don't know, that's it, like you opt for the player there.
00:05:52
Speaker 4: And also I don't know if that ball was like the most catchball ball in Earth, like that sinking line drive, like that low, slow, sinking line drive in front of you at the center.
00:06:00
Speaker 3: That's a very very.
00:06:00
Speaker 4: Difficult play And that's just just just kind of how it goes. And again, like I to leave Pearson in that game while the ending did spin out quickly.
00:06:08
Speaker 3: You talked about this before he started recording. Who could who's the six ending guy right now?
00:06:12
Speaker 2: And if you're gonna just go to another lefty, like this is something that used to make fun of Don Mattingly for so much when he used to take out Clayton Kershaw and then bring in another lefty. And I'm like, Clint Kershaw is the best lefty you have on this on your roster. David Peterson is the best lefty on this roster, Like he is the best pitcher who throws from left hand side. So for me, like if you were gonna go to Brooks Raley and you pulled Peterson to go Railey, unless unless Peterson really was like just getting shout like he was against the Braves at home last week, like that was a time where like the wheels were coming off. But for Peterson it felt like he wasn't as sharp. But to have gone to Railey been crazy. I don't know. Would you have wanted to see Brasemont, You want to see Stanic, you want to see Helsy, Like you can't really trust these guys right now?
00:06:52
Speaker 4: No, And again like this was to this was one of the first five innings at least when the best, one of the best pitch games David Peterson's career.
00:06:59
Speaker 3: I think it's another thing we lack right now.
00:07:01
Speaker 4: I don't think we give Dave Pisi enough credit for how consistent and how amazing he's been just all season this team. This was the most swings and misses he got and any start this year, with twenty, third time his entire career he's gotten twenty swings and misses in the game. The first one was all the way back in twenty twenty, that end of the season start against the Braves or which was the first time we were like, oh, this guy actually might have some stuff here. And then then last year that game against the Red Sox September when he just dice them up. I think we were in city fields for that one, Like, that's that's how good he was. Ten swings and misses on the slider alone, it was just you feel him losing the zone. But then the other side is the bottom of the order. It's like, I don't hate the fact that and those like hey get through this sixth inning because I don't know who was coming in that I thought was going to be better. And again he didn't get burned by hard contact.
00:07:41
Speaker 3: There was no home run.
00:07:42
Speaker 4: There wasn't like a line drive in the gap. It was literally two walks and two bloops. Sometimes two walks and two bloops is just all you need. But like let that to let two walks and two bloops happen to hits in this lineup five through nine, like tips the cab.
00:07:54
Speaker 2: Okay, So then let's let's bring it back now to the positive stuff, because that was about five minutes of the bad game. We don't need to focus on that one too much. It sucked, but overall, this was a good weekend for the Mets. They smoked the Braves the first two games. Got a little bit closer in Game one than it should have, but uh, is Mark Fiento's back.
00:08:12
Speaker 4: I thought you were gonna go straight for Nolan mcain. I can't believe you have mentioned nol mcain yet, right man.
00:08:16
Speaker 2: Because he's gonna get his own just like full section section where it's just like, let us glaze Nolan McLean and all his prowess, because this dude is a fucking beast, all right.
00:08:25
Speaker 4: So Fiento specifically, it was the home run on Saturday where I was like, oh, maybe he is back. I remember if I'm double checking right now, if it was the seventh inning home run or if it was a ninth inning home run. Okay, was the seventh th inning home run off with Dylan.
00:08:38
Speaker 2: Lee, which was just it's great to watch Dylan Lee just completely shit himself down there.
00:08:42
Speaker 3: It's just three home runs and five batters.
00:08:43
Speaker 4: Ever, that w end up as Mark Fiento's had that home run seventy seven a half miles an hour bat speed in that swing, the twentieth fastest swing he's had the entire season, second fastest on a home run. One of the other fastest home runs also happened in the month of Aucus. So the fact that he is pulling the ball more often, lifting the ball swing harder like those to me are all things where I'm like, now I feel certain way about Mark Fianto's.
00:09:03
Speaker 2: Again, Yeah, there's there's a confidence there. And when we spoke to Daniel Murphy on the podcast, we talked about Ventos and he mentioned how Viento's needs to kill left handed pitching, and right now he is doing that. I mean, he's hitting everybody really well, but to get there, he's punishing left handed hitting. And that's truly where for the roster flexibility right now, especially with Ronnie hitting a bit of a skid like Viento's coming into his own a little bit, starting to show us a little bit of that twenty twenty four version of himself is absolutely massive. And if soligmore taking play left field like he did in this game on Saturday as well, make it a great play throwing an absolute seed to home, you can d h Viento's then and you don't have to worry about the defensive liability.
00:09:41
Speaker 3: Maybe this is a weird thing that's happened with this Mets team.
00:09:43
Speaker 4: I was talking about this for Buddy Ernie and Saturday Night, where a lot of these guys besides Pete Lindor, so though haven't played the whole year, it's not really the same level of fatigue I think for Mets scenes in the past or a lot of teams the past where it's like we played the same guys all the time, you know what I mean, Like there's relatively fresher lefs on with guys like Viano's Baby Marte, Mauricio McNeil, Nat Nimls dined up right now on when there was going to happen with him with the il, but he deputly like a swing in the ball on Sundays, Like there is something where this is kind of a great way to build your team where it's a lot of veterans mixed in with a lot of the young players where you can kind of get these contributions late in the season when things at times like they've been for the last few months are going south. Someone can kind of just grab you out of the doldrums you might not have expected. And this series, partially that was Mark Ventos as well as Brett Baby, who those two are just becoming a tantem now leaving Bridi Riso in the dust a little bit. But I think that again in two weeks this might change again. Like, that's kind of the that's the whole beauty of this.
00:10:36
Speaker 2: That's why you like having a deep bench, why you like having versatile players. This is why we like having guys like this on this roster rather than filling it with a bunch of old scrubs like they have in the past, because they have the ability to actually make an impact. As much as I've screamed and yelled about Mark Vientos all year, we've seen the impact he can make. We've just been waiting for it to happen. And hopefully this is kind of the little push that he's needed. The little joelt to remember and kind of like scared straight wake up, like, ah, I am good at baseball. I can be good. I did it last year for basically a full season. Why not again and again?
00:11:09
Speaker 4: Trying to find these little piece of signal in the improved play, like seeing the bat speed take up a little bit. Also because in the same game the night I think home run seventy mile an hour swing. I don't know how Mark Fianto's gets so much lost and power whilst winging so slowly, and obviously it does not make sense. I would love to truthly ask him that because the shocking is just even the home run hit against Pricelte that not even considered a fast wings which is seventy five miles proud that was seventy four and a half. But he's crushing these balls, He's getting a lift on them. They got the big back spin. Like there's are home runs and thirty at thirty parks most well, like they're being crushed.
00:11:37
Speaker 2: Remember when we watched them take VP when we work with the team, like he does have easy power, where like he doesn't exert a lot of effort and force. It looks like at the plate and then all of a sudden the ball jumps off of it. Now, of course we know swing speed does determine how hard you can hit a baseball, the max possible velocity that you can hit it, and you want to hit the ball harder than you do softer. But for Viento's if being close to that hard swing speed, because this it's been closer like that seventy two to seventy three range, But if he's hovering closer to that fast swing, and that's what's causing power. Now, Like again I don't care about the strikeouts. If you have this home run ability that we've.
00:12:10
Speaker 4: Seen and much more simply, like you said before, we talked to Murph about you just gotta be the guy that crushes lefties. Yes, Like you're going to see tough lefties all the time. We're gonna seemultiple We're gonna se at least one tough lefty this week with Philip, with Phillies coming in to towns. Like, you have to be a good I remember're gonna miss range Swarez, which is nice, but you just have to be able to do that if you are more or less a one dimensional player. Also thought it was interesting that he got the first base start yes on Sunday weird And maybe that's the thing with Pete two. I know we've talked about that with him in the past, where he's kind of vocalized that he doesn't think he hits as well when he's not like in the game and five, and you felt that with his approach in the game on Sunday where he specifically left a lot of guys on basic. We had tons of metshim begains right sell Glaciers that night that with the back with the with the three hits in a row by Mullins, Lindor and so though, and just that very bad, bad pop up and the pop up by McNeil as well, and then McNeil gets the rep at first base right after that two, which I thought was funny, just it was a it's this is still the same thing where it's like we just for some reason can't cut all four of these guys hat the same time, or at least three of them, not even including Nimo on that. So it's just like something something's got to go, Like they're close because this watching the first two games this series is kind of that realization of like, yeah, the pitching was great, but this team will only go as far as the lineup takes it. Of course, at the end of the day, like if this and this lineup still has a chance to get so scalding hot that they can run through teams, like that's how good it can be.
00:13:25
Speaker 2: Right now, you're looking on a lineup when fully healthy. Right, let's just talk through it real quick. Lindor's got an ops right around eight hundred again, because he's been awesome ever since we talked about how terrible he's been. Wan Soto's one of the most valuable hitters in baseball. Whether you Mets fans want to believe it or not, the statistics tell us he is ops right around nine hundred, Pete Alonzo eight fifty ops, McNeil eight hundred ops, Starling Marte eight hundred ops. And then you're looking at the bottom third of the order. Now, Nimo, when he's healthy, he's gonna be around seven fifty to eight hundred. And then you're talking about like the last three two three guys in this lineup, and that could be a combination of baby baby that could be Cedric Mully. Like, obviously the catcher position is a bit of a hole. Even though Torrent swung the bat really well today, which was good to see Sangreswang good the other two days. Yes, like this is a competent lineup when things are going right. It's just we know that the potential is there. It's nice to see McNeil swinging the bat so well. He's also been so awesome. I think. Remember, remember people wanted to write this guy off. Even like a month ago, people still were ready to write him off. We should train him at the deadline, like he's an incredibly valuable player to this team.
00:14:26

00:15:26
Speaker 3: Definitely I was pissed about that.
00:15:27
Speaker 4: How that bat went to end the game on something like the ways he pop up swinging on a pitch like right there. There was also like again little micro moments from these games talk about when so they'll let the three to zero pitch go by in the seventh I was like, damn, oh, she was just want with that one, you know what I mean, Like that's a situation where it's like I know it's okay to pass pass it on from one.
00:15:46
Speaker 3: So the plans it was a great problem to have. But in that moment, I was.
00:15:48
Speaker 2: Like, well, you know what's funny. Damage is when if Wansola swings to that three to zero pitch doesn't hit a home run, people go, he's selfish. Plans is coming up next.
00:15:56
Speaker 3: It's true.
00:15:56
Speaker 2: And then if he does swing it or doesn't swing it, you're like, ah, man, that was a really good pitch for him to hit. I wish you would swing like it's it's a catch twenty two. It's kind of everything in baseball. It's catch twenty two in a way. But it's all just like, yeah, I don't disagree with you. Even if he made out, I would be like a good time to swing, like you're here the draft and you wouldn't do that for sure. And again with whatever the other people saying this and that's not a big deal at all, but it's just there's there's still these and again where might we're just magnifying all these things.
00:16:19
Speaker 6: You lose.
00:16:20
Speaker 3: Once you lose, you lose.
00:16:21
Speaker 4: You lose this game by one run, Like that's kind of the annoying part of about it.
00:16:24
Speaker 3: But just we talk about Nolan McLain.
00:16:26
Speaker 2: Now one more real quick, Okay, Clay Holmes, why you want to talk about everything before we could talk about Pele. Nolan McClain's coming. He's coming. He gotta you gotta tease the people. This is just a we're gonna we're gonna talk about But Clay Holmes look great. Clay Holmes was awesome great. I mean this is the preemit to Clay Holmes podcast.
00:16:42
Speaker 4: And Clay Holmes has been like the most underappreciated player in this Mets team all season.
00:16:47
Speaker 3: He's kind of Jeffing Neil the rotation right now.
00:16:50
Speaker 2: Three six R eleven wins on the season Wins podcast. For this scenario also.
00:16:54
Speaker 4: Got to the seventh inning, like he literally caught the Nolan McLain contagion. Where he's like, oh, I guess I can do this too, But like we're looking at one hundred and forty with three six ERA and you're like, yes, like that is awesome, Like that has been so viable what this team's done. He's taking the ball every five or six days and ever he's been there, like there's been no hiccups, no nothing, it's just he's been like he's been like the Walmart version of David Peterson in.
00:17:14
Speaker 3: A way, I've gotten perfect.
00:17:16
Speaker 2: I've got your segue to Noel McLean Okay, I'm leaning you in. He got like ten seconds. It is funny how Noel McClain broke the record for the going into the sixth edning completing six innings from David Peterson. Clay Holmes the next day does it. The guy who then breaks the shriek of six plus innings is David Peterson. And also it was like really really really close to just getting through that. But Holmes also like, I like when this version of Holmes that we've seen over the last few weeks, especially where he's like I'm just gonna throw much sinkers, He's like, I don't care, just.
00:17:42
Speaker 3: Hit the ball to the ground. Like I'm not even I'm not even.
00:17:43
Speaker 4: Here the guest wings and misses anymore. It's just please as many ground ball as you can. I have this grundball number right here. He's got to find real quick for how many holmes.
00:17:50
Speaker 2: Got start pounding.
00:17:51
Speaker 4: It was an that was only about half. It was only nine, nine out of eighteen. Oh that's still was a lot though, Oh still a ton. But still it's funny for a guy like that, Like it's just he was there was only like two or three balls that were put in play where I was like, oh, something could actually happen on these. It was just like he was so on top of his game, keeping it low below the belt and just like let this team hung around again, like the way the final score wound up, he would think it was a blow This was not a blowout.
00:18:13
Speaker 2: We did not.
00:18:13
Speaker 4: This was one run game throughout, Like we had a lead. They kind of came back. Starling Wright said a great thrown, Tyrone tailed, a great catch and baty another fantastic game at the third good ball player. I have a few libations on Saturday, and I let out a tweet where I made a bowl claim that Brett Baby will have a five, a five win season in his career, and I stand by that right now.
00:18:31
Speaker 2: It's gonna be really hard.
00:18:33
Speaker 3: He's gonna he's gonna get three this year. He's gonna play like a hundred games.
00:18:36
Speaker 2: I know it's hard. It's just hard.
00:18:38
Speaker 4: No, I'm saying, yeah, man, I think he could do that if he If he would have actually hit that home run in the seventh inning or the eighth inning on Sunday, I would have been I would have been chiseling the plaque for the first down.
00:18:47
Speaker 2: I turn around, Brett baby needed.
00:18:49
Speaker 4: We're working on an eighty games eighty three games now from Brett Baty since he called back up, so not even including the Wheeler home run, like the good week he had before he got sent down.
00:18:57
Speaker 2: McNeil came back. It's a thirty home or ten steel pace with eight hundred ops and playing good defense at third end second base. It's like, that is such a good baseball player Mike Mustakas.
00:19:06
Speaker 3: It's literally it's better than Mustaka's. Like it's so annoying.
00:19:09
Speaker 4: I mean, that's it's so amazing, like that we've like stuck through bred Bay and now he's become a baseball player that like could really ease everything for this team going into just the future knowing you have this guy who can do all these different things really well.
00:19:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and we want to talk about the future. Noel mclayan, is that fucking that he's that guy.
00:19:26
Speaker 3: Talk about the fucking president. Baby, No Nol McLain.
00:19:28
Speaker 4: That was sick to do that on national television with his whole family there, just because he's from the North Carolina area. Like that was sick, especially while we had half the broadcast ruins, just because dude Tom Glavin and Greg had had to spew nonsense. I had to hear John Smallt's talk shit about the state of baseball while we're rallying.
00:19:44
Speaker 2: I gotta I got a question. How many times are the Braves gonna trot those three out? It's I feel like three or four times a year these guys throughout the first pitch, they get honored three or four times a year. It's insane.
00:19:55
Speaker 4: They honored the World Series team before that game on Friday, So McClain was pitching in front of a lither will sell out packed house like there was there was that place was loud on television again, so annoying. I get I like Maddix, Maddox is, this is good, Maddox is great, but when once you get smalten, they're just talking about much he hates baseball and gets the other guys who agree with him, but basically how all the players who are playing.
00:20:15
Speaker 2: Are like not near.
00:20:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't throw seven innings like we did. Huh you know the innings actually on like off the next day. It's like it's just so annoyed to him to do that.
00:20:23
Speaker 2: But almost fired off a tweet and being like, there's nothing more than like old heads in baseball love to do then like tear down the game that they love. Be like the guys we're playing right now never could have hung in my time. They can't this. This game is terrible. You shouldn't even watch this anymore.
00:20:38
Speaker 4: There was a tweet that was going viral about how like we've wrongly recalibrated radar goal.
00:20:44
Speaker 2: That was the tweet that I saw that made me think to put out that tweet where I was like the weird narrative that again, like that group of baseball people have, I mean, shout out pitching Ninja for replying to him and be like this is incredibly misleading and also incorrect, like this stuff is so stupid.
00:21:00
Speaker 4: Mike Petrella had a similar retort to it, where he basically was like, so you're gonna tell me that in every single sport we're seeing players stronger, faster, bigger, But for some reason, baseball it's the only sport where the guys are not throwing harder.
00:21:11
Speaker 3: How could that? How could that be possible?
00:21:13
Speaker 4: I guess so just that was a little quick media marvel inside of inside of the Nolan McLain recap, but he was sick. Something so cool that he did in this game was that he did it totally differently in that first start, and we got that great SoundBite for you guys. You put it in the last episode, right the locker room thing.
00:21:28
Speaker 2: Oh definitely forgot to put it in.
00:21:30
Speaker 3: You forgot to put it in.
00:21:30
Speaker 2: Put it in, put it in now. I'll put it right now.
00:21:33
Speaker 3: I can't forgot to put it in there.
00:21:34
Speaker 2: Oh I definitely forgot.
00:21:35
Speaker 3: Now you remind you, super forgot painful? All right? Shot out?
00:21:38
Speaker 4: I got Tim NBC from the NATS Chat podcast. He asked about why Nolan McLain and you guys just heard it right now.
00:21:45
Speaker 2: No, it's your cur much more.
00:21:46
Speaker 3: The other guys than a triple A. What made you comfortable, which.
00:21:49
Speaker 7: Is, uh, yeah, I think I mean one of the game was just calling for it at the time. I didn't have a tremendous feel of my sweeper the other day, especially the left handers, so I had to make an adjustment and it ended up being the curveball, especially with two strikes. It's been something I started throwing a lot more in Triple A later in the year. I'm sure the percentages were still lower than most of my pitches, but uh, there's definitely something that I probably about halfway through and Triple A I started started mixing in a lot more two strikes, just something to get into the dirt and change eye levels a little bit.
00:22:21
Speaker 2: What's the biggest thing you're working on ahead of the next step.
00:22:24
Speaker 7: Just staying ahead, making sure my sweeper is getting to the glove side a little bit better and not leaving at arms side with those lazy style misses of just kind of coming out of my hand weird and being uncompetitive. I want all my misses to be competitive and standing in the zone as long as possible.
00:22:39
Speaker 4: He asked about why Nolan mclan going to that curve ball, and was cool to hear him say the game called for it were this game against the Braves, like we talked to you guys about in the series preview, much more righty heavy.
00:22:48
Speaker 3: Lined up much less platoons.
00:22:49
Speaker 4: With that, he was able to go to the sweeper and the sinker, the two pitches that are his bread and butter, and use those pitches kind of torment these guys and not be hunting for these strikeouts and hunting for these wists, getting tons of ground balls, forcing tons of weak contact, and completing seven innings for the first met not named David Peterson since April thirteenth.
00:23:09
Speaker 2: It's fun to watch him throw. He attack hitters, which is really nice. He's got good control, good command, which is something that he did initially struggle with in the miners, especially at TRIPLEA. Early on, that walker was pretty high, but like you said, because there were so many Writti's in there, he could use his bread and butter pitches with that sinker and that sweeper and really just make these Braves hitters look foolish. And that sinker again, I don't know what it is, but it looks like it moves differently than everyone else's sinker. It's got crazy. I feel like it goes up to go down. I don't know why. That's a visual thing. I'm sure yeah, I don't know why too. I'll check, I'll check the moving profile on it right now specifically. But like this was, he also got to a point in this game where he was starting to do some like real ballsy things with these his pitches. Like right when the lineup went around for a third time, he picked off his strike on a front hip sinker to Jerkes's profile. And we say a front hip sinker is that when the pitcher like Noel mclaim's right, his sinker's going to move to his arm side. You aim that sinker at the left handed batter's hip and it goes back and knocks off and just nips that low and inside corner.
00:24:06
Speaker 3: Michael Bartolo Cologne fastball.
00:24:08
Speaker 4: Yes, Michael King does this really will well, really really well right now too. But the fact that he had again the bass do that, and then the way he saw it off Ronald Cooney Junior later inning through a ninety seven mile power fastball.
00:24:18
Speaker 3: I remember that.
00:24:19
Speaker 2: I think that was the sixth or the seventh inning when he did that, I was just like oh Man, and he made Matt Olson, one of the best lessons at batist in baseball look stupid. That pitch was many occasions, that pitch that basically over yeah, hit his back foot. That was like one of the nastiest pitchers I've ever seen. It was, It's ferocious, and he struck him out three times. This is one of literally one of the best left handed batteris is in the league. Maddlson's supposed to have the advantage against them.
00:24:45
Speaker 4: This is McLean's weakness and that's Matt Olson's strength, and he still made him look.
00:24:49
Speaker 3: Dumb every single time.
00:24:50
Speaker 4: Like I remember those early career at bass for even David Peterson, a lefty against Matt Olson, how often that bad ales used to get the better of him on like a two strike change up his third time around. But it's just that even this game too, with the sin Christ and the sweepers being prominent, working low in the zone a lot, thirteen of the seventeen balls the Braves put in play were on the ground.
00:25:09
Speaker 2: You can't you can't lose like that. You're getting thirteen ground balls and seven strikeouts, Like seven innings is like the minimum you can do.
00:25:16
Speaker 4: Like it was he was so in control. He's so poised. He pitches with big, huge, gigantic balls. Being supported by twenty one hits helps a lot. The fact that we had four runs by the fourth every by the fourth inning of this game, all.
00:25:29
Speaker 3: Nine players in the Mess lineup had a hit.
00:25:30
Speaker 1: Sick.
00:25:31
Speaker 4: Could you imagine that shit? But like the fact that he was able, that's it. If I found a way we brought we brought the nose up. That's one of the best risk teams in baseball. For the last two months, we've got that. That was moving around a lot because I may, but it's just he He's making these guys. It's like this is a birth of something special. Like watching him pitch, Like I don't want to put too much on his shoulders, but I literally can't wait till he pitches again.
00:25:49
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, of course I'm not gonna say anything insane, but like, uh, definitely frustrated again, though happy frustrated, super happy frustrated because he is I mean, met to make the playoffs. He's what game two starter.
00:26:01
Speaker 4: Maybe if you thought about twenty thirty three, we got the ext year at the moment. I mean, also, if he does win the Rookie of the Year next year and we get that draft pick, we'll be like, yeah, but.
00:26:10
Speaker 2: We did it. But we also like might have Jodah Toong who's also competing for that next year, and then also Carson Benjer. I mean maybe this was the whole plan. Is we're gonna take over the top three of the Rookie of the Year voting and guarantee that we get an extra pick.
00:26:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the whole plan.
00:26:22
Speaker 4: It's just it's it's so cool to watch Nolan McLain do this again. A little bit of frustration because why I wasn't in the frontation like two months ago, but also at the same time, like it's it's nice to be watching this in real time and like really seeing the proof and the putting that everything that we've been talking about for the last few years and everything that we know as Mets team is trying to build under the surface seems to be working in a really resounding way with at least the first breakthrough possible star from it.
00:26:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just awesome and really really fun to watch. It's a very comfortable, relaxing watch seeing Nolan McLain out there, which is pretty pretty impossible for most pictures to be second starting to their career. He's, of course he's gonna have a bad eventually. It will happen, just like Rowski, just like Falte, and just like everybody. But the two starts that we've seen from thus far have been truly astounding to watch. That's the word we'll use.
00:27:11
Speaker 4: And like, if you would have came out done the exact same thing he did against the Mariner's been like, I'm gonna just breaking all these guys death and pitch really well, I would have been like, yes, this is awesome. But seeing that level of pitch ability from a young guy like this who is not ever he's still has not been a full time pitcher for when this is first year being a full time pittuer for the entire year?
00:27:29
Speaker 3: Is it? He was hitting last season in like May, this is it?
00:27:33
Speaker 4: And he the fact that even like he went out with his fast ball, He's like, yeah, I'm just gonna start blowing fastballs by guys because I don't think they're expecting it, which is also so cool you again listening back to that quote him being like this what the game called for, the fact that you can be a different picture inside of everyone repertoire successfully at this point two starts into your career with that kind of poise, like that's something that takes you a long way. It's got to feel good for too, for Jeremy Haffner, where it's like, we have a game plan and we can execute this game plan.
00:27:55
Speaker 2: How nice is this?
00:27:57
Speaker 3: And and then well again it was really nice.
00:27:59
Speaker 4: For a long time, we thought were gonna be able to walk through this game and wind up being like the easiest win of the season, because again, we were winning this game when Nolan McLain left before no, well until anyone besides Nolan McLain threw a pitch.
00:28:10
Speaker 2: We were winning this game twelve to two. Yes, yeah, we had twenty hits.
00:28:15
Speaker 4: And then the side of these twins of what's going wrong right now in this Mets bullpen read Garrett and Ryan Helsley come in and make this so much sweathereer that ever had to be, so much more nerve wracking and tiresome this game ever should have been.
00:28:27
Speaker 3: And there's there.
00:28:28
Speaker 4: Should be some I think there is, but some cost for concern about both of these guys.
00:28:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's crazy to see Ryan Helsley continue to get shitited on. He's not even close to being a good pitcher right now, Like I don't know how he gets out of the woods here. Same thing with Reed Garrett. Both of them feel mega lost. Both of them feel like kind of hopeless right now. Where I've seen you be good pitchers, especially Reied Garrett we've seen for a couple of years, but he always goes in these weird streaks where he is almost unpitchable. And he got through the inning at least, thank goodness, because again it was twelve to five when he got out of the game, read Garrett, But to give up those three runs stressful, didn't even walk anybody, and then for Helsley to then come in the ninth in what was a bit of a I don't want to say disrespectful because Ryan Helseley does not deserve any close games right now by any means, but that's a bit of a wake up call. I feel like when you bring out Ryan Helsley in a twelve five game, that's a little bit of a shot to him, like, hey, we need you to get confident, we need you to get right, and he's not. He still isn't three hits, three hundred runs. He looked way worse than he even had before. I don't know how it's possible. 00:30:32
Speaker 4: And it's just like I tried to get really deep on Ryan Helsy here and look at what's going on, like what's wrong and even this game, because I think a lot of times, for a lot of these other appearances, it's been like his command's been off.
00:30:42
Speaker 3: This one, he was in the zone.
00:30:44
Speaker 4: I think the Mets were instructing him be in the zone and they were trying to push up his curveball usage in this one where he in one bad inning, he threw six curve balls. Rann Helsey's not throw very many curveballs. He is a very well While he was with the Cardinals for the first three months of the season, he threw thirty two total curveballs. Yeah, so that's like that was like eighteen percent of all the curve balls he threw before this trade happened.
00:31:05
Speaker 3: Just in this one horrible inning and.
00:31:07
Speaker 4: Looking deeply like there's no real changes in the velocity, the pitch movement, the arm mangled, the extension.
00:31:12
Speaker 3: It really does come down to the sequencing and the.
00:31:15
Speaker 4: Fact that he's not able to get the swings and misses at all. And that's slider like he was that Slyer was like a it was whacked. It was one of the best pitches in the league. Like that pitch itself had a forty five percent striker right in, a forty six percent w free so far as it met.
00:31:27
Speaker 3: And this is including of course that disaster.
00:31:29
Speaker 4: On Friday, so it's only just twenty four percent striker and thirty four percent went free. When that's the one pitch you can lean on like that, it just needs to be better because his fastball is like kind of a medium with pitch it really more so it's like it's to get called strikes, it to get a head pitch, and he needs that slider to be the finisher. It's not the finisher. It makes me a little bit almost worried that they're breaking out this curveball. So I'm like, you should have been able to be this two pitch guy, and now we're trying. And again this goes back to the conversation about after the other day, where like you're trying to get cast exparisions on my goat, but it's also like he's clearly the lat with these guys trying to do something here.
00:32:00
Speaker 2: And listen, listen my dispersions that I was casting, as you just so eloquently said, It was just it was a thought cop process. It was a conversation. I give I have to play both sides. I give Eric Chavez and Jeremy Barnes the utmost shit. So when pitching goes wrong, I just I have to be fair to Jeremy Hefner. He understands he doesn't take offense.
00:32:16
Speaker 3: That's right.
00:32:16
Speaker 4: But that also to me is like maybe again, hopefully it's a good thing. Hopefully maybe he can corral that curve ball and that curveball comes a piece and then we just we we back our way back into this thing.
00:32:25
Speaker 2: But I was gonna say, the the best case scenario is like get it, get it all the fuck out now, man, get it all out now, figure it out. So that if we were playing October baseball, Ryan Helsley is back to the version I was, because he was a. He was a top ten reliever in all of baseball undoubtedly before coming to the Mets. And then he comes here and it's like those brights they're too light, turn them off.
00:32:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, and then maybe that probably is some of it too, Like this definitely comes down to one like a lot of just small sample shit, Like he's only made five appearances with the Mets.
00:32:50
Speaker 3: It feels like a lot because we got him over. Yeah, so then they've they've.
00:32:55
Speaker 4: All been bad basically besides the first one, which almost got bad if you remember right that Friday night against the Giants, and and then all of a sudden, like these things start to snowball. And being reliever is such a mental game, Like here Trevor May talk about that all the time, and he does his own content and he goes on rates and barrels every single week, where it's just like you kind of.
00:33:09
Speaker 3: Have to believe like you're the man, you're the guy.
00:33:12
Speaker 4: It's like, and now the fact that belief is gone, you're coming into blowouts, you're trying to work on a fold in a new pitch, you're Slyther, which is your bread and Butther doesn't get one swing and miss in that game where it's just like you can't spot them right like some of these callstrikes them.
00:33:24
Speaker 3: You're not burying them, but you bury them, you're spiking him.
00:33:26
Speaker 4: It's not close. It's a it's a scary thing for healsy right now. But also the thing where I know that like one click and it happens back like this is a similar thing with Hellsley. People are clamoring to get Ryan Stanick off his team like same like last August and Ryan Stanick literally was an unusable relief pitcher and then three and three weeks later he was the primary setup man. Like that's just when guys throw one hundred miles per hour. It's kind of like, I don't know. They're kind of like puppies in a way, like you just got a nurse milong, Like they'll piss on the rug, no worries, Like you gotta give them, let them make their mistakes because if they anything goes right, like it'll be the best experience ever.
00:33:58
Speaker 2: Can I talk about some of the positive from from Friday as well?
00:34:02
Speaker 3: Could you read garreic quickly?
00:34:03
Speaker 6: Oh?
00:34:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, do Regarra forgot I honestly, there was so much negative I thought we just like I thought we slipped them in there a little bit.
00:34:08
Speaker 4: Read Garrett, I'm a little bit more concerned about than but either Hellesley or Standic right now, just because he is. This is the same thing that happened with Reed Garrett last year early in season, the first time he went down the skids a little bit where they're not chasing the stuff anymore. He's not getting swings and missus out of his zone on really anything besides the splither. And this is the same thing we talked about Sang all the time, where if they know that splither's coming, it's really easy one to hit. And if they know what's coming and they're not swinging out of the zone, then he has to throw the in zonef to throw an in the zone like we just talked about Murph, if it's straight and slow like the hitter seat that coming from a mile away where.
00:34:41
Speaker 3: He is not.
00:34:41
Speaker 4: He's only gotten one swing and miss on his sweeper out of the zone since the end of June.
00:34:46
Speaker 2: That's so bad.
00:34:47
Speaker 4: And because color is a pitch that he's not throwing it in the zone as much as he was, but they're not chasing it when it's out of it. He has No, he has zero chases Missus on his color since the end of June. So it's a situation happens Rigat right now where it's like he doesn't have the overpowering fastballs, but he has all the junk on them.
00:35:03
Speaker 3: He has to be locating that junk. Betan right now, he's just.
00:35:04
Speaker 2: Not you know, he's there's there's three guys right now very concerned about in the bullpen, which I didn't think I'd be having that feeling right now.
00:35:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, I have missed this.
00:35:14
Speaker 4: After the game, John harp stweets now talking about the last moment about negative stuff. Sure todd Ziel said that he thinks that Tyrone Taylor catches that ball that dropped in front of Mallins.
00:35:22
Speaker 2: I think that's toxic. I think it's toxic to say that. I think that's a bad look. Keith was very he was like, nobody makes that play. He goes He's like, you need to make a perfect play, and even still then you have to lay out tough play. I thought it was a tough play. I think there's a lot of unwarranted hate still to Cedric Mullins, who had a nice little weekend by the way, oh he did. And I think again, like Cedric Mallins isn't an elite center field defender, he's a good center field defender. Tyrone Taylor is closer to being elite center field defender, but very clearly he's much less capable.
00:35:49
Speaker 3: With the bat than Cedric Mallins. And it's not even a conversation.
00:35:51
Speaker 2: It does also matter too, like where Tyrone would have been to start the pitch too, Like what if Tyrone plays a little deeper? What if he plays you know, like there there's different things that get put into the I feel like that's not fair to really say that to Cedric Mullins. I do think that's a little bit of a shit job there by Toddsy. That's a little media marvelish.
00:36:06
Speaker 4: Kind of a little bit. It's close to a media marvel. If that becomes a bigger story, maybe with media marvel in a little wild, but I think I think that Okay, it's just yes, sometimes you gotta blame the lunch lady, and I think that's happening right now. People trying to point fingers after a loss like this.
00:36:17
Speaker 3: Sometimes it's just loose.
00:36:18
Speaker 2: And what's funny too, is it was again relatively a great weekend because the Mets bass absolutely woke up. Dude, I don't again. We love WANSDA on this podcast. The rest of the world not so much. You know what Wansda's numbers are the last two weeks, tell me last fifteen games that Wan Soda has played. Thirteen home or uh no, sorry, six home runs, six home runs, thirteen RBIs, seventeen walks, fifteen strikeouts, fourteen hits. He's got an o ps A ten twenty four over the last two weeks.
00:36:44
Speaker 4: Now, he's pretty good watching watching him every single day like this guy is unbelievable. Also, a lot of credit has to be heat done to Starling Marte. Starling Marte oddly has been it was glue. He's been the glue guy, like in a crazy way, like when these when both of these games dropped lineups. When Starling Mart's he was thinking there a Friday, I was like shit and was starring MARTA's leftfield Saurday, I was like shit. And both times in both games he did something really good from those spots to help the team win.
00:37:07
Speaker 2: We are going on his last thirty games. Stalrn Martez in nine to twenty eight ops and one hundred at bats that's also.
00:37:13
Speaker 3: Went injury in between.
00:37:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, like, that's really really good. He's played really good baseball. And then you could just go through this lineup and you're starting to see maybe those bats wake up a little bit. Francisco Lindor, we know, has been absolutely on fire, but especially the last fifteen days, even the last thirty games, his OPS is above nine hundred. The last fifteen games it's over eleven hundred. The dudes locked in at the plate. The one guy who's really not hitting right now is Peete. That's pretty much it.
00:37:36
Speaker 3: I have a crazy satura about Lindor.
00:37:37
Speaker 4: So I covered the Mets game on Friday for NBC, and at this time Lindor's last ten games after Friday night he was twenty two for forty four.
00:37:46
Speaker 2: Oh so for.
00:37:48
Speaker 4: A ten game stretch he was five hundred, and those ten games he bumped his OPS from seven thirty five to seven ninety seven in ten games in the middle of August, he went sixty OPS points after hitting five hundred.
00:37:57
Speaker 3: So I think that's another.
00:37:58
Speaker 4: One where it's like cool, now we got now the statslic Knights again, it's all good. The one guy who's not gonna get the stats like a nice again who is really important though, just to be nice, it's Vento's yep, especially with him and Marte together, if they can be lefty mashers, that that makes his team look a lot different as we head down the stretch and have to play some of these tough lefties.
00:38:14
Speaker 2: It's the conversation that Mookie Betts has had out loud a couple times, where's like, this season's numbers are going to look bad for me. This is a lost year statistically, but I can still finish the year and be the player that I can be. And for Mark Fiento's his last thirty games, we're looking at an ops of eight forty three. That's phenomenal. Seven to seventy ops. Mark Fiento's would be a revelation to this team. If he is like that eight forty ops is basically what he did last year. If he is the last year version of Mark Viento's again, this team becomes very scary at the plate literally.
00:38:44
Speaker 4: And I think that that conversation that we have about Betts a lot, that's a really easy thing to like mentally get throuin your Hall of Fame with multiple World Series rings. Of course, I think it's a very difficult mental hurdle for a guy like Mark Vando's twenty five years old, still actively looking for his footing in this league. Came up in trade discussions, was the hero became the pariah, Like he's gotten everything in between the last twelve months. So I think it's it maybe hated beloved, like getting shit talking to the Messed Up podcast, getting loved in the mess like he's been.
00:39:11
Speaker 3: He's literally done that.
00:39:12
Speaker 4: He's run the whole game, but in twelve months, and so I think if if he can get through that mental hurdles, I think seeing his confidence, like seeing the way swinging the bat, harder pulling the ball, being more decisive with more conviction at the plate, like those are all things I think play into this just a big step forward him again being some guys that we need to like in this lineup because at this point in the season, I'm so confident Brett Baty player. Oh yeah, of course he's great, the great Brett Baty. You basically can't take him out against any pitcher. He's by one of those positions like he's locked in there and the red.
00:39:38
Speaker 2: Baty's almost at a point where like this offseason, you don't even consider trading him because he's so valud because he plays multiple positions. You'd really need to go get like a guy if you're gonna be moving Brett Baty at this point.
00:39:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, Elisa, it would have to.
00:39:51
Speaker 2: Be like a guy guy like and then you you still that's like if the Tigers want try to do it without them. It's like if the Tigers were like, you want Derek Scougle, You're like, yes, yes, we do well, yes.
00:40:01
Speaker 3: Thirty two year old coun Tell Marte, Yeah it could.
00:40:03
Speaker 2: Tell is still like one of the ten best players, like with like a seven year deal, one hundred fifty milt left, he's got, He's here un till twenty thirty. So it is Brett Baty, very same thing.
00:40:12
Speaker 4: But I know, I think that breathing game to a point Brett Bailey where it's like I'm just confident in his spot, you know what I mean. Like next year he's starting an opening day I don't know where, but the rest of the team will fill in around him. Yeah, he may not be the everyday player ever for this team, but he might be the play three four times a week because you can move between third and second.
00:40:27
Speaker 2: I know, I think next year he will be for sure being every day player. Oh you think so?
00:40:31
Speaker 4: Heading his season? Third, Okay, we're working on eighty three games at.
00:40:37
Speaker 3: Eight hundred ops and pop plus teason spots.
00:40:39
Speaker 2: I like it.
00:40:40
Speaker 4: This is the exact thing that Mark you just did last year. So maybe it's all happens again. But it's just like next year. Yeah, it's just you just you could just like feel the ballplayer is from Brett Bailey's emanating, like the confidence is growing so much, both like of himself and his teammates of him.
00:40:53
Speaker 2: Also, that's cool. You see how bad he got major screwed today. There was a strike three called mist to him from Bryce Elder at one point in the game, clear strike three missed it. The next pitch was about three inches inside to Brett, baby umpire punched him right out. Keith rad on the radio was like, oh, he's like, I know you missed that last weeks, but you can't give that one a makeup call. It wasn't even close a.
00:41:14
Speaker 3: Radic strike zone.
00:41:15
Speaker 4: Definitely on Sunday, but there was also a play that Baby, I'm not gonna say it was a play like you should have made, but that double play before the rally began.
00:41:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just.
00:41:23
Speaker 3: It was a good turn. He's just somebodys didn't get a lot in the throat.
00:41:27
Speaker 4: Yes, ozzielvii's does run well, so this hard to turn two on him wasn't the hardest hick ground ball either. It was just it was a again like we're gonna nipick everyone.
00:41:34
Speaker 3: We got nippi him as well.
00:41:35
Speaker 2: Okay, let's let's let's move ahead. Now let's look forward. Big series, Philadelphia Phillies coming to town. James, you've been telling the people what the pitchers are doing, and it's been working. We can't hit Bryce Elder. He's got some witch magic. Like I fuck it, I'm done. No more Bryce Elder anymore, probably this season. So we're good. Eric Fetty, your boy got shelled. Joey Wentz got shelled. Cow Quantrell got sheld. The bullpen got shelled. There's a lot of pressure on you because this series against the Phillies, we are very far away seven seven games back as of August twenty fourth. Let's let's make up some ground here. So what are the pitching matchups for us?
00:42:08
Speaker 1: All right?
00:42:08
Speaker 4: So, uh, first game of the series code I Sanga versus Christopher Sanchez, hayesof yeah, it's almost we wish it's a half faces Christopher Sanchez Tuesday another seven ten Sean and I versus hayesus Lazar though, and then Wednesday you don't talking about an asoff, Nolan McLain versus Taiwan Walker.
00:42:30
Speaker 3: We're gonna be there right Wednesday, Wednesday and not Wednesdays. Want tom working.
00:42:35
Speaker 4: I'm planning to go Monday and Tuesday though, all right, I'll be their Monday Tuesday as well. I Also, I'm curious about how the Mets handle is rotation. Like we're gonna talk about these pictures in a second here, but Sanga has not looked good, and you're pitching them on the fifth day, Like, I don't know if they do something to shuffle these guys around, but I do think if they want McClain to face the Phillies, Like, I'm very curious about how they how they handle all this stuff.
00:42:55
Speaker 2: Now, I'm not saying that for this series, But wasn't there a tweet? Didn't Puma kind of stir the a little bit yesterday saying that people inside the Mets organization like Jonah tong has pitched two games in Triple A. It's been untouchable, and like everybody in the world is singing his praises, like his stuff is just it's one of the best in baseball, let alone just Triple A, like the Mets Puma Sweet. Basically on the lines was that people inside the Mets organization didn't think it was gonna be a conversation about Jonah Tongue being come up this year. Now people are like, should should he make a start? I'm not saying it's gonna be against this Phillies team, but maybe that's a way, like he kind of work out this rotation, well, just pitch on Friday.
00:43:31
Speaker 3: So I don't think he can pitch in the series.
00:43:32
Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I said, it's not this series, but just to talk about how we can maybe get Code I Sangle or even Clay Holmes an extra day. We know how big that is for him as well. Well.
00:43:41
Speaker 4: Similarly, we figured that this made a lot of sense for the Brandon's sprot debut, whether it would have come this Sunday in Atlanta or Monday at home against the Phillies, because he pitched for Syracuse on Sunday, pitched out of the bullpen for the first time I think in his life, and he did not settle in well. He got that first inning was rougher. It seemed like that was tough. That was a tough mental hurdle, so good that they tried it down Triple A rather in the Major League. But that seemed like the logical choice here for the guy that for two months has been basically untouchable on Triple A to be able to slot in on Monday and give the extra day. I think Ryan Finkelstein connected a bunch of dots about like taking four days off as the mess did right before they put no al McLean up again.
00:44:12
Speaker 3: Didn't come Drew for sprou So I do wonder. I still wonder.
00:44:16
Speaker 4: I think we probably just wind up getting some Hagan's series.
00:44:19
Speaker 2: That's what I was gonna say. It's gotta be Hageman, because we know that Frankie Mantis is out for the rest of the year with the mystery UCL injury that all of a sudden came. He was warming up the night before and then all of a sudden he's got UCL injury.
00:44:30
Speaker 4: I mean, it would make sense if he's been pitching through something. He's been so bad it's unthinkable.
00:44:34
Speaker 2: I was about to say, is this is this bad? To say that, like, I hope he's hurt because he was so bad that something has to be physically wrong for how poorly he was pitching.
00:44:42
Speaker 3: No, I don't think that's bad at all. Also, like, you know, it's a horrible thing.
00:44:45
Speaker 2: But it would really clear up a lot of our questions heading into next year. When I think about, right, nothing about nothing about it, nothing about that, nothing about it, nothing about that.
00:44:52
Speaker 3: I just think we we've been the pre eminent foop ploppers.
00:44:56
Speaker 4: If we're going to see Joanna Tong this year, Literally in the last two episodes, I have to creed. I think we definitely will. That went completely against everything I thought. I said, we're definitely not. And then when Puma sent that tweet out Saturday, I was texting people like, Hey, you think this is real? And it's like I it's a that's a weird moment for Puma to get that scoop, though would make some sense. I feel like we'd hear Martino say it, but I still just think that the two sides of the same coin were one. I think he's too good for the trip for Triple A. I think he's definitely one of thirteen best pitchers in this roster, and if you have to win games, you should have him pitching the majors. The other side, he just got the Triple A and he's not to the B on the forty man, Like I don't know why.
00:45:31
Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't really see David stars rushing it.
00:45:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, especially when you do have and this, Oh, this is gonna be so sad to say, Blake, you have Hagenman who's on the forty man and has been has been good enough. But that's probably what they're thinking, is like until it's really gonna be one of those moments where it's like until we physically have to call him up this year, if that's a possibility, we're not gonna do it. And you know who the guy's going to be that gets called up. Oh yeah, I'm looking at the active ross her.
00:46:00
Speaker 3: You do you can't figure it out?
00:46:02
Speaker 2: Oh no, check your phone, if you got any text messages, Check my phone, if I got any text messages.
00:46:07
Speaker 3: Anyone asking if you're up.
00:46:08
Speaker 2: Oh, Tyler McGill, Tyler forgot about him? God, Tyler McGill.
00:46:13
Speaker 4: Three rehab appearances, tweeted out from Mets up the other day through his three rehab stars got out of tweets. Cant I got scroll scroll scroll shout outa troll best into whatever it it is. Ten innings, five hits, two walks, no runs, seventeen strikeouts. Fuck, I said, And you know what he pitched again? I think it's he pitched Friday. I think Tog pitched Saturday.
00:46:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, so it does.
00:46:37
Speaker 4: Line up that Tyler could come back on his fifth day for the Wednesday game to push back Clay Holmes.
00:46:42
Speaker 2: If they want to do that, or he pitches baby.
00:46:44
Speaker 4: But that would be that woud actually McLain, That would McLain spot So again the pressure point though it was Monday with saying, guy, it seems like they're just gonna run him out there in the fifth day.
00:46:51
Speaker 3: And let him get lit up again.
00:46:52
Speaker 2: I don't love.
00:46:53
Speaker 4: But then like also like I don't believe in punt games, but like, if you're gonna put one of them, do it against Christopher Sanchez. Let hay Khimna just take the ball against Christopher sanch Trackash lighting in the bottle, talk about masof that that would be a realized of Christopher Sanchez this whole season has not allowed more than four. I guess I want to fully transition to the series priefing now, but he hasn't allowed win four and runs in any start this season. Like he's one of the best pitches baseball. He probably comes in second National League young the schemes like he's that good. But I'm very curious about how we handled it because I thought that we were going to see some aggressiveness with the s BRO promotion. Not seeing that, I'm really curious about even how much how much they expect of Sean and I and Korea saying on the fifth day.
00:47:29
Speaker 2: I mean, it hasn't been much for like two months.
00:47:32
Speaker 4: So because Hagen is not even in the bullpen now, so you figure after this game bras Ubon goes back down. If they were were going to option read Garrett, they would have optioned him on Friday. If you were going to cut Ryan Stanick, you would have cut them already. Like those two things are something I don't think they're going to happen.
00:47:47
Speaker 2: So, I mean, they could just send read Garrett down right now.
00:47:51
Speaker 4: They could, but you probably were more likely to have done it after he pitched fair so I think the fact that we didn't get that notification Saturday, it makes me think that it's just not a consideration. But then also in this say Milk, he wasn't used in high leverage on Sunday, so it's like you have to kind of make decision one way or the other there. You probably just get him on this roster for brows of bon tomorrow. He probably mops up if either Sango or me and I just can't go deep, which I don't know if the other them, well.
00:48:13
Speaker 2: Until they do, I don't believe it. It's kind of where I stand.
00:48:16
Speaker 4: So gut check says brand Spro pitch for the Mets of the season. Yes, does Joan Tong pitchure the Mets of the season?
00:48:24
Speaker 3: Yes?
00:48:25
Speaker 2: Okay, so you think you're back in on Tong, I'm back in. I'm back in the fact he really he's been so dominant. Like's it's like he's playing on rookie in Triple A. Like it's if you're if you're a Road to the Show character and you're Jonah Tong, You're like, why the fuck haven't I been called up yet? What else do you need to see? I'm so much better than these losers down here bring me up.
00:48:43
Speaker 4: But that's I think the thing they need to see is the fact that he can mix the arsenal a little bit more like the fact he has to be able to show that he can have the bridge pitch in between, like the fastball and the curve box.
00:48:53
Speaker 3: We talked about the curveball lot of.
00:48:54
Speaker 2: He does need it, you know, he might not need the fast ball, might be good enough.
00:48:57
Speaker 3: We doesn't need it.
00:48:58
Speaker 4: I mean, because he just he ran through the Indianapolis Indians. How would they still have that name?
00:49:01
Speaker 3: That's crazy? They still that the name of Cleveland doesn't That's kind of funny.
00:49:05
Speaker 2: Interesting.
00:49:06
Speaker 4: It's just it's twenty one swings and misses against like a triple A team, like his second Triple A star and in that he threw more granted as the Pirates, but it's the Pirates Triple A, so it's just like basically double A. But again with Kaya, he's he might be the exact kind of guy we talk about where it's just there's nothing, there's nothing for him to do with triple A.
00:49:23
Speaker 3: No, it's just he's just simply too good.
00:49:25
Speaker 4: While he might still have things, he theoretically has to work on before reaching the major leagues. He's just too good for triple A. And the fact that this in this start more so in the first one. The first one I think was ninety percent fastballs change ups. Yes, this one got that down to about eighty and we were throwing some sliders and curve balls. Actually this one, the slider got two swings and missus and the shape is a bit firmer. It's like if you but the fastball might just be good enough to just deshoy major ague hider, so like he might be able to just like show it that the imanagas way like through lineups, that guy has like a two five yarra. He doesn't even look that impressive doing it, and like he's touching ninety eight like and his fast vassi does fall and he's a couple of stars. Think he probably still puts me in his bone shown a tongue. But it's just he's one of your thirteen best pitcher. It's like it would almost be a disservice to the guys in the clubhouse and not give him something this year. And he has he probably has.
00:50:09
Speaker 2: More innings than McLean Orsbroke probably through maybe maybe, I mean maybe I think he's thrown less this year.
00:50:15
Speaker 3: If you were this year, so fair.
00:50:16
Speaker 2: I don't know. I think we'll see both of them at some point. I don't know if they're I don't. I'm not gonna make the prediction that they're both on the playoff roster if we make it there. But I do think we see both of them at some point this year.
00:50:23
Speaker 4: Oh, they got it, could be in the playoff ross. There's no but no point calling them up that I could be a playoff roster.
00:50:27
Speaker 2: I'm just like, if Sproke comes up and gets hit, I think he's probably gonna go right back to the sure.
00:50:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, same thing with if he didn't come up and get hit. But you have one week from when recording this. They gotta be in the forty man by September first to playoff eligible.
00:50:39
Speaker 2: Is that true?
00:50:40
Speaker 3: I believe, So, don't check me right now.
00:50:41
Speaker 2: No, I think prospects are different. I think that's like if you're bringing in guys, surely, because you should be able to what if, what if there's a tragedy. Maybe injuries can change that. Yeah, I think like injury should be able to change that because it's I think that's more so like if you're bringing in new players to the organization has to be that'd be insane.
00:50:58
Speaker 3: A playoff eligible produce.
00:51:00
Speaker 4: This AI So it might not be true, but it's it's it's you gotta be on the forty man roster or injured list by August thirty.
00:51:07
Speaker 6: First man.
00:51:08
Speaker 2: It feels like that can't possibly be right. I'll check, go, go, go the MLP gloss right now. I'm try to scroll right now for like September call ups that it got added to the forty man have never been able to I get maybe maybe they've just always been on the forty man.
00:51:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're on the forty man thinks about being on the forty man. Maybe that's just what it is, all right, Well, I mean, i'll tell you what to watch. Me's Mets do have.
00:51:26
Speaker 2: Some guys that can clear off this forty man roster though, for sure. So definitely no no offense to ty ad Cock, Alex Correo, Kristovenski, Dom hammil Kevin Hurget, Brandon Waddell, Jonathan Pinaro still on here. There's there's room for some pictures that I think are a little higher quality than that, and I think the Mets know that I think they're really weighing it.
00:51:46
Speaker 4: Yes, I agree, and I think that Puma is saying that that can't mean nothing. He's been doing this, he's been doing this too long, and it's too many connections that throw something crazy out there like that in a Saturday evening.
00:51:55
Speaker 2: Too many mister softies to not have those connections.
00:51:58
Speaker 4: Some ice cume for Brecas Mike Boom Special, but again, pitching matchups the series against the Phillies after they could mind lea pitching talk, Sanga Sanchez, Mania, Lazardo McClain, Taiwan Walker, Christopher Sanchez Hip the Cap. Yeah, there's there's no game plan for this one. No, it's just you gotta hope the ground balls get through the fact that he's just he's just throwing sinkers and change ups over and over again, and they look exactly the same when they leave his hands, and they have like a ten twelve mile an hour difference.
00:52:21
Speaker 3: Now, so it's a nine mile an hour ten mile an hour.
00:52:23
Speaker 4: Difference just to drop in a lot. You're just pounding everything to the ground. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball. He's in fucking credible.
00:52:30
Speaker 2: It's funny because when he first came up on the Phillies. I don't know if you guys remember this, but he was like, oh, we're facing Christopher Sanchez like he sucked when he first came up, he was horrible. Didn't they trade for him from somewhere?
00:52:40
Speaker 3: It's like a bleaguered prospect. Wasn't there some kind of acquisition?
00:52:43
Speaker 2: M I'll quickly find that out for you real quick. I don't remember if that's the case. He was a Ray initially and they got him. I don't know how they got him. They got him for Curtis Mead that okay, I knew there's a weird trade. Along on weird trade, the imagine an all time coup by the Phillies, and everyone thought Christopher Chris meat was Christopher Sanchez like the first like twenty appearances of his career had like a seven yar and now he's simply one of the best pitchers in baseball. That's your guy.
00:53:09
Speaker 4: Oh, I was so. I was so in on him this year. I was, I was, that was my guy for sure. But again, you're not going to I don't.
00:53:15
Speaker 3: Know if you don't know if you get it to that much.
00:53:16
Speaker 4: Again, just you gotta get his groundballs. Through the hole next to you. Guys are pretty interesting here. Haysos bizarre though, and Taiwan Walker. Lazarre, though he went blazing at the beginning of the season, was untouchable. I had a new sweeper that was great, but he's lost a lot of consistency with that sweeper as the times gone on. The thing with Lazarre, though, is that he's just simply not a strike thrower, so you kind of have to wag them out a little bit.
00:53:35
Speaker 3: Of Sanchez, I think.
00:53:35
Speaker 4: It plays just be aggressive, like he's probably going seven to eight innings anyway, so just try to get on him early in the count with the ball and play, try and make him uncomfortable.
00:53:42
Speaker 2: Blazarre, though, this is like a wait. This is a wait and see game for the Mets. You want to wait to see when you until you get that hang sweeper. You want to see when he gets that change up that they can't execute to the lefty the second or third time.
00:53:52
Speaker 3: Around the order.
00:53:53
Speaker 4: That's where he's got into trouble, third, fourth, fifth innings, going around the lineups two or three times, letting guys on base and making mistakes and hit it, getting a hole.
00:54:00
Speaker 3: Run hit off him.
00:54:00
Speaker 2: I actually hate to do this to you, but I think he's actually been really good third time through the order. I remember watching a game of his recently. He's better third time through the order than when he goes first and second time. I remember because I was like, what, that's an insane stat.
00:54:15
Speaker 4: I was talking about some friends about third time to the other stuff today on Sunday and the fact that the Mets like aren't the worst team in baseball third time to the order is really funny.
00:54:23
Speaker 6: Yeah.
00:54:23
Speaker 4: You know the two teams in the league who have allowed their pitchers to face batters third time to the order the fewest, The Dodgers they've done the fewest, and the Man Because I did that tweet the other day I got smoked about talking about like, the Mets pitchers not going deep is like a lame conversation that everyone overblows.
00:54:38
Speaker 2: The Brewers are gonna be my other choice.
00:54:40
Speaker 3: Yep, those are crazy.
00:54:43
Speaker 4: Those are the two teams that don't allow their pitchers to see the most hitters. I can't can't believe it too, because the Brewers don't like analytics. That's me think they would do that.
00:54:49
Speaker 2: That's interesting too, because those teams stink right and their pitching is horrible.
00:54:54
Speaker 4: Also, Hazel's Cizzar though I don't know where you got information, but the third time to do or it's a five six y rs, Okay, then maybe it's somebody else. Ye now I've I've covered I've covered too many of Haysles Bizzar the starts this year and watched that happen where they he'll just like let a couple of guys on base and just totally missed with something.
00:55:07
Speaker 3: I give up a three run home run.
00:55:08
Speaker 2: I was watching a start. I'm telling you maybe maybe maybe he got blown up that Red Sox start he had three weeks ago. Really got blown up that stat because he gave up like eight runs the third time through the Earth. Yeah. To be honest, I think it might have been before that. Possibly that could have been it. But like he's just again like that. That sweeper is going to be big time.
00:55:25
Speaker 4: He likes to steal strikes with for the Rdys as well, so that could be something for the Mets.
00:55:28
Speaker 3: To look at.
00:55:29
Speaker 4: He'll throw that sweeper to the Rity's early accounts and again I spoke for the Ridis once we're going to be able to hit that change up almost he's gonna be bixing that one in.
00:55:36
Speaker 2: More so it's a been hot in August.
00:55:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fine, hazels Zar though every single day you do not know what you're getting.
00:55:42
Speaker 3: That's who is.
00:55:42
Speaker 4: He could throw a nineting shot out against us. We can knock them out a second inning. That's kind of who he is.
00:55:46
Speaker 2: Taiwan.
00:55:47
Speaker 4: I want to I want to go hats off to what the Phillies have done with him, because he's been like awesome, I know, but he actually has I would like to hit him. I intend to crush him. The game he just had against the Nationals on a Friday, his last pitch with the John Duran shit himself and blew that game for the Phillies. That was last time they lost that series. Walker gave with through home runs a third battery in the game, and then he gave up like two more base runs the rest of his start.
00:56:09
Speaker 3: Like it's very amazing.
00:56:10
Speaker 4: And he's been doing the color thing that he used to do with us, where he's just he just leaves that color on the back door. He could make you make a late decision because all the leftis are going to be the lineup against him, So that's gonna be a fun one. Him and Solo are definitely going to have like a nine pitch battle where he's going to be trying through like seven straight colleges trying to pick off an edge and then so they will foul off one. He'll take a close one, he'll get a call striker to look back at the umpire. Like there's going to be at least one or two good battles between Taiwan Walker and Wan Solo. But like he has a three four ERA on the season, Like he hasn't given up more than three runs in eight starts since he moved back to their rotation.
00:56:41
Speaker 2: You know, like he's he's been like the absolute.
00:56:43
Speaker 4: Premiere, like fourth fifth star that for this team to kind of drag them through, and they have like los Zack Wheeler, inconsistency and injuries from Aaronola, like it's been kind of from more end like in major consistence from his SISTLZAR though, like he's been a weirdly steadying force for this Phillies team. Which is also something to talk about too, is that Taiwan does strike anybody out.
00:57:00
Speaker 2: Though this is the big thing. Yeah, it's balls in play, and we know balls and players are dangerous. We've seen it with Clay Homes. Balls and play are dangerous. So as long as the Mets, like he's the guy where you mentioned try to jump all over Christopher Sand just be patient with Lizardo. I think with Taiwan, you want to knock this guy out of the game, like just go, just go attack, attack, attack.
00:57:18
Speaker 4: But again, like I think sometimes and he knows how to play into that attack attack attack, the teams do against him because he throws that annoying ass color that's just eating edges.
00:57:26
Speaker 3: Like he will just stay if he's right.
00:57:27
Speaker 2: So and play all the rights against them.
00:57:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe do that, but then he still has to sweep it.
00:57:31
Speaker 4: Like maybe the thing to get with Taiwan is that you kind of have to feel out who he is. Like we remember watching Taiwan and sometimes he get in the mound. You'd be like, nice, this guy's so on right now the first pitch, he's got fucking nothing. Becau's all about. He's just he has to be so precise with his command, but he's going to just make it so annoying with that color against the left. He's like you're gonna be like, oh my god, Like so many pitches you feel like are hit theable, but you can't make a decision. Then he'll break a sinker off atwo and it'll go the other way. It'll be like, damn this he's just he's annoying guy. It's like credit to him because people really shitting on him. That big contract designed in the fact that he has been a reliable pitcher. He's kind of done exactly the Klay Holmes. He's got three four and one three whip in the hundred innings, which is funny.
00:58:08
Speaker 3: But he's that's gonna be. That's that's gonna be probably a swing game of this series. At least I hope it will be.
00:58:13
Speaker 2: I almost said something about the Phillies that I didn't. I'll tell you this well, Kyle Shwarber quick conversation, five hundred home runs. He's a Hall of Famer.
00:58:21
Speaker 3: Right, one hundred million percent because he's really close. I know, he's really close.
00:58:25
Speaker 4: And a lot of people are shitting on kylesh wwarberd for the no war for the Hall of Fame, which I you know, I understand that to a degree. David Artiz was the first battle Hall of Fame with fifty career war Yeah, and again like Kyeg Warpers, I don't think you're gonna get close to fifty war even though won't go sniff it no, but he's still like, I, I don't know you're gonna keep some of five with home runs out of the Hall of Fame. This is where I think, like war like, we should have a little more context than just blanket numbers for war because five hundred home runs is the most valuable thing you could ever do in a single moment in any baseball game. Ever, the most valuable thing a player could ever do is hit a home run. A pitcher throws one strike, that's one strike.
00:58:57
Speaker 2: A hitter hits one home run on the same pitch that was thrown by that picture, it's one run guaranteed, no matter what. Like it's the conversation on Twitter because I put it out there about that. When he gets to five hundred, he is a no doubt Hall of Famer in my books, people like, you're crazy. I'm like, have you watched baseball? I had someone trying to complain. They're like, klesh Warber is a one sided player, one tool player. So we're gonna put Wampierre in the home in the Hall of fame because he stole basis. I'm like, are we comparing stolen bases to hitting home runs? Are we fucking that stupid? That's that was the dumbest comment I ever saw. I had to bring it up.
00:59:29
Speaker 4: I think if someone averaged like one hundred and sixty stolen basis year, they could be All of Famer. Yeah, of course, right, yeah, But I don't know. I think Schwarbish just again, there is a long way to go. Like, I know that right now Schwarbur, when he's turning thirty three, he's having the best season of his career. He might actually win the National League MVP, Like we're trending towards that right now.
00:59:46
Speaker 2: In the sports. But you can't. You can't. He can't look at John's I know. But there's if you're betting Kles Shwarber win the MVP right now, you're an idiot. Shoeo Tani has better offensive numbers and pitches. He pitches.
00:59:57
Speaker 3: He's pitched a little bit this year.
00:59:58
Speaker 2: It's not he's still He's thrown fifty innings. Actually that's more innings than kylleg Schwarbers throw his entire career. In true good point, really good point there but the fact that they they get the m VP sometimes is a little stupid. If Kylie Schwarber wins over Otani, this the m v P no longer matters anymore. It's officially a bullshit award. So now you're all in on the war for for No, I'm all in on shoe Haytani is a better hitter, and he also pitches. He's he is just a better hitter too.
01:00:26
Speaker 3: I I, oh, definitely, But I still think.
01:00:28
Speaker 4: I mean, I judges stats are going to be better than cal Raley at the end of the year.
01:00:32
Speaker 3: Yeah, who do you think judging the MVP of a rally.
01:00:34
Speaker 2: I think that it's gonna be close.
01:00:36
Speaker 4: I don't seven to be close to okay, but I just if the Pats win the division, you're gonna give show Hane MVP.
01:00:41
Speaker 3: Yes, let's I'll see get it.
01:00:44
Speaker 2: He gets mine.
01:00:45
Speaker 4: Okay, I probably vote for him as well. But I can see the writers being like, let's get you know, let's give Swarb's one. That's exactly that we shouldn't have writers make these ways.
01:00:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's totally true.
01:00:53
Speaker 4: But yeah, like there the question about Shwarbur is more of if he gets the five hundred home runs if he's all f Yes, I think that if someone does that, he will, but like I don't know how, Like this guy has just found like all the bats speed in the world and made the best even though he's always made really good swing decisions, like the best ones of his career.
01:01:08
Speaker 2: Probably even again turning thirty three, probably just had the bat speed forever. We didn't have the numbers.
01:01:13
Speaker 3: Hey probably think it's even better than last year though, Oh no, it'sad now.
01:01:16
Speaker 2: He just always had good bat speed, yeah, because like I remember watching him with the Cubs in that NLCS when we played them in twenty fifteen, because he torched us. He was the only guy in the Cubs that did anything. Schwarber and like watch him, like, oh, this guy's gonna hit like forty home runs forever. Like he's just he's got a softball swing.
01:01:30
Speaker 4: He's gonna get like fifty fifty five home runs a season. But him kind of leading into the topest Phillies over there. Phillies are hort r fields are really good team. The Phillies are one of the most complete teams in baseball. Like Turner's been hot, Sharper has been on fire. Schwarba is awesome, Like Remuto has had a good second half.
01:01:43
Speaker 2: I'll save it. I'm just remember what James said. I'm gonna talk about it at the end of the series.
01:01:47
Speaker 3: Okay, sure, but I mean I didn't say, okay, whatever. It's a shame that Zach Wheeler is out. Not a shame for the Mets, but the shame for baseball. Bom is back.
01:01:58
Speaker 4: We know Mark feels about him because I'm not gonna say anything, Harrison Bather, Bryce Is, I'm not gonna say a word.
01:02:03
Speaker 2: It's this is a This is an incredibly solid baseball team. Yeah, good baseball team. No, I really, I totally agree. They're a very good baseball team.
01:02:10
Speaker 4: But they finally did something that we've been calling for them to do forever, which is get rid of Garrett Stubbs because he sucks. And Rafael Marshaun's like actually a good backup catcher who's like, actually can play a little bit.
01:02:20
Speaker 2: That's the Phillies. I got nothing else to say. They're just good and we're so far back where it's I can't really even think about that right now.
01:02:25
Speaker 4: No, division's lear not even a conversation, and like, if we get to John Durant save Chance, like he's kind of torment into us, even weed to see him on the Twins, like the guy's disgusting.
01:02:32
Speaker 2: Is his walk out better than Edwin Diaz is? Right now?
01:02:35
Speaker 4: I think right now this, Yeah, I've been playing better. I don't think objectively. Is no I want objectively? Yeah, I mean Homer take, I'll always take Edwin, all right, give me some truth, serum, I might say to Ran.
01:02:47
Speaker 2: I think that the trumpets just getting a little tired.
01:02:50
Speaker 3: I think so.
01:02:50
Speaker 4: There's been a long time, now, very long time, the exact same routine, exact for four years.
01:02:55
Speaker 3: Three years.
01:02:56
Speaker 2: This is the last question before we wrap it up. Here do we see Does Ryan Helsley come out to Hell's bells with all the nonsense? Yeah?
01:03:05
Speaker 3: I hope not.
01:03:06
Speaker 4: I really hope for his sake, they just stopped doing that. Here's another big thing about the series. We're gon Jose alf Rodlick just got actively from a suspension.
01:03:12
Speaker 2: They're at the rat Funck's back. Maybe that's brawl. I want a brawl so bad.
01:03:17
Speaker 3: Maybe that could be the brawl. Brawl the Phillies, look, peppers, I'm checking forgot them.
01:03:22
Speaker 2: I think we do.
01:03:23
Speaker 3: Thank you all you guys who made bols.
01:03:24
Speaker 4: We're retween some bowls from the Messed Up to the Messed Up podcast.
01:03:27
Speaker 3: That was really cool to say.
01:03:29
Speaker 2: Just nice that, you know, the community came together and we.
01:03:31
Speaker 4: We want to see it worked. And then we do have Frankiy Peppers beautiful. Here comes the man, the myth, the legend, mister Francis Peppers.
01:03:42
Speaker 6: Getle man, this is Frankie Peppers. He knowing. It seems that I had cool people make some bowling yeas, and it seems that when two people make bowling niers, the Mets win two games in a series. So if we get some more people making more bowling yeas, one bowl and yeas equals one win. So I don't know how many games we got left. I'm gonna say, like, how about I see forty ball and yeass for the rest of the year. That'll get us where we meet. Tough loss to end the series. I'm not too heartbroken by it. It's wish we could have swept, but it happens. Teams lose four to three games all the time. I'm encouraged from what I'm seeing from the end those Pete does look lost. I think he's gonna come around as the season starts to end, and I don't have much more to say about that. I'm happy to see the Mets score some runs on Friday and Saturday nights. I'll be at City Field on Saturday and I'm seeing this seen this band on Wednesday. System is Down, the System of a Down, I think, so I'm excited for that. I'll post some pictures for you boys if you like the heavy metal music. Anyway, boys, I'll talk to you soon.
01:04:55
Speaker 2: Let's go Mets James, can you name one System of a Down song?
01:04:58
Speaker 3: Absolutely, They're awesome.
01:05:00
Speaker 2: I can't believe suey toxicity. I would every able name those songs as b yo b oh.
01:05:07
Speaker 3: B y o b Yeah, that's not my it's not my game.
01:05:10
Speaker 2: System of Downs bangers.
01:05:12
Speaker 4: Also, if you guys need the bolon as recipe, it's pinned on the series recap video from last week.
